You really think so? I hadn't ever thought of this. How many of you would be okay with your husband going to a prostitute because you couldn't please him or couldn't please him often enough? I know I wouldn't but thats just my opinion.
If everything was legal, regulated, and safer sex practices were observed I honestly wouldn't mind. I'd probably still prefer if any of my partners were getting into fwb or another relationship rather than paying for sex, but that's a financial issue rather than anything else just because we don't have a lot of money to spend on 'extra' things in general so I think it would dent out budget more than anything.

Well, I don't see what's the problem with making prostitution legal! After reading all these points I'm fine with it! Not so long ago there was this report on the news about a prostitute who was successfully able to pay for a house, take care of her two children (who one of them is going to university) and keep up with her job as that! She keeps everything organized and she is compleatly content with that. I see no reason why to frown at her!
Obviously if it's legal then more will be aware of it, yes, and kids might as well. But when those children go asking what prostitution is, those parents better respond, "I'll tell you when you're older." and when that kid is much older and actually know what prostitution is, we'll see if he/she still is interested in it!
Well that's what I say. Nothing more! sweatdrop

If you have to wait to explain what a job is then it makes the job seem questionable.
Yeah but you still don't tell a six year old about sex. I'd give some sort of PG description, like men pay her to keep them company.

Well with the argument stated above it can be quite the opposite too. If a marriage is failing because of a lack of sex/meeting their sexual needs, both partners could agree to have prostitutes while still maintaining their relationship. Though this would take a turn for monogamy, it would certainly help those certain relationships where sex is their only issue.

Well who said it had to be your husband? Couldn't it be you? Again it's a possible theory for open couples.
Other people can have an open relationship if they want, but I wouldn't do this or allow this even if we were having sex problems. But maybe the amount of relationships it ruins will be balanced out by the amount of relationships it saves.

Okay, what about pregnancy? If the whole thing is going to be legal, there should be clear laws about pregnancy.

What if a female prostitute gets pregnant with a client? Does he have the right to be in the child's life? Does he have to pay her child support? And reverse for a male prostitute who gets a client pregnant. Also, what if a woman deliberately tries to use a prostitute as a sperm donor because she wants to have a kid? I know there are clinical methods, but can you really tell me it would never happen? Should that be illegal?

Why not? Sex is natural. I am not going to tell my child they came from a Stork. Now will I tell them all the details and uncomfortable aspects to speak of? No, that would just be an awkward conversation that they would not even be able to fully comprehend. Would I talk about prostitution to a six year old? No because I find it to be disgusting and sad. That is not really something to even discuss with your teens. Not important unless they ask and have concerns about the subject.

Well I'd tell my kid about childbirth and pregnancy (PG) but not sex until they are at least 10 or 11.

Personally, I think prostitution is wrong. People sucking money out of one another for "pleasure" or whatever they call it. Sex. And vice versa. Feeding each other diseases. They are part of the reason our world is unhealthy. Prostitutes can blame processed food all the time. They are all idiots. The sooner they learn that, the better.

User ImageI respectfully disagree. The act prostitution on it's own is not unhealthy. Certain reasons for turning that into a career choice, those are what are actually unhealthy. Other than that, I can't really defend prostitution. There are women and men who feel they can't earn enough money, if at all, with other limited skills or career choices.

I support institutions of safe, legalized prostitution, a brothel if you will cal it that. The Bunny Ranch in Nevada is a perfect example. Men and women alike go there (maybe more men), regardless of sexual orientation or background. The girls are tested and safe. It's a healthy way to explore ones sexuality and tastes. Don't really support the patrons who happen to be married though.

It is the oldest profession in the book. While it isn't the most respectable profession (in most places but in some countries/areas it is indeed an alright job, health benefits, they have the right to refuse something if they feel it's degrading, and a fixed salary), hey if they want to do it, then let them. So yes, in my opinion it would be fine if it was legal providing there was an age restriction (so younger people don't get involved in it)

I agree. Just because a job isn't appropriate for all to know about dosn't mean that it is bad.

Some girl's aren't old enough to know what a gynocologist is.
Porn Stars do nothing ilegal, yet you don't want your 4 year old knowing about them!
Etc., etc., etc....

And good for that woman!
Once in a role play my character was a retired prostitiute... redface

That does not make sense. About the porn anyway. You are further proving my point actually. I dislike porn and prostitution.

As long as the whores stay clean and do not spread diseases I'm fine with it.

I wouldn't be that blunt, but I agree.
