While he watched their effects splash uselessly against their armor he continued to try and watch for where the shield was being generated from. His best guess was that it was the small thing upon their backs but he would need further confirmation before continuing and making his move. Across the courtyard he saw the raikage approach the two. He stuck one of the feathers from his hair up onto the retaining wall. He wondered if she would make the connection that he was there and ready to take a shot upon her orders. But for now the most useful thing he could do would be to stay where he was and wait for the opportune moment.

After a long disappearance, Doc had finally found where Ayame was. He didn't go near the situation around the fountain, Instead he just hid close by in the shadows so that he could be left out of the fighting. He assumed that Ayame was able to sense him so if was needed, the Kage would be able to give him his orders.
But for now, he just watched and used the shadows to lurk. It had seemed like things had gotten really bad since he disappeared and he was afraid of just jumping right in to the thick of it.

Faced with the Hydra and everything that came with it, the woman took a deep breath and assumed a stance highly reminiscent of one the Hyuuga employed: one foot back and in line with the front, a palm at her side and one palm raised. In one smooth movement, she swept her forward arm in a crescent motion between herself and the incoming attacks. Frequent users of Taijutsu might have recognized the movement as a crescent block, but the effects were on a much larger scale: the incoming attacks slid around the three UHV members, slipping past and toward the Village behind them. Before any major damage could be done, though, greenish sparks scattered along the deflected Jutsu, interrupting the ongoing jets of flame and dispersing some of the destructive force of the rest. The Hydra would be untouched for now, but its attack had ended, and the woman now stood ready to take on whatever came next.
In the meantime, the other two UHV soldiers were busy setting up their own defenses: large shields folded out of their armor on one side, and at the same time they each drew a sword with their other hand. They set up a peculiarly sturdy-looking defense behind the woman, their shields looking oddly sturdy as they blocked a few licks of flame leftover from the attack.
"Consider our focus on defense to be a sign of goodwill, if you must," the woman opened, her eyes on the battlefield as she addressed Ayame. "It's standard procedure for us to attack Villages whenever it would be most devastating, as I'm sure you know, but that hasn't been going in our favor recently. Instead, I'm here to talk under the guise of salvaging an invasion. Will you listen to us and uncover our motives, or will you drive us out? The choice is yours. If you choose to talk or to let us leave peacefully, the only shot fired inside the Village will have been that flare."

Seeing flicks of flame overhead, Theo realized that the UHV had done something to deflect the barrage of jutsu he, Kaori, and Nova had launched their way. With the immediate threat of attack more or less abated by the Kazekage's words, the woman figured it was time to cut to the chase before the hydra started acting up again. Underneath all the sweat and grease of heavy machinery, Ayame would smell faint traces of rice paddies, marshes and grass.
"Thank you for your consideration," the woman began, her eyes raking over the area, not letting her guard down for one second. "I'll not mince words: The reason the UHV has garnered so much support is the monopoly the Great Nations hold over everything, from resources to military and economic force. It began as a way to even the playing field, so to speak, and that's what I signed on for, and that's where the initial driving force came from. However, since then, it has taken all manner of folks unsatisfied with the way things are run currently. Simply put: The Great Nations, and specifically the Villages therein, focus too much on themselves and act as if they are islands whose actions do not have repercussions. Kumogakure has just depleted the resource reserves of Takumi to dangerously low levels, and most Villages barely pay attention to other settlements within the same country until major problems arise. I tell you this out of love for humanity and because I don't think military force will ever be enough to change anything on its own. Ayame would look at the woman and nod, You do realize that Suna is not that way? Due to some of your forces occupying Saraswati and Rouran many people were afraid to go on with their daily lives. The UHV oppresses people under it's care. You also need to realize that your actions have repercussions. Many people have died defending against the UHV. What would the UHV have done if their invasions had succeeded? If military force isn't enough, what is? Ayame asked. It also seems that your machines of war require more materials than even Suna does during peacetime. After the amount of ships that have fallen at our crevice. After a few blocks, the two underlings lifted her up as she made hand seals. Relaxing his stance and his bow he returned the latter to its holster upon his back and returned his arrow to its quiver. Rising to his feet he nodded hearing Ayame's words. With a sigh he grabbed the eagle feather from the ledge and slid it back into his hair. After a second of looking over the devastation of the village he blinked and was gone in a cloud of dust and sand.

Doc smiled as the UHV retreated. He had a feeling that the reason they ran was because they realized that they wouldn't be able to withstand the defense of Suna. Doc found the conversation to be a very interesting one though and was sure to remember it.
As Ayame called everyone to her office, Doc knew that this rest was going to be very short. He slipped in to the shadows and strolled off towards the Kage's office.
Kaori and Nova were not happy, but they had faith in their Kage. Despite wanting blood, and Nova still not getting her arm or leg, they would do as Ayame said. Nova knelt down for Kaori to climb on.
"C'mon, let's go see what Lady Kage has to say to us." Nova nodded and took off, still upset and wanting blood.
