I don't... Think that'd actually work considering the actual culture of the flock.

She would have to steal him from a VERY protective mare (as the flock does not share their stallions with outsiders except in cases where there are more Harpy males than females in the canon, which isn't the case as the majority of the flock is a high percentage of Clawed females and a low percentage of clawed stallions within the Canon Universe of the flock). and would have to capture the Harpy stallion force him to follow, which is her since Flock born stallions are raised to be loyal and untrusting of outsiders -- Many will defend themselves and fight just as fiercely as any mare would from an attacker-- would be EXTREMELY difficult and quite possibly lethal considering how the fight goes and his constant struggles and attempts to escape and return to his home. Especially since Hex would have to sleep sometime and while the males are gentle in safe times, they are still quite dangerous and would take the opportunity. Especially since its over a week or so long journey from the Flock Territory and the Hatetalon territory when both people have their minds set on it. It'd take much MORE than that to force one and she'd get caught by hunters and warriors before she got there since he'd be leaving as many signs as possible to follow.

And if he's a 'harpy' stallion, for someone without talon's it'd be pretty difficult to keep the claws contained AND still actually transport him. The Territory is fiercely guarded and males are only allowed near the boarder of it if guarded by a mare (often his current partner or someone who he's assisting/is assisting him with an idea) and within hearing range of guards.

It's a clever idea, and might have worked with a single hippogryph stallion (Since Harpy's and HIppogryphs are approximately the same thing only one's a mutant version of the other mixed with regular so actually LESS Hippogryphy) without a herd protecting him and tricked into it. Heck, if you'd like a hippogryph for it, I have a hippogryph stallion she could capture who's got nothing to do with the flock (Ichtaca Patli) I volunteer for the plotline. However I dont see why its necessary for your girl to become a hatetalon considering the hatetalons HAVE non-hippogryph members so she doesnt have to be one (And reading their information, males are usually cannibalized if they dont escape, so none would stay or be willing to go to the Hatetalons, ESPECIALLY Considering they're both mortal enemies.)

However there is a possibility of taking your plotline and tweaking it to work believably: You could have Hex join the hatetalons (Since she doesnt have to be a hippogryph to join), and then convince Lunadriel of a possible raid on the Flock with a war party -- turn it into a massive group RP where they attack a Flock Camp and raid the spoils, INCLUDING The stallions, and try herding them back to their land as a group (thus making it a bit more believable., thus resulting in a big conflict between the two enemies. In such an RP plot, I'd be willing join in with Taarab and even allow for one of my mares (possibly Kamunyak) to get injured in the attack

Edit: Derp I forgot to mention that another way the plot could work is if she ATTEMPTED To steal a stallion and got in a fight with the mare protecting him and eventually got chased off (or managed to beat her, tried dragging him away with him fighting until guards show up XD), or captures a non-flock male that was on the boarder and the two mares fight for it and then one decides its not worth it and instead tries to chase BOTH out of the territory.

I support everything Mind said!

If you would be interested in the solo plot, a hippogryph would work fine for your kidnapping plottage.

She's also right, we do have non-harpy members. Evil tends to override breed, though some form of claws or feathers tend to help.

As for the raid plot, I'd be up for that too. It sounds like quite a bit of fun.

I will chat this up more when I'm not pressed for time.

I WOULD LOVE THIS!

Galla as a guard would loev to join in and this would be the perfect opportunity for one of her daughters (mine) Yvaine Vaire to get her scar across her cheek.

So I'd lvoe for this to happen.

Though if it doens't I will be looking for someone to injure her while she stands up for herself or someone else.

biggrin I know Kamiki's mare from the Hatetalons was poking around the herd's territory, and while the flock has moved to a new location and secured a sizeable territory (And flanked on one side by Trolls and the other by Treebacks XD And bottomed with "Skinwalker territory" where the cursed graveyard is,) They still consider the hatetalons one of their most hated of enemies.

Speaking of the hatetalons and how they're someone the flock reeeeeeeeeaaaaaally hate, I've been working on some Mythos for the flock and I'd like everyone to look it over.

I figure they likely HAVE been for aaaaages too, and its not a recent feud. I always figure the different families within the flock likely have different stories/legends as to how the hatetalons came to be (just as the hatetalon's likely have their own story of how they came to be and how the Flock came to be). XD So here are TWO different legends the flock likely has about the Hatetalon's origins: Likely depends on the family/clan you ask and which version which one they grew up on lol!

Just keep in mind: this is just how the FLOCK see's it an likely has nothing to do with the actual.... Hatetalon Origin.

Flock Legend on Hatetalons Existance: Magic Mockeries

Long ago a Stallion Shaman of a different herd grew resentful, wanting to keep his ignorant opinion that males should rule over females but wanted to dominate and possess a Harpy Mare, longing for their beauty and strength and to prove his superiority by controlling them.

The stallion however knew he could not overpower the mares of the flock and was a weak and cowardly man, and would not dare enter the territory, knowing our priestesses magic was stronger than his own, and the Spirits of good favored us. So instead he turned to the spirits, begging for a mare to be created in the image of the Flock, to be his lover and servant.

However, evil spirits answered his cry, but did not do quite what he had wanted, and created a mockery of a Harpy Mare out of the mud, and fired her into a hallow clay shell, painted pretty colors and filled her as their vessel, breathing life into her and her shell into flesh. But inside she remained a Hallow creature filled with evil.

She lied sweet nothings into his ear and acted as his slave, and as soon as she was round with child, she murdered the foolish stallion and bathed in his blood, feeding from his Flesh. The dark spirits then looked at their reflection in the river and crooned at themselves, pleased with their beauty. But she, like the stallion who wished for her, grew jealous of the Flock, knowing they were more beautiful and strong than she ever would be. The Evil spirits craved for more blood to form its evil brood, and wanted the blood of the flock.

They are the Hatetalons, the cursed ones who hide their evil in a mockery of the Flock. To this day, these Hallowmares filled with Evil spirits and their wicked spawn lurk at our borders, longing for the blood and flesh of colts and stallions that venture from the safety of their protectors, and little fillies who don't learn to fight and venture alone past the borders. But today you are safe, for the Flock is strong, and they are so very far away. Stay close and grow strong. And one day Good will win.

Flock Legend on Hatetalons Existance: Act of Treason

As all know, the Great Mother spirit, Then Flesh, was blessed with Three daughters of Harpy blood. They were strong, and beautiful, and bore many daughters. The youngest of these Grandchilden of the Great Mother Spirit however was a weakly child named Kitkun, and cruel in nature. While her sisters captured stallions and kept them safe away, only punishing when a stallion was mean, Kitkun would often take the nicest, strongest, and most loyal of the stallions and torment them when it was her turn to watch them, angered by their loyalty, and would take all of them as her personal toys, refusing to share with her sisters. She would also often argue and heckle her sisters. This gave Kitkun the nickname "Hatetalon" for she was a spiteful and cruel mare.

Meanwhile, the Eldest daughter of the three mares was named Avalyn, and she was the most beautiful and strong of the daughters, and captured many males on her own but only bred with them to reproduce, allowing the other mares to enjoy them for pleasure as well. She guarded the flock and fought fiercely to keep them safe, and she was often round with Child, the most like the Great Mother Spirit, and even gifted in Flight, having been born with the blessing of wings.

However Hatetalon grew jealous of her Eldest sister, unable to bear healthy children or win a fight against anything but the weaker stallions. One night she asked her Sister-in-arms for help "Sister Avalyn, Sister Avalyn. I have found a herd of deer with a Pure white doe while out hunting and wish to present her to Seda the Oracle-Mother, but you are our best hunter and would keep her hide clean. Please, join me in the hunt?"

Avalyn smiled, glad to help her family, and hopeful that this was a change in Hatetalons way, "Oracle-Mother would be honored by her hide, and our sisters would be blessed by her flesh, for she is an offering from the spirits, and we can join together in the hunt."

The two traveled for a day, and Little Hatetalon whined as the night fell, "Sister Avalyn, Sister Avalyn. I am tired and afraid of the dark."

"Then you shall sleep, and I will keep watch" The beautiful Avalyn stayed up through the night, and Skinwalkers prowled. She stayed the night fighting, and did not rest before they traveled once more.

The next night, Little Hatetalon cried again, "Sister Avalyn, Sister Avalyn. I am tired and hungry.."

"Then you shall sleep, and I will hunt." The Mare Avalyn spent the night hunting, and found a young boar.. The mare returned in the morning and hatetalon ate all of the food and even sucked marrow, leaving none for the hunter Avalyn, and without food or rest the two traveled once more.

The third night little Hatetalon Cried "Sister Avalyn, Sister Avalyn. I am thirsty"

"Then sleep, And I shall find you water." But the only water she could find was the dew on the leaves, which she gathered and gave to her sister, and they traveled once more, her throat parched, stomach empty, and eyes tired.

On the fourth cooed to her sister, "Sister Avalyn, Sister Avalyn. You look tired, cold, and hungry. Sleep and I will hunt for food and furs tonight. Tomorrow we will have the deer."

Pleased by her sisters kindness, The mare laid down to rest, "Thank you Sister Kitkun." - She called her by her true name as she was kind to even her cruelest of Sisters " And tomorrow we shall hunt together."

"yes Sister Avalyn." However Little Hatetalon went through the woods until the eldest mare was asleep, and quickly lashed her throat with her claws and teeth, mauling the Kindly mare in her exhausted and weakened sleep. But the act transformed the mare, and no matter how she washed she could not get the blood from her coat, her claws stained red with blood, her coat instead growing more and more red with it as she tried to remove it. Desperate the mare took Sister Avalyn's coat, wearing it to look like her instead, and buried her in the woods.

At home, Seda the Oracle-Mother wept for her daughter Avalyn, having a vision of her death, and sent three guards to find them.

"Sister Avalyn Sister Avalyn!" they cried, as they went through the forest, "Sister Kitkun Sister Kitkun!"

Little Hatetalon cried, "Sister Kitkun died and was buried. Only I, Sister Avalyn survived."

The guards cried for little Kitkun, thinking she had passed, and began their walk back.

On the first night, Little Hatetalon cried, "Guards, I am tired and Thirsty"

The guards looked confused, "Sister Avalyn, you are the best at finding water, and have been through this way. Can you not find water?"

Embarrassed and worried they might find her a fraud, the mare sniffed, "Of course I can" And she traveled through the night, and found nothing, not sleeping at all.

The night night she cried, "Guards, I'm Tired and Hungry"

"Sister Avalyn, you are our best hunter."

"Of course." But Kitkun could find nothing but a slim rabbit, while the guards each found a fattened duck.

The next night the group was stalked by skinwalkers, And the guards cried out "Sister Avalyn Sister Avalyn, you are our best warrior. Help us fight!"

Little hatetalon however tried to flee, and was surrounded. The skinwalkers attacked and tore off the skin she was wearing before the guards could kill the cursed ones, revealing her for Sister Kitkun beneath the skin she wore.

"Aya! Sister Avalyn is dead, and Hatetalon killed her!" The guards cried out, wailing as the mare Fled into the Forest, never to be a part of the Flock again.

Her hatered grew as she knew she would never go home, and wanted what the Flock wanted. Her daughters, weak and twisted as she was took her nickname as their own, and they became the Hatetalons. They hunt as scavengers on the unwary of the flock, and grow in hopes of one day destroy us. May we grow stronger as the spirits watch over us, so they may one day fall and we remove their pestilence from our world. Praise be to the Great spirit mother and the Sacred Trio who will aide our victory!

Ha, I like those both, though the second one is probably rooted in a bit more 'truth.'

I'll have to get with Luna to develop an Origin story for the Hatetalons (for the Hatetalons sake). They would most likely believe to the be original and stronger ones, of course, with the Flock being the weakling populists smile

Yesssss. It'd be awesome for both herds to have opposing propaganda mythology against the other one that is PART of what makes them forever enemies.... Even though the bigger reason being those liiiittle differences in behavior.. With one being pretty.. Well hateful and violent and cannibalistic, and the other being just territorial, prideful, vain, and cannibalism is NOT something they practice... At least in most situations. Donner party starvation survival situations would be frowned on but be forgiven if they go through a long hard ritual to have the sins removed...

...And who knows, I've yet to be able to hammer everything out with Dixie on the spirituality, Perhaps in those rare times of hardship where a priestess might choose to ritualistically sacrifice herself with the aide of her 'Spirit Sisters' (Other Priestesses) to talk to the spirits directly in hopes of gaining their favor and tipping the favor of the spirit wars from evil winning to good prevailing, there might be some blood mixed with something narcotic drinking by the others to tie themselves to her so they can be more attuned to her journey and go in a trance. I know they use their bones and feathers for special ceremonies. I do know they sometimes threaten cannibalism to scare new stallions, but I can see it as being all bark since they DO see themselves as the descendants of angeni and cannibalism is a Kalona and Skinwalker trait. XD

ESPECIALLY since both flocks seem to have a Looooong standing tradition of hating each other, and we pretty much treat The Flock as being ancient and hidden away in the mountains to the west like the hippogryphs and Ulun'suti were to the east (...Though those were also in the jungle temple area like the B'ak'tun boys I made, and Western swamp as well, which shows that its quite possible both flocks ACTUALLY formed from Mutations in Hippogryphs, as they ARE a sort of mutant hippogryph, and their area just... lacked the Ulun'suti powers keeping people away, they just instead used extreme terrritorialism and their advantage of being superior on rocks and trees. It WOULD explain why the flock had a temple that looks somewhat like it was made for them but now distrust humans, since Canon lore said prehistoric humans hunted them both and they hid away, there might have been humans that worshiped them and then betrayed them, thus NO TRUSTING THEM ANYWHERE NEAR THE TERRITORY. Lol)

You see these shackles, baby, I'm your slave.

Name: Faithofthefallen
Soquili's name & cert: Ignazio
Reason for joining: Ignazio has an absolute terror of commitment after his mother leaving them while he was still in his basket. As an adult among his native herd, the Debbani, he becomes a bit of a playboy although nothing ever comes of his dalliances. He is too afraid to let any female in other than his sister. I feel like he would never willingly stay around a female for enough time to get to know her and possibly fall in love in his current state, and among the Debbani there is no one who can or would force him to stick around, so I want him to be captured and put into a situation where he is constantly exposed to females, eventually letting his guard down and moving his development foreword.
How did he end up being captured?:
Ignazio is very overprotective of his sister Kynreeve, when she decides to go off on her own outside of their homeland and forbids him to accompany her, he trails along behind so he can be there in an instant if she needs protection. Unfamiliar with the lands outside of the desert, they accidentally pass through an area bordering the Harpy's territory and Ignazio, alone and unsuspecting, is captured.
Will you be escaping later? If yes, how?: Honestly it depends on the plots and the relationships he develops within the flock. I feel like he would be really homesick initially and crave any chance to escape, but I know there are descendents of soquili from his culture within the flock so if he got to know them, it may help alleviate that. His sister and father may launch a rescue attempt later on, if he is unhappy and hasn't found any true connection to the other members of the flock, he will probably go with her and move on in life. If he finds love and/or strong friendships, he will refuse to go with them and stay in his new home.
AIM?: Nope
Do you acknowledge that you understand the Flock's practices?: Yes!

You're a long way from home, boy. XD Approved!

If you'd like a capturing Rp, I have a few mares that'd work That you can see here

Only one that wouldn't really work is Kamunyak since she's pretty petite.

... I mean really petite...

What I'm trying to say is she's sorta has a hard time capturing stallions since she's so small-

Kamunyak: >_< I THINK SHE GETS THAT I'M SHORT

- that in order to overpower them it'd usually cause waaaaay too much harm. But I have Laveda, who's a priestess, Risuleri who's a dancer, Gersemi who's a healer (Preventative Medicine and rehabilitation.. SPA PONY 8'D) And Vaniania, who's a drum maker and player.
PostPosted: Thu Dec 20, 2012 5:30 pm

Kamunyak is... fun sized xD -flails-
I love it! Is her sister petite as well?

Yay!
I know, and considering he will have spent ages trying to convince Kynreeve of the dangers of leaving their homeland on her own only to get captured himself... there's a bit of irony in this situation.

I'd love capture rp ^-^
Perhaps Vaniania? When she's gathering live animals or something, he totters across her path and gets his butt kicked?

You see these shackles, baby, I'm your slave.

Name:sbuggy166
Soquili's name & cert: Premaz
Reason for joining:well you see, he himself has no intentions of joining, well not at first. he is currently out on a soul searching adventure. he left his herd to find his purpose in life. Premaz originates from the cerynei forests were he was raised in a herd that believed in spreading beauty throughout the lands. the herd had the practice of arranged marriage in place, but he was never able to mate because the fires swept through the forest on the day he was to find out who his mate was. anyways, long story short he basically comes from a herd that follows the harpies system of mating, except its switched and the females have the control. i think it would be very interesting to see how he interprets this. oh and i would also like to add that he has hair styling skills...hes never done feathers, but would never back down from a challenge like that.
How did he end up being captured?: Premaz was following a rumor about a society of beautiful woman who danced and sang all day, but he never expected that it was true. anyways, he passes by their lands, and gets captured that way.
Will you be escaping later? If yes, how?: i do not intent for him to escape, well at least not for a very long time. he will be staying with the flock until he is an old man, and when he reaches that point he will ask the queen for permission to travel to the mountains were he will die in peace.
AIM?: sbuggy166
Do you acknowledge that you understand the Flock's practices?: yes, i have read through as much as i could find about everything flock related and understand all the customs and roles and what-nots.

@Faithofthefallen

XD Yeah Izulai is also 'funsized' though she thinks the flock is dead and is off starting her own flock (...That I need to get the IT thread set up since currently it's just her and her daughter lol Shame on me for stepping away from it when my computer crashed! XD)

But yes! If you'd like to start it up I could indeed capture him with Vaniania. biggrin

sbuggy166

Approved :3 I have a couple ladies available for Capture RP if you're at all interested. Though admitedly, I doubt the queen would allow him to leave like that, but they do have their own 'retirement' area where males and females are pretty much free to do as they please without the restrictions.

Sure! Start one up so I have an idea of where your boy is/what he's doing? It works best of he's near where the trees are marked with claw hewn symbols in the woods surrounding the wooded territory so we can be sure that he's at least within the 'outsiders from non-neighboring herds are open game' range.

Hey sister, go sister, soul sister, flow sister~

Name: CrimsonCutie666
Soquili's name & cert: Recitative
Reason for joining: The Flock is amazing and I've been admiring it for ages but haven't really had a Soq who could. Rec is an OC of mine with a lot of history and I love rping with her.
IC reason for joining: Recitative is brand new to this area. She comes from a place with a very strict moral code and rules and so finally being free of that is daunting to her to a level that makes her uncomfortable. Having been ruled by her mother her entire life she seeks a herd to call her own that's led by females. When she heard about The Flock she grew curious about them. She's not exactly sure if she can do the whole not having one true love but in the end she figures she should try to join to see how she feels about it. After all, she left a hated betrothed behind and isn't all too keen to get back into the whole mated thing. She's hoping these females could teach her how to be strong in her own right instead of relying on others and that her gift for music and her slight magical ability with it might bring more joy to others.
Desired rank and reason: Musician. Recitative is gifted musically. She was born with a magically enhanced ability with it, making most things musical come natural. While not able to do much with it besides learn things about music faster, and being better at it then others, she can sometimes use it as a weapon. Her magic can enhance it this way. Her favorite way of using it being a high pitched scream that can temporarily deafen others.
AIM?: usacutietay666
Do you acknowledge that you understand the Flock's practices?: Absolutely. While Rec may have problems at first I'm hoping to develop her character over time to fully enjoy the Flock.
