Eunmi only heard 'free meal'. She stood up abruptly and waggled a finger at Dali.
"We'll battle first, eat after, and then go shopping with the money we saved," she said.
"Osha osha..." Dali said, cocking his head to the side.
"Don't worry, we got this in the bag," Eunmi said, sticking out her tongue. "I'm a master of diversion."
Da Vinci smacked his paw onto his forehead. Eunmi's standard 'diversion' tactics usually involved lifting up her shirt.

((Well my uni work is done for the year. Shan't be any more hold ups with me posting, no siree. I'm also functioning on very little sleep so there's no accounting for post quality))
Talking to pokémon? Like that was even possible.
"Hah, yeah. That'd be useful for sure," Wayne said with a grin. "There weren't that many kids my age where I grew up so I usually ended up just playing with the pokémon. All the kids I used to play with got left behind when I moved to Unova." He trailed off, looking nostalgically to the clouds. Where were they now, he wondered.
The teenaged trainer continued, "There aren't any borders around my town, so the wild pokémon come and go as they please. They're used to people and all, so they'd be friendly. But even then it could get kinda lonely. Just them and me, I mean," he rubbed the back of his head, feeling ever so slightly embarrassed. "Met some cool people in the next town over though, so it's all good."
Wayne jumped up onto a low wall, which ran alongside the road and walked on top of it, a casual synchronised swinging of his arms. "I'm looking forward to going back. My little sister's probably just old enough to be let near the wild pokémon." Hands pocketed and he carried on walking.
"I tell her not to worry but my mom is really apprehensive about that sort of stuff. My dad's the complete opposite. He told me that this one time?" Wayne reached the end of the wall and dropped down next to Salieri, "He said he knocked out a Golem by headbutting it's face. Y'know what else? I actually believe him." Wayne grinned, "My dad's ******** insane."

David sipped his latte, turning to Goliath with a frown. "How shameful, using her pokemon to score a free meal. Let's see how successful her tasteless endeavor turns out." Goliath grunted in agreement. downing his water in one gulp.

Takamaru rushed out onto the field bypassing Cress in the process, and headed straight for his injured pokemon. "Ron...Ron..." mumbled the tired Steel pokemon as he too fainted in a heap. the young trainer scooped up the pokemon and held it lovingly, "you were fantastic! your moves where spot on and everything. Take a rest, you deserve it." whispered the young trainer as he returned the injured pokemon to the pokeball and walked back to Cress whom was holding out his newly earned badge. The youth plucked the badge from the gym leaders hand, "Wow, So this looks like my pokemon's meals are free correct" he said with a lopsided grin. Takamaru reached his badge Case from his pack, and for the first time opened it, inside was a note from his mother that read, Dear Takamaru,
If you are reading this then that means you have successfully earned your first gym badge. I am beyond proud, but you should know, just cause me and your father both took on a gym league challenge does not mean that I expect you too as well, feel free to do what ever you like and ill support you every way that i can.
Love always, Mom Takamaru read the note again and then tucked it back away into the badge case along with the Trio badge. The young boy then bowed to Cress, "thank you for the most vigorous battle, i hope i have grown stronger as a trainer for having over come this" he finished and stood up straight then proceeded to extended his hand towards the water trainer, "until we meet again, right!?"

((Since I'm back from vacation I'll be playing Cress again from now on. Thanks, Jump!))
"Correct," Cress said and he shook Takamaru's hand. "Please refrain from lingering here," he said and he started toward the exit. He paused at the door to turn and say, "it was a great match. And yes, your meal is free."
And then Cress exited the battle area, leaving Takamaru by himself. He, with ease, spotted Cilan and the girl he was shouting about and he approached.
"Hello there," he said with a nod and a smile toward Eunmi. Then his gaze fell on Cilan, "and I assume this is another challenger for me?"

"As long as he's straighter than he looks," Eunmi thought as she got a better look at him. All the waiters appeared pretty metrosexual, but fine by her standards.
"I'm Eunmi," she said, extending a hand cheerfully. "Emi's fine though."

((No problem smile ))
"Not everyone is here just to battle you and Chili, Cress, contrary to popular belief."
Cilan gestured to Dali with a smile. "Emi's chosen Oshawott as her starter, which means that she'll be battling me. And if I win, I get tipped!" Then the green haired waiter turned his attention back to Eunmi. "We can begin our match now that my brother has finished battling, if you would like."

"Right!" Eunmi nodded at Dali. The novice Pokemon gave her a nervous look, but if there was one thing Eunmi was good at, it was feigning confidence. Well, sometimes.
"Yeah, we're gonna win this er... match," she cheered. She waited for some sort of gesture that indicated where she needed to stand or whatever other rules were incorporated in whatever a 'Gym' match was. She hoped it was something like a race or endurance test with weight lifting, but she had seen enough of Cress' battle to know it probably meant an actual battle.
Dali would be fine. Probably.

Cilan entered the arena, and the floor had been appropriately changed. It was now a tough, earthy terrain that was completely level. Once more the stage was neutral.
"We shall each enter a trainer box, and once the match starts you cannot exit or else you're disqualified," he recited as he had done so many times before. "The battle will be a one on one with no items, and will test your knowledge of pokemon types. Once one of our pokemon is knocked out, a victor will be declared."
He clasped his hands and held them behind his back politely with a smile. "Any questions?"

As Wayne expanded upon what Salieri knew of his lifestory, she looked down at the ground. Her smile was barely there anymore as his words got mixed into her thoughts. He spoke about friends he had made, friends that he had left behind…friends in general. The more Wayne talked, the more that Salieri thought he sounded like Moze. Especially when he mentioned a little sister. Between the way he spoke to her now and what he had told her about his parents the night before, it seemed like Wayne had nothing to hide.
She wished she felt the same way.
“Your dad,” she mumbled, barely even a whisper as she walked in a trance. Wayne’s dropping down suddenly snapped her out of her unfocused state as she sprung back to life, bedazzled. “Er, your dad, huh? Yeah, that’s pretty cool. Your dad sounds tough. He sounds like my dad.”
Now that they entered Striaton again, it wasn’t just the two of them walking anymore. Salieri raised her volume to compensate for the city’s noise. And with her increased volume, her normal self returned to full. “Do you know what a Throh looks like? My dad kinda looks like that. He’s short, bald, and he always has a really red face.” She giggled when she thought of him standing beside his pokemon. “He has his own Throh, too. But even though he’s goofy, he’s the best martial artist I’ve ever seen. Other than my brother, I guess.”
Sal absentmindedly ran her fingers along a fence as they walked past a house, barely brushing the tips of them against it’s surface. “We’re adopted you know. Moze and I. It’s pretty obvious since we look nothing like our parents.” She shrugged. “I wasn’t even a year old when Koichi and Sophie took us in, so it makes no difference to me. Still, its interesting to think about what we would’ve been like if we had biological parents. The ‘what-if’ scenario.”
She looked back up to Wayne with her eyes narrowed to make up for the bright sun, although his lanky frame helped hide it from her view somewhat. “But my parents are pretty cool people. Maybe our parents can meet someday.”
Her cocky smile returned. “Hey, I bet my dad could kick your dad’s a**,” she joked half-seriously. It was playful, but given Salieri's streak of competitiveness there was some conviction behind those words.

Takamaru Sprinted from the Arena passing cilan on his way out, he gave a small wave to the green haired triplet and continued on his way out of the gym. On his way out though he ran into a rather large, four armed pokemon, Thus falling over, his Badge case falling out of his pack and opening as he did so.
"awwww" he moaned rubbing his head where he had collided with the pokemon. "Sorry...Need to watch where I'm going..." he mumbled to the pokemon and trainer.

"Hah. Maybe we'll find out one day," Wayne's hand went to his shoulder and he peeked from behind his elbow as they walked, "Of course it'd take some planning. A little deception. Could probably succeed in arranging a fight though."
He swung his arms down and pocketed them again, taking long strides as he looked up to the sky. Building tops imposed on the clear blue and white, the strong sunlight still beating down. "Ahhhhh! How long before we fin-a-lly get therrrre?"
The trainer's head dropped forward, his black hair covering the top half of his face from view, "When we get to the Dreamyard? We should train together," Wayne looked to Salieri with another grin, "I bet if I train with someone strong enough to level the gym leader, I won't have any problems from here out."

"yea yea, I'm fine. just wasn't watching where i was going..." he trailed off taking Dave's Help up but his eyes were locked on the one named goliath. The young boy let out a low whistle, "he sure looks strong, you must be here to take on the gym leaders huh?" he asked picking up his badge case while doing so. "i just finished my battle" he said dusting himself off.

Salieri clasped her hands together behind her head. "Well, maybe not leveled, but I did take him down a notch. Beating a Fire type with Chen Zhen and all." She returned Wayne’s grin with her own. “Yeah, that sounds like a good idea. Then maybe I can figure out why Salem won’t take a hit.”
She took her Eevee’s pokeball out of her bag and spun it on her finger delicately. With her other hand she pointed to a grassy road a little way’s past the gym. “That path over there leads to the Dreamyard. It’s the ruins of some sort of testing facility, I think. Makes you wonder why they decided to keep it around.”
Sal stopped walking abruptly when she saw a familiar figure sitting on the bench outside of the café. He fiddled with the Menger Sponge looped on a chain attached to his belt, not looking up to see the people in front of him. “N?”
The green haired teen looked up. His eyes met Sal’s for a second before going back down to the cube. “Hello Salieri.”
She was flustered. And she didn’t know why. N was sort of awkward, which was unsettling enough. But even when he wasn’t doing something particularly strange she still had trouble talking to him. Especially after last night. She had asked if he wanted to travel with her and she said no. That it wouldn’t work out. Why? Was there something wrong with her? “Er, I didn’t think you’d still be hanging around this gym.”
“I’m waiting to meet trainers that have managed to defeat the gym leaders here. The bond they share with their pokemon is quite interesting to me.” He stood up and dropped the cube, allowing it to dangle at his waist while he faced Wayne and Salieri. "I heard that you defeated Chili in an eventful match.”
The same cocky smile she had on whenever Wayne talked about her victory came back, although this time her face was quite a bit pinker. “Well, you know, it wasn’t that eventful…” Then she recalled her manners and stepped aside while gesturing to Wayne. She didn't want either of the boys to think she was rude. “Oh N, this is my friend Wayne Lee. Wayne, meet N…N…”
Crap. What was his last name? Did he ever tell her? What if he did and she forgot? Maybe he doesn’t have one. What kind of name is N anyway?
“We’ve met before,” N stated, meting Wayne’s eyes rather than Salieri’s as he commented. She let loose a short sigh of relief over not having to linger on his last name any longer. “Wayne, I take it that you’ve been training to rechallenge the Striaton Gym?”

Eunmi rustled through her pockets and eventually retrieved a small black device.
"Does uh," she said, holding up her Pokédex, "this count as an item?" She continued into the trainer box and knelt to nudge Dali forward. The Oshawott looked back at her, his large round eyes staring up at her with concern.
"O-o-osha," he said, gripping his shell defensively.
"You trust me, right?" she said.
"Osha," he nodded.
"Then have a little faith in me," she said, pressing her hand to her chest. "We're in this together."
