.A Visitor :: Polar and Taiya.
.Date :: Jan. 2, 2006.

Taiya walked about the mountains, thumping a stick into every ground ahead of her, something she had learned with her pa when he was still? Alive. Tell the truth, Tai was orphaned, though she did get all her parents stuff and move to the mountains. But today something unusual would happen. She was looking for food, as her little stock was running out, but then she saw-- a teepee? Blinking, she lifted her stick and batted it against the nearest tree to create sound. "Anyone there?" She asked, looking at the teepee curiously.

--------------------

Polar and Orchu were inside their buckskin teepee eating a few berries when Orchu snorted lightly and pinned his ears back. Polar tilted her head frowning and stroke his mane affectionately. Orchu grunted and tossed his head. Polar rolled her eyes playfully when she heard a light banging outside their teepee. It was accompanied with an unfamiliar voice and Polar's eyes widened momentarily. Placing the basket upon the blanket next to her she stood up pushed aside the folds of the opening of the teepee. She didn't spot anyone and stepped a few paces outside of the teepee. Orchu's annoyed neigh followed her and he accompanied her outside into the chilly air. He stomped his back hoof in annoyance and nibbled on one of her black braids. Polar swatted him away and whispered, "Orchu! You know better!" She gave him a stern look which he returned with a sheepish huff. Polar looked around and called out curiously, "Hello? Is someone there?" Orchu's ears flickered about and the two of them waited in silence for a response.

--------------------

Taiya blinks, a stallion! And its different, it has... Wings! She peeks out from behind the trees where she'd hidden, waving a shy hand in the air, before pulling it back as it was rather cold. "Present." She answers, slowly. She can't hide her gaze though, she just eyeing Orchu, wings! A horse with wings! That was so... pretty, odd and... Different.

--------------------

Polar blinks for a second before smiling. "Oh hello there! I didn't see you. What brings you up to these parts of the mountains?" Polar tilts her head curiously towards the girl who seemed to be naught more than the age of twelve or thirteen. Polar was only fifteen though so they must be someone close in ages. Orchu perked an ear forward as the visitor spoke and watched her cautiously for any signs of hostility.

--------------------

"Tai lives here!" She hesitated before answering, as she was still rather amazed by the dark stallion's wings. She moves out entirely from behind the trees, peering at the two. She didn't see many people, or soquili, so she was surprised. The thing she mostly saw was a palomino stallion, but he only showed up sometimes, then just... vanished in the blink of an eye.

--------------------

Polar blinked in confusion. "Who is Tai? I'm afraid I don't know anyone named Tai..." She trailed off scratching the back off her neck. Polar rarely met with other humans considering she was anti-social and generally remain in her teepee taking care of her soquili, Orchu. Polar was not aware of anyone else living up in the mountains for that matter.

.The Downsides of Males :: Orchu, Yei Umeko, Nagual-An and Hania.

Orchu dully opened his eyes; yawning widely. Where am I? He wondered; though not thoroughly concerned. The wind cascaded over the clearing and made the slender willow branches above him dance wildly. He tilted an ear back and frowned a tad. The ebony stallion remember last night had been unusually warm and he had decided to sleep under the willow instead of venturing to his teepee since he had been out so late. What did I do last night? Orchu thought in a dazed state. Shrugging his shoulders he yawned again and unsteadily rose to his legs. He shook his mane out and ruffled the feathers of his wings lightly. His eyes scanned the clearing in front of him for any signs of life. Orchu's ear perked up when he noticed a small gray and black speckled form lying in the tall stands of lush grass. He curiously began walking towards it. As he approached he noticed the creature was that of a soquili foal. Leaning down he nudged her shoulder with his nose.

--------------------

It had taken a considerable amount of persuasion from the back of her mind to goad the front into even approaching the clearing. She had never been one to be anti-social but having resided on the outskirts of the clearing for so long she wasn't particularly used to encountering others of her kind, in fact, she had no doubt that she would have found it rather difficult to converse with any of her own kind.

Nevertheless, she gave a brief whicker as she flicked her gaze briefly across the clearing before sighting something in the corner of her eye. It only proved to give her a slight start and she abruptly turned her head round to point it in the direction of the ebony stallion, or more to the point, his wings - she couldn't help but feel terribly plain in comparison.

...Still, she was lucky in the sense that he seemed otherwise distracted by a speckled foal not that far away from her and thus she gave a brief shudder to remove the flies from her coat and gave a slight shake of her head to read just the 'position' of the locks of hair within her mane.

--------------------

Nagual was resting soundly when she felt the insistent nudge to her shoulder. She bolted to her feet, accidentally banging the stallion in the neck with her head. Immediately, she fell back down, stunned.

Using the time to figure out what just happened; the filly looked around, "Who? What? Where? Why?"

Her gaze settled on the winged stallion. "Erm, hello..." she blushed slightly. Finally getting to her feet, Nagual also spotted the red mare in the distance. She turned to the dark stallion once more, "Did you bring someone else with you?" Nagual nodded her head in the other direction.

--------------------

Orchu snorted indignantly as the young filly startled and bashed her head against his neck. "Hi. Hm? What's this about someone else?" He inquired raising an eyebrow sardonically at the speckled filly. Tilting his head incredulously he followed her gaze upon a red mare. Orchu flickered his ears forward and whinnied lightly to the unfamiliar mare. He pawed at the ground with his hoof a bit and swished his tail. "Hello." He chimed lightly to the mare. Looking between the two females he stated, "My name is Orchu." Uncomfortably he rustled his wings.

--------------------

Startled, yet again the red mare gave a shake of her head, the suns rays causing the orange and yellow tresses riddled within the depths of her red mane to ripple in response to the abrupt movement before they once again settled into a relatively still, yet hardly dull form. It was only after this shake of her head that she arched her neck briefly and surveyed both with what appeared to be a critical eye.

"Yei Umeko." She replied at last in a surprisingly calm voice, full and rich despite evident discomfort in the way she held herself. Still uncertain as to how they might act towards her she had taken it upon herself to be as reserved as possible and by the way in which the stallion appeared to be acting...

"I apologize if I have interrupted you." She offered at last, her gaze flicking between the two before resting on the stallion's wings again - he had wings!

--------------------

Nagual smiled encouragingly at the mare. She was completely entrance with the utterly striking appearance of her. "Hello Orchu and Yei Umeko! I am Nagual-An, and I am glad to meet both of you"

Bowing her head, the filly looked to Orchu, "I am truly sorry for running into you...I am usually not so incredibly clumsy." Even though she was serious, the little giggle that erupted from the back of her throat would have said otherwise to the statement.

Again, Nagual turned to Yei Umeko, her eyes soaking up the rich colors. "I must say, Yei Umeko... Your color is amazing! I don't think I've seen anything so pretty!"

--------------------

Hania yawned as he shook himself to wake up. He wondered what he was going to do today, so galloped away from his forest home and into the usual area where most Soquili met, new and old. "I'm hungry," he mumbled, and looked around for some food before spotting three different Soquili. One red mare, a black stallion that looked strangely familiar and he couldn't put down why, and a little spotted filly. "Why is it that every time I come out here I see different Soquili in groups?" he said aloud, and chuckled as he trotted closer to them but stayed away a bit to watch.

--------------------

Orchu nodded at the red mare. "You have interrupted nothing." He said flatly; scrutinizing her. "My pleasure to meet you Yei Umeko and Nagual-An." He bowed his head momentarily. Orchu's eyes wandered back down to the foal as she spoke to him. "It is fine." His words were betrayed with a hint of reproachful ness in his gleaming steel eyes. The stallion caught a glimpse of a familiar golden stallion trotting towards the group. Orchu blinked and neighed lightly to him. "Hania my brother!" Orchu nodded his head upward and swished his tail.

--------------------

So many, they all appeared at once and she fought to remain in control of her composure as she tried to adapt to the sudden accompaniment of so many of her own kind. It was with a delicate whicker and another bob of her head that she politely side-stepped the one who was apparently named 'Hania' and turned her gaze towards Nagual who, despite being so young carried herself surprisingly well.

"I fear that due to my color I lack the ability to blush sufficiently but I assure you that I accept your compliments with gratitude." She offered her first equine smile of the day towards the young one and released another of her delicate whickers as she glanced towards the two stallions, both of which gave off the illusion of being terribly gruff.

"Are all stallions like this or is it just when they get older?" She asked curiously towards the mare who she assumed would jest in the same manner as she, even if the stallions did not appreciate the observations from a lowly mare and a filly.

--------------------

Nagual watched the interaction of Orchu and the one deemed 'Hania' with about as much interest as Umeko. Smiling brightly, her eyes gleamed, "So proper, ma'am." The filly nodded again.

Turning the conversation to the apparently brother soquili, Nagual chuckled, "Quite frankly, I cannot answer. I have only met one other stallion before -besides my father-, and a few colts. I haven't had the time to compare the differences in ages... or even male interactions. I have a feeling that this is indeed a common practice among the males." Shaking her head jokingly, the filly feigned disappointment in the masculine gender of the soquili race.

--------------------

Hania quirked an ear when he heard his name come from the stallion. He blinked. And blinked again. "Orchu?" he said in wonder as he moved toward the black stallion. "Orchu! It really is you! You grew up!" Hania's eyes were wide in shock. He still couldn't believe his little brother was all grown up. "Orchu, who are these ladies," Hania asked, turning to smile at the red colored mare and the cute spotted filly.

Hania quirked his ears in the weird way to show that he was "raising his eyebrow" like a human would. He had been listening in on the conversation between the females and glanced at Orchu for an explanation. "I didn't know the female species hated our guts," he said out loud, and bluntly was well. Turning, he grinned. "If my brother has mistreated you, forgive him, please. I'm Hania." He bowed, his traditional way of greeting females, especially pretty mares.

--------------------

Orchu smirked. "Yes I grew up and now I doubt the term little," He cleared his throat meaningfully as he emphasized the word. "Brother is now fully appropriate." He chuckled softly and nipped at Hania's forelock. Orchu raised an eyebrow at his brother. "It is not my place nor yours to assume all female soquili despise us. However I have in no way mistreated Yei Umeko or Nagual to my knowledge." Turning to the ladies he bowed his head deeply. "If I have offended you ladies I am truly sorry and apologize for my bluntness." Orchu snorted lightly. It is not my fault Polar has kept me in solitude for the past month. The stallion thought begrudgingly.

--------------------

Her eyebrow shot up at the bows and after a few moments she released a giggle and lifted up her foreleg so that she might allow the other to slide down slightly into a bow of her own. Needless to say, as she lowered her head in accompaniment of this motion she couldn't help but snicker - it was only when she straightened up that she seemed to have recovered her composure and chose to gaze at Nagual more so than the males to continue with her little charade.

"Alas, it is true that the general populace of males all appear to be terribly grumpy - what are poor females like us supposed to do?" She sighed dramatically and tossed her mane as she looked skywards before at last allowing her gaze to flicker towards Orchu and then Hania.

"My dear sirs, I am terribly offended by your actions but just this once I will forgive you." She cooed and gave another toss of her mane, her eyes twinkling with mirth as she seemed to grow accustomed to the company of her own kind, "But I do warn you it will not be so easy next time." She continued before lowering her hoof back to the ground again with a small smile.

"And it is nice to meet you, Sir Hania - I am Yei Umeko."

--------------------

Nagual couldn't contain herself. It was a pity she didn't have a long mane to hide her smile behind. Immediately, the filly was engrossed in the mare...she had a lot to learn about the woo-ing of stallions! She watched everything as a little child might watch a Rain dance for the first time.

Finally, it was time for her to say something. Nagual managed to cough and compose her face -failing as well- in a serious expression. "I guess I will forgive you too! I am Nagual-An... and it is a pleasure to meet you Hania, brother of Orchu!"

--------------------

Hania smiled. He'd never met flirty mares before, so Yei Umeko was interesting. "It's a pleasure to meet you, beautiful Yei Umeko, and young Nagual-An, it's a delight to greet a pretty filly." He laughed at the way he was named. "Ah, brothers we are but in spirit. Orchu just happens to be more elegant than I am in that he has beautiful wings." Hania always envied the flyers of the Soquili family.

"Alas, poor me, I have met with such a sturdy mare who has seen through me," Hania said, winking at Orchu. "And such a young filly to carry herself in such a proud manner, I am ashamed to have tried to catch you!" Laughing heartily, Hania flipped his mane to the other side of his neck since his feathers were tickling him. Prancing a bit, he grinned at the mares before looking at his brother in concern. "I haven't seen you for so long, I nearly didn't recognize you at first. I admit you looked familiar though, Brother."

--------------------

Orchu snorted an eyed the mare. "I wouldn't say grumpy; a more proper term would be stern or something along those lines." He tossed his mane irritably. "However I except your forgiveness with appreciation and will do my best to remain.... pleasant if that is what you wish of me." Orchu pawed at the ground and sighed heavily. As the filly spoke Orchu smirked casually and tilted his head. He could tell she was merely mimicking the mare and didn't have truly defined feelings upon the matter; or so it seemed. The stallion nudged the speckled foal gently and nickered softly. Orchu caught his brother's wink and smirked to himself. Hania was certainly a ladies' man if one ever was. "It is true brother for we have not seen one another in ages. I however recognized you immediately by your gleaming coat." Hania's pride came strictly from his ego and Orchu felt it might be necessary to give it a slight boost.

--------------------

Nagual rolled her eyes at Hania, "I think pretty hardly describes my decor!" She grinned, "Maybe something more like scrumptious or fillet-men-yon!"

When Umeko mumbled her words and ran off, the filly seemed to pout for a moment. The gesture was lost, however, when Orchu nudged her. It was a comical scene to see the filly maneuver her gangly legs to remain upright. She turned to the winged stallion and gave him a stern look, although her eyes laughed, "Is that any way to treat a lady?"

Nagual nipped at one of Orchu's feathers playfully. She took one of the non-required ones for flight. Because her father was a wind soquili and she had stolen a feather or two from him, the filly was an expert in not causing any harm.

Jumping back she bowed to the two stallions and ran off, "I hear adventure calling me! It was a pleasure to meet you both... and thanks for the feather, Orchu!" She winked and then was off, her crazy legs whipping beneath her.

--------------------

Hania grinned to himself with the way Nagual-An told his brother off. "Ah, the spiciness of female sternness," he laughed, and then smiled at his brother. "My gleaming coat? Hardly!" he snorted. "Mahiri--my fox-colored mate--is so playful, I hardly stay clean any longer! She's a beautiful, playful mare, though, and I do believe you might expect a neice or nephew..." Hania hinted, laughing.

Hania watched as the filly ran off. "Farewell, young Nagual-An, I hope we meet again," the golden stallion called out.

--------------------

Orchu eyed the filly curiously as she plucked out one of his feathers from his wing. "You're welcome..." He retorted watching her trot away. Turning to his brother Orchu chuckled. "I have yet to meet Mahiri, I'm sure she is wonderful. A niece or a nephew you say? I can hardly wait." He said it with a slight sarcasm in his tone but with a good-hearted nature. "I will be their favorite uncle... despite being the only one perhaps." Orchu frowned a little and swished his tail.

--------------------

Hania frowned. "The only one? I suppose so... that would be saddening if you are the only one. Are mares the only Soquili you've met, dearest brother? I've met a few stallions, not too many, but a few." Hania disliked how Orchu was in his adult age; what had happened to him? Whatever had happened, he would do his best to help his brother laugh and smile again. It was horrid that he was so serious as thus. "Tell me, Brother, why you are so... forlorn? Are you not happy to be all grown?"

--------------------

Orchu shrugged. "Well do you have any other siblings besides myself? Or does Mahiri.... if so then your children will therefore have more relatives." Orchu pondered the question for a moment. "Same I believe, a few stallions here and there... it seems there is an abundant number of females." He chuckled softly. Orchu stiffened at his brother's inquiries of his disposition. "I am happy I guess... I just...." Orchu's words drifted off. "Polar and I have been isolated for a month up in the mountains due to the numerous blizzards and snow storms; perhaps the harsh weather has worn off on me." He stated with conviction. "I think it may be effecting Polar as well; her personality has changed over time. It is not her... or the Polar I know. Maybe warmer weather will come and her and we will be back to our old selves... one may hope." Orchu stared at the ground and let his thoughts wander.

--------------------

Hania's eyes flickered with sorrow and worry. "That's... well, you know it is." He nuzzled his brother. "Well, I believe I have another brother. Have you met Dyami? We are all but brothers and sisters in spirit, but Dyami is also a friend and brother to me. He may be an "uncle" as well, but more than likely not. Let's see... who else? I haven't met too many stallions, truthfully." Hania eyed the mountainous area that his brother lived in.

"I live just at the bottom area where you live--in the forest. My mate is actually the first friend I had met, before becoming my best friend, and then finally my mate. Mahiri is beautiful and sweet. I wish you could meet her." Hania said with a very soft look in his eyes. Usually, although he was a ladies' man, his eyes were guarded. He mostly did what he did to protect himself but also to make sure others didn't feel uncomfortable in his presence.

--------------------

Orchu stared at his brother. "Yes I believe I have met Dyami.... I can't recollect his appearance though quite frankly." He continued; frowning slightly. "That is very true. For you are my brother and Alona my sister; however related by blood we are not. Cyrus and I are close too." Orchu nodded his head slightly. "You live in the forest? Do you live in a teepee with your human or just with your mate?" He tilted his head in curiousity. "Mhmm sounds as if you and Mahiri are very close. I offer her and you the best of wishes and hope her perhaps upcoming pregnancy." Orchu watched his brother fondly as he spoke; he was aware his brother was deep in thought.

--------------------

Hania nodded, and smiled. "Thank you, Orchu. I live in a teepee with my human. You remember how I met her, right? That was... quite a reunion." Hania blushed at the mentioning of how close he and Mahiri were. "Ah.. well, yes, we are," he said, stuttering slightly but not denying the fact.

Grinning, Hania nipped at his brother's wings carefully. "What of you? Will you get a mate? Then I can be an uncle as well! Or probably a great uncle... I will so old," Hania said teasingly before pretending to walk like an old horse. "Ah... ah me, my poor aching legs... I wish to run, but I cannot, for my legs will surely collapse beneath me!"

Shaking his golden head with laughter, the feathers that Miakoda had given his flying gently as he shook with mirth, Hania grinned. "It's terrible I do not get to play tag with you anymore. But I have met other young Soquili, so I fear not for that."

--------------------

Orchu nodded. "Yes; I am happy for you that you and her were reunited. I couldn't imagine living without Polar now..." The thought of losing his human was painful.

Orchu nudged Hania's head lightly as he tugged at his wings. Orchu snickered. "I have a mate yes. And perhaps you will be an uncle. Perhaps." Orchu laughed heartedly as Hania impersonated an elder soquili. "Your legs look fine to me dear brother."

Orchu snorted. "Tag dear brother? There is more sophisticated games I'm sure we could play." He nickered lightly and smirked.

--------------------

Hania started and stared at his brother. "You have a mate!? Really? Does she treat you well? You are happy? Satisfied?" Hania worried for all of the Soquili close to him, but he was overjoyed that Orchu had a mate. "That's great, though! I have a sister-in-law! Who is the lucky mare that has capture your heart, my little brother?" Hania teased. "Tag, yes. But I suppose there are more sophisticated games out there, as you say."

--------------------

Orchu chortled. "Yes really. Calm down dear brother. I am treated well and quite satisfied as I hope she is." Orchu nodded lightly. "It seems we both have sister-in-laws and our children will have cousins. Ha-ha and since you inquire, my mate is the winged mare Kasumi." Orchu smirked thinking of his lovely mate. She was absolutely stunning. He frowned as his brother mocked him but shook it off. "What games do you suggest such elders with our weak knees and fragile legs play dear brother?" He said with a casual smirk.

--------------------

Hania sighed dramatically. "Shall I say, who can keep drinking water without having to lift his head once. That should be a nice, leisurely game for us elders," Hania retorted, chuckling despite how serious he was. It truly was amusing. "Ah... I have yet to meet this beautiful Kasumi of yours, just as you have yet to meet my Mahiri."

--------------------

Orchu raised an eyebrow sardonically at Hania. "Dear brother I don't think we are quite that old. Do you? Surely your imagination can conjure up a more appropriate and time consuming game." Orchu sighed with a dose of effective mirth. "It is such a shame you have lost your creative composure I once knew." He grinned cheekily to himself hoping his brother would retort. "Yes I am looking forward to meeting Mahiri and having you meet Kasumi." Orchu added smiling gently at Hania.

--------------------

Hania chortled. "Well, when my creative mind returns I'll be sure to inform you. But I must take my leave, dearest brother." Quirking an ear in the general direction of the forest, Hania sighed. "I am so happy to see you again, Orchu. It has been so long. Now my human calls me to return home. Hopefully, I will see you again!" He nuzzled his brother affectionately and then turned toward the forest, trotting home.

.A Mountain Lion's Apprehension :: Orchu, Spirit Sprite and Tania.
.Date :: Feb. 21, 2006.
.Pages :: 2735 ? 2739.
.Type :: Formal.

Spirit Sprite walks through one of the many fields he had found in his wanderings, his familiar, Tania, bouncing through the tall green grass behind him. Looking over his shoulder, he could barely see the top of her head when she bounced, and he chuckled to himself a bit. They were inseparable, and had been since the day Valeria found them both and took them in under her wing. He was never seen without Tania. Normally, he stuck close to Valeria too, but lately, he'd had the urge to go out and meet more Soquili, just to see how many others actually loved meeting humans the way he did.

--------------------

Orchu was lying peacefully in the lush grass of a field whilst eating a few delicate strands. He preferred the crisp taste of apples and carrots but the grass was an easy meal to obtain. The stallion's ears swiveled atop his head as he heard the soft padding of a creature walking through the field a relatively close distance away. Looking about Orchu noticed a white stallion with dark amber markings upon his back and muzzle. Behind him was a visible head of what he assumed to be a familiar of some sort that kept appearing at intervals in the lengthy grass. Standing up Orchu faced the stallion and whinnied to him to gather his attention.

--------------------

Spirit Sprite's ears swiveled towards the sound of another soquili whinnying at him, then turned and headed in that direction, wondering who could be calling to him. "Hello?" He whickered back questioningly, ears perked forward as he scanned the grass around him.

Tania blinked, stopping a bit at the whinny. It definitely hadn't come from Spirit Sprite, so she slowed down, dropping further behind him so she wouldn't startle or scare the other Soquili. Spirit Sprite had few enough friends as it was because of her, so she didn't want to ruin his chances of making another friend.

--------------------

Orchu trotted swiftly over to the soquili and bowed his head. "Hello. My name is Orchu. Who are you?" He inquired with a light smile. How ironic Hania and myself were just talking about meeting more stallions and now I have the opportunity to meet another one. Orchu thought eagerly to himself. Looking curiously in the grass around the soquili he failed to see the familiar he could have sworn he had seen from a distance. Feeling it would be rude to ask seeing as he didn't even know the Soquili's name he held his tongue.

--------------------

Spirit Sprite blinks, somehow recognizing Orchu's name. "Orchu... Did you ever meet a mare named Settia?" If this was the little basket he had seen on the one day he had spent with Settia, and then he already somewhat knew this stallion. A glance over his shoulder proved to him that yes, Tania had slunk off again. "Tania, you don't need to hide... Come on. I'm sure Orchu won't hurt you." He looks back at Orchu and smiles a bit. "Name's Spirit Sprite. This is my familiar, Tania." He said, motioning with his head to the mountain lion as she crept up to sit beside him.

--------------------

Orchu nodded. "Yes I have met her, although I haven't seen her around or talked to her in a while..." His words were tainted with a hint of disappointment. "My pleasure to meet you Spirit Sprite." Orchu grinned. "Tania, eh?" His eyes traveled down to the poised mountain lion beside Spirit Sprite. "Name looks like it fits you well." He winked down to the familiar. Orchu wished he had a familiar to care for. "So how are you both on this fine day?" Orchu conversed pleasantly; rustling his feathers.

--------------------

Spirit Sprite thinks for a moment, and then speaks again. "We are both doing well. Just out looking to meet other Soquili. Tania thinks that others don't approach me because she's around, but I don't think that's it at all. I think that the others just don?t want to make friends just yet and need time to get to know the area around them first. How are you?" He tilted his head to the side slightly, envying the other his wings.

Tania looks up at Orchu and purrs slightly, glad that the winged one wasn't afraid of her like the others had been before.

--------------------

Orchu blinked. "Really? I highly enjoy meeting new soquili. In fact I met two new females early; they seem to have a thing against males though." He chuckled softly as he remembered how Nagual mimicked Yei's dislike of grumpy males. Orchu frowned down at Tania then looked back up to Spirit Sprite. "Nonsense! Why would someone not want to meet you because of your familiar? She is positively adorable." Orchu muttered something that sounded like, 'Ridiculous.' under his breath. He nodded at the stallion's words. "It is possible. It is a massive span of land to become familiar with. I'm a little weather worn; but am recovering. And are you Spirit Sprite?" He asked cheerfully.

--------------------

Spirit Sprite thinks again, pawing the earth gently as he thought. He chuckles a bit, then nods. "Yes, a little glad that spring is finally upon us again. Winter is too cold... And there's almost never enough to eat for those of us that feed on plants. I had to share food with my two-legged during the winter months, but she didn't mind in the least. Have you ever seen the two-legers?" He asked, smiling a bit.

--------------------

Orchu nodded. "Yes spring is much nicer than winter. The snow is beautiful but it's so cold." He shivered slightly at the thought. "It was actually warm enough last night for me to sleep outside beneath a large willow tree. They sparkle with a certain level of grace; they are easily my favorite type of tree. Ah very true, it's a shame only pine trees and such remain during winter and they aren't the best food source." Orchu thought back indignantly to that time when a pine cone was entangled in his silky tail. "And yes, I have a two-legged of my own named Polar. She diligently collected berries throughout late fall apparently and we had quite a supply during winter. Her and I rarely could leave our teepee to come down to the village during winter because we live up in the mountains and the snow storms were impossible to travel in." Orchu tossed his mane lightly.

--------------------

Spirit Sprite shivered at the thought of being snowed inside a teepee. "Perhaps you and Polar should move down to the village? Valeria, Tania, and I all live there, and there are a couple other Soquili as well. The people know how to respect their surroundings and treat us nicely." He smiled a bit more, then flicked his ears as Tania stood up and pounced at Orchu's tail.

--------------------

Orchu shook his head dismally. "Despite the harsh conditions Polar seems to adore the fresh mountain air. Besides, it will be fine in the Summer I'm sure. Perhaps we can have two teepees, one in the village during Fall and Winter and our current one in the mountains during Spring and Summer..." He pondered this idea. "Soquili live in the village?" Orchu asked curiously. "I am fairly sure Cyrus and Lily live just outside of the village but I can't recollect any soquili off the top of he head living within it's perimeters.... Yes the two-legers do treat us very well." He agreed. Tania swatted at Orchu's tail and he laughed heartily.

--------------------

Spirit Sprite thinks, then nods. "Yes, but I've never met them. Having two teepees sounds like a wonderful idea! Would your two-legged go for it?" His ears flick once, then he chuckles a bit. "At least Tania seems to like you." He said, watching his familiar some more.

--------------------

Orchu chuckled. "I certainly hope she will. I can't imagine spending another winter isolated in a teepee." A look of disgust crossed his features. He smiled at Spirit Sprite as Tania continued attacking his swishing tail. "Do you remember when you got Tania or how?" Orchu asked hopefully. Secretly he wanted a bear familiar; he had noticed one before with a orange-reddish pelted stallion whom he had not met.

"Stop waving that thing around, Kasi! You'll poke someone's eye out!" An annoyed snort says, followed by a whine. Winter was ending, so there wasn?t snow all over the place, and you could see quite a bit of green, already. A palomino stallion makes his way out of the forests last bushes, followed by a foal. Pallaton is taking his daughter for a walk, but its rather hard to do so, without her whacking him with a twig all the time.

The foal is content, swinging her stick around, ignoring her fathers complains. She has stripes along her spine, and some black stocks over two of her hooves. A single one has a white stocking over a rather odd hoof, it has two colors, a light brown with a black stripe crossing the front. "Nuh ui wunt!" She assures, but lets the stick escape her, and doesn?t bother to pick it up again. "Whur wei goin? " She asks, curious.

--------------------

The sky was crystal clear with the exception of a few fluffy white clouds. This day could not be more perfect. Orchu thought to himself. His white and silver wings were outstretched as he glided downward over the terrain. He had not had the courage to fly this high since he had fallen when he was a colt. With Polar's help he had over come his fear however. Letting his eyes wander over the land below he noticed a palomino stallion. Instantly Orchu knew it was Palla. He had not seen Pallaton in ages. Orchu blinked in curiousity as he noticed a foal trailing behind Palla. Frowned slightly he wondered who it could be; but shrugged. Orchu decided to go visit with Palla and perhaps the other soquili near him. Withdrawing his wings Orchu swooped to the ground a short distance away from the two soquili and gracefully cantered the remaining distance.

--------------------

He is about to answer to Kasi, but his ears tip a bit to the side as he hears something he only heard when running, wind being pierced. Curious, he looks in the direction of the sound, that was followed by pounding. A dark stallion with.. Wings! "Orchu!" He grins, the foal had grown! And apparently, had gotten better at flying. He moves a few steps towards his friend, nodding a greeting.

Kasi, though, grabs her twig again and moves to stand near her father, pressing her nose against his shoulder blade. Sense that human had showed up, when Ti'ran had appeared, she felt a little more timid around other soquili, as if afraid one might just pop out again. She eyes the winged stallion cautiously, he is of dark colors! and that odd blue too.. Maybe one will pop up! Or maybe she's worrying too much.

--------------------

Orchu bows his head to Palla as he approaches. "Palla my dear friend it has been ages!" Orchu nips at the stallion's curly mane. "Spring is upon us isn't it wonderful? I was afraid the harsh Winter weather would never cease." He stated dismally. "So how have you been Pallaton?" Taking notice of the filly standing at Pallaton's side he grins at her. "Why hello. You are a rather adorable filly. What is your name?" Orchu asks curiously, swishing his tail.

--------------------

"Its been a while!" He agrees, giving a small nod. "You've got much better at flying, I can see!" He says this happily, he knew Orchu could fly, just not so well. "I've been good, you? " He grins a bit as Orchu calls Kasi 'adorable', she is! Well, look wise, she's a tad annoying on her personality. "And this is my daughter, Kasi. Say hello. " He nudges the filly's shoulder, both affectionately and encouraging.

Kasi eyes the stallion, he seems familiar with her father? She looks up at Pallaton curiously, being pushed a few steps forward before managing to let a small "Hello..." Escape.

--------------------

Orchu looks at the ground as Palla mentions his flying ability. "Yeah, better; much better." He mumbles; remembering how Palla was with him when he had his accident as a colt. Coughing lightly Orchu looks back up and a sheepish grin appears across his features. ?I?ve been well I suppose although apparently isolation does not suit me. Daughter, eh? Who's the lucky mate?" He inquired giving Palla a subtle wink. "Just one child?" Orchu smirks whilst looking down upon Kasi. "Hello Kasi." He says with a courteous bow of his head.

--------------------

"No, there's also Orlando, but he's with his mother." He nods. "I don't think you know her, but her names Rowanoak!" He said this proudly, and with a warm grin, he loved his mate, and his.. Children? He did love them, but couldn?t deny he though Kasi was a little weird.

Kasi flicks her tail, giving a curious look around, nope! None of them! She grins, before attempting to n** at the dark stallions mane, with a playful snort. Yay for mane!

.Meeting in the Grove :: Orchu and Glamrock.
.Date :: Feb. 24, 2006.
.Pages in Teepee :: 2, 5 and 6.
.Type :: Formal.

Glamrock pranced around a bit and whinnied happily as she watched her friend go. It's not that she was happy to see her friend go or anything, she was free again to explore the wonderful forest she has called home. It seemed like there was something new every day.

She loved the human girl. They had a connection and bond despite being different races and speaking different languages. Yes, Glamrock thought, Meeki would have made a fine Soquili..

After sipping from the small creek again, Glamrock galloped off into the forest, her gorgeous and colorful hair flowing behind her. The sunlight seemed to dance off them, enhancing the beauty all the more.

--------------------

Orchu stared curiously at the blue mare with sparkly orange and purple decor upon her pelt. His steel blue eyes traveled up her slender neck, through her orange, yellow and purple mane to her glittering blue horn. The stallion had journeyed down from his teepee in the mountains to this stream for a crisp morning drink. His ears flickered slightly as he watched the mare's human walk off through the forest. Orchu was unfamiliar with this Soquili and her human although he wished to meet them. He snorted lightly hoping to catch the mare's attention; however she abruptly began galloping off. Rearing up slightly Orchu began rapidly galloping after her; his mane tossing wildly. He trailed a short distance behind her and whinnied after her; hoping to catch the shimmering mare's attention.

--------------------

Glamrock slowed her pace as she neared her favorite grove within the forest. It was a beautiful little area where the grass and fruit seemed sweeter. Perhaps it was her imagination but it mattered little to the unicorn.

Her ears perked and she realized she was not alone. Within seconds, a dark winged stallion shot out behind a crop of trees and caught up with her. He was a magnificent creature and appeared both tall and proud. His mane and tail was of a silvery white and near his flanks, he had gorgeous wings. Glamrock took special notice of the white underside of his mouth and jaw which gave him an appearance of age and wisdom and the markings on his body. She had never seen another Soquili that came close to the magnificence of this creature she suddenly found in her company.

Glamrock kneeled slightly and lowered her head to the ground in a bow. She was embarrassed to be caught starting and hoped he had not noticed. "Greetings Sir, My name is Glamrock."

--------------------

Orchu halted before the brilliant mare as she faced him; aware of his presence. Orchu ruffled his wings slightly and felt uncomfortable when he noticed she was staring at him. Then the mare bowed and uttered a greeting. Bowing in response Orchu smiled pleasantly to her. "Hello Glamrock; my name is Orchu. For I have not seen you around these parts before. How are you?" He inquired with a tilting of his head. Flickering his ears, Orchu took in his surroundings; he had never been in this particular patch of the forest before. "This grove certainly is full of a variety of delicious fruit. Do you come here often?" Orchu felt his mouth become dry with hunger as he eyed a clump of berries on a near by bush.

--------------------

"Hello Sir Orchu. I am somewhat new to the area but I have decided to make this forest my home. It's really a lovely place to live. I am well, Sir, pray tell, how are you? You are the first Soquili I've seen in these parts other than the dark one." Glamrock turned to lead Orchu to the center of the grove.

"I come here every few days. Some humans maintain it so it's well kept. But from what I have gathered, they do not mind if other creatures eat from it. The humans on this land, though strange, are really good to our kind. Care to join me for a meal?"

--------------------

Orchu nodded his head gracefully. "Ah it certainly is a magnificent place to live. For if I did not have my teepee in the mountains with my human Polar I'm sure I would choose to live here. Despite being under the weather the past few weeks I am quite well thank you." Orchu tilted his head inquisitively. "Who is this dark one you speak of? For I do not believe I have met them." He frowned and thought of all the Soquili he had met prior. The stallion could not connect any particular Soquili with this title and wondered if he had missed something. "Glamrock do you suppose I would be able to meet them?" Orchu was now surpassingly curious as to who the titled creature could be. "Oh really humans tend this particular grove? It certainly has been well kept as you said. If you don't mind then it would be my honor to accompany you for a meal." He smiled warningly at the mare.

--------------------

"The dark one is simply what I call Chaos. It suits him, fits him in both temperament and looks. He's a unicorn like I am, from the same herd. He watches over me like a brother would though he's of no real relationship to me. When our herd broke up, I suppose he took it upon himself to follow me. He's harmless really.. I'm sure. I could call out for him, if you wanted but I would not know if he'd bother to answer." Glamrock didn't know how Chaos would react to Orchu at all and the thought made her more than a little nervous.

"Tell me, Sir Orchu, I've never seen one of your kind before.. a winged Soquili, can you actually fly with the wings.. like a bird?!" Glamrock smiled at the thought of a Soquili being able to soar among the clouds.

--------------------

"Chaos? What an interesting name for a unicorn soquili. I know a female unicorn by the name of Neferti; her and I have known each other since we were baskets. Her coat is that of a snow leopard." Orchu blinked; realizing he was accidentally trailing off with the subject. "Ah. I have a soquili I consider my brother, and another my sister; none of us have any birth connection though either. Where did your herd originally live? That would be rather rude of him not to answer I feel." Orchu frowned; but decided consciously that it was best not to judge one he had not met. His head was pounding with questions for Glamrock but he wished not to be overly inquisitive and forward.

The stallion tilted his head. "Oh yes Wind Soquili are very capable of flight. I enjoy flying greatly however when i was little whilst in flight I had a terrible fall. Luckily I was rather unharmed; just particularly startled." Orchu spread his wings out; showing off his snowy feathers for a moment before recoiling his wings to his sides.

--------------------

Glamrock became startled at the sudden spreading of Orchu's wings. Once the initial shock wore off she took a step forward to take a closer look at his beautiful wings. "I'm glad you weren't hurt from the fall when you were a foal. They are so magnificent. Oh what I would give to be able to soar like you can, or like Windfeather." As if on cue, the hawk let out a sharp, piercing cry from the trees above. He was always nearby.. and always watching Glamrock.

Blushing, Glamrock took a step back and lowered her head to hide the pained expression that came over her whenever she talked about her previous life. "Our herd came from a distant land. There was a disagreement and we had disbanded. I fled into this direction. I ran for so long, for many days. I don't even know if I could find my way back if I wanted to, which I don't. This land is a good land, with good people and quite.. beautiful Soquili at that. Chaos is mad at me for.. things I would not like to discuss.. perhaps I did what I did out of.. a fleeting moment or maybe it goes further than that and I wanted to lash out at Chaos.. and my old herd. Chaos is just.. old fashioned.. just like they were."

--------------------

Orchu nodded. "Yes I am too; I am very fortunate. The stallion Pallaton was with me actually and instructed me upon what to do as I was falling so I wasn't hurt thanks to his guidance I believe. Who is this Windfeather?" He inquired curiously but turned his head to examine the creature whom had screeched shrilly. "Oh wow what a gorgeous hawk. Windfeather is your familiar I take it?" Orchu's steel eyes examined the brown feathers of the magnificent hawk.

Orchu listened intently as Glamrock elaborated upon her prior life. The stallion also noted the mare's delicate expression. "Agreed, this land is quite wonderful. I believe I would not wish to live anywhere else. For I have met many enjoyable soquili and humans over time here. Which soquili have you met besides myself?" He wondered if she had met any of the same companions that he had met. "I pity the narrow-minded. Change is natural and should be anticipated; not ignored and shunned." Orchu pondered what thing the mare before him could have done, but felt it best not to push the subject. "No one should regret their actions. Our experiences and choices should be embraced; it is what makes us who we truly are." Orchu did not mean to lecture Glamrock in any way nor did he mean to sound terribly wise. He merely was speaking works he felt were true. Orchu wished his words might help the mare in any way.

--------------------

Glamrock smiled and nodded, "Yes, Windfeather is my familiar, though I suppose he likes to consider himself my protector. He really has taken it upon himself to keep me and my two legged safe ever since we helped him mend a broken wing."

Glamrock had not met many Soquili at all and hoped that would change soon enough. "I've met you as well as a stallion called Danzleikr. Then there's Chaos, the dark unicorn I mentioned previously, and a unicorn foal named Glory. She was very sweet. I believe that's all I've had the pleasure of meeting so far. I agree with your words and it's so nice hearing them come from another. I have never regretted any of my actions and I do embrace every experience head on while hoping for the best. Thank you, Sir Orchu."

It really was wonderful hearing the echo in her heart and mine being spoken by another. She was worried she would start believing the negativity Chaos kept sprouting.

--------------------

"Magnificent creature. It is wonderful that you and your human cared for him and he in turn shows his appreciation." Orchu mumbled; rather to himself than Glamrock. "I too have a familiar. A black bear by the name of Rami. My human, Polar, found him outside of our teepee a week or so ago around midnight. It was that night that thunderstorm hit if you recall. Poor bear was all alone and Polar took him into our teepee. Cleaned him up a bit and she gave him to me to care for. Right now he is napping in the teepee. Little thing getting exhausted easily after playing with Lux." The stallion chuckled lightly to himself. However, he realized he had not given a satisfactory explanation to who Lux was. "Lux is a wolf familiar who belongs to the soquili Auri. She however is still stationed in her basket and unable to care for her familiar so he often accompanies Rami and myself. Polar received Auri and Lux merely a few days ago." Orchu hoped Glamrock wasn't confused by his explanation. "Perhaps once Auri emerges from her basket I will bring her, as well as Rami and Lux to meet you. I'm sure they'd all highly enjoy your company and presence." The stallion smiled at the mare. For within their meeting and conversation he had grown quite fond of her himself. "Oh and of course my daughter will have to come along as well! Her name is Nora; however she is still in her basket also. I'm doubting my fathering skills currently." Orchu laughed heartily; trying to picture himself reprimanding his daughter once she was a filly or something of that nature. "Danzleikr? I have never met a stallion by that name before. If I ever have the pleasure of making his acquaintance I will be sure to mention your name to him." Orchu shook his head as she mentioned Chaos and Glory. "I have not met the dark unicorn nor the filly you have mentioned as Glory. Perhaps I will meet both of them one day. I wonder how many soquili are actually out there. I myself just met a new soquili yesterday by the name of Verloren. It is amazing how many there are to meet; don't you agree?" Orchu smiled at Glamrock at she praised his prior words. "I'm glad we agree miss Glamrock. It is wonderful how many things we have in common." He chuckled lightly.

--------------------

"A little bear you say? Oh, I bet he is simply adorable. You two are equally kind to the animals that are in need. I would love to meet Rami, Lux and Auri. Perhaps Windfeather will be less shy and visit as well. He could use some more company. Nora is such a pretty name. I would love to meet your daughter some day, Sir Orchu, when she is out of her basket. Perhaps she can play with my little ones as I expect them to emerge from their baskets any day now." Glamrock thought Orchu must know a lot of Soquili, humans and animals. He was such a likable stallion so she could easily guess why so many would flock to him.

"I definitely agree. I see new Soquili every day but I'm not surprised. This land is so vast, welcoming and beautiful, it really makes the perfect home. I have noticed a new one lately, lurking here in the forest myself but I haven't talked to him yet. He seems to avoid me." Glamrock chuckled. Chaos had a way of intimidating others easily.

--------------------

Orchu laughed heartily. "Yei Umeko certainly would agree with your statement. She was quite taken with Rami when she met him." The stallion recollected the memory of Yei squealing with pure delight at Orchu's new found familiar. "If you wish miss Glamrock we can venture to my teepee in the mountains and you shall be able to meet Rami and Lux. Windfeather may come too if he wishes. The journey isn't too trouble some and I don't know about you but the exercise would certainly do me well. And you have foals miss? Congratulations! Who is the lucky stallion?" Orchu grinned to the mare and flipped his mane. "Perhaps our children will be able to play with one another sometime!" The stallion seemed to be letting himself be carried off with his excitement. Orchu cleared his throat to attempt to regain his composure. "Yes this land truly is wondrous. A new one you say? The only stallion I have met recently is Verloren, and you said prior that you had not met him so I am unsure of who you are referring to. Perhaps I will meet him one time or another though." Orchu frowned slightly. "Anyway miss Glamrock, are you interested in heading up towards the mountain?" Orchu tilted his head inquisitively at the mare.

--------------------

Glamrock blushed. She didn't know how to quite explain it. "Danzleikr is the father of the foals but.. he.. we.. aren't mates or a couple or anything.. it was.. spontaneous." Chaos gave her such a hard time about that and hoped she wouldn't be judged too harshly though a good part of her breeding was simply out of rebellion due to the way she was raised and be beliefs that were forced on her. She loved her foals very much though and would be the very best mother she could.

"I would love it if our children played together one day. I find myself daydreaming so much as of late, wondering what they will be like physically and in personality. I'm so proud of them already. I would love to visit your teepee and meet Rami. I wish I could fly and spare you the time of having to wait on me." Glamrock had never been up in the mountains before and the idea was intriguing.

--------------------

Orchu tilted his head in curiousity as he listened intently to the mare's soft words. "You and Danzleikr breed yet you are not mates? I see... I wasn't aware soquili who were not mates could breed. It is still wonderful you were blessed with the joys and woes of children. I'm sure you and Danzleikr will both influence them positively and raise them accordingly. I can't wait to meet your children; I'm sure they are gorgeous. The stallion I met a few days ago, Verloren, breed with Resi and if fact last I knew they were waiting for their babies to emerge from their baskets. I'm not aware if they are mates or not... However my brother Hania has a mate named Mahiri. I haven't seen him in a while but he and Mahiri were hoping for children of their own." Orchu was rather neutral about the idea of non-mates breeding although his preference would always be having a mate; and with Kasumi as a mate Orchu would be crazy to feel opposite. "I'm sure your children will have wonderful personalities." He nodded his head and smiled warmly at Glamrock. "And how wonderful; Rami will be most pleased to meet you I'm sure. Ah don't worry miss Glamrock; flying is over-rated at times." The stallion laughed heartily. "Time is not an issue at the moment for me; so I do not regret walking in the least." Orchu gestured his head towards a path out of the grove that would lead them closest to the mountain's rocky base so they could venture up its slope to the buckskin teepee in which Orchu dwelled.

--------------------

Glamrock nodded and couldn't help but feel a little ashamed by breeding without being in love. She really didn't think Danzleikr capable of loving anyone but himself anyway. He was quite the narcissistic stallion. A part of her wasn't sure she would ever find love in her life and would hate to die an old mare without experiencing the joy of having foals. Perhaps one day she would find someone to love her but she wouldn't put her happiness in the hands of fate like that. She would make her own happiness, one way or another.

She nodded and took a step towards the path, deciding it would be better for Orchu to lead the way. Once out of the forest, she would have no idea where to go and end up lost. "I bet it's wonderful, being loved and loving someone," she finally commented before adding, "I hope I am that lucky one day. I wouldn't mind if Danzleikr loved me but I know he doesn't and probably never will. I have kept myself from growing too attached to him so that if he ever hooked up with another mare, I would be able to handle it well. I am blessed to have the foals though and to have met him, either way."

--------------------

Orchu watched Glamrock's expression with utmost scrutiny as they walked in each other's company. He desired not to say something that made the mare uncomfortable. "My dear Glamrock, you and your children will have love encasing your hearts in due time. You will find the luck you are longing for shortly I assure you; you are quite a catch if you don't mind me stating." Orchu would never stray from Kasumi yet it was not a crime for the stallion to admonish the mare's shimmering beauty. "Perhaps Danzleikr will change and you two will grow closer? If not then if it positive you are optimistic to moving on and letting go. When opportunities aren't placed in front of us we have to reach out and make them on our own I feel. Achievements often are must work for their dreams and goal." Orchu words trailed off as he realized how ridiculous he must sound to Glamrock; mumbling on about opportunities and dreams. I hope she doesn't feel like coming with me is a waste of time; I truly do not mean to lecture her or make her feel uncomfortable... The stallion had merely let his words wander away with him carelessly; he needed to watch what he said. Orchu snorted lightly as they approached the rocky terrain of the mountain's base. "We need to travel close to half way up to mountain then travel eastward before we reach my teepee. Hope your up for the walk." He grinned broadly as he teased the mare.

--------------------

Glamrock let the stallion's words sink in while nodding. She really didn't know what to say in response to it. Tonight, when she got back home, she would think about it in more length.

"Sir Orchu, I will take all the walking I can get. Though I have dropped the weight of the baskets, I am always striving to get in better shape. Danzleikr told me that I needed to lose the weight anyway.. He's a perfectionist. Though I am really doing it for myself," Glamrock giggled. Danzleikr really did think highly of himself but it was much better than thinking too lowly of oneself.

"I have also never been to the mountains before so it will be quite an experience, I'm sure. The terrain, foliage, everything looks so different from down here. I just hope it's safe."

Glamrock really liked how caring Orchu seemed to be. She thought his mate to be one lucky mare to have landed such a sweet stallion. She bet Orchu would never imply that his mate was less than perfect physically, mentally or emotionally. Still, she reminded herself, Danzleikr's personality was part of his charm and what made him unique.

He chuckled as he called a mare high strung, he knew how that could go. "I've been pretty good," he replied. "Stopped over at Alona's awhile back." he smiled half heartedly until a new presence was known. He nickered for her to come over and chat with them.

--------------------

Orchu cantered through the lush meadow towards the clearing hoping to run into a familiar soquili. For the stallion had met many new soquili lately but had not seen many of his friends since he had grown from a colt into a stallion. As reached the edge of the clearing his eyes scanned the terrain before him. He caught sight of a few soquili gathered amongst themselves. Is that Cyrus? He wondered squinting from afar. Orchu flipped his mane and cantered over to the group; neighing in greeting.

--------------------

Kanti heard the nicker of welcome return and decided to great them. She spotted the black and white stallion with bits of green war paint on him, some odd reason he seemed familiar, well not familiar but at least someone she should have known from somewhere. But never mind that she at least could introduce herself to them.

"Hello? I'm Kanti" she said as pleasantly as she could. Yet to her, her voiced seemed oddly loud and unexpected. She wasn't use to introducing herself, actually she didn't really meet many Soquili and it never bothered her to actually meet any.

She then heard a nicker from another stallion, yet this one's voice seemed familiar. Very familiar, however she had never set eyes on him before, or not at least she could remember.

--------------------

Wayra had stayed up too late and was still asleep on the floor of the teepee when Cedar snuck out, hooves gently clopping a syncopated rhythm on the still frozen ground. She wished she didn't have to seek around, but her father's promiscuous ways left him little tolerance for males around his daughter.

She whickered a little at the irony and trotted forward at a steady pace, taking in the scenery. She was halted, however, by a group of males quietly conversing. She had never met a male before, other than her father, and she cocked her head to the side, examining them. The silvery one was particularly nice to look at...

--------------------

Cyrus head turned at the scent of another familiar Soquili. "Orchu?" he questioned himself, softly. As he looked in the direction it was a very grown-up Orchu. He reared excitedly. "Orchu! How have you been?" nickering to him.

He looked back to the mare who introduced herself as Kanti. "Kanti as in Alona's Kanti?" he asked, curiously. He had heard a lot about her and was wondering when he was to meet her.

--------------------

"Ah yes, I remember Alona, how is she doing?" Lobes face towards the thundering of someone cantering towards them. Glancing away from Cyrus, Manitou focuses on the black and white stallion who seemed vaguely familiar. He whickered a low greeting to the stallion before finally focusing the mare who had made her way over. "Greetings Kanti, I am Manitou."

Manitou watched as Cyrus greeted the other stallion. Ah that?s how he remembered the stallion, he had met him as a colt. Listening to all the conversations he glances up, seeing a lone mare he whickers a hello.

--------------------

Spirit Sprite walked slowly through the clearing, his ears flicking slightly to listen to the sounds around him. He stopped next to a small pond and lowered his head to drink, listening to Tania bouncing through the grass behind him.

--------------------

Orchu snorted lightly as he reached the group of soquili. "Cyrus I thought that was you. My you look fierce with those markings." He smirked sheepishly. "I have been well I suppose; this warm weather certainly is a pleasant change." Orchu turned to the gray stallion and the brown and white mare. Bowing low he stated, "Hello I don't believe I have met either of you before. What are your names?" Orchu inquired pleasantly. Although he had met Kanti before he did not recognize her as the mare standing before him. Orchu then noticed a chestnut mare watching the interactions of the group. Nodding his head; Orchu whinnied softly to her.

--------------------

Kanti was slightly over blown by the fact that both Manitou and Cyrus knew Alona, she never really thought of her foster mother as someone who met a lot of other Soquili before.

"Yes I am Alona's Kanti, or at least her adopted daughter, how do you know her" she asked curiously, she had yet to meet this stallion yet he knew her foster mother, did she tell him she wondered.

"It is nice to meet you Manitou" she said warmly as Alona had taught her to do.

Kanti watched Orchu, something about him seemed so familiar or at least his voice did but she couldn't place how or where.
"My name is Kanti, and it is a pleasure to meet you" she said as warmly as she could, not because of what Alona had taught her, but for the mere fact that she was curious to know who he was and how did she know him some where, it bugged her not to remember.

Kanti also noticed another stallion not far from them near a pond, she nickered a small greeting wondering if he would dare to come closer to them.

--------------------

Spirit Sprite raised his head as he heard someone nickering nearby. He spotted the rather large group of soquili nearby and nickered softly back before taking a couple unsure steps forward. He recognized Orchu almost instantly and felt a bit more confident. If Orchu were here, perhaps the others would talk with him?

Tania blinked, then bounced after Spirit Sprite, leaping up in an attempt to bat at his short tail, not paying attention to what they were headed towards.

--------------------

Cyrus looked at Kanti, smiling. "I'm Cyrus her life long mate." he chuckled. His ears flickered back and fourth listening to everything. His emerald orbs looking at the new faces.

He turned to Orchu, "Fierce, you say?" he smiled. "I agree with you upon the weather, the winter months get dreary after while. Especially when the snow melts.

"Alona seems to be doing pretty good." he smiled as he replied back to Manitou. He lifted his hoof and pawed at the ground listening to the conversation around him.

--------------------

Chocolate orbs gaze calmly at Orchu, understandable for the stallion to not remember the short moment that they had spoken. "I am Manitou, I believe I met you once when you were still a colt." Manitou smiled at Kanti. Lobes flicker as she mentions at she is the adopted daughter of Alona. "My, how this is a small world. Congratulations Cyrus, and I suppose that makes you Kanti's adopted father. I am very happy for the two of you, Alona seemed like a very kind mare when I met her." Flicking his tail in thought he glances at the conservative stallion a few yards away. Whickering a hello he tries to encourage the shy stallion.

--------------------

Orchu frowned slightly at Manitou. "We met when I was a colt? How unfortunate I can't recollect the occasion. Orchu's eyes flickered back to the brown mare. "Kanti?" He stated in disbelief. "Why I haven't seen you since you were a basket! My you have certainly grown fast!" He smiled warmly to the mare. "It is such a shame I did not have the opportunity to meet you as a filly. For I have not seen Alona in ages; how is she?" Orchu followed Manitou and Kanti's knickers to the soquili that was slowly approaching the group; at once Orchu recognized the stallion. "Spirit Sprite! How are you?" He neighed cheerfully to him.

--------------------

"You and Alona are mates" Kanti said with a little bit of shock, this was a new thing to her. She had never met Cyrus before and Alona had mention a stallion before, yet she never paid attention, and here he was, her mate. Kanti as a little stunned... she wasn't sure of this new idea.

"I suppose he may be my adopted father" Kanti said responding to Manitou, however she couldn't imagine it. This was the first time she was meeting him, this was overwhelming.

"Orchu?" Kanti said looking at Orchu when he responded to her. She scattered the fragments of her past into order searching for that name, then she remember, he was the small foal that had talked to her the one night she had tried to get out of the basket. She had felt bad for insulting him once, so this was who he was. "I haven't heard from you since that night I was in a basket, I always wondered if I would ever meet you." She said happily.

"Alona is doing fine Orchu." She said with a nod.

Kanti watched as the other stallion approached. She didn't recognize him but yet Orchu did.

--------------------

Cyrus looked at Kanti who seemed to be spazzing about the fact of calling him an adoptive father. "I wouldn't say adoptive father, for only we have just met. It really wouldn't be fair." he smiled winking at Kanti as he replied to Manitou. He watched Orchu for a bit he was still stunned on how big he had gotten.

--------------------

Lobes flicker back at the mare's reaction to what he said. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to startle you by what I said m'lady" His tail moves in a somewhat uneasy fashion before turning his attention to Orchu. "Do not worry about it, I'm sure you had more important things on your mind when you were that age." Smiling slightly he nods in understanding. "So Kanti, how are you enjoying all the wonderful knowledge you have acquired."

Sundance was past heaven. For the first time she had actually made friends. Her hooves pounded into the soft dirt and the thundering mimicked her heart. It seemed to beat faster and faster as she thought of the prospect of finding more friends. The small mare tossed her head as she ran. Hooves carving half-moons into the soil. Tail flaring behind her she kicked bucked. It wasn't normal for her to show her happiness in such a way but she couldn't help herself from acting like a yearling. The bright feathers fought to stay against her body and the cuffs jingled with an utter modesty. She was truly happy for the first time in quite sometime.

Nothing could have brought Sundance down from what she was feeling even as she skidded to a stop at a cliff. The mare looked over and saw waves lap at the shore shaping the cliff face into what ever it pleased. She seemed mesmerized by the waves but heard the wonderful calls of the gulls around her. She was hoping that she could meet another someday.

--------------------

Orchu splashed through the ocean; waves swarming past him to the sandy shore of the beach. It had been a hot day and the ebony stallion had felt like a dip in the ocean would suit him. The water was a refreshing temperature; not too cold but just perfect. As Orchu centered out of the water onto the shore he shook his coat to remove some of the dripping residue. The beaming sun would evaporate the rest of the moisture from his coat, mane and tail in due time. Noticing the ocean tide had carried him to a rocky section of the beach Orchu snorted indignantly. To get back to the forest and such he would have to walk a long ways back along the beach; for only ruptured cliffs stood before him. Orchu flipped his mane and in a second his powerful wings were outstretched; flapping wildly and carrying him straight up. As he reached the height of the cliff he gently glided down to reach the barren rock. Orchu trotted away from the edge; for he had a slight fear of heights despite his wings; and of course he would never admit it. His steel blue eyes scanned the edge of the cliff and he caught sight of a mare with a light cream coat. He noticed green feathers upon her curly pink mane and tail. Perking his ears up he neighed lightly to her; but dared not approach the cliff's edge.

--------------------

Sundance looked down at the rocks before lifting her head and saw something she had never seen before. A brilliant black stallion with bright blue markings. The mare gasped when she saw large wings protruding from his shoulders. She whinnied in surprised at seeing such a creature. Knowing that she was starring and being quite rude she gained her composure and caught her breath. She stepped a foot closer feeling her body shudder as she approached. "Hello." Sundance could feel chills going up her spine which normally happened when she met others. His wings frightened and amazed her as she took another step. "Are those wings?"

--------------------

Orchu pawed uneasily at the ground and frowned slightly when he noticed the mare staring at him. She took a step towards; although Orchu stood still, swishing his braided tail. The stallion bowed his head as she greeted him. Bringing his head back up he replied, "Hi. My name is Orchu." Orchu regarded the mare curiously; for she seemed to be caught between an expression of awe and fear. Yet the stallion was having difficulty pinpointing which of the emotions her condition currently was. As she inquired about he wings he rustled them uncomfortably at he sides. "Yes..." He responded dully. Slowly he extended his left wing; the silver tips glistening slightly. "The ocean is amazing to watch from up here on the cliff isn't it?" He laughed dryly. "It is particularly mesmerizing when the sun is setting though; when all the sunlight is reflected upon the water. Creates the most beautiful effect..." Orchu's words drifted off as he tried imagining a sunset unsuccessfully in his mind. Although he had watched many a sunsets from this very cliff he could not focus on any clearly in his head.

--------------------

Sundance watched Orchu uncurl his wing. The silver tips sparkled in her green eyes. The mare smiled and bowed her head. "My name is Sundance." A lock of her mane fell from on side of her neck to the other. He was quite impressive. "It must be wonderful to have wings. I would give anything to have them." Sundance looked to the sunset and let her eyes gloss over in her own dream state. "To be able to go anywhere and to see where that ocean actually goes." Her eyes brightened once again. "Just to be able to think that I could touch the sun or skim over the clouds would be wonderful." As her world ended the mare shook the dream from her head and looked to Orchu. "I've always loved sunsets. The way that it could shine as bright as day as if the sun did not know that it was beginning to set and it would soon be night."

--------------------

Orchu grinned fondly at the mare standing before him. "My pleasure to meet your acquaintance Sundance. Lovely name. I hardly know you but it seems the name suits you well." He recoiled he wing back to his side. "Yes; it is wonderful. However lately you see I have begun to take wings for granted. I have taken to flying places rather than walking; amazing my feathers haven't fallen out due to over usage." He chuckled lightly and watched as the mare's eyes glossed over in a dazed state. Orchu listened closely to Sundance's analogy and nodded as she finished. "Very true. The sunset is a most impressive transition into the darkness of night. The moon however twinkles with renown beauty I have come to admire. Stars are most miraculous as well." He stated breathlessly.

--------------------

Sundance admired the stallion as she analyzed his thoughts. "Wouldn't we all use our wings more than we should. I know that mine would be mere stubs when I no longer had use for them." Her lips pulled back into a smile. "It isn't something that is punishable Orchu." Soon she listened to his observation of the stars and sighed. "The stars are beautiful as well. I watch them closely because I am most afraid of the darkness." She smiled weakly and chuckled. "The stars and moon are precious to me for they are my only light when it is hard to see. Forests are hard to navigate in the dark." The mare was still looking at his shimmering wings before she met his gaze.

--------------------

Orchu nodded thoughtfully. "Perhaps we would. Mere stubs eh? I would be utterly devastated if that were the fate of my wings." He snorted indignantly to emphasize his displeasure of the notion. As he noticed her smiling; Orchu began to laugh. "Yes well lucky me that it isn't punishable I can assure you!" The stallion frowned slightly. "You fear the dark Sundance? I can't comprehend in what manor it would be frightening." He added thoughtfully. "I myself enjoy the dark; the world is particularly silent and basking withheld glory during the night. The moon and stars shine with radiance." Orchu stomped his back hoof as a sudden twitching in his leg irked him. "Why would one bother journeying through the forest at night... have you gotten lost in the forest before at night?" He asked with a hint of caution in his tone; for if the circumstance prior mentioned had happened to the mare Orchu wished not to upset her.

--------------------

Sundance wondered about having wings and what it would entail. "I'm sure that your wings will be fine. I too would be devastated for you have such magnificent wings." Her eyes scanned his wings once again and sighed. I would love to have his wings. Green eyes went dull and wide when he asked her. She hadn't wanted to think about it but it wasn't as if he had meant to stir it up. "When I was a foal I became lost during the night. I kept wandering and wandering blindly through the forest hoping to find a way out but to no avail. The forest and this post are all I know now. I haven't been able to find a way through it since. I know I will one loose this fear one day but it is still a haunting to me." She finished her story with a snort. "But it doesn't matter to me anymore. I've learned to love my forest home though I know the dangers of it now." Sundance looked to Orchu as if to show that she hadn't been offended by his question.

--------------------

Orchu tensed as he noticed Sundance's eyes growing wide. For he honestly didn't mean to make her upset and relive and past traumas during nightly events. He listened carefully to her story as she told him about her experience. He frowned when she finished. "So you have never ventured back through the forest to the village? What about your human? Do you live with her in a teepee in the forest or does she live in the village?" For Orchu didn't mean to be so insistent and possibly degrading upon the mare but his curiousity was getting the better of him. "If you wish and have the time I can perhaps lead you through the forest now; as the sun is setting I may be able to help you in the dark? I have come to know these forests very well even at night." Orchu wished he would be able to help the mare in any way possible.

--------------------

Sundance chuckled. "She is a wanderer as am I. We run into each other now and then but we are not as close to each other as we should be but she gave me these feather so others would know that we were together in some way." She shook her mane to emphasize the green feather within it. "I am normally fine in the dark as long as I don't wander too far. The village is too crowded for me to go to." Feeling something tingle in her stomach she turned to him. "I want to know more about you. Where did you come from with such intricate markings?" She stepped closer to him to inspect the blue markings. "They are so beautiful."

--------------------

Orchu frowned. "It is a shame that you and her have not bonded; for I have no idea what I would do with out my human, Polar. It is nice though she was able to give you such decorative feathers. Yes, the village is rather crowded. I do not go there often, not that I ever have need to go there. Polar and I live together in a teepee up in the mountains." He sighed fondly picturing the teepee in his mind. Orchu frowned upon Sundance's questions. "Well the first distinct memory I have was the day Polar found me in my basket. It was dark in my basket so I don't know whether I had the markings or not when I was in it; however upon escaping the woven confines of my basket I emerged with my marking and wings." Orchu smirked when the mare complemented him. "Why thank you. Your marking upon your hind quarter is rather unique. Does it symbolize anything?" The stallion inquired.

--------------------

Sundance listened to the stallion talk of his human. Orchu's words made her feel empty and lonely inside. "My Swampie is acquiring a Teepee soon and she promised to seek me out when she does." Her demeanor brightened when he asked of her own marking. "I am not sure. I too found it when I emerged from my basket. I do not believe that it means anything nor is it very flattering but it is mine just the same." The mare flicked her tail as she thought of something else to say. "Do you have a female waiting for you back at your Teepee." She normally asked others this in the fear that she was keeping them from reaching their destination. She hated to be a bother.

--------------------

Orchu frowned as he noticed the lonely expression tainted Sundance's features. "Oh really? Well that's great! Then you and her can live together and bond more." He nodded and smiled. Orchu chuckled. "I think the marking is very flattering if you don't mind me saying so! Looks like a bunch of hearts circling around a small dot." He tilted his head as his eyes stayed upon her unusual marking. "A female?" Orchu frowned again slightly and tilted one ear back. "Are you asking as in a mate?" The stallion wondered where the question came from; for it was random.

--------------------

Sundance brightened and the expression lifted her face. "Finally I can be with her and we won't have to search for each other anymore." The mare laughed at what he said about her mark. "I have no idea what it is. I think it's a flower or something but it could be hearts." Her jaw nearly dropped when he frowned at her question. "I was just curious. I hate keeping people from going places or being a bother..." Sundance looked away from a moment seemingly contemplated her response. "You seemed anxious but it was probably just my imagination."

--------------------

Orchu nodded. "It could be a flower. Although if it is I wonder what kind of flower it represents." Orchu raised his eyebrow sardonically at the mare. "What do you mean keep people from going places and such? I was just confused about the question. However; yes I do have a mate. Her name is Kasumi. Do you have a mate?" The mare was suddenly becoming very confusing; Orchu didn't feel anxious in the least. He sighed wearily and swished his tail.

Orchu nudged the little black bear gently as he encouraged it to start walking. Rami protested with a light growl as he pawed at Orchu's nose. Polar had brought the small cub home only last night; she had found it around midnight close by to her and Orchu's teepee. Upon seeing the little bundle Orchu decided he would take care of it. He had named the bear Rami; and it suited him quite well. Orchu had guided the tiny bear towards a tributary heading down towards the forest from high up in the mountains. Rami had instantly splashed into the water hunting for fish; his bear instincts taking effect. The stallion and his familiar had been at the stream for a while and Orchu felt they should journey down into the forest. Rami, however, had other intentions and ignored Orchu when he informed Rami they were going to leave. The bear sat in the cold water; his coat sopping wet and Orchu nagging lightly at him to come onto the rocky bank. Rami continued growling lightly; pawing about in the stream. Feeling annoyed; Orchu took a few steps into the freezing water. "It's so cold! Rami how can you sit in here! Surely you are going to get sick." With that the stallion gently picked up the bear by the black fur on the back of his neck. Rami squirmed wildly in the air; not wanting to cease his actions of hinting. Walking out of the stream and towards the forest Orchu mumbled. "Whaevrshlidowiffyo." It certainly hard to talk while holding a bear in your mouth. With that Orchu began lightly trotting; Rami in tow, into the dense trees of the forest.

--------------------

Well, she had been in the forest for quite some time due to her recent visit to her Teepee where she had been received with an odd glance from her companion who had been otherwise occupied with more 'scientific breakthroughs' or whatever he referred to him as - all she knew was that he was chattering idly to nothing in particularly and was content to continue with this.

Releasing a sigh however she drew her equine lips into a delighted smile and began to hum at the top of her lungs as though she deemed it suitably impossible to run into anyone in the forest for, as far as she was aware they all gathered on the clearing...

"Feeling hot, hot, hot!" She sang joyously and bopped her head from side to side until her mane seemed to give the illusion of flames, each lock of orange, gold and red catching the light that managed to penetrate the canopy.

--------------------

Orchu's mouth was getting tired from carrying Rami who still hadn't ceased his squirming protests. The stallion rolled his eyes defiantly as the bear let out a particularly loud growl; causing a few birds in near by trees to take flight in surprise. Slowing his pace to a walk; he began to hear a faint voice. Is someone singing? He puzzled. The stallion perked his ears up and noticed Rami had tensed and grown quiet, straining to hear the noise. Orchu came to a halt and looked around curiously through the trees. A flash of red caught his attention and Orchu shied slightly; Rami letting out a surprised growl. The red object in question appeared from behind more trees and Orchu recognized it as a soquili. Oh it's just Yei. She must have been flipping her hair and that's what caught my attention. Hot, hot, hot. Great song.... Orchu swished his tail and began walking towards her. "Yei!" He tried calling to her; but a muffled grunt escaped his lips due to Rami's thick coat. This is ridiculous. He though; imagining how stupid he must look. Halting; Orchu arched his neck and placed Rami at his feet. "Yei!" He neighed to the fiery red mare.

--------------------

Orchu's 'Yei' soon became 'Vei' ...or according to her ears 'Wei'. She furrowed her brow at the first all and shook her head as she tried to register the phrase before at last it was repeated in a much more understandable tone, it was even pronounced right this time and she gave a whicker of appreciation as she stopped bobbing her head and turned her gaze towards the voice.

Orchu....? She mused thoughtfully to herself before at last drawing near the stallion who, from her current position was masked by the shadows. It was only as she drew nearer that she recognized the white flecks on his wings and gave a small chuckle of appreciation - needless to say that regardless of how 'grumpy' she had viewed him as before, it was nice to see a familiar face.

"Well, well, well." She chimed before catching sight of the fluffy ball at his feet, her eyes promptly widened at this and she gave a squeal of what appeared to be delight.

"Oh, it's so cute!" She cried.

--------------------

Orchu's featured flickered into a smirk as Yei approached him. "Yei." He bowed his head to the mare for a few moments. "How are you?" The stallion jerked slightly when startled by Yei's cry of joy. Looking down upon his familiar Orchu smiled. He arched his neck down to whisper in the bear's ear; making sure Yei couldn't hear. Orchu winked to the tiny creature. "You got that?" He asked lightly. The bear growled lightly and gave a slight nod of it's head. The stallion nudged the bear lightly on his back.

The bear got to his feet and walked slowly to the red mare. Falling back the bear looked up at Yei. "Eeeehh Yeeeee." He said with a small growl. "Meeee Raahhhh." The bear waited; flicking his ears about.

Orchu chuckled lightly watching his familiar fondly. Not bad for one of his first tries at talking. Looking up at Yei; Orchu grinned. "This little fellow's name is Rami. It's pronounced Rah-me." The stallion nodded slightly; more to himself than the mare.

--------------------

She didn't care whether or not she understood what the bear was saying, all that mattered was that it was terribly adorable and she gave another giggle as she lowered her head to nuzzle briefly at the top of the now identified "Rami's" head, needless to say she was not overwhelmed with maternal feelings but she still wanted one - who wouldn't for all their sanity was worth?

"Oh, he's adorable." She breathed softly as she lifted her head once more and offered an appreciative smile towards the stallion, who she was forced to take a double take of given the fact that he was grinning as opposed to the last time they had met, the quiet and serious demeanor he portrayed in their first meeting was almost completely void!

"So," She paused as she flicked the forelock out of her eyes with a shake of her head and quirked a brow, "How have you been?"

--------------------

Orchu admiringly watched the exchange between Yei Umeko and Rami. Yei had apparently dropped her somewhat hostile approach before toward Orchu; as she has prior called him grumpy. Well Orchu had been per say miserable the first time they had met; his once content disposition returned. "I think so too." He responded with a slight tilt of his head. "I've wanted a familiar for a while now; I am rather pleased to have received one as you can probably imagine." Orchu stopped his back hoof against the solid ground.

Rami looked up from Orchu to Yei then back to Orchu. The confused bear had no idea what was going on and had a rather dazed expression on his features. Growling lightly the bear grabbed his feet with his paws and toppled onto his back. Continuing to roll about Rami attempted to swat at the decorative feathers attached to his ear.

Orchu looked down to his familiar and chuckled at Rami's unorthodox behavior. "I have been good Yei. How have you been keeping?" The stallion asked pleasantly; eyes traveling back upon the mare.

--------------------

"I feel like I have been strung up with all the traveling I have done in recent days but otherwise I am ablaze with happiness." She confessed in a rather articulate manner before quirking a brow at the antics of Rami who she deemed to be incredibly adorable, he made her want one of her own more and more but she wasn't sure how Achak would respond to such a desire...even if he couldn't understand her verbally he seemed to know what her eyes expressed.

"I certainly haven't been lonely." She mused as she reflected upon all her meetings with innumerable Soquili although her meeting with Orchu was perhaps the most prominent of all for he had been one of the first she had ever clapped eyes upon since her descent from the mountains where her kind were scarce.

"How did you acquire him?" She enquired finally as she treaded along the safest line of conversation she could until she assessed the situation fully and made an estimated guess in relation to how far she could push him with her jests...

--------------------

Orchu nodded. "Traveling eh. Sounds exciting. For where have your recent adventures taken you to have left you quite so content?" The stallion was passionate about adventure and especially danger. Chuckled to himself he wondered, What kind of male is one who doesn't like danger and would rather spend his days living in a safe manor? Hell that would be little fun. Living life on the edge is far more thrilling. Orchu frowned upon the mare's lonesome words. "For you are lonely? Well we can't have that now can we! I am generally around my friends, Polar and now my familiar Rami. They keep my spirits rather high; making it difficult to find my self in a state of loneliness." Orchu wondered if her source of loneliness came from of craving of something she could not acquire; a familiar perhaps. "Ah Polar found Rami. It was late last night, past midnight I am assuming. As you probably know it was pouring yesterday evening. Dreadful weather. Polar was having trouble sleeping and she heard some low growls coming from outside our tent. Her curious nature lead her outside to find this little bundle in a cluster of bushes attempt to seek shelter from the rain." Orchu looked sadly at Rami; thinking how horrible it must have been to be alone in such conditions.

--------------------

"I was aware of the weather." Yei replied rather ruefully as she motioned towards her flank and the weather beaten surface of her red coat that she hadn't had time to tend to as she focused primarily on descending the mushy mountainside slopes - due to the lack of long grass there, there was very rarely any grip and without wings she had indeed had quite a hassle of it.

"It's just unfortunate that someone so small had to be alone." She pointed out before raising her eyes heavenwards to observe the canopy of trees and the delicate rays of light that sometimes penetrated through it to speckle the ground beneath her feet.

"And as for where I've been - " She hesitated for an instance before offering a delicate smile, "Aside from meeting so many new faces I simply visited the very peaks of the mountainside I live upon. I was curious..." She trailed away again and eyed the small familiar fondly once more, "I remember coming out of that mist but always wondered where it led, so I went up." She cooed and released a shy laugh as though climbing up a rocky mountainside was not a momentous feat for one without wings.

--------------------

Orchu scanned her coat closely; there appeared to be dried mud splashed upon her once perfectly groomed goat Orchu remembered from the first time they had met. "Ah. No offense Yei but your looking rather worse for wear. Perhaps we could venture to the river and take a bath. It will be fun taking a quick swim and I'm sure Rami would like the opportunity to search for more fish in the river. I regret there were no fish in the tributary we visited early; although Rami didn't seem to catch onto that fact. Little fellow was splashing about hopelessly determined to catch some kind of meal." He watched the bear with a hint of pity in his dark eyes." Orchu looked back at Yei inquisitively. "You ventured into the mountains? The rocky terrain certainly is difficult to navigate over. Loose rocks every where; most terrible." He closed his eyes and shook his head wearily.

--------------------

"How observant of you." She couldn't help but allow the sarcasm to trail from her equine lips and then with a delicate chuckle she offered a light nuzzle to his shoulder as if to indicate that it was to be taken in jest as opposed to any form of distaste - if she were entirely honest she would rather like to bathe as her coat was in need of some care but she wasn't surprised in the slightest that he would advise such a thing.

"And I do live in the mountains, it's only logical to clamber further up every now and again." She mused as she delicately shook her head to readjust the positioning of her 'fiery' mane, she was pleased to see it flow into the place she desired. "Besides, I rather like to explore and I hadn't been there before, although I have to admit that given the weather it wasn't my most educate of decisions." She confessed and canted her head to the side.

"As for bathing, I wouldn't mind in the slightest - I just hope your companion can swim..."

--------------------

Orchu felt a nagging feeling to stick his tongue out at the sarcastic mare, although he was aware so was only joking with him. He was surprised when Yei nuzzled him but never the less nipped playfully at her mane in return and began chuckling as well. The stallion enjoyed light sarcasm and being playful at times; although he had seldom acted in such a demeanor since he had grown from being a colt. Orchu tilted his head; flicking his ears about. "You live in the mountains? Which area pray tell; and do you have a teepee in which you live?" He felt obnoxious asking so many questions and grinned sheepishly at the mare. For he meant not to be that of intruding upon her life and personal information which the mare might wish to elude from him. Orchu laughed lightly. "No; it truthfully doesn't seem as though it was a wise decision. Although luckily it can be washed away." He winked at her and smirked inwardly to himself. "And now Yei I feel we should head towards the river. Rami will be fine I can assure you; bears are born swimmers." He nodded at Yei and looked down at his familiar, gesturing with his muzzle the bear should come with them. Orchu staring walking towards the outskirts of the forest; he knew the river lie beyond the clearing which was just outside the lining of the forest.

A strange green stallion watched the lands around him. Next to his golden hooves was a beautiful black and red colored basket. He would fulfill his duties as an upcoming father. He was going to have some time with his child like any normal father would. He was curious as to what his child would look like. Resi was watching over the green sibling at the moment. He couldn't wait for his children to come out a play.

Walking up to the edge of a nearby river to take a drink, Verloren didn't take his golden eyes off his child. He was going to be responsible! Which was quite a feat for such a playful soquili.

--------------------

Orchu walked slowly through the lush meadow; he'd generally trot or canter to feel the wind flowing through his white mane but it was certainly impossible for the stallion to manage either of those gates at the present time. This was due to the small bear and wolf running and frolicking playfully around his hooves with one another and attempting to balance a basket upon his back. Orchu meandered slowly towards the river. He was becoming thirsty as he knew were the two familiars below his. Rami and Lux had been getting along well and playing amongst themselves and a dip in the river would be refreshing for all of them. As Orchu approached the stream he noticed there was another soquili at the water's edge; as well as a basket near the soquili. Orchu flickered his ears forward and kept his eyes intently upon the male. Orchu neighed lightly to the stallion and continued walking to the bank of the river. As he reached the soquili he bowed his head momentarily. "Hello. I am Orchu." He greeted the other casually. Lux yelped playfully and Orchu flipped his mane, grinning slightly at this new acquaintance.

--------------------

Verloren lifted his head from the river as water gently dripped down his face. He lightly neighed and bowed his head in return. "Hi. I'm Verloren. Nice to meet you." Curious golden eyes watched as the older male soquili carefully balanced a basket much like his own child's, except of obvious color difference, upon his back. He also noted the older stallion's grand wings. "Ah. You're going to be a father too? Congratulations to you Orchu!" Verloren smiled at Orchu and his familiar companions. He'd seen various creatures accompany other soquili and they absolutely fascinated him. Though, it was rare to see a bear in the company of a soquili. He admitted to himself that this was probably the first bear he'd ever encountered.

--------------------

Orchu nodded. "Pleasure to meet you as well." Orchu's eyes flickered down to the black and red basket before returning to meet the stallion's gaze. "As a matter of fact yes I am. This one with me is Nora." He gestured with his muzzle to the basket resting upon his basket. "Nora." He cooed softly; nudging the basket gently. A light whinny escape the woven confines and Orchu chuckled softly. "Congratulations to you as well Verloren. Who is the lucky mare?" He winked cheekily to the stallion. Orchu recalled meeting a female soquili with the same colors of those upon the basket next to Verloren however he could not place her name off the top of his head. As he waited for a reply he noticed the stallion eyeing the two playful familiars at his hooves. "The bear is Rami and the wolf Lux. My human found Rami and gave him to me and Lux is Auri's familiar. She is still in her basket however so my human thinks it best Lux stays with Rami and I until she emerges." Orchu told his new companion thoughtfully.

--------------------

"Nora is a wonderful name. When my child comes out of their basket, I hope to give them a good name." Upon the mention of a certain lucky mare, Verloren looked away at the river for a second as his hooves shifted around. A warm feeling rose in his cheeks. "Their mother's name is Resi. She's taking care of our other child right now, who happens to be green. The child that I'm watching takes after their mother. Golden hooves lightly touched the earth as Verloren touched the basket with his muzzle. The basket trembled ever so slightly as their father's touch. "And who's the mother of your children?" The green stallion asked because there might have been a chance that he knew them... then again, perhaps not for this was the first time he encountered Orchu.

"Familiars, eh?" Verloren lifted his head from the basket and turned to look at Orchu and his companions. "Well, its nice to meet you as well Rami and Lux." A minty green, short mane bobbed up and down as Verloren bowed his head.

--------------------

Orchu smiled. "Polar suggested the name Nora and quite frankly I am rather fond of it. It's short and sweet. And I'm sure you will name your children with names that suite them well. Resi?" This name was familiar and he attempted to place the mare. "I have met Resi before. Once when I was in my basket as a matter of fact and a second time when I was a foal. It is a shame I have not seen her in a while. Give her my best wishes next time you are with her?" Orchu frowned a little at first but brightened up at the hope of meeting the mare again. "My mate is the winged mare Kasumi. Have you met many winged soquili before?" Orchu pondered his question; for he himself even had not encountered many of his descent before. Kasumi and Nipper were the only prominent wind soquili he could think of. Orchu looked down at the two familiars by his side as Verloren spoke a few words of greeting to them. Rami growled lightly in response and Lux yipped happily.

--------------------

"Hah," Verloren nodded in response to the name statement. Surely, he would think of a nice name. Perhaps Cocheta would know of a nice one as well. Listening to Orchu speak about Resi, the green stallion made a note to himself to tell Resi about the black and white winged stallion. "I know she'd be happy to see you again. I'll tell her you sent her your regards." To Verloren, it was nice to get into contact again with previously met soquili. He had very little experience in such a field. Perhaps it was because of his travel some nature. "Kasumi? Sorry, I'm afraid I've never met her before. Do send her my congratulations when you see her again though."

Golden eyes looked off into the distance as Verloren pondered over the final question Orchu asked. How many winged soquili had he met... "Ah. I believe that there's only one other winged soquili that I met. That would be the fine mare Eris. Though, I haven't seen her or Zatarra lately. Winged soquili aren't very common. You're the second one I've met if I remember correctly." With the growl and the yip, Verloren looked down at the two familiars and chuckled in a playful sort of manner.

--------------------

Orchu's eyes twinkled. "And I'd be pleased to see her again. I will inform Kasumi of your well wishing towards our family. Nora's basket resembles her mother the highest out of our three young. Perhaps it is the reason Polar choose this basket." His eyes rested upon the white basket with lilac markings stationed upon his back. "Polar is rather fond of Kasumi; as am I." He chuckled softly. "One of our other baskets is probably with their mother at the moment. Our third was given away to a human close to the humans of Kasumi and I. They are all in a tight group of friends apparently. This pleases me; for I feel assured I will see all of my children frequently." Orchu nodded firmly to himself. The stallion could not imagination his children growing up away from their parents; it just didn't seem right. Orchu tilted his head in a inquisitive manor. "Eris? For I have never met her or this Zatarra you have mentioned. If ever I meet them I will be certain to mention your name to them." Thoughtfully he stated. "Only the second? Shame there does not seem to be more. The stallion Nipper is of winged descent. I am not familiar with many others." Orchu swished his tail.

--------------------

"Yes, that is a bit sad I must unfortunately say." Verloren was quite fascinated by winged soquili. He always wondered what it felt like to soar in the sky with wide open wings. "But, I've also heard about many other winged soquili from here and there so the numbers don't seem to be as small as one might think." He kept a note to himself to visit Eris again. Once his child appeared from her basket, he thought that Eris would have fun with the young foal. Zatarra as well. Listening to more of Orchu's conversation, Verloren's head bobbed up and down in agreement to what the older stallion said about his own children. "That's nice to know. Currently, my human and Resi's human companion will watch after our children if anything comes up. Though, I do believe that both are always on the look out for any worthy human who wishes to care for a soquili." Verloren's ears twitched a little as he smiled at Orchu. "Perhaps our children can play together sometime Orchu. I think that'd be fun."

--------------------

Orchu shrugged. "I guess there must be more out there neither of us have met; but I regret not having met them somewhat." The stallion trailed off pondering. Will my children have wings? Kasumi and himself both were blessed with the rare gene that enabled soquili to fly. It would seem his children would have the gene as well; although he wasn't sure of quite the extent of the rarity. Orchu wished that all of his children had wings; more for them just so that the children wouldn't resent one another if one didn't have wings and the other siblings did. Just the very notion didn't seem fair. He was broken from his reverie as Verloren began speaking once more. "Yes, I believe Nora will stay with her mother or myself most of the time as well as the other child in our care until they are old enough to be on their own. I'm sure they'd have a marvelous time playing in a large group. Perhaps we can have a big family get together between our two families." Orchu laughed lightly as he tried to in picture a large gathering of soquili foals and their parents.

--------------------

As quiet surrounded the area, Verloren watched Orchu in his moment of thought. The stallion seemed to be thinking about something very, very important but he didn't press into the matter. It was best that some things were not pushed. As Orchu broke the silence, Verloren smiled again. "Yes, that would be a splendid idea. It would be quite the gathering."

His dark colored ears perked up at a familiar sound. Not too far away, he noticed his human companion. "Ah, it seems that I should be taking my leave. Night is falling upon the earth." Walking towards his child's basket, his human companion, Cocheta walked towards the basket and heaved it upon his back. She balanced it to make sure it wouldn't fall off. Before Verloren walked off, he turned his head to look at Orchu, Rami and Lux. "I hope we meet again. Bye!" With that parting, Verloren, his child and Cocheta made their long journey homewards.

Rami growled lightly and pawed playfully at Lux's muzzle. The wolf had attached itself upon the bear's ear minutes before and the bear was becoming agitated. Rami swatted at Lux's tail and shook his head wildly. Growling louder this time the bear finally detached Lux from his ear and rolled onto his back.

Lux yelped at Rami and pounced onto the bear's exposed stomach.

The playful pup didn't seem to take the hint and Rami's paw collided with the side of Lux's head; making the pup yelp in mild pain and scurry off the annoyed bear.

Lux ran with his tail between his legs; keeping his eyes firmly upon Rami as headed behind Orchu for safety.

Orchu rolled his eyes in annoyance at the two familiar from where he was laying next to his daughter's basket. "Serves you right Lux, you knew quite well Rami wasn't in the mood to play anymore after you bit his ear."

Lux barred his fangs at the large stallion and snarled lightly.

Orchu glared at the feisty wolf and neighed pointedly at him; silencing the wolf. "Auri's going to have one heck of a time dealing with you once she comes out of her basket." The stallion shook his mane and nudged the basket beside him lightly with his muzzle.

The basket shuddered and Nora whinnied lightly from inside the basket's woven confines.

--------------------

The silvery cougar ran past the stallion and his basket with a roar, a look of fear on her face.

Diigiun barked after the feline, perusing her quickly. "Get back here you lil' pansy!" She called after.

The little blue foal darted past, following the icy wolf. "Diigiun! Don't tease the kitty!" Glow some home managed to trip and tumbled just past the other horses and knocked into a tree. "Oof!"

Sirrus came in shortly after, shaking his head and sighing at the little on deemed his sister. He glanced and saw the black stallion laying with his basket. "Afternoon!" he grinned.

--------------------

Rami rolled over onto his feet and froze in shock as the cougar roared. The bear tilted his head and growled in response.

Lux blinked at the wolf and slowly approached; sniffing curiously. Lux's ears flickered upward and he swished his tail. The wolf's gold eyes stared at Diigiun and Lux yipped at her.

Nora trembled violently in her basket. She whinnied loudly. "What's going on?" Her basket shook once more before falling silent.

Orchu watched the interaction with the four creatures that had just wandered towards him and the others. The stallion blinked curiously up at the blue, white and gray winged stallion. "Hello..." Orchu stated. "My name is Orchu. Have we met before?" Although Orchu did not recognize the stallion his voice seemed vaguely familiar.

--------------------

Whisp managed up a tree, hissing loudly down at the white canine that had chased her. "Do you have NOTHING better to do?!"

Diigiun flashed a devilish grin as she reached the base of the tree. "What are you talking about? I'm a dog, you're a cat... It's my JOB!" Her ears perked a bit as she turned to find a black wolf nearby. Curling her lip slightly, her fur would bristle.

The light blue stallion smiled, "Well well... I THOUGHT it was you... I remember you when you were this big." He motioned towards the basket with a chuckle. "I'm Sirrus. My mate and I pestered you a bit when you were just a colt."

Huffing and managing to roll back onto her feet, she flicked the dust off her bum with her tail and pranced back over to her brother. "Sirrus! Aren't you going to introduce me?"

--------------------

Rami watched interested as the cougar darted up the tree away from the pale blue wolf. He strolled over to the tree and climbed up after the cougar. As he reached the branch Whisp was perched on; Rami growled lightly to her. He slowly ambled over to her and prodded her with a white paw. Once again he growled lightly and shook his head; causing the feathers on his ear to rustle lightly.

Lux stared at Diigiun with curious eyes. "Hello." He said cautiously. "I am Lux..." The wolf trailed off and flicked his tail.

Orchu grinned broadly and Sirrus gestured to his daughter's basket. "Very true my old friend. It has been too long. You are referring to Neferti I assume? Mates, eh? Well Congratulations! For I have not seen Neferti in a long time either; how is she pray tell?" Orchu was eager to meet Neferti again and was very content at finally seeing Sirrus again; or well for the first time since he emerged from his basket. Orchu eyes flickered to the filly as she approached him and Sirrus; intrigued by her curious wings.

--------------------

The cougar's ears flattened back and she swatted at the paw that tried to prod her. "Why is everyone ganging up on me?!" She arched her back, her tail puffed.

When she was addressed, Dii looked unimpressed at the male wolf. "Hello..." she sighed then glanced back up the tree. "Your friend is scaring my prey..."

Sirrus chuckled at the 'congratulations' of sorts. "My mate is well. Though, I wish she were here." He then raised a brow at the little butterfly-winged foal. "This is my little sister Glow... Glow, this is Orchu."

Bowing her head, she flicked her wings and smiled, "It's a pleasure to meet you, Mr. Orchu..."

--------------------

Rami blinked and tilted his head. "Mwar?" The little black bear growled out a response to the cougar's question; if 'mwar' could technically be considered as an appropriate answer. The bear sat down and leaned his back against the tree. Rami grabbed his back feet with his paws and rocked back and forth awkwardly against the tree's rough bark.

Lux pinned his ears back and frowned at the pale blue wolf. The wolf's eyes traveled up to his bear companion. "That's Rami and he's doing nothing of the sort." He said defiantly before sitting in a poised position. This wolf certainly wasn't very compassionate it seemed and Lux held his head high; as if to say, "I'm better than you so don't give me attitude."

Orchu smirked. "I too wish my mate was here; for then you will be able to meet her... Unless you already have." The stallion frowned slightly. "Have you met the winged mare Kasumi?" Orchu's attention turned to the foal before him and he got to his feet before bowing his head to her. "Hello Glow, for the pleasure is all mine. You have rather intriguing wings though I must admit they certainly are beautiful. Tell me Glow; for what breed of soquili are you? I have never met another with such unorthodox wings." Orchu grinned to the foal and waited for a reply.

.Misty Mountain :: Orchu and Couscous.

Wary eyes scanned the thick atmosphere. With the dense fog shrouding everything in darkness, danger seemed to lurk through every turn and step. The two dark brown eyes narrowed and adjusted to the dim area. It wasn't a place traveled through very often... or at all. But today was different. A fresh, chilly cold breeze flew through the air. It affected all but one Soquili stallion walking at quite a slow pace calmly at the mountain's base.

His mane blew and tossed turbulently in the wind, though he did not mind. His visage remained stony and contemplative while walking through the gloomy scenery. He did not care if he was alone in this trek near the mountain, for he did not wish to see or meet anyone at this moment. He had had enough time with others--his family were safe near the lake a long ways off from where he currently was. Besides, he enjoyed spending time alone with himself... ever since...

--------------------

Orchu's eyes flashed open as sound illuminated through the dense silence of the fog over the mountain's base. The thick shroud was impossible to penetrate with one's eyes and Orchu blindly scanned the mist before him. The stallion's ears strained to identify the sound; it was a heavy clopping wandering at a slow pace. Orchu frowned as he continued listening to the continual noise. It sounded as though it were the hooves of a Soquili beating upon the solid rock of the mountain. Who would be out upon the mountain this late at night? He pondering curiously. For Orchu had been sleeping restlessly next to Nora's basket as well and Rami and Lux. Rami and Lux had decided earlier to attempt to give Orchu the slip and they had taken up off the mountain growling and howling playfully. Orchu had been balancing Nora's basket upon his back whist managing a slow walk; unable to check up with the rambunctious familiars Orchu had slowly followed; reprimanding them at a distance. The two creatures had traveled far up the mountain and only ceased their journey when they had became tired. The stallion had then proceeded to lead the two familiars successfully down the mountain; however nightfall came as they had reached its base. Not daring to fly through the ominous fog suspended over the mountain and the valley Orchu had deemed it best they all slept there for the night and returned to their teepee come morning light. Lux and Rami shortly fell asleep beside an uncomfortable Orchu due to their exhaustion. The stallion however was unable to sleep and now found himself still listening to the clasping of the hooves. The small group was gathered just off the main rocky path leading down the mountain slope near a large tree sprouting from the rocky terrain. Gaining his composure; Orchu rose and stood eyes intent on the path. Suddenly from the mist emerged a gray and black stallion. Orchu was shocked at first but frowned defiantly against his own cowardice thoughts upon this night and approached the stallion. He cleared his throat to gather the other's attention and inclined his head in a momentary bow. "Hello sir. You seem to be out rather late. My name is Orchu." The stallion's words erupted boldly from his mouth though he felt less than confident.

--------------------

The stallion halted. There was another in the same vicinity as him? Odd, and he thought he had the mountain all to himself, being late as it was. Slowly, he gave the other black-white stallion a customary bow as well. He couldn't quite see what the other looked like without getting very close to him--within a few inches away, he may have been able to carefully inspect other markings or colorations, but for now, he was too far away, and only made out distinct shades of black and white. He stood his ground and kept a comfortable distance between himself and the other stallion. He wasn't so sure if this would be an enemy or friend, though the other's voice seemed to falter just a bit--he could tell. Maybe it wouldn't be anything so dangerous at all.

"Hello," his voice came out coldly, "I am Couscous." He paused a bit before eyeing the two white attachments to the other Soquili's flanks. It reminded him vaguely of someone he had known before... Ah, this was a winged Soquili. He squinted painfully as it brought back memories that he wished to be forgotten; memories that needed to be washed away.

He continued after the brief moment of reminiscing, taking a few steps closer to Orchu, yet also starting to circle around him. "I can say the same to you--you yourself are out rather late. And... Ah, with a few friends and items that belong to you, I may also add?" He had walked close to the point where he sensed the other creatures and life slumbering--friends of the stallion, perhaps--near Orchu.

--------------------

Orchu kept his steel eyes firmly gazed upon the stallion. This stallion, Couscous rather, seemed to radiate a hostile aura. Orchu furrowed his brow as he frowned ever so slightly. For Couscous reminded Orchu of himself when he had first come out of isolation during the winter months of being stuck in the buckskin teepee with his human Polar. He had been bitter and cold to other Soquili when he had first reopened to the world and those around him. However, as Orchu began getting out more and reacquainting with old friends he became that playful foal he had once been. Perhaps some tragic experience has occurred recently to this stallion and he is left with bitter feelings encompassing him in which he is having trouble letting go. Upon his first few days outside his teepee Orchu had felt as if he would never be the same again as the spite consumed him. Given time however he was once again able to open up; becoming more content and less reserved. Orchu noticed the stallion begun to circle him; but cared not. Couscous could not intimidate Orchu. Orchu was positive he could match the stallion before him in brawn and brain; even if the antic seemed cocky. Orchu regarded the Soquili as he spoke harshly. "I myself am out rather late I admit; but my lateness comes with a valid explanation. Oh tell me Couscous, does yours?" A brief smirk flashed over Orchu's delicate features. "Friends you could call them I suppose. With me is my daughter resting in her basket and the two familiars upon the ground are the forms of that of a wolf and a bear. What is it to you?" He asked pointedly; scrutinizing the stallion.

--------------------

Couscous stopped in his tracks and his whole attention and concentration fell upon Orchu. He seemed rather cranky or boastful--did this stallion not get enough sleep or something? It was a possibility, as Orchu seemed to be the only one out of his group who was awake. He eyed Orchu for a brief, awkward silent moment as if Orchu had been serious whilst speaking. His words just seemed too harsh and cruel, especially on a lone stallion such as himself.

"It does," he carefully said, choosing over his words cautiously. He decided to not give an immediate explanation as to why he was out so late, as Orchu technically did not ask for one. "What is your valid reasoning, then?" he asked plainly. Couscous snickered. He enjoyed playing with words like this--though he didn't mean to be hostile, perhaps the other stallion found it intriguing as well. A little exercise for the brain is good.

As Orchu took the time to explain his company nearby, Couscous glanced over once more before looking back at Orchu. That basket did seem familiar to him, having seen more of Orchu as he stepped closer... and it reminded him of someone he had already met. Before he turned back to Orchu, his eyes laid upon the wolf and bear guardedly--they were naturally predators, so by instinct, Couscous felt the need to keep a close eye on them, even though they were asleep. But as they were friends of this Soquili, maybe he wouldn't have to worry so much. "Nothing," he quietly answered. "Just curious." Couscous wished to say nothing more, as the other stallion seemed to attack him in words no matter what harmless things were said.

--------------------

Orchu hoped not to give a negative appearance to this new stallion; however Couscous proved to be doing this effectively. Orchu sighed and ruffled his wings a tad. "I am out this late upon the mountain due to the feral behaviors of the two familiars. As all of us were heading home they decided to take off up the mountain's slope. With my daughter's basket upon my back I could not manage a swift pace to catch them. I was not willing to leave my daughter's basket alone so I proceeded after the bear and wolf at the fastest pace I could perform while safely carrying the basket. By the time they were exhausted enough for me to catch them night fall had begun. I got the two familiars under control and we all made our way slowly down the mountain side. It was dark and fog had cascaded over the mountain by the time we reached time base. It seemed frivolous to walk home in these conditions. Alas I could not fly safely will all of them either through this mist so I made the decision to camp out but this tree." Orchu gestured to the tree the basket and familiars were peacefully resting under. "The rocky ground is rather uncomfortable though in comparison to the soft pelts lining the floor of our teepee. I found myself unable to achieve a comfortable position and have been up most of the night." He stifled a yawn and shook his mane. "Now per say do you mind giving an explanation?" He asked curiously. This stallion intrigued Orchu greatly; he seemed to enjoy twisted words and answering in a rather indirect way... As if he were avoiding something. "Curiosity killed the cat you know." He chuckled. Couscous's name suddenly felt highly familiar. Orchu had never met this stallion before; was it possible some other Soquili Orchu knew had mentioned this stallion before him? It is definitely a possibility. Who informed me of him prior to this encounter though? Orchu was left puzzling his thoughts as he waited for an explanation from Couscous.

--------------------

As Orchu proceeded onto his tale, Couscous listened on, half of his attention on him; the other half was subconsciously focused on the two familiars set on the ground, still snoozing on and quite unaware of the two conversing Soquili above them. He shifted uncomfortably throughout the telling, feeling rather awkward, as this was the first time in a while that he has had such a long one-on-one conversation. As Orchu finished his explanation, Couscous gave a quick, slight nod; almost like a swift, convulsive jerk of his head. The stallion before him seemed benevolent enough and good-willed; right in his actions and decisions. Couscous curled his lips upwards slightly in a half-smile; he approved. Perhaps the other stallion wasn't as offensive as he originally thought.

"Well," he started, "I commend you for your... eh, noble efforts, then." He sighed and looked slightly away from Orchu, now confronted with the same question. "I find it... satisfying, to walk alone and without company in the presence of solely nature." He then looked down towards the ground in front of his hooves. His introverted nature would surely puzzle the other stallion, and make him think less of Couscous. "It gives time for me to think deeply of things, and to... find things," he continued, feeling obligated give a further explanation.

"But anyways... The basket. The mare must be exceptionally lucky, to bare foals to such an altruistic stallion," he wandered off to another subject, hoping that the old one wouldn't be continued any longer. He even went so far as to compliment the other stallion--something rare of Couscous to do; and it was not dishonestly said.

--------------------

Throughout telling his tale of how he, the familiars and his daughter came to rest off the rocky path under the enormous oak tree, Orchu noticed Couscous had kept some of his attention focused upon the two familiars sleeping silently upon the uncomfortable landscape below them. Orchu was unable to comprehend why the stallion seemed so distracted by the two sleeping forms; though he realized he was being rather rude suddenly. "The bear is Rami and the wolf is Lux. Rami is my familiar and Lux belongs to Auri. My human, Polar, found Rami one night during a thunderstorm and she decided to give him to me. Polar also owns Auri, whom is currently in her basket still and incapable of caring for the wolf presently. He accompanies Rami and myself. I do my best to care for them both." Orchu nodded upon finishing his explanation of the two creatures. The stallion listened intently to Couscous. "I am aware of what you mean. It is comforting to me to sometimes be on my own. I am then able to sort through thoughts and others antics. It is rather relaxing. My favorite place to be alone is under the gigantic willow tree upon the edge of the forest by the clearing." Orchu attempted to establish a connective boundary between the two of them so they would have something in common. Orchu's features contorted in a distorted sarcastic smirk as the other complimented him. "Actually I consider myself the lucky one. My mate and I produced three baskets. The one with me takes most after the radiance of her mother's coloring and her name is Nora. Her mother Kasumi truly is wonderful." Orchu sighed contentedly as he thought of Kasumi.

--------------------

Ah, Orchu must have noticed him looking at the two familiars through the corner of his eyes. Couscous lowered his head apologetically and slightly smiled in embarrassment--he had forgotten his manners whilst Orchu was speaking, apparently. In his mind, Couscous marveled at how much Orchu explained about things; it was quite new to him, but made him feel a bit comfortable; pleased, even. He liked it better when someone else was talking instead of himself. Couscous's previously-slightly tense body relaxed a bit when Orchu connected with him on the matter of being alone; for Couscous, it was hard to find Soquili who enjoyed their own company in favor of others' company at times. The two might get along in the future, after all...

"...Kasumi!" Couscous exclaimed once Orchu mentioned the name. "So you are the one... You are Kasumi's mate. Pleasure to meet you," he bowed at once, as if Orchu had suddenly become an idol. Kasumi was an old friend of his--one he would never forget. After all, they shared the same teepee home with their two human companions. "No wonder I haven't seen her for a while. She was..." he chuckled, "she was off with you, and here you are now with children!" He smiled--a true smile, and laughed, regarding Orchu as if he were someone he had known for a very long time as well.

--------------------

Orchu nodded in response to Couscous. It seemed to Orchu that the gray and black stallion was slowly becoming politer and Orchu was glad they had met. The stallion also visibly relaxed after Orchu elaborated on prior topics; lengthening the interrogations of one another into a remarkably pleasant conversation. Orchu was somewhat startled as Kasumi's name fleeting from Couscous' mouth with such exclamation. "You are familiar with the mare Kasumi?" Orchu didn't even think about his inquiry until he questioned it and realized what a daft question it was. The stallion shook his head is dissatisfaction but his eyes gazed back on Couscous as he continued. "Yes, we have been blessed with three baskets. I am rather excited as well as timid about being a father. I am dying to see them once they emerge from their baskets." Orchu trailed off and his ears pinned back once he heard an ominous howling of a wolf through the silence apart from his and Couscous' words. "Which direction were you heading in before I abruptly cut in upon your journey? If you are not in any hurry to go somewhere in particular perhaps you wouldn't mind accompanying me to my teepee? We could place Rami, Lux and my daughter safely within the teepee then continue our conversation or perhaps venture to somewhere like the lake or something... The weather certainly is beautiful tonight despite this shroud. I'm afraid it is rather difficult to carry a basket as well as two familiars by myself and I do not wish to disturb their slumber..." The stallion's words trailed off again hoping Couscous wouldn't mind joining him to his teepee.

--------------------

Nodding vigorously at Orchu to confirm that he had indeed known Kasumi for quite a while, Couscous's smile grew even wider, glad that he had met this stallion on his travels. Although... he may have inevitably met him anyways, him being Kasumi's mate, after all. "You'll make a great father," he remarked, nodding to the asleep forms on the ground--he seemed to be already perfect in the caring and protecting department. The abrupt sound of the wolf took over Couscous's attention for a bit, but gave him no worry. He didn't mind, and sometimes even enjoyed listening to the lonely, desolate cries of wolves howling in the presence of the moon.

"I wasn't heading in any direction, really," Couscous thoughtfully said. "I was just meandering around, and when dawn broke I would have gone back to my teepee, where my family and humans were. They know I wander off a lot on my own, so they don't mind me when I disappear for a while." He pondered for a moment. Perhaps the sudden cry of the wolf worried Orchu, making him wish to leave the vicinity at once; even more so because he had the basket and familiars with him. "Alright," he consented, "I will accompany you to your teepee. Where do you live? I myself actually live near the lake. And yes, the weather..." He eyed the surrounding fog covering the place. He had to admit, he wasn't used to the weather and climate, but it was quite comforting. "Who shall I carry?" he inquired suddenly.

--------------------

Orchu smiled genuinely. "I seriously doubt that but thank you for such an admirable comment. I have a certain feeling you would prove to be a most wonderful father as well. Do you have a mate?" The stallion recalled Kasumi mentioning the names Couscous, Rei, and Maize although Orchu had never met any of the three Soquili prior to this encounter with Couscous. All he knew was that he aforementioned Soquili shared a teepee with Kasumi and there were two human who lived with the four Soquili. "That's how I am." Orchu stated after listening intently to Couscous. "I generally leave in the morning and wander about during the day and return to the teepee just past nightfall. Polar knows I'll be fine on my own. Ah thank you Couscous. I live in the mountains actually.... well it's...." Orchu blinked and looked up and down the path. "That way." He gestured with his muzzle in the direction the path continued winding on towards if Couscous had passed by him earlier. "We need to follow that path father along the base then take the path leading back up to the mountains; it's not a long hike up and then we should be able to spot a tributary and follow it until we reach my teepee." Orchu frowned at his own lack of proper directions. "If you don't mind doing so I'd appreciate if you could carry Lux." The stallion turned and headed to the tree to his sleeping companions. Orchu laid down and extended one of his wings out next to the basket. Slowly he nudged it up his wings and safely onto his back; nestled securely between his feathery wings. Orchu slowly stood up once more and gently picked Rami up by the scruff of his neck. The bear growled lightly in his sleep yet stirred no more as Orchu placed the black bear in front on the basket on his back. The stallion waited for Couscous to grab Lux before they would begin walked along the rocky path.

--------------------

"Ah, no need for a gloomy outlook on the future of your kin," Couscous consoled. "And... ah, thank you..." he trailed, "I am already a father to three; two are in my care... they are called Maize and Rei... and, uh..." He looked into the distance wistfully away from Orchu, recalling the memories of his former "mate". "The other one is with his mother. I have not seen my son or the mother for a very long time, but I do know that she has been... well, unfaithful to me, and now has three children in addition to the three we bore together." He glanced back at Orchu and put on a cool visage, as if he were fine with everything--but he was not. "She was a winged Soquili, and one of my daughters received the gift of her wings. The other two are not... I guess grounded Soquili weren't suitable enough for the mother." He threw back his head and roared with a shaky laughter, making the pebbles underneath shake unwillingly; an echo followed in the darkness as if something were laughing at him instead. After regaining his posterity, he snorted and looked away once more, and a twisted, contorted smile spread across his muzzle. "...And she is called Stormwild," he seemed to hiss out in lamentation.

"Lux it is," he mumbled as he moped over to the wolf familiar. He instinctively paused for a moment, and then deciding that the wolf wasn't as dangerous as his innate senses screamed at it to have been, picked it up lightly in the same fashion as Orchu, placing it gently on his back. He wavered a bit in the moonlight before he walked over to Orchu's side, practicing the balance of the wolf in proportion to his back so it wouldn't fall off easily. "Lead the way," he softly said, and managed a feeble smile, trying to forget the earlier conversation about mates and Stormwild.

--------------------

Orchu chuckled lightly at the thought of his 'kin'. The stallion was eager to see his children once they emerged from their baskets. Steel eyes paused momentarily upon his daughter's white basket. Nora had been within her basket a long time... Will Nora ever come out of her basket as well as her siblings? Orchu pondered tentatively. He had taken a long time to emerge from his basket, but certainly not this long. The stallion shook his head to awake himself from his reverie, causing his white mane to flip about. "Ah pardon me, I was not aware you already had children; how rude of me to make assumptions." Orchu bowed his head in an apology. "Rei and Maize are wonderful names if I may say so. You have never seen your son?" Orchu frowned and let out a cross between a exasperated sigh and a snort. "I pity your son. No offense or anything of course, but it must be upsetting to have never met your father especially when he is such a fine Soquili as you yourself are." He listened closely as Couscous told of Stormwild's actions. "That is outrageous, simply outrageous. If two are mates they should always remain together! That is inexcusable riffraff running off with another! Such an undignified mare if you don't mind me saying so. It is fine of course if two are not mates and breed, but how mates can separate is beyond me. This incident of course is most certainly not your fault. Having children with another. Inexcusable, inexcusable." Orchu shook his head in disappointment. He did not mean to rant in such a manner and he hopefully had not offended Couscous by his notions. "If Kasumi went off with another and had children I think I would absolutely go berserk, I'm sure you know what I mean..." Orchu let his voice drift off and felt incredibly arrogant suddenly. He needed to control his composure, at this point he was exposing it so openly and only negative results would up rise in due course. The stallion watched Couscous as he wearily proceeded to pick up Lux. Orchu nodded at Couscous and began walking; his hooves clapping against the rocky ground. "Polar, Kasey and Cheryl have recently expanded the teepee upon which I dwell. It was becoming a bit crowded. Kasey and Cheryl own Auri and Lux along with Polar. And then you see Polar shares Nora with Kasey, and Cheryl shares Demon with Polar. Demon is a stallion with markings like a husky. Cheryl simply adores him and won him recently somehow..." Orchu flicked his tail. "Polar, Kasey, Cheryl, Nora, Auri, Demon, Rami, Lux and myself all share the teepee so as you can probably imagine it is rather extravagant in size... Kasey made some markings on the outside of the teepee usually dye, she is quite the artist." Steel eyes focused on the ominous path ahead as they made their way along the path.

--------------------

Couscous smiled warmly, nodding lightly. "No no, it's fine. Most assume I don't have children, as I no longer have the scent of a mare on me, nor do I seem like a father..." he trailed off, ignoring Orchu's question of whether he had seen his son or not, and drifted off in thought for a few moments right after. "Stormwild..." he muttered silently to himself, starting to walk away inch by inch without waiting for Orchu. The movement of his hooves became more awkward, and he made silent stomping-like motions whilst walking instead of walking normally. He made a gruff sound before shaking his head, realizing that he was still in conversation with the winged Soquili a little ways behind him. He noticed he had barely moved from his spot before, and shook his head yet again in slight embarrassment.

"Kasumi... I am sure she would never do that," he said meekly, "for she is kind, gentle, loyal... In all my days of living in the same home as her, not once has she proved to be malicious or conniving, or anything of that sort."

He partially listened on as Orchu traveled ahead of him, mentioning the seemingly endless list of names of ones whom he was familiar with. It was as if he were spilling out his life story, yet the two had only just met. Couscous nodded politely and grunted after Orchu was done speaking. He prayed that Orchu wouldn't quiz him later or anything--had he been paying any attention, perhaps he would have not prayed for this. "So... many names. Interesting names," he lied, as he had forgotten them all, except Lux, who was currently on his back. "Kasumi and I... and my daughters reside in the teepee of two Indians. Starlight and Moon, they are called... named after the stars and the moon themselves. I don't see them much, as you know, for I am more often than not out by myself, away from their teepee." His eyes glanced upwards for a moment--hoping to catch a glimpse of the clean, fresh sky. But above him was mostly shrouded in dense fog and darkness, and he grunted in despair. He did not know where he was going, so he put all faith in Orchu. He dared not ask if he knew where he was going or not, as he was perhaps afraid of what his answer would be...

"Orchu..." He said in almost a whisper-like manner, "To pass the time... Do you know where you are from?" He looked upwards again, trying to find light--any trace of light at all from the sky in which he could delve in and find comfort with, but no luck. Or was it just him? Could he possibly be going blind? A light flickered in the distance in the corner of his eyes - a hint of light beyond the fog! Or... It could have been his imagination. He sighed. "If I have parents... I don't know who they are. Perhaps I was born without parents..."

--------------------

Orchu shrugged and sighed. "It is doubtful that I carry Kasumi's scent with me at this moment. For I have not been with her in a number of days." The stallion caught Couscous muttering words silently to himself from the corners of his steel eyes; but didn't catch what the Couscous was mumbling. Orchu shook his head; awakening from his thoughts. He had dazed off for a few seconds and he picked up his walk in order to reach Couscous; his hooves clashed against the rocky ground of the mountain path. The stallion noticed Couscous's movements were becoming irregular; which seemed most peculiar. Orchu frowned slightly and felt he should ask if Couscous were alright; but he held his tongue. I have probably caused him to be as he is so far on this night; best not say anything else that may create the situation to become worse... He informed himself. "No; I don't believe Kasumi would either. It's odd with our personalities being so different... yet we cooperate so well together. Opposites attract." He chuckled lightly. "My qualities pale in comparison among Kasumi's; that's just who I am though." Orchu continued conversing with the stallion; although Orchu's words seemed an endless monologue. A short way through the conversation the stallion noticed Couscous had ceased acknowledging his words. His voice became dull as he continued; wondering when Couscous would jolt back into reality. Orchu frowned at the stallion; his steel eyes nearly glaring at Couscous for not listening. "Interesting names yes." He drowned out. Orchu knew he and Couscous were drawing closer to his teepee; for he had just glimpsed the second stream necessary to pass out of four on the way to the buckskin teepee with orca painted upon the outside. "Where I am from?" The stallion repeated; abruptly halting as his eyes stared longingly into the darkness. Where... am I from? Orchu wondered; thunderstruck by the question. He cleared his throat and ambled along a brief ways behind Couscous. "No. I am afraid I do not. I believe I came from somewhere in the arctic region though... Polar enlightened me that she found me outside her teepee one snowy day... Other than that I am not aware from where I came. I am unconscious as to where my parents are as well." The stallion nodded as he told Couscous.

--------------------

Couscous nodded briefly after Orchu repeated his question. "I was found as well. I don't know my parents, either," he sighed. "But how does that make you feel?" His gaze continued boring holes into the sky. He felt more comfortable now that the gentle trickling of water from a stream floated towards his hearing. "How does it make you feel," he muttered again under his breath to himself. Apparently, this was one of those nights.

"But anyways, what did you mean about your qualities paling in comparison with Kasumi's? You have great qualities just like Kasumi, I'd bet. And now that you mention it, you do kind of smell like Kasumi. Kind of. Come with me to our teepee one day. I believe she usually stays there with her indian friends, though I cannot be quite sure as I don't often go there myself. Anyways... We must be nearing anytime by now? It's already been a while walking." He halted.

"You know, Orchu, it's been quite pleasant taking a midnight stroll with you. Perhaps we can meet again somewhere. Take a hike around the mountains. You can handle it, can't you? You've got wings, anyways. If you don't have the endurance to stand the mountains, you can fly," he humored, "but a stallion like yourself should be able to handle anything." He smiled to himself and continued along the path that would eventually bring the two to Orchu's teepee. After this journey was over, and after he returned to his own home, he would definately miss the company of Orchu for a while.

--------------------

Orchu frowned slightly and blinked; startled by Couscous' question. "I... never really thought about it I suppose..." The stallion answered tentatively. "Polar has just always been there for me it seems; it's not as if I dwell on my parents... I'd love to meet them if the opportunity arose and I'd be eager to know who they are given the chance yet... it seems so improbable either event would occur..." Orchu observed Couscous' expression as he spoke. I never knew Couscous could seem so emotional. It's as if a part of him is missing and he is longing to find that piece... The stallion drifted off; caught amidst a reverie. Orchu chuckled and grinned at Couscous. "Kasumi is wonderful and I... well... am not." He shrugged. "And I would enjoy that." Orchu beamed. "Perhaps then I will also have the pleasure of meeting your children; I'm sure they are wonderful. And yes we are drawing closer to my teepee." He informed the stallion. "I concur. If you are willing to make the journey we could meet in the caverns located at the mountain's summit. There are numerous entrances that lead in the caverns from along the path entwining up the mountain. My endurance is fair; I believe myself capable of the venture. You certainly will be able to handle the journey no doubt. I must admit I'd be somewhat disappointed if you weren't able to." Orchu jested politely. As the two stallions conversed they passed the third; and then fourth stream necessary to wander past in order to reach the buckskin teepee that Orchu called his home. "Home sweet home." Orchu muttered to himself as he glimpsed his teepee. The stallion smiled genuinely at Couscous. He led the way into his teepee; pushing aside the flap of hide as he entered. Quietly he strode over to the far side of the teepee; stepping around Auri's basket. Carefully the stallion lowered himself to the ground; he extended one of his wings and gently slid his daughter's basket off oh his back with his muzzle. Then Orchu picked Rami up by the scruff of his neck using his teeth; extracting a sharp growl from the sleeping bear. Rami swatted at the air with his paws and Orchu waited for the bear to cease his peculiar actions before placing him on soft furs lining the teepee floor beside Nora's basket. The stallion smiled up at Couscous. "That Indians sleeping over there are Polar, Kasey and Cheryl; this black and gold basket is Auri and that sleeping stallion over there is Demon; whom has the pelt of a husky." One by one Orchu gestured to the sleeping forms scattered about the teepee before his steel blue eyes fell back upon Couscous; a sheepish smile upon his face.

--------------------

"I see," Couscous replied. He wondered how one could be be so unlonging to meet their own parents -- they, of course, are the ones who bring life into existance. "And although Kasumi is wonderful, I am sure you have many redeeming qualities as well. Don't be so harsh on yourself. You must be as wonderful as Kasumi if she's your mate," he winked.

"Let's just see if you'll be able to keep up with me when that time comes, then," Couscous chuckled and nodded as the two stallions reached the teepee. As he followed Orchu into the teepee, he looked to his back as far as his head turned, and gently lowered himself onto the ground, letting gravity slide the wolf that had been on his back onto the teepee floor. He smiled and looked around the teepee. It looked big, yet comfy, as it had to house all the many inhabitants inside. "There are many living inside your home," he simply stated in slight awe and amusement. "Perhaps one day I will be able to talk to them too. But for now, I guess it is getting a little late, and I must retire to my own residence soon. I think the indians there or my children, or perhaps even Kasumi will get worried. We shall meet again one day when the winds are friendly to us." He smiled and stepped lightly out of the teepee, his back to Orchu. He saw complete darkness ahead of him, but would follow the sounds of nature and the moon above him to safety. "Keep in touch, my friend, and hope to meet you again soon in the caverns." His last words before he ran off to his own teepee echoed along with the clopping of his hooves on the cold, hard ground, and bounched back and forth among the rocks and pebbles on the floor which made it echo, sounding almost meaningful. But it was meaningful, and Couscous had meant every word of it.

--------------------

"I suppose." Orchu chuckled. "Keep up I will try." He winked at Couscous; a smirk adorning his facial expression. Orchu watched the wolf descend to the soft furs from Couscous' back and he nudged the sleeping form of Lux gently towards Auri black and gold basket. Orchu was fond of his teepee; it was comforting and warm. Polar, Kasey and Cheryl had performed a joint effort and had constructed the teepee well; it sealed out the cold and the floor was soft. "Yes..." Orchu stated. "We are one huge family. We rely on each other and support one another... They are a key portion of all I believe I will ever need... I'm sure you will have the chance of speaking with them all at some point in time. A wise decision; I'm sure they are beginning to worry. After all we have been out for a particularly long while." Steel blue eyes watched the gray stallion exit his teepee. "At the caverns it is. Good night my friend; I bid you a safe passage home." He replied to Couscous. Orchu listened to Couscous' hooves clashing against the rocky mountain until the last of the echoing died away. The stallion's steel blue eyes fled once about his teepee; he dearly loved all of the members of his family. Orchu drifted off into a peaceful slumber; thinking eagerly of how his next encounter with Couscous would turn out.

Splashing playfully in the shallow waters of the lake's edge, Tai whinnied a greeting to his mentor when the red-gold stallion and his snowy companion returned. Turning from her weaving, the young red-haired maiden waved as well, upsetting the giant golden bird on her shoulder.

--------------------

Kanti was restless. She had been avoiding being cooped up with the herd for several days now. Shaking her head to hear the familiar beads clatter against one another she headed toward a lake. She hadn't seen it before and decided that maybe it was worth a try to investigate.

--------------------

Orchu was casually walking through the clearing with his daughter's basket upon his back. He finally was without the company of Rami and Lux who were safely napping within the buckskin confines of Polar's teepee. The two familiars were also so troublesome and mischievous it was impossible to take have a moment's peace with them around. Perhaps I will venture to the lake and cool off in the water and meet one of my friends. I'd love to introduce them to my daughter; even if she is still within her basket. Orchu let his thoughts wander as the wind cascaded over the field. I'd believe Rami and Lux were trying to do me in if I didn't know any better. Orchu snorted indignantly and continued in the direction of the lake just outside of the clearing. As he approached the lake's edge he scanned the surrounding area. He stared curiously at two soquili and a white bear who were not too far from him at the water's edge. Continuing to let his eyes roam Orchu caught sight of a mare. The stallion recognized her as Kanti and he whinnied to her; hoping to catch her attention.

--------------------

Demon walked along the edge of the lake, his feet coming dangerously close to the edge of the water as he strolled along without worry. He wasn?t stupid enough to fall in or anything. From the distance he caught sight of two soquili and a third that appeared to be joining them. He snorted and tossed his head a little at the group. 'Not worth my time,' he thought. 'But they might prove to be a good source of entertainment until something better comes along.' He started toward them, purposefully walking with a cool and indifferent attitude just as he heard the new arrival whinny.

--------------------

While the approach of three unfamiliar soquili may have startled Tai a few days ago, the advent of a slightly more mature Tai, and the patient teachings of his mentor, caused him to watch the others with eager interest rather then paralyzing indecision. His companions were not so inclined, and the young woman decided it would be best for her to pay more attention to her sewing while Flame nibbled nonchalantly on the long reeds at the edge.

Until the black and white stallion on the water but a few yards away whinnied a greeting to the mare, and without meaning too, Tai whickered a greeting as well.

Without warning, Celei stood up and tapped the red-gold stallion lightly on the shoulder, gesturing in the direction of the teepee. Understanding her meaning, Flame nudged the bear that dozed next to him and nickered at Tai.

Glancing at the others, then his departing family, Tai pouted and tossed his head. But before he could say anything the golden bird, Marahute, dove at him, snatching on of his mane feathers. "Got one got one!" she crowed, taking to the sky, ignoring the brown-gold stallions cry of protest as he unwittingly charged into the brush to head off the bird.

Watching Tai go, Flame nodded in satisfaction, and with a polite bow of his head to the other soquili who may be looking, he departed with Gully and his human companion.

--------------------

Kanti's ears perked up at the sound of a familiar sound. Orchu! she thought as she trotted closer to him. It was him, and oddly enough perched on his back was a basket. She nickered a greeting back to him. However, she noticed he was not alone. Not far from were she stood she spotted a brown to gold colored stallion who had also greeted her, as well as a fired colored one who seemed uninterested in meeting others. She nickered back to him in a warm greeting but noticed that his human had beckoned him to leave. She had also noticed another stallion, but decided not to nicker to him unless he was willing to greet them.

--------------------

Orchu nodded his head at Kanti as she approached and his steel eyes swept over to the other two soquili whom he had noticed on the lake's edge. The stallion frowned as he watched them depart. Wonder why they are leaving so soon... 'Tis a shame. I hope I am fortunate enough to meet them another time. Orchu's thoughts were broken as he caught sight of a fourth soquili. The stallion was approaching Kanti and himself; yet he had not greeted them with a whinny or anything of that sort. He walked with a composure Orchu wasn't sure he liked; yet he was open to meeting everyone. Orchu's attention turned back to Kanti as he waited for the other soquili to reach them. "Kanti my friend it has been a while! How are you?" He inquired pleasantly.

--------------------

Demon?s eyes trailed the departing soquili, his tail twisting subtly at his emotions. 'Their loss,' he thought. 'I'm sure meeting me would have been the highlight of their day.' His eyes perked as he heard the two remaining soquili greet each other. His eyes narrowed when neither chose to signify his arrival, the dark lines encircling his eyes intensifying his annoyance. He snorted and reassured himself that he would not be ignored for long before he focused his mind or observing the two. Up close, he now saw that the black and white one had a basket balanced carefully on his back, his wings seemingly nestling it safely as he walked. He considered a greeting for moment as he approached the two, finally deciding on a bland nicker out of sheer courtesy.

--------------------

"Yes it has been a while" Kanti said with a small smile. "I am doing well, just a little restless that is all" she said giving a faint nod. She noticed how he had nestled the small basket safely between his two wings.

"I see your a father now" she said with a small smile at the basket. She had no thoughts in her mind of becoming a mother soon, then again she hadn't met many stallions yet.

She noticed the other soquili still. He seemed more over full of himself than as shy as some of the other stallions she met. However, after the last meeting with Ilianna she decided it was best to greet him warmly. She nickered back to him welcoming him over.

--------------------

Orchu frowned. "Restless eh? I pity myself! First the familiars now you, don't I get a break?" He smiled and mockingly made an exasperated expression. Orchu's nudged Kanti's shoulder gently. "Yes a father, and I doubt I'll prove to be a very good one." Orchu's features spread into a neutral frown. He honestly hoped he would make a wonderful father for both Kasumi's and his sake as well as for the sake of his children. Orchu's steel eyes fled back to the stallion as Kanti nickered in response to him. Orchu bowed his head as the stallion reached them. "Hello. My name is Orchu. Pleasure to meet you." Orchu's moth twisted into a grin as he greeted the unfamiliar soquili.

--------------------

A gorgeous winged snow cheetah appears landing by the lake. She shakes her beautiful long but silky mane and tail while folding her wings back in place. She walked to the edge and bent down to get a drink before looking to the sky, admiring the gorgeous day that Mother nature seemed to have given her. "Such a gorgeous day.. I wonder what will fate give me today." She looked around for anyone that might seem to be a good friend. She then began to graze on the grass lazily. Her hair seemed to shine from the sunlight.

--------------------

Demon grinned to himself as he heard Orchu?s greeting. 'Now that's more like it.' "Demon," he said, turning his head as apprise the other. His eyes studied him, and he mentally gave approval over Orchu. Sleek and well kept obviously well-kept coat and at least more cultured than most. "And the same to you."

He turned his head again, but paused as he caught sight of another Soquili over Orchu?s shoulder. 'Wow,' was the first thought can came to mind, as he watched the wind blow the silver mane in various directions in the air. Demon blinked and mentally cursed at himself for thinking something so undignified. She was pretty he?d give her that. 'Not my first choice,' he tried to convince himself, 'but good enough.'

--------------------

Kanti gave a small sweet chuckle. "I can't help it I'm so restless, Alona and Lilly kept me so coped up that I had been dying to get out and annoyed them in doing so. And now that I am out, I need something to do " she said with a mischievous grin.

"I am sure you will be a wonderful father Orchu, congrats" she said with a friendly, reassuring smile.

Kanit's attention turned to the newcomer. He had the look of someone who was a little full of himself, but at least he had confidence, Kanti hated when stallions didn't dare approach a mare, or if they did they were as shy as a bug. Demon...what a name she thought. Sounded as if he was either a trouble maker, or someone who was just flat out mean. Either way didn't bother Kanti. She wasn't the world's most sweetest mare, not to mention she wasn't very tamed.

"It is nice to meet you Demon, I'm Kanti" she said pleasantly with a smile. However she kept her eye on him, something about him was at least interesting.

--------------------

Orchu laughed. "Poor Alona. I can only imagine her trying to put up with your antics." He teased. "Something to do? I'm sorry my conversational skills do not seem to be rather appeasing to you." Orchu smirked; his tone was lavished in sarcasm. "Thank you, Kanti." He smiled once again at the mare. Orchu attention turned to the stallion as he spoke. "Demon." Orchu repeated. "I like that name. Seems classic and simple as if it fits you." He tilted his head as he spoke and examined Demon's markings upon his body. They were unusual; however they intensified the stallion's features superbly. Orchu blinked at the Demon as he stared pointedly over his shoulder. The stallion turned his head and spotted what he believed Demon was staring at. For it was a rather gorgeous mare, grazing upon the river's bank not to far off. Orchu neighed to her; hoping she would come and join Kanti, Demon and himself.

--------------------

Her gray ears flickered when she heard a loud neigh and perks up, looking around. She immediately went on a defense stance, thinking someone was there to hurt her but saw the group. She smiled and neighed loudly in response, her mane was moving like water in the wind. The tree right by her was sending flowers towards her and around her. One seemed to land right on her mane while she began to walk towards the group. "... Wh.. Who are they? I hope that they are friends..." She sees the husky and blushed at how gorgeous he was. She certainly wanted to be friends with him. She tosses her head to make herself look even better. She looks at her wings to make sure they were shining in the sunlight. She looks at the group and says shyly. "...Hello..."

--------------------

Demon tore his eyes away from the silver and black mare to study Kanti for a moment, his eyes trailing the rather wind worn braids that were scattered through her main. He wanted to place her in one of his various mental categories but failed. Her mane was a bit untidy and her coat could use a once over brushing but she was far from being some sniveling ingrate. He grudgingly nodded to her as he spoke. "And hello to you, Kanti." Demon turned his attention back to Orchu and practically preened himself at the Soquili?s comment. 'Oh yes,' he thought to himself. 'Orchu is definitely someone I could grow to like.' Outwardly he responded, his delight evident in his voice, "Why thank you."

He watched as Orchu called the silver mare over and for a moment his mind went blank. He watched as she walked over, her steps slow and uncertain. He hid a smile as she spoke; her voice was soft and sweet and the second of hesitation just added to her innocent persona. He caught her eye and his vision ran a line down to her shimmering wings. This shouldn't be too hard, he though. "Hello, to you as well," he said smoothly, walking a little closer to her. "Might I ask the name of the sweet flower that has graced our presence?" Demon inwardly gagged at the sappiness of his words but laced his voice in what he hoped would be in endearing tone. 'She's pretty,' he thought, 'That's it, nothing more.'

--------------------

Kanti gave another small chuckle. " Alona was driven madly insane" she said with a smile. "But she was good mother, and your conversational style is perfectly fine, I'm just... eh... what to say...a chatty person" Kanti replied giving a small laugh.

Kanti turned to look at were the others two direction was. She spotted another mare, but this one was much more beautiful then want Kanti thought of she was. She reminded her more of Ilianna, especially the odd markings on her coat. She didn't nicker a greeting to her, there wasn't any point, she had seemed to absorbed into the something else.

She followed her gazed and realized it was Demon she had spotted. She rolled her eyes and sighed. Scratch out what she thought of Demon earlier, he wasn't any better than any other stallion, or maybe he was a little lower. She gave a small snort and shook her head in a slight bit of disgust. He was practically drooling over her, not to mention what he was saying to her. At the moment, she was glad she wasn't pretty at all, at least she had a mind somewhere, besides over pretty things. She wanted to gag at the sight of Demon making googly-eyes at the new mare. She snorted again and turned her attention to Orchu.

"I am afraid to say I am going to move on from here" she said looking off into distance, opposite from Demon and the mare. "Lilly was looking to brush me and I'd better get heading toward the herd, I promised Alona I would be there, and I haven't showed up yet" she said looking back at Orchu and giving a small nod. "Anyway I hope to see you around again, good luck Orchu" she said as she headed off.

--------------------

Orchu snickered to himself at Alona as she snorted in disgust at Snowlily and Demon. It was rather amusing and Orchu had to admit he felt the same way. The gray mare and Demon seemed rather caught up in each other at the moment and Orchu would like to do nothing more them to smack them right at the moment. It was so ironic hearing the stallion talking to the mare in such a tone; Orchu didn't think the stallion even capable. Orchu looked back at Kanti and frowned. "What a shame. I wish we could have talked for longer my dear friend. Do send Alona my regards. I hope we see each other again soon Kanti." He bowed his head to her as she walked off. Turning back to the other two soquili Orchu bowed to the mare. "Hello miss. My name is Orchu." He smiled pleasantly at the mare; hoping she wasn't too caught up in Demon to be aware of his prescience.

Orchu stood on a rocky cliff upon the mountain's jagged slope. The full moon shone bright as it cascaded an ominous glow over the silent land. It was a gorgeous night and the temperature was perfect. Only the peak of the mountain remained covered with ice and the winter months had since pasted. Orchu sighed contentedly; he loved the mountainous terrain and was thankful his teepee was located in that vicinity. It was also so peaceful and generally quiet. Orchu suddenly felt like laying down and the rocky ground certainly didn't provide an adequate place for such actions. Orchu spread out his massive wings and with a fleeting swoop of his feathers his was lifted off the ground. He flapped his massive wings a few times to propel himself up to a satisfying height. His wings remained outstretched as he soared over the forest. Orchu's steel eyes spotted the clearing; marked subsequently by his favorite place. An enormous willow tree just outside of the forest and on the edge of the clearing. The stallion glided down towards the meadow illuminated by the shining moon. The breeze was perfect and carried him gently down. He broke out into graceful canter as he touched down and folded his wings delicately to his sides. Orchu slowed to a trot, then finally a walk as he drew towards the tree. The wind tossed his mane as well as rustled his wings. He looked up the swishing strands of the willow's branches. Orchu meandered his way over to the trunk before he laid down. He sighed once more and held his head high as he let he thoughts drift.

--------------------

Anubis, wandering around the willow tree sighed. The land was so beautiful in the moon's light, and he knew that he was lucky to see this. Staring intently at the sky, he squinted seeing a black figure flying the sky heading from the mountains. "One of the winged ones, I see." He said with a nod watching intently as it landed. he stared longingly at the sky feeling as he had been there before He walked over to the tree shakily. "Are you the one who just flew now?" he nodded towards the sky. He took a look at the Soquili's shimmering wings in his eyes. "My name.. is Anubis. Yours would be...?" He bowed to the winged soquili as the breeze blew, ruffling their manes and fur. Anubis stood out in the dark of night being the lightblue that he was.

--------------------

Demon wandered idly around the edge of the clearing, the moon far to bright that night for him to sleep. He paused as he turned his head upward, letting the moon?s surreal glow rest on him. His eyes traced around the sparkling speckles in the cloudless night sky. He started for a moment as a large shadow sailed across his vision. He blinked from bewilderment before he recognized the flying figure. His eyes rested on the landing Soquili just in time to see him gracefully fold his wings back. Demon smiled, Orchu was always someone who was worthy of his company. A greeting almost left his mouth before he caught eye of another Soquili walking toward. A spark of jealousy flared for a moment as he saw Orchu?s attention focused on the stranger before Demon beat it down with an inward sneer. 'There was no reason to be jealous,' he told himself. 'Besides, it?s probably just another low-life who can revel at me.' He raised his head to the wind, releasing a low whinny to capture Orchu?s attention.

--------------------

Orchu ears flickered up and his gaze fled to the stallion standing before him. The moonlight bathed the stallion's light blue coat magnificently accenting it with a faint glow. Orchu stood once more and listened intently to the soquili. "Yes I just landed in the clearing a few moments ago. I had been on the mountain which would have been a most uncomfortable place to lie down so I flew to this willow. It is my favorite dwelling to ponder my thoughts." Orchu bowed his head in response to the soquili as he elaborated and attempted to provide pleasant conversation. "Hello Anubis. My name is Orchu. It is a pleasure to meet you." The stallion nodded his head before his attention was diverted by a second soquili who had just whinnied. Peering through the willow's drooping branches Orchu recognized Demon approaching himself and Anubis. Orchu neighed in response and nodded his head at Demon. "Hello Demon. This is a pleasant surprise to meet you once again especially in such a short time. This stallion is Anubis." He gestured to Anubis as he introduced the stallion.

--------------------

Anubis smiled at Orchu. He was one of the nicer Soquili, he guessed. "I can guess the mountains are hard. I prefer, somewhere close to trees and river." he said with a fond smile staring at his surroundings. Looking back on the soquili who whinnied. he bowed yet again to him. "Demon was it? I can see Orchu has already introduced me so you know my name." He gave a little smile with a twist. He sensed.. that this soquili wasn?t as nice. His instincts told him so and Anubis felt a cold shudder. "The wind." He said distractedly. The wind was strong tonight. yes. "I assume, both of you are well acquaintances?" He said his eyebrow raising.

--------------------

Demon stared at him, observing Anubis as though he was a piece of merchandise. He snorted when he finished his appraisal of the Soquili. "It's a pleasure, I'm sure," he drawled, his eyes flatly looking down upon Anubis. "And we know each other well enough," he added after a pause, flicking his tail in annoyance. He turned to face Orchu better, offering up a self-assured smirk as he pointedly ignored Anubis. "I guess it?s nice to see you again, as well, especially so soon. It must just be that hard to stay away from me," he said haughtily.

--------------------

Orchu nodded at Anubis. "Yes the forest and the river certainly are enjoyable places to be. A unicorn named Glamrock I met knows of this exquisite grove of fruit in the forest; the humans apparent tend it according to her. And Yei Umeko and I were going to venture to the river the other day but unfortunately out meeting was cut short... I have not been to the river since I was merely a colt. Shame I don't go there often. It is not necessary most of the time considering my teepee is in the mountains and the closest water source are a few tributaries flowing down the slope." Orchu's wings rustled and he frowned slightly as Anubis shivered when a gust of winds swept through the willow's branches. "Demon and I met earlier this afternoon and my human shares responsibility over Demon with a close friend of hers." Orchu's steel eyes gazed upon Demon. "Me stay away from you? My friend you surely are mistaken. For you are the one who has ventured over to my both times we have met have you not?" Orchu stated this pointedly and swished his tail.

--------------------

"Go visit the river something again yes?" Anubis suggested noticing Demons pointed ignorance. Shrugging it off, he noticed Orchu's frown and explained "I'm not used to the cold.. where I live." He said softly. "If twice you met in a short while, dont you think there'll be more times? Including the fact that your human shares Demon also. There'll be more than just twice." Anubis pointed out to both Soquili. "I dont think it matters who met who." he said simply enjoying the breeze now. It was nice if you got used to it. He looked at all the stallions, noticing the moon give the illumination of a glow to all of them. They may well have been mistaken by ghosts. He gave a amused half smile at the thought before turning back to the conversation between Orchu and Demon.

--------------------

Demon bristled at Orchu's comment, his mind struggling for some type of comeback that would cover up both his embarrassment and hurt. 'Whatever,' he thought defensively. 'Not like it matters.' "I simply came over because I thought you would have taken it in offense if I did not. However, if you do not enjoy my company, I can simply leave," he said, still recovering from his slip. He turned around swiftly, his tail flying to the side at the sharp movement, before swaying light back and forth in recoil as he walked away. He snorted as he left the two behind, not sparing a farewell to either in his own silent and useless rebellion.

--------------------

Orchu frowned as Demon departed; but uttered no farewell as Demon had merely left the two stallions out of spite at Orchu's words. Shrugging Orchu turned back to Anubis. "Would you like to go to the river now? I'm feeling thirsty suddenly and I'm sure the moon makes the river sparkle at night beautifully. It would be a wondrous sight to behold." Orchu decided not to reply to Anubis' words of his and Demon acquaintance and hoped he did not come off as rude to the stallion. "You are not used to the cold? Pray tell where did you go during the winter months? For the only thing I pointedly recollect from them is the cold and snow. I in fact was isolated in my teepee in the mountains for around a month in the winter due to the numerous blizzards that occurred. It was somewhat depressing; although the current weather certainly has my spirits up." Orchu nodded to himself as he reminisced the month he had spent trapped in a buckskin teepee.

--------------------

Anubis thought. "The river sounds fine. I'll be thirsty myself." he agreed. "The river may look beautiful, your right." He tried to envision it but shook his head. Better to see it for himself. In lue of Orchu's question he replied.. " I was not yet .. old enough to fell the cold." he said thoughtfully. "Isolated?" Anubis said, a bit shocked. "That must have been.. not too comforting." he said slowly unable to find the right word.

Addie moved through the forest. She had been traveling for so long, and all that time something had been pulling her in this direction. It had been a while since she had come in contact with other people of any sort. The sun was high in the sky but there was a cool breeze. Addie talks to herself saying, "What am I doing all the way out here anyway."

--------------------

Orchu was at the stream running placidly through the middle of the forest; he had ventured down from his teepee in the mountains for a morning drink. He lowered his head and sipped the cool liquid before scanning the forest around him; hoping to a see a familiar Soquili. Orchu's steel eyes froze upon a human walking through the trees nearby him; she was clad in a blue cloth and had flowing brown hair. This human was unfamiliar to Orchu; although he had not encountered many humans before. It seemed apparent that this lady had not noticed Orchu and she was mumbling to herself. The stallion silently made his way over to her; following her with a certain curiousity. He took caution of the prominent bow slung over her shoulder although this lady didn't seem to be a threat. Picking up his pace, Orchu caught up to her and nudged her gently in the back and neighed lightly.

--------------------

Addie does not notice the Soquili as she walks through the trees. Suddenly she feels a nudge and exclaims, "Eep!" Addie jumps turning around to stand face to face with the handsome Soquili. "Whaa.." Addie cocks her head to one side looking at the Soquili with interest but is on guard. If the creature had meant her harm he would have done so by now.

--------------------

Orchu stared apprehensively at the human; her footing seemed to fall into a determined stance as she turned around and faced he. The stallion backed up a few paces just incase the lady became hostile. Orchu had not met enough humans to comprehend how the entire race acted. His human Polar treated him like a god. He also remembered when Hania's human had finally found him after they had been separated; specifically the expression of pure ecstasy upon her features. Orchu let out a faint snort and flipped his white mane; still watching her cautiously. Moments passed by in silence and Orchu shifted uncomfortably; rustling his wings and swishing his plaited tail.

--------------------

Addie stared in awe. She had never seen such a creature. She relaxed a little when she saw that her stance was making the gentle one uneasy. Addie softly clicked her tongue and held out a hand keeping her fingers together and straight. She softly says, "Oi, I dont want to hurt ya." Addie watches every movement carefully.

--------------------

Orchu tilted his head at the curiously clicking noise the human was making and he neighed softly in response. Steel blue eyes gazed at the lady's outstretched hand; he was disappointed to see there was no food resting open the fleshy palm of the human. Generally when a human held their hand out to Orchu they were rewarding him with some sort of delicious treat. The stallion frowned slightly but touched his muzzle to the lady's palm and licked her hand once. The person seemed friendly; although Orchu wasn't prepared to let his guard down just quite yet. He stomped his front right hoof against the solid ground creating a dully thumping sound.

--------------------

Addie smiled happily, "Your a very handsome creature." Addie pulled back her hand and reached into a pouch at her side and pulled out a berry, before offering it to the creature. As she offers him the berry her other hand comes up to pet his nose if he will let her touch him. Addie watches the horse with wings thinking, 'I have never seen a horse with wings, what are you?'

--------------------

Orchu watched her head curiously as it reached into a small satchel attached to her side. She removed a juicy looking berry and Orchu's mouth began to water slightly; he loved berries and wondered if this berry inparticular was from the grove of fruit he had had the opportunity to visit with the unicorn Glamrock. The stallion scrutinized the fruit before daintily proceeding to accept it from the human. He noticed her examining his wings inquisitively and Orchu gracefully extended them to their full length; silver tips glistening, before refolding them gently to his sides.

--------------------

Teyla stands next to Jinx and watches the other Soquili.

--------------------

Addie?s eyes widen a little as the creature extends his wings. Suddenly it hits her, 'This must be a Soquili! I have heard tales of these creatures.' Softly she asks, even though she knows he can not answer, "You must be a Soquili?"

--------------------

Tetyawna enjoyed her little walk. That was until she saw another Soquili and a human near it. She quickly hid behind a tree and watched. Her heart was thumping and getting excited, of course. Her tail wagged like a dog's but it wasn't lifted up.

--------------------

A soft squeal could be heard through the trees, a small buckskin colt darting here and there and jumping the fallen branches from the previous storm. Occasionally, above him, a flash of white could be seen moving here and there... Suni, the hawk, landed amidst the branches of a tree near the others and let out a soft call.

At that call, Ballestra lifted his head, ears pricked up in curiosity. What had the bird found?

--------------------

Addie hears sounds around her, the screech of a bird and the sound of hair moving in the wind with a soft swishing sound.

--------------------

Orchu blinked attempting to comprehend what the human had asked; he responded by nodding his head. The stallion's head turned as a squealing sound echoed near by through some trees. He spotted a rambunctious colt darting through the trees; practicing his jumping skills over fallen logs and tree branches. Upon the colt's forehead was a prominent horn; it had a magnificent golden tint that captivated Orchu's eyes. Another sound started Orchu and his steel eyes fled up into low lying tree branches till he spotted a radiant white hawk perched on a sturdy branch. Orchu tilted his head and flipping his mane he neighed loudly to the colt. For the stallion was unaware at the moment a lurking red and black Soquili's eyes were watching his and the other's actions from behind a large pine tree.

--------------------

Teyla continued to observe the other Soquili, just observe nothing more. She looks as if she has a bunch of energy just wanting to release it, but she doesn?t. She stands still and watches.

--------------------

She took another peek at the Soquili and the human but her attention was caught by a foal. Her eyes looked straight at the Soquili jumping. Tetyawna slowly walked to the left of the pine tree to reveal herself. She just stood and watched all the 3 currently in front of her eyes.

--------------------

Addie turns around and sees the white hawk and the colt and is in shock, there are Soquili all around her. Addie gets a little nervous, the last time she was surrounded by anything bad things had happened. Slowly Addie moves away from the large black Soquili in front of her and away from the other creatures she can see.

--------------------

What was that? A call? A neigh? ANOTHER! Ballestra let out an answering whinny of his own, kicking up his heels in reaction for a moment before darting towards the other Soquili. This was great! Up until now, he'd only seen Wyvern, oh joy, and that other Kalona, the mare. The two of THEM were no fun to be around... but maybe this other would be. "HI!" he called out, leaping over a fallen log, only to realize a moment too late that he couldn't QUITE manage that yet. The colt went end over tail then, landing in a heap of legs and looking up through his leaf-riddled mane sheepishly. "Ummm... oops?"

--------------------

Addie sees the colt running toward her and the other Soquili. She panics, turning and running away.

--------------------

Orchu noticed the human retreating from him as the colt began approaching him and merely shrugged his shoulders. Perhaps she would choose to rejoin them once things settled down a bit. Steel eyes gazed back upon the colt that was traveling towards him. Orchu watched the colt jump over a decaying log; yet the unicorn colt caught his back hoof on the log. Orchu rushed towards him; hoping the foal was unharmed. "Are you alright? That was some fall!" Orchu arched his neck down to examine the foal and nuzzled him gently. The stallion's ears perked up as he heard a few leaves rustling upon the ground. His attention was caught when he looked up by a red and black mare; she had exquisite markings decorating her body. Orchu neighed lightly to her and scanned the rest of the forest area to see if any other Soquili were present. His steel eyes fell upon a mare with a mixture of blue swirls upon her coat. The stallion stared at her for a moment before whinnying to her as well; hoping the two mares would come over to greet him and the colt at his feet.

--------------------

Teyla noticed the black stallion address her and after pausing a second, walked towards him. When reaching him she glances at the stallion then looks to the colt. "You okay there little one?"

--------------------

She replied back with a little thump from her foot on the ground. Then looked at the fallen foal and did a little jog over. Her eyes realized another female Soquili not too far away. "Hmmm....you seem like you got a little party going on here." Never in her life have she seen so many Soquili at one time. Her tail shifted back and forth. Omg! So many..... I can't wait to meet them all.... wait... no... eeeee... Of course Tetyawna was extremely happy to see them all and wanted to make friends with them.

--------------------

Ballestra sat there for a moment, letting out a soft whicker at the nuzzling and returning the gesture towards the large stallion that seemed to be so worried about him. "I'm okay," he said, picking himself up gingerly and testing out all four legs. "Suni says I'm going to come home looking like mud from all the times I fall." Grinning, the colt looked up towards the hawk in the tree and motioned to him with his head, as if pointing out the bird to the stallion. "That's Suni. And I'm Ballestra."

Four legs, four hooves, tail, head... yep, everything was here. Shaking himself off, the colt made a small shower of dirt and leaves scatter before he looked reasonably presentable again and looked up at Orchu, his tail flicking from side to side in excitement. "Oh wow, you've got WINGS...." Ballestra's eyes went wide then, and he stared unabashedly at the feathered limbs. He envied Suni's ability to fly... and would give up his own horn for wings. He hadn't noticed the two mares nearby just yet... but that wouldn't last.

--------------------

Orchu stared inquisitively at the red and black mare. "I'd hardly call it a party but you are certainly invited." The stallion bowed his head to the mare before continuing. "My name is Orchu. Pleasure to meet you. May I have the courtesy of being informed your name?" He inquired politely. Orchu's eyes flickered back to the swirled black and blue mare and frowned. To his disappointment she was leaving. Oh well, Orchu thought to himself. Perhaps I will have the pleasure of meeting her acquaintance another time. The stallion flipped his white mane and his attention feel upon the colt who was subsequently proceeding to standing up. "I am glad you are alright young one. Enchanting to meet you, Ballestra. You are the third unicorn I have had the opportunity of meeting." Orchu's steel gaze fled back upon the white hawk perched above. "Suni." He stated nodding his head to the magnificent creature. "Hm? Oh yes wings." His attention was captured once more by Ballestra. Orchu casually extended his wings out once more. The silver tips touched the ground as his feathery wings dipped some as he left them extended gracefully.

--------------------

She looked down at the foal who was now standing back up again. "My name is Tetyawna." She said her name nice and slowly so that they won't pronounce the name wrong. Her knees bent a bit and she kind of dipped her head low like a curtsy. "So glad to be here at the party." One of her eyes winked.

--------------------

Ballestra stared in awe at the wings, walking beneath one and letting the feathers trail over his back. So THAT'S what it would feel like to have wings there. It wasn't until he'd turned around and walked back towards Orchu's head that he saw the mare standing there, and stopped dead. "Hi there!" he said, smiling a bit from beneath the wing, his feet drumming against the ground in glee. More Soquili! And NONE of them were like Wyvern, thank the gods.

--------------------

Orchu's eyes flickered between the two Soquili he had just encountered. "Hello Tetyawna. Your marking are simply exquisite. How are you?" The stallion attempted to keep a polite composure whilst in the company of Ballestra and Tetyawna, as well as Suni. Orchu blinked at the colt as he ducked underneath Orchu's wings then circled back around and came to stand beneath one of the outstretched wings as he greeted the mare. The stallion was already growing fond of Ballestra's personality despite the fact they had just met. Perhaps he would come to think of the colt as a younger brother. When Orchu had first met Hania the two had bonded quickly and the golden stallion viewed Orchu as his younger brother. Orchu has since grown into adult and seen Hania merely a few times; which disappointed Orchu. He also enjoyed running into older friends as well as meeting new ones.

--------------------

Tetyawna watched the foal and she smiled delightfully. "Why hello there." Her head looked up at Orchu. She hoped that the wind Soquili was talking to her. "Thank you. I simply love it. I'm fine, how are you?" Tetyawna had just remembered that she can climb trees she quickly did so. She found a tree the perfect size which was not too big and not too small.

She lifted one of her hoofs on the branch that was lowest and slowly lifted her whole body on it. Surprisingly, the branch did not break. Tetyawna climbed the tree like if she weighed nothing or like a feather. It was like magic.

--------------------

She climbed TREES? Ballestra was now convinced that being small stunk and that cool things only happened when you grew up. HE didn't have wings... HE couldn't climb trees. There had to be something to being an adult. "That's amazing," he whispered, stepping out from Orchu's wing and looking up at the dark-coated Soquili. "Can you do that too?"

As far as he was concerned, the adults were now GODS in his eyes.

--------------------

The stallion raised an eyebrow at the mare who walked away from him to a near by tree as he replied to her inquiry. "I am doing fine a the moment, thank you." Orchu stared at Tetyawna in sheer amazement as she heaved herself onto a low lying branch in the tree she had ventured over to. "Wow." He stated faintly. The stallion had no idea any Soquili was capable of doing such an action as climbing a tree. Orchu assumed the colt was questioning him after watching the mare. "I do not find myself capable of climbing trees no. Although I don't exactly need to climb trees or anything to escape predators; I can see how it would prove a useful tactic in Tetyawna's case." Orchu flapped his wings and propelled himself a few feet off the ground and hovering mid-air as his wings continued moving up and down; encasing his body in a white grace.

--------------------

She giggled as both males stared at her in amazement. "Oh it is just a talent." She slowly climbed down the way she got up. Judging by how Ballestra looked at her, she knew he was hoping he could do that if he was older. "You'll have a talent like flying or climbing trees someday....or maybe even something different."

Her head turned to Orchu as he lifted himself off the ground with his beautiful wings. Maybe he can't climb trees, but he can land on them while flying up to a tree. That must be so much fun! Another giggle came from the mare.

--------------------

"I can't do anything but jump," Ballestra snorted, one hoof pawing against the dead leaf cover that canvassed the forest floor. It was one of the last vestiges of winter, and it released a damp, musty smell that tickled his nose. And Wyvern says that humans will take my horn because it can do stuff... but all I've seen it do is get caught in branches." He smiled a bit awkwardly then, tilting his head a bit to the side. "Then Suni laughs at me."

--------------------

Orchu touched back effortlessly to the ground and ruffled his feathery wings a tad before refolding them perfectly to his side. The coloring of his fur contrasted that of his wings; they glowed with a faint radiance Orchu himself had to admit he secretly admired. Orchu frowned at Tetyawna as she spoke. That certainly is one miraculous talent; I wonder if any of the humans have seen a Soquili climb a tree before. I have never heard Polar mentioned... I would feel most honored if I knew that Ballestra, Suni and I had been the first to see a Soquili climb a tree. The stallion pondered his thoughts before he shook his head quickly to awaken per say from his reverie. Orchu nudged Ballestra gently in a fatherly manor. "Unicorn horns are very useful and they serve as a very effective protection; doubt any one wishes to get pierced by a unicorn's horn." His thoughts fell upon the unicorn mare Glamrock and the unknown unicorn stallion; Orchu mentally noted never to get on Chaos' bad side. He had been forewarned by Glamrock; the mare and Orchu got along rather well. "Who is Wyvern?" Orchu responded curiously. "Don't worry young one. I assure you when you are older you will be capable of doing many wondrous things. Why when I was a colt I fell once while flying. Most unpleasant." Orchu resisted the urge to shudder upon remembering the incident.

--------------------

Tetyawna smiled as Orchu gave reasons to Ballestra. She, herself, could not ever comfort someone when they need it. Her emotion is either happy or excited and never really down. "Oh yes, I remember once when I fell off a tree." Luckily she healed quick enough so that today she can climb another tree.

When Orchu spoke about the unicorn horn, Tetyawna's eyes went straight to the shiny pointy horn. "That is one special item or horn you got there." Once again, she winked while smiling. Her eyes were now glistening in the sun. She was happy that she made some friends and hope that Ballestra cheers up.

--------------------

The colt still wasn't sure if he should believe them or not, and his eyes crossed upward as he tried to look at his own horn. "Oh, Wyvern is another that my human watches over. Not that he deserves it or anything. He's a Kalona, and he's always mean to the human." The matter-of-fact way he spoke was enough to make one believe that this was perfectly normal for 'life at the teepee', and Ballestra really didn't seem to mind TOO much. Well, other than the fact that Wyvern was constantly trying to annoy him.

He looked back to Tetyawna and Orchu then, his tail waving wildly. "But I can jump better than he can, and HE can't fly yet."

--------------------

Orchu blinked. "You fell from a tree Tetyawna? What a terrible experience. I'm glad you seem alright now." Orchu's tone was laced with honest concern. Wow I'm glad she is alright. I myself was very fortunate in my youth to not have in injured; the younger we are the more resilient it seems too. I remember how Palla was attacked by a group of wolves; his scars certainly healed but he will always bare then upon his face... Orchu sighed and his attention returned to Ballestra. "A Kalona you say? I have only encountered one of that race. A filly named Isuza. Well, she was a filly when we met although we were both foals. I imagine she has matured into a mare since then. Most human seem to have a compassionate nature towards all Soquili." Orchu voice trailed off. Could this Wyvern surely be as horrible as Ballestra made him out to be? Orchu thought it not possible for a Soquili to be terrible to it's human; most of the Soquili he knew had strong bonds with their humans.

Eloran strolled towards the river that arced around soquili meadow. He had just finished a riding lesson for one of the young tribe members. The boy showed promise, but had a long way to go yet. For now, he enjoyed the swishing of the new grass against his hooves as he made his way lazily towards the rushing water.

Once there, he waded out into the edges of the current. It was running ice cold due to the winter snows melting. Spring was such a time of change. He raised his head from drinking and looked back over his shoulder at the village. His mother had told him to be patient, that he would find a human that touched his soul one day. Perhaps this spring, during this time of change, it might happen.

Until then, he was content to help out at the village as he could. Later he would go meet a woman and follow her to another part of the river, where she would load wet clay into pots. It was a very heavy load, and the woman was old. Thus he was more than pleased to help by offering his strong back to help carry the clay back to the village.

The spring wind ruffled his neat mane and tail, and he closed his eyes to better enjoy it's caress. Yes, perhaps this year would be different.

--------------------

Kanti took a stroll out of the village. Lilly had just finish taking her time brushing her down. She hated being brushed, to her it was a waste of time especially since she always looked a little messy. She shook her head the beads clashed together creating a beautiful little ring as she headed toward the small river.

The river was cool and sweet, and Kanti loved it. She loved to wade into the deeper parts of the river and let the cold refreshing water wash all over her. She couldn't help but play around a little in the water letting little splashes go everywhere. She was so busy amusing herself she didn't even noticed the stallion that was just a little ways down the river.

--------------------

The bright red bay stallion turned, the chill water just over his fetlocks, to see a mare playing in the water upstream. He watched, amused, as she kicked around like a filly. The tall soquili then waded upstream and when he got close enough, lowered his muzzle into the water and tossed his head, sending a splash into the further splashes she was creating.

"Hello there, miss seahorse," he then whickered low, laughter dancing in his eyes. "You are a bit far upstream from your watery home. What brings you to this bit of water?" He smiled gently, to show his good humor.

--------------------

Orchu had been laying underneath the enormous willow tree on the edge of the clearing with his daughter's basket nearby. The stallion had taken to bringing the white, black and lilac woven structure everywhere he went. It was his pride and joy; knowing that inside was his daughter waiting to emerge and they would see each other for the first time. Orchu snorted lightly and nudged the basket; in response came a high pitched whinny. The stallion chuckled lightly to himself and flipped his mane. The sun bore down upon the earth; the temperature throughout the day had been continuously rising and Orchu believed this day was definitely the hottest any day had been since he had emerged from his basket. He pondered what he and the basket should do and decided perhaps a refreshing dip in the river nearby would be pleasant. The stallion hadn't been to the river in ages; he was going to go with the mare Yei Umeko to take a bath in the river but their meeting was cut short. And just a few nights ago he was going to head to the river with the stallion Anubis although for some reason they hadn't... Orchu extended one of his wings towards the basket and nudged it up his wing upon his basket. He refolded his wing gently to his side and the basket remained securely between his two feathery limbs. He stood up slowly before taking off at a fast walk towards the river. A cool breeze swept over the land and felt incredible in the vast heat. The stallion's steel blue eyes scanned the river's bank as he approached and he caught sight of two soquili; one was unfamiliar but Orchu noticed the mare Kanti. Orchu grinned broadly and whinnied loudly so both soquili would know of his presence.

--------------------

Dyami had been drinking at the river not too far from where three other soqili where. Hearing a whinny from down the river not too far. hHe wondered who was around and so he made his way towards where he heard the whinny and saw Orchu all grown, Kanti and a unfamiliar soquili. He gave a whinny to show he was there and came over to them.

--------------------

Eloran shook the last drops off his chin and turned to whinny back to the newcomers. Two very different looking stallions approached, and he tipped his ears forward in a friendly fashion. "Greetings, brothers." He lifted his large hooves and heaved himself back up onto the grassy bank. He shuddered his hide once, although his body hadn't really gotten wet.

"I am Eloran, a soquili of the village. Who might all of you be?" he inquired politely, swiveling his ears and looking from one to another. He swished his tail at a fly on his haunch, but ended up slapping his barrel with the wet tip of his tail. Amused, he snorted faintly and shook his head, his mane falling this way and that haphazardly. He turned his attention again to the other three soquili, breathing in their scents.

--------------------

Kanti didn't noticed the red bay stallion until he splashed her. She stopped and looked at him. She didn't realized that she was being watched and blushed immediately at realization that he had seen her acting like a little filly.

When he spoke her she laughed. "I love playing in the water, and it was warm today, and the river looked so lonely, that it begged me to play in it." She said cheerfully playing along with his good humor.

Then she heard another whinny and spotted Orchu as well as Dyami. She gave a whinny to greet both of them happily. She pranced out of the water following behind Eloran.

"It is nice to meet you Eloran, I'm Kanti." She said shaking her head letting the beads ring again.

--------------------

Orchu watched the bay stallion wade out of the river followed by Kanti. Orchu bowed his head to the two soquili. "Hello Eloran. It is nice to meet you, my name is Orchu." He grinned warmly before turning his gaze upon Kanti and nodding his head. "Kanti; always a pleasure." Orchu attention was diverted to a third soquili as he whinnied to them. The stallion neighed a light greeting. "Hello there Dyami! Why it has been ages." He stated with a vibe of excitement. Orchu always enjoyed talking to his old friends as well as meeting new companions. The basket whinnied shrilly to remind Orchu that it was there. The stallion blinked before turning his head to peer at the basket. "Oh you silly darling." Orchu nudged the basket gently before turning back to the other soquili and rustling his wings.

--------------------

Dyami grinned. "Yes it has been a long time Orchu." He noticed the basket Orchu had and chuckled. "It seems it's been way long since I last saw you cause it seems your a father now." He turned to Kanti and smiled. "And Kanti its been a long while since I've seen you as well." Noticing the other stallion he nodded to him. "And who might you be?"

--------------------

The tall stallion seemed to be the odd man out, since all the others knew each other. However, while this might make some other soquili uncomfortable, it didn't bother him one bit. Very easy-going, he whuffled quietly in response to greetings and introductions.

Although the little whinny interested him greatly, he turned his attention to the white stallion with red and green markings. "I am Eloran, an honor to meet you! It's a wonder I don't meet more of our kind, since I work in the village. But I do try to keep busy, so I don't often come out to visit and get to know others. I think it's time I changed that." His heart did twinge a bit. The reason he'd been hanging around the village so very much was in hopes of running across the human that was meant to be his. If he chose to spend more time away from the village, finding that one human could be that much harder. Still, his mother often reminded him that he needed friends of his own kind even more than he needed a human.

Introductions done, he stretched his neck to sniff at Orchu's basket. "Hello in there, little one," he nickered, huffing faintly so that his scent would reach the foal within. He then pulled back and smiled warmly at Orchu. "You must be very proud."

--------------------

Kanti was happy to see everyone that she knew there. Dyami as well as Orchu. "It is great to see you again Orchu, as well as you Dyami." She said with a smile. Her attention turned to the little basket. She peered at it closer and nickered to it.
