The morning suddenly turned into noon in the seafoam islands. Wearing his pajamas, still, the diligent Raine continues to train for the big event tomorrow. Though the sun was high up in the sky at this point in time, the temperature surrounding the Seafoam Islands itself wasn't rising. In fact, it remained as cool and as breezy as ever - somehow, a temperature right after the winter, and right before the spring, where both seasons meet at their endpoints. The battlefield behind the Pokemon Center was already a mess, and caught in the heat of battle was Raine and another Pokemon Trainer who seemed to be a commoner on the island. Forming round them were a few more trainers who wanted to watch the ongoing fight.

"What?! I thought you were a Coordinator?! How come you're so tough?!" cried out the young lass. She was a Lass, indeed, with brown hair, the typical short skirt, and the typical panicky attitude. She began biting down on her nails now, insecure of what order she'd give to her fighting Pokemon - a Blastoise, and a powerful one at that.

This, in turn, had already forced Raine himself to release his most powerful Pokemon.

"I am, young Lass," mused Raine, not really looking the part of the winner at this time.

"Prin-plup!" [Going down!] cheered the proud Penguin Pokemon.

"How can your Prinplup possible defeat my big Blastoise?!" asked the Lass, surprised that the Blastoise was brought to its knees now, panting rather heavily, whilst Prinplup was still standing rather proudly before its opponent on the field. "How can you be so strong when you're only supposed to be good in contest battles?!"

"Young Lass," called Raine, "If this were a contest battle, I'd be announced the winner minutes ago," he said rather cooly, and mysteriously. His tone catching the attention of some, and yet, striking fear into the hearts of others. Rather, when pushed to show his real skill, Raine could be somebody equivalent to that of a Gym Leader in battle as anybody could, but he, however, wasn't even showing what he had in store. "I'm saving up for my contest battle tomorrow, mademoiselle, so please, bear with me," he mused, bowing to her gracefully.

"Don't underestimate me and Blastoise!" she cried out. "Withdraw and Rapid Spin, Blastoise!"

Once she gave the order, the huge shelled Pokemon retreated inside its huge shell, and began to rapidly spin in place creating what seemed to be a miniature Sandstorm, before storming towards the little Prinplup.

"Front tuck-Metal Claw," ordered Raine.

Prinplup then waited for the Blastoise to approach it. Anticipating, once it was a few feet away, precisely, Prinplup flipped upwards in the air and continued to roll forwards, until it was exactly on top of Blastoise's shell. Once it was, it had made the opportunity to gather additional energy by momentum and spinning force into its metallic flippers, and had hammered down on the shell with enough force, causing the carapace underneath to slam down to the earth dealing damage and shaking the Pokemon.

"It's going to take a lot more than that to shake us! Hydro Pump!" ordered the Lass.

"Aqua Jet Breakthrough!" suggested Raine.

The recovering Blastoise then stood up and slid backwards, arming itself as it unsheathed, finally, its dual cannons. From them, strong streams of water were blasted out, and the streams were aimed at Prinplup. Prinplup, on the other hand, was enveloped in a stream of water. The proud blue Pokemon raised its head then, and with the speed boat's velocity, it leaped into the air and glided as it was shielded by a stream of Water. It swerved right and left across and over the Hydro Pump's streams.

"With a Blastoise, I'm quite disappointed that you still haven't figured out how my Prinplup works, mademoiselle," Raine said in a rather insulting tone. The lass, however, merely replied with a grunt. "See, my Prinplup is indeed slow, but when it comes to both offensive and defensive power, Prinplup's actually quite refined. To cover up for that shortcoming, I use Aqua Jet to power up its speed and attack at the same time!"

"I don't care!" snapped the Lass. "Aim your Hydro Pump in one direction instead of two,"

"Spiral around the stream and use Ice Beam!" Raine yelled back.

Just as Blastoise had concentrated its Hydro Pump attack into just one powerful Water Stream, Prinplup had already maneuvered around the trick, and with success, had struck!

"Ice Beam!" ordered Raine.

And from that order, Prinplup broke away from Aqua Jet and while in forward motion, used an Ice Beam to keep himself from slamming directy into the opponent. Right in front of the Blastoise's face, Prinplup had launched a very specific bolt from clapping its hands, and pointing its beak at the target. Slowly, the temperature inside the area began to decrease. With a powerful Ice Beam, Prinplup successfully caused the area to cool down even more. The bolt of freezing energy then struck the Blastoise square in the face as its size would not permit it to dodge. The freezing process began as the Blastoise broke off with an expression of pain.

"Blastoise, get out of there with Rapid Spin or you'll freeze!" cried the Lass. But the worst was inevitable. As soon as Prinplup was finished doing its job, it backed down, sliding over the battlefield from the evident push of the Ice Beam, and moving towards Raine. The Blastoise then fell to the ground, frozen, and fainted under the ice. The battle was over.

"WINNER! Raine Royalblue of Sootopolis City!" announced a random judge.

After his name was called as the winner, the rest of the spectators just couldn't help but mumble aside about the battle. In stead of cheering, they somehow doubted the young coordinator's abilities in battle. The Lass, too, was frightened of his abilities now. Nobody would expect him to be this good... Why so? Was this a grudge match? Was Raine merely letting off some steam from losing to Team Rocket? Or was he pushing himself to the limit to day? Was this exhaustive training?

Raine did seem troubled, but his focus did remain on battles and training. Raine, too, seemed to be a bit different. The once soft blue eyes that he had have changed. The way he looked, it wasn't pleasant at all, as if his eyes were thirsting for Pokemon blood. This was a bit ordinary for Raine when he would get so serious. Synchronized with his Pokemon, Prinplup seemed to act in the same manner.

"Are there any more trainers for me to battle?!" yelled Raine as he stood. He called Prinplup back into its Pokeball, waiting for some other trainer to challenge him. "I've got all day,"

"Thanks!" Lilly smiled back.

The Magikarp let go of the line and jumped back into the water. "So it's like that!" Al's determination went into over drive as Al tried again, this time catching something much stronger, forcing Al to call on all his pokemon to help him. The pokemon in the ater jumped out, giving him a scared face. "A- A Gyarados?!" Al called, reeling in the line quickly.

(sorry guys, my dad was hogging the computer all day...)

Vienna hurriedly ran out to the deck, terrified that it was too late. "Oh no! The competition already started!! I hope I wasn't too late!" She yelled, on the verge of tearing up. She ran next to Al, oblivious of the ferocious Gyarados he was dealing with, and hastily took out her fishing rod.

"SorryguysIwaslate!!" With a panicked but mighty swing, she threw the line into the water.

"I got lost in the ship! But at least my Wooper found a Leftovers Item for me! Hey, are we allowed to send pokemon into the water? I have my Gyarados on me!" Vienna said. Nothing caught her line yet.

(Gaaahh, a few seconds on and I already have to get off! PARENTS. UGHHHH. stressed Please don't continue TOO far ahead, I don't like Vienna being left behind.)

"Ok!" Pikachu stuck it's tongue out at Missy and ran off.
