this is one of the things I hate about 2e. The ******** man, 2 hit points? My original gaming group would have said "What's the matter, you can do it, man!"

That works for me. Did he also say how we're doing languages? Do we just get a number based on int or are we spending NWP slots on them?

Number based on int. Wizards can exchange them for NWP or NWP for langauges.

Ooh, are we using the Weapon Type vs. Armor Modifiers rules?

It always bugged me in 3/3.5 that a chain shirt offered as much protection against being beaten with a mace as it did against being cut with a sword. I might start using rules like this in my 3.5 games...

Edit: Also, can I take hide armor? It's heavier, but cheaper, and provides better armor. I don't see anywhere what effect it would have on my skills though, so I'm not sure if it's an option.

Edit 2: On page 22, it says under Number of Languages that the number listed is the number of languages a character knows in addition to his native language. Also, it says if you're using proficiencies, you get extra proficiencies equal to the number of extra languages you get. Do either of those things apply? Right now my character has 4 languages total, 2 weapon proficiencies and 3 non-weapon proficiencies for being a rogue class, and one useless background proficiency that I rolled. Do I get to add 4 more? It says "These extra proficiency slots can be used however the player desires," so I assume I can make them either weapon or non-weapon. Alternately, I'm getting this all wrong somehow, or we're simply not using this stuff, so let me know if I don't actually get these.

How I'm playing it is that you do not start out automatically knowing your race's native language. This is because you might be a human who grew up with elves or an elf with fey, or something. your number of languages is how many you know. I'm also doing so that a mage can trade languages for Non-weapon proficiencies, or NWP for languages.

I'm not giving proficiencies = number of languages.

As for Hide armor... uh... going to check that.

Hide affects your rogue skills the same as Studded Leather *points to the padded/studded/hide entry*

If I was using the weapon vs armor type, then studded would have some differences to hide that might be why you'd by it... same for scale or ring vs chain.

But I'm not using that, cause it'd be a pain to keep track of.

Alright, I made the change to hide armor, so he's wearing layered leathers now. I also made some other gear changes, based on weight and cash available, and some revised ideas. Is there anything that seems to be missing or obviously wrong that anyone sees?

my druid needs to gather mistletoe on full moons with a specially prepared gold or silver sickle. Naturally, no information is given about said sickles, so might I assume they cost 25gp, as much as a normal holy item?
