Well, according to my mathematical calculations and judging by the exact angle that my shadow is angeling down towards my brown-colored carpet, it would be concluded that I want Gold.

Frankly, Twilight was the first book I actually liked. That was, until I realized that there were other books a lot better and more intriguing. could honestly say that I have all four books, just because they were on sale when I saw them and that they were the ones that pushed me to actually read.

I don't understand why there are so much haters out there. I believe that Meyer created a very unique concept of vampirism. She created a huge impact on many people--whether it be haters or lovers--which, I think is one of the things many authors strive for. Her books are being talked about by thousands of people and she's earning quite a bit of money from this, too.

It's true that it is overrated, clichéd, etc. And a lot of vampire--and some paranormal--books are being compared to Twilight. But if you were an author, isn't that what you'd want? To have people talk about your books?

Sure, the protagonist is almost suicidal--without the almost. Sure she falls in love with a creeper. But that's not really the concept of it. It's the forbidden love between the two. Why would you question her characters if it was her creation? Her book. Her story. Her concept.

That's the same as shunning down Dracula due to the fact that he falls in love with a mortal. The thing is, Twilight is Meyer's creation, sparkly vampires or not, she made a lot of money out of it--not much authors makes that much sales.

Also, for haters who say that it's boring are rather biased. Compared to other books out there, Twilight isn't boring at all. I would prefer it over Moby d**k or whatever.

mmkay. I'm ready to get flamed.

I studied up on Mormons (what I should have done in the first place)--so sorry everyone, I should stand on my own ground and not what someone else says. And I think you guys should do the same. Stop this arguing over nothing and find out what you're really reading/watching--agreeing/disagreeing with for yourselves. That being said, I'm not spending another penny on SM. That's me.

Stephenie Meyer is a genius.

A lonely genius that understands all the lonely hearts in the world.

*~*~

As for me, I dislike and don't care about S.Meyer and her Twilight series. But I respect her for understanding lonely, naive, loveless little-girls' hearts. I read the first book and never finished it. Well, her writing style is a "meh" for me. I think she's just ruining vampires and bedtime stories by combining them together. Also, I can't stand the "angst" or other words that can replace "mental issues" in the books.

In addition, if I was B.Swan, I'll call FBI immediately as E.Cullen is nothing but creep. If I was E.Cullen I'll rob a bank.

I don't totally hate her. I just hates some of what she does. I grew up Mormon just like Meyer mind you so when you hear that her third book (I think don't quote me on it) is basically a censored porno I find it useless. I also don't approve of her writing style of making the reader place themselves as Bella because of the lack of reinforced descriptive words. I also find that the third books sound have never been created. I also find her characters unrealistic ex. Creepy Edward watching Bella out of her window and the fact Bella is a Mary Sue (Take the test).

The book are a different story of course. I approve they get people to read but I do like giddy people that are full of themselves and say 'Twilight is the best you hater' (Something that my sister responded with 'So what. You hate Hilter right. You're a hater' to get her point across). I also like to add that there is a growing tread (Some linked to Twilight, but not all or a lot) of teens declaring themselves what they are not and not in a 'imaginary way'.

I read Twilight, I enjoyed it for a long time but then it got super hyped up. It was way better before everyone knew about it. I respect that it's Meyer's creation and everything but I'm honestly just sick of hearing about it stare

Now enough with my opinions, because I really don't care about them. What do YOU think about her?

Honestly, I've tried not to: but I may finally cave and read Twilight (my daughter tried to get e to do so, years ago). I've seen people complain about the "helpless female" stereotype, and the "equating blood and sex", and I think that, maybe, I should finally take a look for myself.

Of course, part of the reason for my change of mind is that I've recently read Eragon, which was actually not a bad book. I could see te parts that people may have thought were plagiarized, and it may have a trope or several, but overall, it was an entertaining read, and is that not what we strive to do when we write? Aside from writing for ourselves, of course. We start off writing for ourselves, because we get "what-if" ideas in our heads, and extrapolate.on them.

I need to scout around. I think Terror (that's my affectionate nickname for my daughter, short for Bunny Terror) left her copy here.

Somewhere around the beginning, she describes Edworm's Edward's eyes as being "ocher". Ocher isn't a word. She obviously meant "ochre", and it's a little detail, but things like that irritate me to no end.

Edworm. Serious win

Ocher seems to be the recent,y established, Americanized spelling. I would have opted for "ochre", to. It's te spellnig I grew up with; but they changed a lot of things, in the past decade or so, and even in the past year.

That's the British versus American spellnig for you. Writing papers for school, I'd use British spelling and get bad marks. Most of the interesting books I read were British. Now, they Americanize the British books, which is not so much fun.

I wish they didn't Americanize so much. There is a multitude of things (books included) that are much better and more entertaining in their original form...

Agreed. This trend, to "Americanize" things... While their intentions aren't bad, the results are not so good. And my mind still boggles, that they would translate English into...English.

Indeed. I wonder why Americans seem to have such a phobia when it comes to literature from other nations...?

I think it's more a misguided educational attempt as an addendum to the PC Police. Uniform language = equality, something like that. Only thing is, they're really, really confused, and everything should instead be translated into Esperanto to confuse the h377 out of everyone, and not just a select few.
