City hall was just as busking as the busy streets, people coming and going on their busy schedules. Houou held the door open and let Artemis walk inside ahead of him. As passed through, he quickly released his grip on the door and caught up to walk at her side. Houou had never met Magnus' contact here in Takumi so he had no way of knowing who to confront about a mission. Not wanting to raise any red flags by asking questions Houou merely led Artemis around city hall where they pretended to explore the building. Houou however constantly looked through his mask, analyzing everyone within eyesight. Magnus' operation was tight as usual, there we no signs of his organizations presence here.
"just follow my lead Phoenix, a friend should reveal them-self soon."
Houou whispered to his friend casually.

"'Scuse, sir, but if you want to wander around you'll need to sign the visitor's log."
High-pitched, nasally, and dragging on just long enough to really dig its claws into one's ears, the voice was grating enough it seemed intentional. A woman in well-tailored but drab clothing stood nearby with a clipboard in hand. On it was a sheet, a pencil that was tethered to it, and an envelope peeking out from between the papers. The woman looked thoroughly bored.
"If you're here on leisure, we could use a gofer. What say you to a bit of hard work, chappy?"
A slight shift of her thumb slid the envelope just a slight bit farther out of the bundle.
Envelope Contents
Some cargo was lost off the river port. Fetch it and return it to the ship Sigmund. ((Mission: Dive Team.)) A guide is needed to escort a traveling historian from the main streets to the ruined Armistead Barracks. The path's a bit overgrown and infested with hostile wildlife, so he's asked for a cleared route if possible to avoid ruining his papers. ((Mission: Pathfinding.)) A gambler is trying to run off without paying her debts. Find a redhead named Tsunate and remind her to stop by the Scribes and Scraps before skipping town. Scary-looking people preferred, but we take all comers. ((Mission: Reminder (Rogue).)) "My cat's missing! Please, find Mr. Chinstrap!" That's what this little girl told us. Find the cat and bring it back here. It's probably near the port, sniffing the fishies. ((Mission: Find [X].)) We've got a couple of counterfeiters trying to leave town before they're caught. Both pierced from head to toe. Post up near the gates and get their coin. ((Mission: Toll Road (Rogue).))

What a sad excuse for a shinobi Houou was. Even with his attention on locating Magnus' contact, he still managed to get startled by the woman's loud voice. He felt as though he was being scolded by a superior in school. Quickly adjusting himself hoping That Artemis hadn't noticed his startled jump, Houou began to walk in the direction of the well dressed woman. Houou knew that his usual charm wouldn't work on this one, that is until she gestured at the clipboard.
"I apologize for my blatant ignorance ma'am. This will never happen again."
Houou said flashing a bright smile. Taking up the clipboard and stealthily sliding the envelope out and into his coat sleeve, Houou signed him and Artemis' name on the log. However the secretary would notice that the names listed were simply Turtle & Phoenix.
Handing her the clipboard, Houou made a head gesture to Art and swiftly made way for the door.
Artemis followed her partner, grinning from behind her mask as she inspected the building. She was curious about the kind of friends Houou was making - seemingly good ones, but you could never know for sure. She didn't have to wonder for long. A woman appeared with a clipboard, talking about signing in.
Artemis wasn't sure if they knew each other at first, but anyone offering an envelope full of ryo-making opportunities just had to be a friendly, regardless of how well acquainted. She opened her mouth to accept, but decided to let Houou make the final decision just in case this wasn't a contact he was expecting or trusting of.
Once it was handled, she followed her partner out the door.

Houou walked up to the receptionist and signed his and Artemis’ alias onto the clipboard. All while covertly sliding the envelope caintaining the missions list. They had all been crossed off with the exception of the car rescue mission.
“My friend here has the recovered Ryo from the counterfeiters, we also forcibly took the payment owed to scribes and scraps. The redhead gave us a bit of trouble. ”
Artemis followed Houou's lead and revealed two pouches full of ryo. "We punished them real good, too." She couldn't help but smile at the memories.

The receptionist snatched the clipboard up once the duo had signed in, made a show of looking at the names, then retrieved the envelope and took a peek inside. With a disapproving tut she slipped it into a drawer and counted out the duo's pay.
"That cat's probably fine anyway," she muttered, sounding almost bitter. "A good punishment is all they needed. I hope you enjoy your stay here in Takumi."
Her tone was definitely dismissive, but her bad mood didn't seem to be aimed specifically at the two visitors. Rather, it seemed to stem mostly from one of the files she had open on her desk, which was full of an endless supply of numbers scrawled in tiny columns. Bookkeeping at its worst.

Houou was a bit afraid to even say thank you. The receptionist was either very unhappy with her job, or needed some love in her life. Unfortunately, Houou wasn’t a therapist or interested in dating someone so angry. So he too his payment and departed back through the entrance with Artemis.

Izengo strode confidently into the city hall. He kept his eyes open, looking about curiously to take everything in.
This place is a dump, he thought to himself, barely managing to keep the sneer from curling his lip in disdain. When I'm in charge, there will be some major changes around here.
Still, the future was not going to come to him. the only way that he would achieve his goals and recieve what he rightly deserved was if he worked for it. And that meant starting at the bottom. Again.
He let out a little sigh, and then looked around for someone official he could talk to. Surely there would be a secretary or a clerk or someone that he could talk to who would have some idea where he could start his inevitable rise to power?

At a semicircular desk in the front lobby there sat a bespectacled woman in well-tailored but drab clothing. She looked a bit preoccupied at first, but she immediately diverted her attention to the visitor when she noticed him.
"Sign in here," she called over to him in a nasally voice. She tapped a clipboard on the edge of the desk. "If you're here for work, there's currently demand for miners and farmers. If you're here for pleasure, go get lost in one of the shops."
Artemis missed Houou already, but he wouldn't be gone too long. Konoha wasn't the place for him, she figured, and it wouldn't tempt him to stay much like Kumogakure did to her. But in the meantime, she could catch up to him in skill and reputation, maybe surprise him on his return with some wild stories. "Hi again!" She greeted to the secretary, signing 'Phoenix' after the other guest there right now. "Do you have any more errands at the moment?"

Izengo strode over to the woman and studied the clipboard for a moment, as if he'd never seen one before. Then he wrote his name down in his personal curly handwriting.
I'm looking for work," he said, flashing the woman a warm, pleasant smile that didn't quite reach his icy blue eyes. "Mining, if you would be so kind."
He ignored the cheery girl who had come in behind him. There would be time enough for dealing with people later. Right now, all of his attention was focused on the secretary before him as schemes and plans whirled through his mind.

"Head to the mines. If you don't have a helmet or pickaxe, you'll get one there." The secretary clearly didn't think Izengo was anyone special, but she looked at Artemis much the same way, so perhaps it wasn't personal. For the girl, the secretary fished out a sheet detailing miscellaneous jobs that were available around the city, then added: "Like I told this guy, mining and farming are currently in demand. If you want something else, take it from this sheet."

Clean-Up Detail: There was recently a mishap at the Scribes and Scraps involving a pie and a bundle of low-powered explosives. Cleaners wanted. Maintenance: The road in front of the Silver Forge has seen some wear recently and is turning into a mud pit. We need laborers to fix that. Material Retrieval: There's a flower growing near the crossroads that would be a good match for an outfit we're making. You'll recognize it by its strong aroma and its blue petals and red stamen. Deliver it to the Steel Thread. Performance: Put on a performance and get us some customers! Stop by the Swaying Yew today! Pest Control: There's a den of foxes near The Forge. Either kill them or move them elsewhere, they're causing problems.

Izengo was not phased by her indifference. Sure, no-one knew him now. But one day, that would all change.
He turned away, and nodded briefly to the girl before striding away. There was no time to lose. The sooner he began...
Artemis inclined her head as she accepted the entirety of the sheet. "Thank you!" These weren't difficult tasks, though most of them weren't fun either. That was fine. She had some time to kill and at least the foxes would be an interesting conflict. She was happy to do something about all her free time regardless. "See ya soon~" She turned around and left the secretary to handle her business.
