Name: S’une Age: 72 Nameday: 3504.07.22 Sex: Male Sexual Orientation: Have you seen his beautiful weyrmate? Weyr: Western Weyr Rider Rank: Wingrider Previous Rank/Craft: Mercenary Physical Description: S’une is a fairly tall man, standing roughly 6’5” with strong shoulders. He has dark hair - though it is starting to streak silver, olive skin, and strikingly pale green eyes. Personality: S’une is a particular sort of man who likes order but thrives in a certain amount of chaos. Which is to say, he likes knowing where things are, but likes when there is a lot to do all at once. Where some could and would get overwhelmed, the idea of putting everything into a nice list and making a Whole Lot ™ into a Whole Lot Done ™ is very appealing - so you’ll never find him idling. While a good work ethic is all and good, however, this leaves him often fairly restless, circling the same tasks over and over again, trying to find more left in them to do. S’une can quickly turn into someone that you don’t want touching a task - prone to fussing things into ruin or overworking things.
He has no problem being certain and direct with what he’d like to see done or get done. S’une gets particular images in mind and is very good at bringing them to fruition, making plans and following through with them. He’s also very good at teaching others and being reasonable in his expectation, often given in bite sized pieces in steps, to bring others to his hoped for end as well.
If he thinks the subject of his lessons, or really anybody else set to the work he’s capable of doing, is struggling S’une has a tendency to sweep their proverbial feet out from underneath them. While not done maliciously, he’s rather uninclined to let others fail and learn for themselves and will be eager to sweep in and fix things before it can go wrong. If told specifically to not touch a task and not set to work of his own, S’une will have a proclivity to hover, frustrating both himself and the subject being hovered over.
Positive Trait List Hardworking, Direct, Good-Teacher Negative Trait List Restless, Fussy, Coddling History: Saramune’s father raised him alone - his wife died in childbirth with their second child, and what would have been Saramune’s younger brother didn’t live much longer than 3 months. Elemune, traveling as a mercenary with his son, speculated that both would have had survived if they’d not been on the road at the time. Settled at a hold, perhaps, like they’d been when Saramune was born. While too young to understand the circumstances entirely, the idea stuck with the boy in a way he’d only later understand.
It was not enough to keep him from following in his father’s footsteps, growing into a capable young man, though he did hold some reservations about getting too close with his fellows - an unknown hangup from the loss of mother and brother. Still, he worked hard and had a good working relationship with those his own age. It was in his early twenties while recovering from a job with a handful of these young man (and women) near Ista that through some twist of fate, the group was allowed to watch a hatching clutch from a travelling gold. They were the closest to dragons that any of them had ever been. Sure, they all knew the stories, but it was more magical in person. They all knew what an honor they’d been given.
Watching all of the dragons walk between the white robed candidates was a struggle, trying to keep track of them all - eggs hatching, impressions being made. It was a different world that Saramune couldn’t imagine.
It is not a different world, Saramune. It is your world. I will have no other - your duty is now to your Seifoth!
The call all but grabbed him by the throat, pulling Saramune from the stands and throwing S’une out onto the sands to the bronze who sat waiting for him. They’d remain in Ista Weyr long enough to be at least mostly-sure they could fly without getting killed immediately for the effort. Then, both man and dragon would return to the Mercenary group. Unfortunately, outside of Elamune and a few other younger folk, they weren’t exactly thrilled to accept the dragon. Dragons were extra work - and for many of them, Seifoth was the closest they’d ever been to one. There was fear. Rather than allow himself to be chased away from this ‘family’, however, S’une took on more solo tasks. Many of which weren’t the finest of work.
It would be in the shadow of one of these jobs, while wrapping things up at Black Sand Hold, S’une would meet another piece of his ultimate destiny - a greenrider from Western Weyr named Cassali. For Seifoth, who spent most of his time without the company of another dragon, her Diadrath was like a siren call and he was immediately smitten. So what should have been a one-time dalliance between the two riders became two, three, and more between their dragons wanting to see each other….and frankly, S’une’s own desire to see Cassali again.
Desire that would breed a strange, uneasy fear in S’une when she got pregnant. Fear he’d thought had been left in his childhood with a memory of a dead mother and a short lived brother. That fear pulled him from his living situation and to Western Weyr to be with her full-time or at least as much as one could be when he was still working. The birth of their first child would wipe most of the unease from S’une, though it would still rear it’s ugly head as their next two entered the world. He’d leave to work as a Mercenary less and less after the birth of each, his jobs soon not taking him far from the Western Continent.
Life at Western Weyr was ideal for S’une and Seifoth, who allowed their guard down in their new normal. First Fall would shake up everything - though they would have the luck of both them and theirs being safe for it. He has stepped up to the plate of Threadfighting, determined to keep his family and his home safe for it. Other: Elemune is still alive! He’d be about 95! S’une and Casseli had 3 children together - 1 son and 2 daughters (ages are ??????)
