Veo listened to Lucrecia although he did not look it. He stopped swirling the dark liquid in the glass and set it down on the table again before uncrossing his legs and leaning forward to speak. There was a short silence. He leered in her direction, the icy blue of his eyes seemingly fueled by a fire within. "You know damn well how long I've been planning this", he started. "Weeks. Weeks of precious time that could be spent elsewhere. I am going to succeed in this", he continued virulently. One could almost believe he was a mature, serious person capable of making decisions. Then... "And besides! I won fair and square! I'm keeping her and I don't care what anyone else says!" For other people, that was probably just the prince acting like his normal self. But most 'other people' don't consider that he should have lost interest already at this point. Whatever that angel girl hit him with, it was strong.

"Fine. I probably worded it wrong, but I was trying to say you should be careful how you bring this sort of thing up to the court and that the angel isn't to be trusted." Lucrecia then offered Veo a warm, genuine smile - a rare sight amongst demons yet something surprisingly common for Lucrecia when not in the public eye. "I've never seen you get this worked up over a girl before, by the way. What did she do to catch your eye?" she asked, sounding rather amused by Veo's interest in Akalia. It sickened her a little, and she couldn't possibly fathom why he would be interested in a girl so plain, but it was nice to see him actually interested in someone other than himself for a change. Even if it was just a strong bit of lust.

"Fine. I probably worded it wrong, but I was trying to say you should be careful how you bring this sort of thing up to the court and that the angel isn't to be trusted."
At that, Veo was visibly mouthing what Lucrecia was saying with a hand puppet whilst making a discontented face like a little child saying 'talk to the hand' at her obviously valid statements. When asked however what she saw in Akalia, he blushed a little, trying to look away to hide it, when he noticed the warming of his face. He wasn't about to go talk about his spirits suddenly being lifted and his his heart so warmed as to cease his ever-moving lips into silence at the sight of her in battle; how he followed after her without anyone watching and finding out that she was also the same princess he heard of so long ago as being so bright as a star and as fair as the moon, and finding that the rumors were true. Perhaps it was the heat of battle, perhaps it was the look in her eyes -- but she had smitten that proud prince and set him to work. And goodness knows the prince would come to get anything he wanted and would not let it go until he lost interest, which, unfortunately for Akalia, isn't going to be so brief this time. Finally, Veo scoffed and was about to say something before deciding not to the last minute and saying something else. "What does it matter to you? You're just a subject. One I can easily get rid of at the snap of a finger"

Veo's response wasn't surprising in the least. She didn't know what she was expecting for even asking, let alone trying to talk any sense into him like she had earlier. That didn't diminish her smile in the least, though. If anything she just lost the sweetness in it and adopted a more playful smirk. "I'm just curious as to how any girl can get you so flustered." This wasn't the first time Lucrecia's teased Veo over something like this, and it certainly wouldn't be the last. She failed at stifling a chuckle as he said that he could easilly rid himself of her. "The moment you get rid of me is the moment you lose the only valuable ally you have." In all honesty, who else could be trusted? Others in the court might have enabled Veo's foolishness, if only to make their own lives easier, but it was only Lucrecia who really helped save him from the consequences when it all blew up in his face. It was only Lucrecia who would willingly help him abduct an angel of all things to be his bride. And, chances are, it was only Lucrecia who would lie to the king for Veo in a worst case scenario if his father got word of anything that he was doing. Sometimes the demoness even wondered if she was the closest thing he had to a trustworthy friend, given his personality and rather troublesome tendencies.

♠ Robert Bissette ♠ Before the prince had even reached the tent, Robert had already been listening to a thousand and more accounts on what had happened within the last hour – an hour that should have been ample time to let the first knight know what on earth had been going on! He was furious, but he didn't let it show beyond a pair of narrowed eyes directed at the cowardly squad of men reporting the details, all of which falling into silence as the flap to the tent was whipped open. The brunette turned and looked over the prince without hesitance, assuring himself the boy was indeed alive before venturing into more disapproving thoughts on the competence of the boy. He had been there. He had been there and hadn't stopped it. He closed his eyes, reminding himself that this boy was in fact a superior and he had to give his respect.
“...Your Highness.” He greeted as calmly as he could, though he didn't budge from his spot across the tent, keeping his hands knitted behind his straight back.
♠~~~~~~~~~~~~~♣
Something was wrong. Annabelle had only been walking for half an hour before the horrible thought hit her. She felt it deep in her gut – something that was definitely different than the discomfort of being in enemy territory. More dangerous, frightening – she wasn't sure what it was, but she had a solid hunch as she felt a tremor beneath her feet. War. There was a battle happening somewhere close and she expected that, but she didn't expect it to be one that used magic, because this disruption in the air and that unmistakable taint she tasted when she gasped couldn't be anything else.
Angels weren't much of magic users. She clenched her fingers along the bark of a tree, using it as more than for stabling herself. Demons had entered the war. “Princess.” This was getting to be more than she could have thought possible. She could defend against humans, but demons weren't supposed to be in the war. She couldn't spend all her time protesting, though; it had happened and now she needed to find the princess ASAP. She headed through the trees rather than the main path this time as soon as she felt the ground wasn't going to shake again. It would be too tempting to fly through the forest instead if the ground didn't feel secure and she was a bit too shaken to test out her self control in such a situation.
Though she really, really should have. By the time she reached the source, it was already done and over with. She kept as deep into the trees as she could as she observed the demon-made wall of earth and the group of armed humans examining it in awe. There was blood nearby – bodies being carried off – but the way the humans handled the corpses was with the care of those they knew. The princess hadn't been killed. She felt a weight lift off her shoulders, but that didn't mean much of anything. The princess could be captured or maybe she wasn't even near here – maybe she was thousands of miles away, dead somewhere else! But she needed to know more about the demons before she continued on – if they were taking an active part, she may need to go back to the kingdom and inform the king, punishment or not.
For now, she remained in the forest, crouching behind a tree and keeping on alert. ♣ Annabelle Vinter ♣ (( Caught up and posted! =D Sorry, ya'll, a bundle of birthday parties all crammed into the last few weeks. Distracting.))

"Tch! Flustered? I'm not flustered!", Veo said, resting his curled fingers underneath his chin in thought. "...Maybe", he said under his breath so maybe Lucrecia couldn't hear. When she then mentioned being the only valuable ally Veo had, he sneered, raising his hands in the air in sheer mockery. "Oh my! Don't make me laugh. You are not the only valuable ally I have." He continued on in a slightly more hushed and mumbled tune, "There's my cousins, dukes and duchesses...", he was about to mention his brothers but then remembered that they hated his guts and would probably joint-ambush and murder him any moment they had if only they weren't the first to be suspected for murdering the crown prince to usurp his future position. Also, their father had quite the fondness for the gallant and destructive lad, so the punishment would be severe before either of them could possibly be crowned. Going back to his cousins, Veo rambled on in a still hushed tone, "...And then they got sent to other parts of the demon kingdom for aiding me in my less-than-scrupulous, unfavorable misdealings" He then raised his voice. "But whatever! Point proven. I have other valuable allies..." He then mumbled towards the end, "...They were less than approving"
The restlessness took him over again and raised his hand in a dismissive manner. "But whatever. Go do something useful for me for a change. Go to the human kingdom and bring a human to the angel kingdom. Have that human report that the princess is being held deep within the dungeons of the human king's palace. Choose a naive pawn. Have him or her believe in that statement. You know angels. They can spot liars. Don't cast magic on said individual but a staged illusion or a believable dream should do the trick. Whatever. Just get it over with", he said impatiently towards the end. Of course, Lucrecia had done many a useful thing for the prince, but it just gave the words some bite and Veo had said it tactlessly as usual. "I'm going to go visit the princess", he said, standing up and re-buttoning that elegant and elaborately-ornamented white coat of his.

Lucrecia was even less surprised by Veo's response. His words stung, but what else was she expecting? Veo, especially when embarassed, was always an a** who talked out of the very same. She wouldn't dare let her disappointment show, though. Instead, she simply adopted a smirk as she sassed, "Whatever helps you sleep at night, Veo." before heading off to do as she was told. She made it look and sound like she didn't take his words seriously in the least. Which, for the most part, she didn't. Lucrecia walked quickly in heels, and unless Veo was willing to waste time that could be spent with his precious little angel slut, he wasn't going to catch up and give her an earful for it. She quietly fumed to herself behind a pleasant smile as she headed towards the guest room she stayed in, planning on retrieving a teleportation stone before going on to do as her charge commanded her to.

"Good girl", he whispered with a wicked smile as Lucrecia walked off and he went on his way as well.
"You can't come in here", a lady demoness guarding Akalia's door said in an alluring manner, leaning close to the prince in a lascivious manner.
"Oh? And who says I can't?", Veo asked, taking what she said as a challenge and seemingly welcoming her advances.
"The royal court", the demoness said, looking him over with crimson eyes before peering up at him under long, dark eyelashes.
"And am I not prince of this court?", he asked, his voice gentle and well-modulated.
The demoness chuckled, hearing his voice like a soft plea that was getting harder and harder to resist. "Maybe I might let you in... For a pri-"
The prince interrupted her, saying, "Look. Let's just cut to the chase. I want to speak to my future bride. And I will. Wanna watch?" He pushed her aside, opening the door, hearing her say faintly, "Fair enough". Veo smirked, hearing it and came in to look for Akalia. "Princess?", he said, his voice resounding in the lavishly-decorated guest room.

Akalia was sitting on the edge of the bed when she heard Veo talking to the demoness guarding her door... When the door opened she stood out of habit and came into view and curtsied. it was habit. "To what do I owe this pleasure?" She asked before blushing slightly at her question.
Akalia stood straight before looking down and then back up at him."I-I mean, what is it? What do you want?" She asked crossing her arms, trying to return to the composure she had had before.

Veo stopped in his tracks to look at Akalia again. It really was something. It doesn't get old. But who knows? Maybe in a few weeks? But for now, this was the longest he had considered a female beautiful without getting bored at second glance. He looked rather awestruck and speechless for a while like a boy staring into the windows of a toy shop. But that was quickly replaced by a mischievous smirk. "You, me, wedding. I thought it would be the perfect chance to get to... Know each other a little better", he said, confident at first and pondering towards the end. That last part, it sounded awkward that he was using it in the real sense of the words. He normally just meant sex when he says "know each other" to any other girl. He stepped a little closer, pocketing his hands and eyeing her closely -- half just admiring her features and half expecting an answer.

Akalia blushed slightly at his answer. She took a step back instinctively. She narrowed her eyes. She had heard about the demon prince. How he was a playboy... She smiled though. Maybe this could turn out to her favor, maybe this way she could talk him into taking her outside. She lowered her hands and sat in the chair beside the 'fireplace' and motioned for him to sit if he so pleased. "And what would you want to know?"
She asked this as she waited for him to sit down. "I warn you though, you may not get an answer or will like the answer you get."

James looked at Robert and stood at attention. "Sir." He responded with a small bow waiting to be relieved from attention. Normally, it would slip his mind to do this, but he had an outline of a plan forming in his head. He was planning on going to go and save the angel that was kidnapped earlier. He had a feeling that Robert wouldn't approve of the idea, but James saw it as a way to make peace with the Angel Kingdom. Well, he saw it as a way to make peace as well as make up for the fact that he didn't get to them fast enough.

♠ Robert Bissette ♠ Robert stopped himself from frowning at the prince yet again, but he couldn't say he wasn't pleased to see a royal giving him the respect he deserved. Still, he wished the boy could pick up on what he wanted quicker – it was a pain to have to spell everything out for everyone. But, what could he do when he hadn't the right to train the boy without the King's explicit permission? “I trust you have more information on what has happened. My men have informed me you helped lead the troops against the attack.” The information Robert was getting was hard to put together very well, not without including some alarming new factors in the war. He kept his hands behind his back as he looked down at the boy, waiting a second before adding, “...If you could explain, your highness.” He didn't want to have to waste time because the prince wanted to lollygag. ..Which was an odd thing for the prince to do, now that he thought of it, but he let his suspicions rest for the time being.

James hesitated a second trying to decide if he really wanted to give all of the details. The girl after all was an angel and the angels were the enemy at the moment. He didn't want that to prove an obsticle in his plans to rescue her. Well, so maybe the word "plans" wasn't the best word for it, seeing as to all he had for now was sneak in, attack, rescue princess, end war. However, he trusted that with Robert's help the details would fall into place beautifully.
"Well I was out checking the strength of our men when a scout came running towards us, claiming that he saw two people kill a squad of four men and were appearantly attempting to kidnap a girl. Upon hearing this I summoned the soldiers closest to me to come and help try to rescue the girl. We would have gotten there in time had they not summoned a wall of earth to block our path. By the time we got around it they were already through a portal and it was closing." James explained hoping he didn't leave anything important out. Well nothing important, with the exception of the whole "the girl had wings" part.

♠ Robert Bissette ♠ ..Yes, that seemed about what the others had said. It was all outlandish and hard to believe, but Robert wasn't one to shrug off the possibility of an attack on innocent bystanders by those disgusting other races. He looked to the advisers he trusted most with a frown, knowing full well they would understand what this insinuated. The Angels had either started to send out spell casters or the Demons had reared their ugly head. But, why would they kidnap a girl? What had a girl been doing out there in the first place? The closest town was evacuated days ago since he had stationed his men here.
It was something to find out when he had dismissed the prince – the boy didn't seem to know anything more than what he had said, however suspicious he had been acting before. It wasn't his place to suspect the boy anyway and he had more pressing manners to deal with. “Your account is very appreciated, your highness. I will take care of this.” He gave a quick bow to the boy to indicate he had no more use for him and that he was free to leave.
