A completely radical overreaction, but it's because vampires are among the most popular of supernatural humanoid creatures (the other three being witches, werewolves (or other anthro-morphic humanoids), and Xiang shi/zombies). xD

True, Dhaku. Vamps haven't had a new radical change in them since the early interpretations.

Vampires are fun... Naruto has a type of vampire too. ^_^;

Vampires themselves are tired and old - a mechanic that is used to give some work "an edge". How the vampires are used, however, is what makes the work - and, indeed, the mechanic - an interesting and or exciting edge.

Although, I do miss the days when vampires were just murdering machines who would sooner rip your throat out than form a lovey-dovey relationship with you.
