Dhyl looked at Kat as she explained. He wrapped his arms around her, hugging her tight. "I understand." he whispered, he scooted back, and began crunching on a stalk of celery. He thought about his own home, and how much he missed his mum. He sighed lightly, and looked back at the girls.

When Katrina couldn't find the words to say, Ariana put a hand on her shoulder for support. It hurt to hear the words come out of her best friend's mouth. It was terrible how a twelve year old girl could be treated! And the worse part was, it has been happening for years. Ariana couldn't look at Katrina in the eyes, for she, too, would have let a tear spill.

Ariana skipped through the Great Hall doors. She took in the wonderful decor that she got used to looking at every year. I'm back! her brain yelled as a large smile plastered itself on the girl's features. Not very many students arrived yet, and being the first Hufflepuff, she glided towards the table decked in yellow. She waited patiently, well, as patiently as she could, for her friends, housemates, classmates, schoolmates and newcomers to arrive.

Heather entered the Great Hall nervously, and quite awkwardly. Instead of her usual uniform she had picked out, Remy forced her to wear something else. A nice black skirt with a yellow band across it, paired with a flow-y blouse and flats. Urgh. Why couldn't she just wear her normal clothes? Turning her head, she called to her friend. "Come on, Dhyl. We need to hurry before the table gets swamped with firsties." she said. She walked down the aisle to the Badger table and claimed her usual spot at the end. She was sure to leave a spot on her right side open for Dhylan, seeing as he could only hear with his left ear.

Dhyl smiled at Heather. She looked amazing in her new outfit. He sat down beside her, making sure that his left ear was turned toward her. He never had gotten healed, and that made him mad. It was all thanks to his dad's new girlfriend. He offered a smile to Heather. "I'm sitting! Ready for the onslaught of firsties?" he asked playfully. He tucked his locket back into his shirt, and smiled again.

Rose looked slightly disappointed not being in the same house as Chance, she then sighed her feeling of it away and walked away with a smile to her new house, and sat next infront of Heather and Dhyl. She looked up at them and smiled softly. She seemed kinda nervous, and then looked down slightly.

Heather grinned at her friend. "Absolutely. I hope we get some good kids." she said to him. She watched as several students were sorted into her house, then turned back to Dhylan. "So, how was the rest of your summer, Dhyl? The parts where we weren't chasing Remy and Romy around." she asked him. He had become her "best guy friend" over the past year. Ah, she remembered when they would tease each other like no other. Good times. Good times. Just then, the cutest of girls sat in front of them. Heather smiled at her. "Hi. I'm Heather Hawthorn. Third year. Welcome to Hufflepuff." she said, greeting the adorable girl. Her blue eyes were even bigger than her own!

Heather smiled at the tiny girl. She was just too cute! "Nice ta meet ya, Rose. Don't listen to what some people say about Hufflepuff. Us Badgers are pretty epic." she said before turning back to Dhylan. "Your Dad has a girlfriend? Why didn't you tell me? If she can't remember your name, then she must be horrid. I mean, even I can remember your name. Dhyl. Simple as that." she said to her friend, giving him a small hug. She hoped his father wouldn't marry such a woman.

We would've proved it in Quidditch last year, but the Gryffindors' had Meridith. He was hard to stop." he said. He fiddled with his fork, ready for food to fill his plate. His stomach let out a loud growl.

Heather chuckled at his words. She was sure her parents wouldn't mind it, but she had a feeling that would never happen. His father must be having some little fling. No biggie. "Alright! I'll make you a spot in mine and Rem's room!" she teased. The subject quickly switched to Quidditch, and Heather got pumped. Yes. She even fist pumped. Right there at the table. In front of everyone. "Right on, Dhyl! We can do it this year! I just know we can! Power to the Badgers!" she exclaimed, feeling the urge to stand up in her seat and preach it to the entire student body. Thankfully, she decided against it. Another second year approached them by the name of Rose. Another one. Wow. Quite the popular name. But they were both still adorable. Heather waved at her and smiled, her teal eyes filled with a strange feeling: friendliness. Then, Nell joined in. Heather smiled at her younger friend.
