Meaning of (name): Boi-tatá (Portuguese pronunciation: [bojtaˈta]) is the Brazilian equivalent of the will-o'-the-wisp.[23] Regionally it is called Boitatá, Baitatá, Batatá, Bitatá, Batatão, Biatatá, M'boiguaçu, Mboitatá and Mbaê-Tata. The name comes from the Old Tupi language and means "fiery serpent" (mboî tatá). Its great fiery eyes leave it almost blind by day, but by night, it can see everything. According to legend, Boi-tatá was a big serpent which survived a great deluge. A "boiguaçu" (a cave anaconda) left its cave after the deluge and, in the dark, went through the fields preying on the animals and corpses, eating exclusively its favorite morsel, the eyes. The collected light from the eaten eyes gave "Boitatá" its fiery gaze. Not really a dragon but a giant snake (in the native language, "boa" or "mboi" or "mboa").

Personality:
Boi-Tatá is lives like a reclusive in the swamp and comes out almost exclusively at night (when he can use his eyes to best advantage). He has no real need for company except to play mind games on. He is strong though he rarely uses his strength in a show of force, he'd much rather mentally decimate someone because those wounds last much much longer than physical ones.
He's very keen on legends.
Backstory:
Boi mother did not have him by choice, she had been forced upon by a mutant monster. Though she did her best to try to raise him with love and kindness, she could not overcome it. Boi remembers her trying at times very hard, but there was always a way she would shudder or move when she saw him as though she saw his father instead of him.
Perhaps because of shame, he and his mother lived in the secluded swamp, but over time it took it's toll on his mother. One day, he awoke to find her gone without a trace. He was still a foal then, but he knew that of all the theories he had that his mother had probably simply had enough. She could not bear looking at him for a moment more.
Strong even as a foal and with a superior intellect, he survived on his own in the swamp despite the odds. His only real friend (or rather minion) is his otter Nefarious.
As an adult he loves to lure others into the swamp with his spider like eyes to trap them or hold them hostage, becoming at last, the very thing his mother feared him to be.
