Do you people recognize this difference because it makes you feel better about calling yourselves such? Or do you make s**t up to justify the trend that it is, in some way, now "cool" to identify with being a "nerd" or "geek"? You hardly ever see someone call themselves a nerd or a geek (the latter seemingly being contested as being better than the former in this case) without first qualifying those terms with something else (usually something that, in some way, defines them as being part of some sub-culture and therefore includes them in some kind of group, therefore solidifying the notion that they are not alone thus no longer ostracized for having been a nerd or geek or some derivative thereof).

Besides, I am certainly a geek. I play video games, I read comic books (Green Lantern and Powergirl preferably), I have laptops for online gaming (like Diablo 3), I love Star Wars, I watch the X-files, I even watch a bit of Star Trek Next Generation, and I am a Who-vian (Doctor Who Fan) even though I started with the Tenth doctor, and I do have a replica of the Eleventh Doctor's sonic screwdriver.

I dress in awesome t-shirts, jeans, and sneakers. No taped up glasses, no dorky pants, no pocket protectors, and certainly no wrist-watch calculator, and I don't spew boring facts about math or science. XP

The fact of the matter is, you don't agree or like my own terms and feel the need to up one me, even though you're completely wrong or asinine about it.
