The creature circled her boat. Moving faster and faster, Millie was having a hard time keeping up with the movements. Judging the distance and speed of this creature was starting to make her dizzy so she held her weapon high above her head and brought it down onto the water where she was sure the fin would be.
Except it wasn't. The creature, now behind the boat and the bewildered Millie, rammed the boat hard, toppling Millie flat onto her face.
"Yurf sit!" came a muffled sentence. Pulling herself up, she repeated her angry shout towards where the creature had hit her boat. "That's it! You are so DEAD!"

Terra stopped looking for it and slammed her violin axe side down into the water--and managed to actually almost fall out of the boat entirely. There was no damage done--other than to her pride. Thank you, dice. Thank you.

The circling and bumping and anxious waiting went on, and Nahm stabbed at the water with frustration. It was like the predator was just toying with them.

Millie swung her weapon around in the water, hoping to hit the unseen creature.
Spying the surfaced fin, she gave it a good "thwack" with the side of the blade.

This time, Terra started beating on the water with her violin. If you can't hit it with one good hard hit, maybe you can hit it with several pathetic!
And oddly, as ridiculous as that theory seemed, it worked.

The creature hit her boat hard. Millie retaliated by hitting it harder.
This thing just would not give up! While Millie would have been fine hitting it all day, it was clear her boat was looking quite worse for the wear and would not take many more hits like that last one.

"Doesn't this thing get tired?" Nahm complained. He clung to the side of the boat as it rocked and creaked ominously. The cold was getting to him a little; his feet were going numb, and he hoped crossly that he wasn't going to have to see a Fearhealer about that.

"I have never been to sea before," Terra said, shoving her hair out of her face. "But I have not had a very good impression of it--at all." Once she could see again she brought up her violin over her head and slammed the blade down into the water hard. She really was anti-water creatures at this point--especially ones that tried to wreck your boat. Or your brother.
Somewhere--flirting with another ghoul in a long line of them, Roch sneezed for no good reason.
