The Dream Over

(Just waiting so I can post!)

Only being on the center of the ladder, The Dream didn't have much to be pushed off of. The ladder came crashing down, and Cyrus fell off, hitting the canvas. Cyrus got back to his feet only moments later.

Salem, finally up to his feet on the outside, watched on as the chaos erupted within the squared circle. Jacob, previously on the outside with Ryan, had come back in to make the save by pushing the ladder over that Cyrus and Brody were trying to climb. But, as the challenger shoved the ladder over, Salem would slip beneath the bottom rope, trying to run up on Griffin and deliver a Dropkick to the ladder in his hands...hoping to drive it into his own chin and bring the man off his feet!

The ladder that Brody and Cyrus were on crashed to the mat and Jacob was now standing in the middle of the ring ladder in hand. Brody took the harder fall so he turned his attention to Cyrus. Jacob threw the ladder like a spear, trying to hit Cyrus with any part of it that he could. This wouldn't save Jacob from eating a dropkick however as Salem's boots connected with his chin and sent him crashing to the mat.

Salem had just dropkicked Griffin and taken him down. Ryan opportunistically ran into the ring and attempted to nail Salem with a Running Double Knee Facebuster (Codebreaker).

The titantron cut to a section of the audience cringing as the sound of Salem's heels striking the bone of Griffin's jaw echoed through the arena, bringing Jacob down to the mat with a resounding thud. Likewise, Salem himself fell to the canvas, landing on his forearms with an enthusiastic slap of his fists. Though the audience was less encouraging, the rookie was feeling it - the tide of momentum starting to swing his way. Springing back up to his feet, Salem turned around just in time to catch Ryan, fresh from the outside, trying to catch the Next-Generation Sensation by surprise with his agile Double-Knee Facebuster...however, Salem attempted to counter the maneuver by dropping to one knee as Ryan's weight tried to drag him down, looking to nail The Lion's groin with an Atomic Drop, instead!

The crowd went into an upheaval as Salem was momentarily the only man standing in the ring, each other contestant having been taken out over the span of a few captivating moments. It was a satisfying feeling, grasping the ladder that had previously held the weight of Brody and Cyrus, lifting it off the ropes to stand it up once again. This was his chance, the gold of a future world title reflected in Salem's eager eyes as he started up the ladder, clearing the first several rungs by leaping up the side. Wasting no time in trying to retrieve the briefcase that hung so tantalizingly above his head, the daring rookie tried to reach the top step before his other opponents could recover!

Luckily enough for anyone who was itching to see a fight on the top of the ladder, Brody had managed to avoid Salem's onslaught before he started concentrating on the climb. Taking advantage of his non-injured state, Brody released the ropes and went for the ladder, hoping to make it to the top before Salem could get the case down from its wire.

Salem was clawing his way up the rungs of the steel ladder, frantically trying to get to the summit and retrieve the coveted briefcase from its dangling perch. However, the sight of a second-winded Brody aiming for the same motivated Salem even further, who was just managing to get his elbows onto the peak while Robinson pursued hot on his heels.

Brody reached the top of the ladder a moment after Salem did, and he briefly stopped to think. He could knock Salem off, but the rookie looked tired and hurt enough as it was, and Brody wasn't one to prolong someone else's pain. Instead, he decided to ignore Salem and reached up for the case, trying to get it down before Salem could come up with an offense.

Salem was reaching up for the briefcase as Brody tried to do the same, fans enthralled at the potential stand-off between the endearing face and the menacing heel that stood above the ring. The rookie managed to get a hand on the metal, but he couldn't keep a grip with Robinson working against him on the opposite side. Worried that a conflict at this height might end up taking him right back down to the canvas, Salem thought to play some psychological warfare with the fan-favorite, looking over at him while still trying to grasp the beloved briefcase.

"You don't want this, Brody!" Salem challenged, his statement a direct contradiction to his opponent's actions. "I know you think you do, but you don't! These people aren't chanting for you, they only want to see you beat me! They're afraid of the change I represent! You think they want you as a champion?! You play a part to them! Just like the rest of the company! They don't care about your career...and this, this is only going to be another way for them to disappoint you! But I can change that! Don't get in my way! Stop wasting yourself, and help me help you!"

"I can help you both!"

Ryan screamed as he hoped to surprise the two men on the ladder. Ryan was up, and with his hands on the side of the ladder, using all his might to tip it over and send the two bastarrds on the ladder crashing down.

After pulling himself back to his feet, Cyrus' only sight was a ladder flying at him like a javelin. Hitting him in the chest, The Dream fell backwards into the ropes, the ladder now laying at his feet.

In the dark rafters ahead of the people, a dark figure was spotted. He loomed over the briefcase, looking at the cable that supported it. He noticed a couple of people fighting for it, so he straddled the where he was sitting, and began to yank on the cable trying to pull it away from them and up towards himself so that they couldn't get the briefcase, not going to make this match easy, as if he were sent by FG officials to make sure there was more excitement in the match, though he probably wasn't.
