"Good idea." Mala muttured softly, walking alongside him as they headed towards the inn.

"I promise I'm not leaving you alone again. Especially with nowhere else to haunt now. Ghost or not, you're coming home with me." Van said sitting on one of the two beds in his and Mala's room as he hugged her, with Guile in his own room next door. "Don't worry about the house; it can always be rebuilt if we want to go back. I'll be sure to get the deed to the land before we go, so it'll always be here waiting for us."

"C-Can I sl-sleep with y-you tonight Van?" Vivi sniffled, now mostly over her crying as she remained buried in his chest.

"Of course you can." Van said gently rubbing her back in comfort before looking up at Mala. "You don't mind, do you?"

"I don't mind at all. Today's events have certainly been...traumatizing." Mala replied, feeling extremely guilty with herself just by watching that adorable little ghost girl cry. She just didn't know how to handle it. She knew it wasn't her fault, that she wasn't to blame, but it still felt terrible.

"You crawl into bed, I'll be right behind you." Van told her as he got up to get ready for bed while Vivi crawled under the blankets. Stepping into the bathroom, he finally took the time to heal his burns and what not, using his own magic instead of relying on Mala for a change. Coming back out in a baggy pair of shorts and t-shirt, he gave his wife a kiss good night. "I'll be sure we get some pick-me-up snuggle time later." he said softly before slipping into bed with his sister.

"Alright. If either of you need me, please let me know." Mala muttured softly before quietly leaving the room, gently shutting the door behind her as she went down stairs to relax on her own and pass the time. Maybe she'd find someone who'd be willing to play cards with her today?

Some time later, Van came downstairs, plopped down in a chair next to Mala, and promptly glomped onto her in need of hugs.

Mala wrapped her slender arms around him, quite happy to hold him in a gentle and loving embrace. Hopefully, she would be able to do enough to comfort him in such a time. She spoke not a word, for not a word was needed.

"Now I feel bad teasing you about being so overprotective of Riley for so long." Van said with a small, tired smile.

Mala offered a soft chuckle, holding Van a little closer. "We all have that someone we just want to spoil and protect, don't we?"

"I just figured that you would be the only one to fill that category." Van said resting his head on her should. "Along with our kids during that time when they still need us."

"Maybe. We, of all people, should know that things aren't always going to be what we figure them to be, though." Mala pointed out, wrapping her free arm around him in a loose embrace.
