He could feel himself growing tired. She kicked him, the same place on his shin and he found it hard to put weight on that leg. But at the same time he managed to place a punch to her stomach. The cold in this place though, at such a high elevation, was starting to affect his speed as well. Still, he pushed on. He had to push on. It was for Nurse Cricket. No matter how absolutely helpless he felt he had to.

He just had to.

She was also showing signs of desperation though. A punch to his face, and he only managed a weak counter blow to her arm as she was too slow to pull it back. But it seemed that a weak blow was enough as she stumbled backwards.

Had...had he really won? His legs were threatening to give out and it was all he could do to stay standing.

With Yin's last attack done, the ghost ghoul dissipated with a cuss or six, clearly unhappy with the fact that this boil was going to be running off with her plant!

The plant itself at least had not been trampled during the fight. But now there was the task of digging it up and replanting it.

ONE MORE THING

Yin now needs to repot that plant! An easy enough task. Just roll a d4 and get an even number!

HOWEVER.

The plant has HP. For each fail it loses 1 HP. You need to bring it back to Cricket with at least 1 HP.

PLANT'S HP: 5/5

Yin tried not to sigh with relief when the ghoul dissipated. It...it was necessary. But now he had something else to do, and that was actually getting the plant. He got the bag, removing the shovel and small clay pot, moving back to the plant to carefully examine it. Flush of red under the leaves, what looked like a lot of leaves, and leaves that were pointed.

He put the small shovel into the ground beside the plant, working carefully, not sure what he was doing exactly, trying to work his way quickly but carefully, knowing that this plant had to be rare indeed. He finally worked it from the ground, putting it into the pot, hoping there was nothing more to be done.

The shovel back into the bag Yin turned clutching the bag in one hand and the potted plant in the other, stressed out as he could possibly be, and heading back down to where he had left the Nurse.

The plant seemed pretty damn happy.

BACK TO THE FUT- CRICKET!!

Same as before with the dark tunnel! Roll 1d10 and get 3 or below to get back out, Cricket loses 1 HP for each roll you fail.

The plant might have been happy, but Yin was not. Yin was stressed and trying to get back as quickly as possible. It probably would have went better if he was not trying to be careful with the plant. Oh, and if he had not gotten lost in the tunnel.

Yin was trying, he really was. But it was pitch black, and he was lost. He was no longer certain if he was heading back to the Nurse or back up toward the top.

He had to hurry. He had to. He was starting to get desperate, unseeing as he tried to move in the darkness.

Yin finally emerged from the tunnel. He stumbled with relief over toward the nurse. He was such a good boil. "I--I got it."

Cricket had gone back to missing pieces again. Or rather, it looked like her arm was trying to get away from her, having crawled several yards away from the Nurse.

Either way, she used her good arm to give him a thumbs up and a wry smile.

Yin faltered, almost losing his grip on the plant as he saw the state the nurse was in. Somehow she seemed...worse than when he had left her.

He needed another set of hands. He tried to shift the bag, tucking it under his arm, attempting to collect the arm to take back to her, the look of someone that was truly at their wits end and horrified leaking through as he tried to be strong. Tried to help her. He was not going to sob or whimper. That would just be undignified.

Not even her smiling at him or the thumbs up could help him. "We will go back and get help," desperation tinged his voice as he tried to do all the things. "The blue medicine, maybe it will help again..."

Was...was there even any left? He had pretty much just been pouring it out on the ant lion...but maybe a few drops were still in the bottle? If that would even be enough to help, it had not done that great of a job before.

He had no idea what to do with the arm.

"Phantom Illness is not exactly something one cures. You just...survive through it until it works its course." she explained, the thumb of the arm that Yin had picked up twiddling itself as though it was trying to twiddle with another, though her other hand did nothing.

"I'd suggest not leaving me here unless you want my....pieces....to wander off..." she added, then sighed.

"Though the easiest way to go would be to dissipate me and wait for me to reform down at the train station."

He had no idea what illness she might be talking about. Phantom Illness? Still...no, ohana means family, family means no one gets left behind he refused to leave her here. He was going to get her down to the train station and everything was going to be okay. He was going to make everything be okay. He could do it. He could...

Dissipate her. Dissipating her would be easiest. "No..." he barely breathed the word, not wanting to hear what she was suggesting. He could make this all work. He could do everything, she was relying on him. He could not just. "I will get you down to the train station," he promised, voice strained as he tried to figure out how to maneuver everything as he set the bag down and reached out towards her to try to help her up.

Then he accidentally dropped her arm and as his hand blurred, trying to catch it before it hit the ground he might have accidentally swiped her leg with his claws.

The scratch caused every marking in Cricket's body to suddenly jerk away from the spot..and then all her ectoplasm...and then her FEAR, the Nurse suddenly gone in an instant as every piece of her practically blew away.

Whoops.

Yin froze, staring at the place where the Nurse had just been.

He...he had done that.

Yes, she had suggested it, but it had not been his intention. He was not going to...he would have...he was trying to...

He just stared for a long moment, tears welling up as shame and stress washed over him. He began stumbling down toward the tunnel, plant in one hand, bag in the other, nothing would be able to pry those two from his hands now. Heading toward the train station.

So he could face in person the woman that he had not been able to, quite literally, keep together. That he had just dissipated instead of saving.
