"It's getting kinda late," Keiko sighed, looking up at the sky. "I wonder how long the Safari will be open. We'd better hunt for some more Pokemon to fight before we run out of time," Keiko said to Azure before the Water-type got pounced on by a Litleo.

"That'll work! Azure, use Bubblebeam to push him off of you!" Keiko ordered. Azure happily sprayed a stream of bubbles at the offending lion, who responded in kind by Tackling her. It barely affected her, though, so it seemed like the Litleo was having mercy.

"Don't hold back! Climb over him with Waterfall!" Keiko cheered. Azure smirked malevolently at her target before gathering water from below ground, causing to spurt up at Litleo like a geyser. As the water burst forth, Azure leaped at it and appeared to climb on it, getting close to the top of the burst of water before riding it down atop Litleo. The lion Pokemon growled at Azure, tired of getting sprayed on, and pounced on her, bearing down with Fire Fang.

"Okay! All you need now is a touch of Water Pulse!" Keiko commented. Azurill gathered leftover water from Waterfall around Litleo, creating a pulsating sphere that trapped the Fire-type until he couldn't take it anymore and fainted.

Keiko walked up to Azure and inspected her. "You're getting worn out, huh? Don't worry, we've only got one more to go," Keiko promised, letting Azure hop up on her shoulder before continuing their search.

Lilipup out from behind some bushes, as it's whiskers start to ruffle; it turns around and flees. "Riolu after it!" The Lillipup cowers and than makes a run for it. "Riolu, try to stop it; or at least slow it down! Use Mud-slap." Riolu flilngs some mud at the Lillipup. After flinging three rounds of mud at the Lillipup one hit directly, and the other two lands beside it. Startled by the attacks it dodged, getting hit by one of the mud-slap. "Great job Riolu, now Rock Tomb!"

The Rock tomb started surrounding Lillipup, it let out a barking shreek as the last boulder closed off the top. Shortly after four more Lillipups came from out of the bushes. Two of them using Rock smash to destroy the boulders encasing their friend.

"Uh oh, Riolu, this is gonna get interesting." After being released all five started coming after Riolu. Looking at the Horde before them, it got worse. All five started using Workup, after which they used Helping hand on each other. "Well they are now powered up super dogs, Riolu you ready for this?" Riolu grinned with a smile and nodded. "Alright, they want to be pumped up for a battle? Than let's make them pumped up; and make it confusing for them!" Riolu uses Swagger, the taunting and jesters enrage the Lillipups. The more angry they get the more they lose control of their actions and become confused. The first one begins with Fire Fang, the next two Crunch, the 4th uses Lick, and last one uses Rock Tomb.

Due to the confusion the two with crunch took to each other, the one with lick attacked the one with Rock Tomb, Fire Fang hit and burned the one using lick, and the Rocktomb landed next to Riolu. All five canines landed on the ground in disarray. "Riolu now is your chance! Bulldoze!" Riolu rushes forward with stomping speed, causing the ground to tremble underneath all the confused pups. Snapping out of confusion all the pups except the first one started to run back into the bushes out of fear. "Alright, back to one on one." The remaining Lillipup grows angry, and uses Reversal. "Get ready for the attack Riolu!" Standing there watching the Lillipup giving it all it's got, Riolu lets out a laugh.

Lilipup makes contact, and Riolu disappears in a cloud of smoke. With a confuses look on it's face, it looks around with an angry look. Seconds pass by, "NOW RIOLU!" Secret Power! Vines start beating it around. It lands a short distances away and struggles to get up.

Now to try and capture it!

The ball shakes and Lillipup breaks out. It attacks again, Riolu uses counter and sends it backwards. Lying there for a moment, Arkelos tries again. "Rounds two!"

With Cyndaquil contained and Carnivine sent on it's way, Wren took a moment with Hyacinth to recover before the pair continued exploring. "Go ahead and use Wish to recover your stamina a bit." Wren suggested as he walked inward and found a spot to sit down by the Inner Lake. Hyacinth nodded and released a small wave of energy into the air with a special twist that would cause it to return with more than she had released shortly.

After a bit, the pair began to really look at their surroundings and see what the lake had to offer.

Breaking out a second time it launches a Last resort attack. Riolu dodges the attack. The Lillipup looks at Riolu while passing by, than looks forward to see a tree just a head of it. With a whimper, it crashes into the tree, and lands on the ground at the trunk.

"Alright, last shoot! Great Ball this time!"

The ball shakes, it lets out a second one. Finally a final shake. Lillipup was caught.

"Not really much of a battle, but still though. I feel like we have accomplished something today. Wonder what else is around here. Even though we are out of pokeballs, I feel three more battles, would do us some good."

Tristen and Litten continued on their excursion through the Oasis. However, unlike the beginning of their travels in this area, they were a lot more careful in going about the area. Litten had quite a few fights behind him and the battle damage was starting to add up. Breaks every now and then help, but there was going to come a time where they are going to have to hang it up and Tristen is hoping that it wasn't without leaving with any sort of quarry beyond the fossil the two of them found.

As they continued on, the two ended up perking up and finding a Poochyena, and it looked as if it was wanting to pick a fight. "A Poochyena? Okay, we can take that. Right, Litten?" Tristen asked. The cat moved up ahead and got ready as the hound started hunching low as if it was ready to strike. "Go, Litten! Ember!" He shouted. The cat quickly unleashed an ember flurry at the Poochyena, pelting the hound. The Poochyena yelped out in a panic and scurried off the opposite direction, practically wanting nothing of this fight anymore. It ran away...

"...okay...that one made sense." Tristen said, remembering that Poochyena at the very least are known to have Run Away traits.

"Mrrowr?" Litten stared in confusion.

That...wasn't even a battle at all, Tristen thought, benefiting no one, let alone Litten. The more that he thought about it, it was actually to their detrement. "Um...we might want to leave...there might be Mightyena around..." Tristen said.

The duo after scaring off the Poochyena continued to make their way around the oasis. Tristen was a little surprised that there seemed to be no end to the variety of Pokemon here at the oasis so far; not that he is complaining. Though, Tristen was starting to second guess taking out and leaving that Cyndaquil, but then he remembered his reasoning for not capturing it. As the boy went back to musing his next move, he was quick to come out of his trance and looked up, seeing a Litleo cross their path. Yet another different Pokemon; not that he was complaining. That said, for some reason, rather it be for a change of pace, or a spat of bravery, the Litten already was moving ahead and challenging the Litleo. The boy wasn't sure if it was because it was another cat or what, but whatever the case was, Litten was already giving a couple of hisses towards the Litleo.

"You think you can take that one, Litten?" Tristen said, not so sure. But he decided if Litten was willing to take a chance, he'll do it as well. However, the Litleo, annoyed at Litten, unleashed a mighty roar, a surprisingly loud, booming roar from its tiny self. Litten jumped out of shock and just like the turn of events before, now Litten was the one finding himself heading for the hills. "Wait, what the? LITTEN!" Tristen shouted, now chasing after his scared cat.

"Litten! Stop!" Tristen shouted over towards his cat, trying to keep tabs on his frightened cat. Quickly the boy leaped and caught his cat. "Litten, stop running. Its gone now! We ran far away from that, Litleo. Next time, don't make yourself look so confident to something like that. That was embarrassing." Litten, realizing what the boy said, looked around the area and sure enough, no Litleo. The cat hopped out of the boys arms then looked up towards Tristen. "Alright, come on, let's see what else is around...hopefully Litleo didn't scare everything else out of the oasis."

The two started to walk off, but before they were able to get any distance, a Lillipup was ready to pick a fight. Though this one doesn't seem to have any intention of running. "Uh-oh, Litten, you ready?" The cat regained its nerve and made its way to confront the Lillipup. The Lillipup rushed in immediately, making a full body Tackle attack upon the Litten, making the cat tumble away some. "Litten! Fire Fang!" Tristen shouted.

The cat managed to spring back to his feet and started to rush off to the Lillipup, pouncing it and biting down hard with its fiery fangs, causing great damage to the hound. The hound shook off Litten and immediately retaliated, knocking Litten over and started gnawing away with Bite attacks itself. Litten howled out in pain and kicked away from the Lillipup. "Litten! Use another Fire Fang!" Tristen said. This Lillipup apparently wanted to keep up close and personal so as far as Tristen is concerned, he was going to get Litten to oblige. Once again, the cat jumped on the Lillipup and chomped down with its flaming bite, making the Lillipup yelp out as the burns started to overtake the hound and finally take it out.

"There..." Tristen said, sighing hard. "Come on, Litten, let's see if we can't find some where to take a break before we get in over our heads."

Tristen started to find a spot, a shady tree which to rest up against. "That spot looks good." Tristen said. The two made their way over towards the tree and sat up against it. Tristen dug around in his pack and started to look about it, staring in confusion. "I think its about time to use a hyper potion...that I...got...uh...where did it go?" Tristen forces the pack wide open, digging around the goods and trying to find the medicine in question. As he searched, the cat took notice to something that was slithering about the tree the boy was up against.

"MERRROWR!" Tristen perked up, staring at the cat for a second, then looked up above him. Clung on the tree, he saw a big green and red gaping maw that was ready to clamp down on him.

"YAAAH!" Tristen dove out of the way as there was a snap behind him. He scrambled away from the tree then looked back, seeing a Carnivine there itching for a fight. "So much for a break." The boy said, irritated. "Litten! Go!" The cat rushed forward, ready to fight. Though, Tristen realized that this cat wasn't going to be able to take much abuse. They could maybe get lucky. He hoped. However, as far as this excursion has been going, luck was something that he kind of lacked.

Before the cat could go on the attack, the Carnivine leaped out towards the cat and swatted it, whipping away at it with its vine whip attack. The cat winced out from the strikes that pelted away at it. "Litten! Use Ember!" Tristen shouted. The cat retaliated, unleashing the flaming embers upon the Carnivine. Each ember flake burned in deep on the grass type, causing considerable damage to it.

The Carnivine backed off, quickly shaking off the burns that started to seep into its green skin, then rushed in, its mouth opened wide and scooped up the cat and started to gnaw away with its Bite attack. The cat flailed about in the gigantic fly trap's mouth, trying to struggle to get out. "Litten! Ember attack again! Get it while you're in there!" The cat managed to shift itself into position and unleashed another ember flurry which caked the plant with searing flames. The Carnivine bucked hard and dropped the cat. Litten barely managed to land on its feet, hurting from the vice like jaws of the plant.

However, the Carnivine was showing that it was a glutton for punishment and unleashed more vines, a considerable number which ensnared the cat and squeezed tight. Litten started to howl out in pain as the Bind gotten ever tighter by the second. Tristen started to wish that Litten had more to his arsenal right at the moment but Ember and Fire Fang are his best attacks right at the moment and it probably wasn't going to improve until at the very least Litten evolves. Tristen knew he had to make the most of what he had. "Litten, use another Ember! Try to get out of that!" Tristen shouted. The cat managed to shift about in the vines and managed to get a clear shot at the grasping plant unleashing yet another ember flurry which managed to make the Carivine let go and run off while the getting was good.

"What...was that all about..." Tristen asked, not expecting to get an answer. And worse still, Litten really was looking pretty bad. The boy went back to the tree and started to look about in the pack. After another moment or two, the boy found what he was looking for and brought out a hyper potion. "There, finally." he said. "Come here, Litten."

As Tristen started to tend to Litten, the cat started to hiss once the healing medication started to work its proverbial magic on him. "Now, calm down. It's gotta be done. You'll feel a lot better after this is done." The two of them perked up, hearing a rather angry hiss. Out from the brush, the Carivine went in for a sneak attack, and without orders, the cat once again blasted the plant with an Ember attack, finally putting it out for the count.

"Merrowr." Litten said.

"Uh...thanks..." Tristen really doesn't know what to make of that Carnivine. "Now, let me finish."

Litten continued to be aided by Tristen, trying to allow the Hyper Potion to do its work. The cat constantly fussed, spray after spray as the potion worked in its injuries. "Hold on, Litten, we're almost done...aaaaaand there..." Tristen said, stashing the waste and sat back. "There, now lets just give it a minute and let it sit, then we can get back going again, okay?"

"Mrrrrrrr."

"Don't be such a kitten." Tristen said. As he sat back as the cat started to sniff about itself, getting a whiff of what was to him a foul-smelling medicinal smell, made apparent from the medicine. Tristen sat there, almost having to stifle a laugh a little. He then looked over, seeing a Spinda totter about and walk on by. Tristen wondered for a second if that was the one from earlier that passed by them. He didn't get noticed it seemed. Tristen wasn't going to worry about it; the Spinda seemed pretty chill around here.

After some time letting the medicine doing his work, despite the smell the medicine was putting off, Litten was feeling a considerable bit better than it was before. "Glad to see you're doing better, Litten." Tristen said. The kid managed to get up and dust himself off. "Come on, let's see what else we can find. I want to try to get at least another friend here for all of us before we leave." Tristen said. "Not to mention, I kinda felt pretty bad the last time we did one of these; we really lost badly. You remember?"

"Rrrrrrr."

"Yea, it wasn't that good. But hey, maybe we can do something great now. And maybe we can even win the contest. We just gotta keep trying, you know? Come on, let's get going before it gets too late." The boy and his Pokemon made his way off away from the tree and off through the Oasis, feeling a bit better about his chances now.

As the two went along, their bitter walk down memory lane started to come full circle upon them. The two of them found themselves at the center of the oasis. Crystal clear waters were upon them as the sun starts to come down on the area. It was a sight to behold, to say the least. But then, the two of them took notice. There was a Pokemon that brought back those bitter memories. "Litten...look..." There at the waters edge, sitting peacefully, a Meinfoo was there. It looked to be meditating at first, but then it took notice to the duo. It stood up by pushing itself backwards into a one-handed handstand then managed to get back up on its feet and got into a fighting stance.

"......." Tristen looked down towards his cat. "What do you think, Litten? Wanna try again?" Tristen asked the cat.

The cat moved its way forward and got ready, ready to let the battle commence. "Rowwrrr..." The cat said. It really was time for redemption after all. A cool wind started to make its way across what was now the battlefield. Quickly the Meinfoo rushed in a rapid pace, feinting then smacking the cat, the cat flinching from the strike. "A Fake Out! Litten! Look out!" There was no looking out for this, however, as the Meinfoo moved about like flowing waters, attacking the Litten with Doubleslap. One strike, right after the next. A handful of blows to be followed up by one final one to kick the cat away.

"Litten! Are you alright!?" Tristen shouted. The cat was back on its feet, but it didn't like that at all. Such a combination attack was sudden and rather fierce. The cat shook its head then got back ready. "Litten! Fire Fang!" Tristen shouted. The cat rushed in, fangs lit ablaze. The Meinfoo got on guard, but the cat pounced, clamping its fangs down on the Meinfoo's arm. The Meinfoo flailed about as the flames started to do its damage. Quickly, with one hard jerking snap of the arm, the Meinfoo flings off the Litten. The Meinfoo retaliates, leaping back and unleashes a flurry of stars down upon the cat. The cat gets pelted by the insanely accurate attack, grimacing from the pressure that was coming down on it.

"A Swift attack. This Meinfoo is no joke, that's for sure. Though, that didn't seem as bad as its Doubleslap attack. Maybe...Litten, use Ember attack!" Tristen said. Tristen was going to see if he could keep the Meinfoo at bay, unleashing a ember flurry upon the fighting type. The Meinfoo gets pelted by the attack, but then fears started to overcome the boy. Without even much warning, the Meinfoo forced his way through the Ember attack and then leaped up, striking Litten fiercely, a bold move that paid off in spades.

"A Jump Kick!" Tristen said, shocked not at the fact the Meinfoo did one, but in how reckless a move it was and how much it paid off in the end. The cat howled out in pain, a blow that was crushing to the cat and bringing it back to near critical conditions like it was just a short time before. Tristen couldn't believe it, this really was the cave all over again. And Litten was going to get hurt extremely bad at this rate. Tristen shook his head. He refused to allow it to happen again. Not this kind of humiliation, not this kind of defeat in general. He was getting this Meinfoo. "Litten, can you keep going!?" The cat managed to get back on his feet, but it wasn't steady. The Jump Kick attack rocked this poor cat's proverbial world. This really was just like the last time...and in the same circumstances. The Meinfoo had all the advantage in the world and Litten, still grasping for whatever experience it could, trying to do everything it could to follow his trainer's command. Fortunately, they were more experienced than the last time. "Litten! Use Swagger!" The cat howled at the Meinfoo, out right challenging the fighting type, taunting that such an attack couldn't bring this little cat down. The gesture infuriated the Meinfoo to unprecedented levels, tensing up severely. It looked like it was ready to break mountains with its bare hands and feet with how ticked off it was.

"Alright, here it comes!" Tristen said. The Meinfoo rushed in and leaped with another Jump Kick attack. "MOVE!" The cat leaped off to the side at the last second, making the Jump Kick miss its mark. The Meinfoo makes a crash landing, tumbling hard across the ground and hurting itself rather badly from such a reckless move. "Litten! Use another Fire Fang!" he shouted. The cat rushed in once more and pounced on the back of the Meinfoo once it started getting back up, chomping down with its burning maw and hanging on tight. The Meinfoo howled out furiously, once again flailing about to get the cat off of him. It continued to buck about, managing to flail the cat off. The Meinfoo, without hesistation, then spun around, palm out to strike the cat with a Force Palm attack. However, the cat was still too low to the ground after being tossed off. The Meinfoo spun around at least a couple of times and fell over, hurting itself in its confusion, made only worse by its fury.

"This is probably as good as time as any. Litten, get back!" Tristen shouted, taking out a Great Ball. The cat quickly dashed back as the Meinfoo managed to pull itself back up. Tristen threw the ball and ensnared the Meinfoo. The boy stared on, watching the ball furiously shake...waiting to see if Meinfoo was going to surrender to the ball.
