Taylor watched the unnamed figure leave. Funny, she couldn't get a read in their Gender. She was usually pretty good with that, a touchy subject taken for what it was. It irked her slightly. From her spot next to her closer she watched then sent a small group of kikaichu freon her person. A fledgling queen amoung then, she had them find a dark corner under a dressee containing her coring and would leave them there for a time. Their task was to stay on a home security give. She picked up her Hoxie and her bag, then would leave the room, closing the apartment behind her, locking it, and taking her key with her. [Exit]

Elle flowed into the area as particles, materializing and solidifying outside her door before roughly opening it. She made her way inside, straight to the room she had chosen and quite literally threw her mask off of her person, it clattering against the wall. Her eyes were red and puffy and there were twin lines of dried tears down her face as she kicked her door shut, nearly triggering the security systems implaced in the apartments themselves, rattling the frame easily. She looked over at the mirror and began walking towards it. She took several minutes, gazing at her reflection. ( 2/5 )

Her face wasnt bad but scars crisscrossed the childlike visage over the top of a bad burn that made the skin shinier where it was devoid of the tiny transparent hairs most people seemed to have. To her she seemed disfigured, broken and scary. She started to get a sad look on her face then an angry one. She let out a loud incoherent angry yell as she grabbed the back of her desk and headbutted her mirror, cracking the glass into fragments. Some dug into her skin, eyes reflexively closing as she got near the surface to prevent damage. ( 3/5 ) She did this another time, her ears ringing from the impact this time. A third time hard her world moving unsteadily as she cracked the baseboard then slumped back into her desk chair, letting her arms hang, one beside her and the other sitting on her leg.

She looked up at the reflection, the pain from the various cuts helping her to focus on the image. A moment of clarity saw herself as not a monster but a lonely soul. She was a lonely soul honestly. ( 4/5 ) She knew this well, but it was buried deep under insecurities and self loathing. She shut her eyes as a bit of blood dripped down from her scalp, running down her forehead. Standing she took a fresh towel and held it to her head for a few minutes to staunch the flow of blood before collecting her mask. She moved to pick up her mask and fit it back in place, hiding her self inflicted injuries behind the unique signature that was her mask. She had a plan now that she had a few moments to think. Something big that would make an impact. She would be noticed. She would be cuddled! And it would be a good moment in her life. She turned, making to leave her apartment and heading for the waterways. ( 5/5 Teir reached)

Kagerou ascended the Sero again. Normally, he would enjoy the cool night breeze, the view of the stars over the dark lake, and the feel of the living tree beneath his feet and on his hands. It would be a long walk up, but the night had only just begun and he had the time for it.

However, not today. The night was young, but there was so much he wanted to do tonight, some of it recreating urges that Kagerou had relieved in the hospital. Patience, though. Now, was the time for patience. Rather than his usual walk, Kagerou took the elevator up through the massive tree.

While waiting for the elevator to ascend to his parent's floor, Kagerou leaned his back against the rear wall of the small compartment. There were others in the small space. In fact, there were a lot of people. Right about now was when people started to return home and it would probably stay this busy for a while. However, Kagerou had no interest in any of them. None of them were Shadow. Caring neither for the people directly nor for how they thought of him, Kagerou acted like he was all alone the whole way up. In these silent moments, except not really because there was a low mumble of chatter that Kagerou just ignored, her mind wandered. There came the goofy smile again as Kagerou thought about Shadow. "Kitty ears," she muttered as her hands scrunched open and closed like she was rubbing Shadow's cat ears. Hug, touch, scratch the ears, brush the tail along with the hair on top of his head. Kagerou wanted to do it all. He also wanted to give Shadow a nice place to sleep. He looked so exhausted and he probably wasn't supposed to leave the hospital that early. Of course Kagerou wasn't going to make him return to that dangerous room. Even if it wasn't dangerous, the Kagerou right would much rather invite Shadow to sleep in his room, preferably on the same bed so they could hug and cuddle. Alas, that probably wasn't going to happen. Kagerou sighed dejectedly.

The elevator was taking too long. Way too long. It actually was pretty fast, but everything took too long at this point. By the time it reached the floor Kagerou needed, he was biting his newly healed lip beneath a hand that had come up to cover a mad blush that had begun to spread through his face when he started to wonder if Shadow had turned into a girl. Kagerou thought both were equally lovely, but a whole new gender brought along so many possibilities she had never thought about. So many different types of Shadow that could be possible, but Kagerou knew that he would only know the best when he saw what Shadow had really become. Just letting his mind fantasize about his crush made him so happy. What even was this crazy feeling?

The elevator stopped at the floor Kagerou needed, and with a few others, he exited onto the floor. People mulled about the various passages, talking casually and just generally loosening up after a long day. Kagerou thought futilely. He didn't want to embarrass himself in front of Shadow, after all. [8/10]

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show. The night was quiet. Kyoka was home alone, a rare sight indeed. She was an elegant beauty. Silky hair reached down to her waist and a light but perfect application of her makeup really brought her beauty to a level above that of most housewives without making her look not like a mother of one. Most people who learned her age were surprised to know she was as old as she was. If people looked hard enough, they would definitely be able to see that it was her mother Kagerou resembled. However, something about the little things Kyoka had perfected--her expression, the way she carried herself, and the techniques used to enhance her features--made her appearance clearly superior.

Her husband, Suigetsu, had run out a few hours ago, claiming that he wanted to check on their daughter. He was stumbling over his words, as well as over the counter that he somehow run into on the way out, so Kyoka didn't really hear what he was trying to say. It seemed urgent. She supposed a mother should act worried, so here she waited, displaying all the traits of a worried mother. She paced to and fro in one spot and would pick things up before putting them back. She had managed to do some housework, but not without frequent interruptions. Every aspect of her life was an act, and she was, to say the least, a flawless actor.

Kyoka was looking forlornly out the window in the living room when she heard a knock on the door. Her head turned neither too fast nor too slow, and she walked to the door like any mother or wife. Except, unlike a normal mother or wife, her mind was calculating the identity of the person outside. It couldn't be her husband. He wouldn't need to knock. Perhaps her daughter? Or a friend of her husband's? Maybe her brother? For these people, she kept up the everyday act. However, should it be a visitor for her, someone with a new mission, then she was already ready to shift into the appropriate act for that role as well.

Once she stood in front of the door, Kyoka inquired, "Who is it?".
From the other side came a familiar name in an unfamiliar voice, "It's me, Mom. Kagerou."
Kyoka paused. A deathly chill fell over her expression. The one on the other side of the door wouldn't know the change. That was part of the reason why she shifted. All she knew was that the one on the other side was an imposter, a bad one. In this type of situation, the only act Kyoka knew to follow through with was restraint and then interrogation. However, there was one more possibility. In a display of her acting prowess, her voice carried through sweetly, "Ah… Is this a joke, maybe?". Her face had softened once more, a necessity to carrying the voice properly. However, her hands moved to prepare and dangerous results. This was why she was left home so rarely.
"No, this isn't" Kagerou replied. He frowned a little on the other side of the door. After waiting for a bit to hear a voice that did not come, he asked, "Is Dad not there?".
There was no chill in Kyoka. "Well, darling," not a hint of threat lay in her voice, "Why don't you come in and see for yourself?". Always acting. Always lying. It was impossible to tell when Kyoka lied on top of a lie.

Kagerou didn't need to know if his mom was lying to him, though. All he needed to know was that his Dad wasn't home and be self-conscious of the changes his body must have gone through. When the door cracked open, he immediately jumped back and into a defensive stance, the fear forcing the reaction even if his mind knew that his mom would be much more subtle than attack him in the hallway.

"W-wait!" Kagerou blabbered out an explanation, "Wait one moment. Please don't hurt me! It's really me, your daughter! Er, son now. I can explain. Please let me explain. Look. See, a lot of things happened. What's important right now is I was turned into a guy, I can't stop myself from doing what I want, and I'm in love with Shadow. Where's Dad?". It wasn't the most eloquent way of saying things, but it was the first way Kagerou thought to say it.
Kyoka did not relax. This was her relaxed. Whether she believed or not did not show on her face, just concern. There it was, the worried act again. "Dear, are you alright?" she asked, concerned. However, she kept her hands to herself, one curled over her chest and the other hidden behind the door where it, presumably, was holding the door handle. She stood to the side and invited. "Come in. Let me get something for you."
Hoping everything would be alright, Kagerou gulped nervously and entered without a word.

At his mother's suggestion, Kagerou took a seat at the dining table. Kyouka didn't reveal her fingers at all during the exchange. Her body was always in the way or the fingers were curled in or against her clothes. The unsuspecting wouldn't even notice that Kyoka was trying to hide something. Heck, most of the suspecting wouldn't either.

In the kitchen and out of sight, Kyoka slid off the poisoned nekote she had slipped onto her fingers before inviting Kagerou in. Did she believe her daughter/son. She did not know. She would need to observe for a while longer, and if it was really Kagerou, then a good mother wouldn't do something like suspect their own child, right? Right.

Returning from the kitchen, Kyoka carried a tray with two cups of tea and a snack. "It would be improper of me, as a wife, to have dinner without your dad," Kyoka explained and extended the invitation, "Kagerou, I know it hasn't even been a day, but why don't you stay and eat with us tonight?"
"No, Mom," Kagerou forgot his manners and skipped declining the offer politely, "I want to see Shadow as quickly as possible. Will Dad be home soon? Also, can you cut my hair while you're at it?"
was the biggest tip off Kyoka saw, . However, Kagerou did say that she had lost her self-control, and if her rudeness was any indicator, she was either telling the truth or he was a good actor.
Kagerou, for his part, had never felt more nervous in front of his mother. He hadn't thought this through, revealing the impulsiveness of what initially seemed like a normal idea. He kind of wanted out, so of he said, "Actually, I think I'll leave now," after the silence stretched past the mere count of ten.
Kyouka needed what she needed to do next. Firmly, she commanded,
Kagerou, already half way up, sat down immediately.
Taking the comfort of her child into consideration, Kyoka quickly asked the question that would determine Kagerou's fate. "In academy, which field of study were you recommended?"
"Recon and assassination?" Kagerou answered immediately.
Kyoka covered her tracks, a bit loosely, and excused the question as, "And now look at you. It's nice to reminisce about the past every now and then, hm?".
"Y-yes," Kagerou had begun fidgeting.
"Your father left to look for you. He will probably return if we give him a few minutes. I think he might be trying to catch up to you and just kept on getting into accidents," Kyoka stood up and moved aside the untouched tea and snacks, "In the meantime, let Mother fix that hair for you."

Relief flooded Kagerou. It looked like he was believed. The next few minutes, he surrendered himself completely to his mother's orders and touch. A few "Tut tuts" at the condition of his hair embarrassed him, but he stomached it. His mother was no professional, but he knew that she knew at least enough to fix a bad haircut into something presentable with some trimming. When the hair cutting began, Kagerou let himself relax into the feel of someone's hands brushing through his hair. His mother's hands felt so gentle even if they were slightly calloused as a result of her work as a puppeteer. Kagerou thought, no longer fidgeting now that he was relaxed, Unbidden, Kagerou mumbled out the name, "Shadow."

Kyoka had finished the haircut rather quickly, but ran her fingers through Kagerou's hair for longer than that. Her daughter appeared to enjoy it, and after hearing the mumbled name, she had to admit that the bizarre series of events Kagerou claimed was true. her mind searched for all possibilities, She sort of thought like Kagerou. Nothing could be done about what had already happened. As long as these abnormalities didn't put her in danger, then it was best to let it all play out. Shadow was no common name for a human and if Kagerou was thinking of recruiting her dad to find him, then he had to be a ninja, which was an even smaller pool. As for why Kyoka thought he would be good for Kagerou. Well, she didn't know much about the boy besides his name but she had heard he was the antisocial type and was anything but actively crazy. Assuming Kyoka had heard right and Shadow wasn't also infatuated with her daughter, then the worst Kyoka expected was a broken heart, one easily mended after Kagerou returned to her senses.

For now, Kyoka babied her child a little. Her hands moved through Kagerou's head as if her hair was still being cut. The scissors snipped at air now and then. Kagerou didn't suspect a thing as Kyoka continued the act of cutting her hair so that Kagerou could relax with the thoughts of this Shadow instead of counting away the seconds before her father arrived. Kyoka knew what love could do. She had to act like a lover when her job called for it.

Something slammed into the door at one point and then there was a click as the door opened to let in a tripping male with Kagerou's green hair and red eyes. He, unlike his wife, looked his age, which was about mid-thirties. "KAGEROU!" he exclaimed in happiness and relief and literally tripped to give his daughter a hug, "I'VE BEEN SO WORRIED FOR YOU!".
Expertly, Kyoka avoided being roped into the hug and began to clean up instead, keeping an ever watchful eye on the balance of the chair Kagerou sat in.
As if challenging his dad's shouts, Kagerou shouted in turn, "DAD! WHAT DO YOU MEAN?! CAN YOU GET OFF ME?! SHARINGAN. TURN YOUR SHARINGAN ON ALREADY!". For now, at least, he was somehow holding his own in regards to keeping both himself and his dad from falling to the floor with the chair. However, he wasn't sure how long he could hold.
Being too nice for his own good, Suigetsu turned on his Sharingan and began to mimic the movement of others immediately upon request. However, the request itself confused him. "K-Kagerou?" he asked, sounding more than a little hurt, "S-since when. Are you embarrassed because your dad can't even walk straight?". How to explain his expression. He looked devastated even though he could actually handle much more. Perhaps it was best to say that most of the devastation was really just shock.
Bringing out and placing a third cup of tea, even though she figured it'd probably go untouched, Kyoka cut through it all. Her voice, gentle, and yet sharp enough to attract the attention of the two fools, "Kagerou has gone through quite a lot of change. She-"
Panicking, or was he(?), Suigetsu rushed up to his wife and grabbed her hands, warm from just recently holding a cup of tea. "Is she going through puberty?!" he asked, nearly shouted.
"Suigetsu, dear" Kyoka tried to explain, "That isn't it."
"But look at how much she's changed!" Suigetsu motioned to his now male daughter.

Oh, now it became obvious to Kagerou what his dad was trying to do. Normally, he'd appreciate it, but right now, he just irrationally felt irritation. It had been so long already since he last saw Shadow. Why would his dad torment him like this? It was unfair. Never mind that pretty much every choice that had been made to keep Kagerou away from Shadow for so long had been made by the sufferer. Never mind that the sufferer's dad wasn't at fault for anything, really. The joke was bad. It was just a waste of time, and Kagerou had no way of stopping the harsh words from spilling out of his mouth, "Dad, stop! No one wants to hear your stupid jokes. I'm in a rush here, you know?! So please, just hurry and find Shadow for me, will you?!". she felt a new desire peek out, no, more than a desire, it was something like satisfaction, .

The room had gone eerily silent since Kagerou's rude yelling. Kagerou busily contemplated this new, unaccounted for factor. Suigetsu smiled quietly, and appeared to take everything in silent stride. Kyoka moved about the room quietly as she cleaned up after Kagerou's haircut. She found her husband's joke funny, but it was clear that he had something hidden up his sleeves, metaphorically speaking.

Kyoka was first to break the silence and ask because wives were sometimes supposed to be noisy, right? Her question was, "Do you know something about what's happening?".
"Not much at all," Suigetsu answered, carefree, "Just that the hospital is in minor chaos right now. It looks like some of the patients have gone," no words, but he whistled and looped a finger around his head in the universal sign of crazy, "I caught a glimpse myself and heard some things. I dunno about others, but to me, it just looks like everyone is letting loose with a volatile mixture of sudden, inexplicable, and obsessive love." The guy couldn't fight, but he sure was good at noticing things. Suigetsu's smile masked a world of worry and concern. His goofiness earlier was both a real part of him and also a sort of test to see if his daughter really had changed. He had been prepared for it when he noticed something severely off about Kagerou's signature and some nurses asked him if he was maybe hiding a son who liked to walk around with his shirt unzipped. Still, the advance warning only made it hurt a little less to see his daughter in a predicament he couldn't fix.

Talking about noticing things, he addressed Kagerou's plight before she could explode at him again, "Right, Kage, you want me to find someone named Shadow? Is that right?".
Kagerou really had been just about to burst and demand that his dad start looking for Shadow when Suigetsu brought up what the demanding teen wanted. He simply nodded, very vigorously.
Suigetsu cracked his knuckles and began to search for Shadow's chakra. First, though, he needed to confirm if it was the Shadow that he thought it was, "Is this the Silver that is Jack's brother?". If Kyoka saw the Mizukage's position before his age, then Suigetsu saw the opposite. As much as he respected the strange, top hat wearing teenager's leadership skills, he just couldn't up and forget that the leader was just a teenager, for better or for worse.
Kagerou nodded again, her mouth clamped shut. She looked incredibly torn. Internally, she felt terribly apologetic to her parents but she could also feel the urge to call them some choice words just to see their reaction. the fear returned.

Maybe if Kyoka and Suigetsu had been civilian parents, they would have tried to punish Kagerou, ground her for her being rude and to keep her out of trouble. However, they were ninja as well as parents. When they were Kagerou's age, they were mostly independent as well. She'd already moved out and everything. They could coddle and support her now, but then she wouldn't learn.

As a result, all Suigetsu felt justified to say about this occasion is, "Well, if it's that Shadow, then I guess it's better than most. Like, better than Jack. He's an oddball, that one. A great Mizukage, so far, but it's too weird." It appeared he and Kyoka were on the same wavelength about Shadow. Although, Suigetsu certainly felt more free about expressing his opinions on the Mizukage.
Kagerou at least shared his dad's position about the Mizukage. Although, for different reasons. "Yeah," he made small talk while fidgeting impatiently, "It'd be weird to be dating my teacher."
"Yes. Yes. Wait, he's your teacher?" Kagerou's dad's concentration broke. He had only just established it to find Shadow.
Kagerou snapped, "Yeah. Well, I guess it's actually just squad leader, but I was under the impression that he'd also be our teacher. Can you please hurry up and find Shadow?".
Kyoka had since disappeared without a trace. [9/10]

Kind of scared too, but for crying out loud, he was the adult here in the room, especially now that his wife had disappeared somewhere. He needed to act like it. Besides, more than anything, he was worried. Worried for his child like any parent would be.

"Kagerou," he decided to brave his daughter's anger, knowing that he would not be able to say anything to her after she received the information she had come to use her parents for, "Please, if you love me as I'm sure you do, just take care of yourself. You're a good girl at heart. If you just try to take care of yourself, then I'm sure everything will turn out alright."

"No," Kagerou cruelly rebelled, voice cold and quiet as it slipped through her weakening restraint. she muddled about in her thoughts. Even feeling terrible about what she had done had become a covetable feeling, and all because she had never felt it before. This sensation of doing and feelings things she'd never done or felt before pulled at her with almost as much strength as her love for Shadow. She tried to put it into words, Trembling, Kagerou stood and raised a hand at her father, relishing the feelings of self-hatred and guilt that coursed through her veins even before she caused any real damage.

Suigetsu's just sat there, shocked beyond word or actions at hearing his daughter deny her love for him. That aside, his hands were tied. Unable to help Kagerou, he could only watch as his daughter struggled alone. The only bright side was that this appeared to be plaguing several members of the village. It could not go unnoticed, and either this strange phenomenon would end on its own or the majority of the village that was unaffected by it would figure out some sort of solution. Suigetsu was no scientist of psychologist, so unless he was called upon to help deal with the situation, then he was out of cards.

Kyoka, still unseen, had different ideas from her husband. However, she also had a far different skillset.

Therefore, when Kagerou rose and raised a hand that stopped at the height of its arc, clearly about to slap him, Suigetsu could only watch silently and wait for it. He could block it. He could definitely punish Kagerou for striking him, but because he didn't think she was really at fault, he couldn't bring himself to hurt his daughter. Too kind for his own good, he simply turned the other cheek and hoped,

For what seemed like ages, Kagerou's hand remained frozen in the air, trembling with who knows what emotion. Kagerou couldn't tell himself until he… simply… broke down. Outrage. Passion. Pleasure. Disgust. Anticipation. Horror. A deluge of emotions heightened because they could not be stopped and magnified because of the not yet adapted to hormonal changes of the recent gender swap caused Kagerou to just crumple under the weight of it all. He meant to sit back in his chair, but he couldn't even do that. He narrowly missed and fell to the ground instead, tilting the chair off balance and causing it to clatter to the ground as well, a lot like how he had huddled when this whole fiasco first started. Except, this time, it was unforgivable. He couldn't find a way to reconcile these new sensations with what he wanted. At least, not with how the new sensations were currently exhibiting themselves.

Restrained by nothing, tears fell freely from Kagerou's eyes. He was clearly sobbing, shoulders moving and deep gasps of air loudly breaking the silence. He was so lost, . "Shadow… Shadow…," the signs of her uncalled for and undivided love showed themselves even in this situation. Although, Kagerou turned to his dad for comfort. Crawling under the table, Kagerou huddled up between his dad's legs and wrapped long arms around his dad's waist to find solace in the familiar physical contact. Not once did he let go of Shadow's shoes.

There was only one thing Suigetsu could really do in reply. He wrapped his arms around his suddenly crying daughter and try to console her by humming quietly while she continued to mention Shadow, the one thing she seemed to know she wanted through all of this, between sobs. He looked helplessly to his wife. Just because Suigetsu had been too distracted to do a dedicated search didn't mean he hadn't started the technique. His chakra sense was active and still working. He knew where his wife was and could feel that she was quietly manipulating the flow of her own chakra for who knows what. He just hoped she didn't have any crazy ideas.

Kyoka, as it turned out, had retreated behind a room divider that she had put in the living room just to create some blind spots in her own apartment. She felt more comfortable knowing she had options when it came to suddenly disappearing. Since then, specifically when Kagerou's silhouette had crawled under the table, Kyoka had stepped out from her hiding place. She was still not immediately noticeable, but she could at least see and, by those who knew where she stood, be seen from the dining table.

As Kyoka stepped out from the shadows, Suigetsu half-whispered, "What should we do?".

"We could restrain her now," Kyoka reasonably suggested and Suigetsu could feel the familiar trend of chakra that meant his wife was preparing chakra strings.

Suigetsu quickly shook his head in the negative, "No. No…"

"It would be for her own good. Like this, we don't know what she'll end up doing," Kyoka did not stop spinning her chakra strings slowly into a position she could securely and safely entangle her daughter from.

"I don't think our daughter would…" Suigetsu said a line that struck a chord in Kyoka.

Kyoka's expression suddenly changed. Gone was the calm, if a bit tactical, mother she had adopted as her unique motherly persona. Instead, there was someone else, a mask created from a memory she had seen more than once in her line of work. Hand clutched over heart and face creased in such worry that even though her body did not move it looked like Kyoka was bent over in apology, she begged, "I never thought our daughter would ever do something like that. Please, forgive her. She just isn't right in her mind." The mask shifted as fast as it came, replaced again by Kyoka's personal maternal mask. "Do you understand?" she asked her husband.

Suigetsu understood. However, his head still shook "no." It was clear that whatever fueled his negative was rooted deeply in something he had decided on a long time ago. "This is crazy. Everything in the hospital was crazy and knowing that Kagerou has it as well is… I just don't know what to do, but didn't we decide that when Kagerou became a genin, we would interfere with her life as little as possible? We won't always be around after all, so we agreed it will be better to see how she did without us while we were still around to step in."

"I don't know, Suigetsu. Right now, I'm so worried. I think now is the time to step in," gentle words that sounded so harmless and yet Suigetsu could feel that his wife's chakra had not abated in the least.

"Kyoka," Suigetsu pleaded. The hand he had been patting Kagerou's head with reached out to take his wife's hand.

As much as Kagerou had changed, there were some things that remained the same, the things that made up Kagerou's cores. Bawling his eyes out like he did now was uncharacteristic of him. Crying himself to sleep even more so. Eventually, his sobs stifled into whimpers instead and then soon after, even the whimpers were gone. He had come to just in time to hear the talk about getting, essentially grounded. His first thought, his first words since crying, "Let me go." Although, he still hugged into his dad's laugh, enjoying the feeling of physical contact too much to let go.

Both Suigetsu and Kyoka looked at their daughter, who had recovered a little quicker than they had thought.

Suigetsu's hands returned to patting his daughter's head.

Kyoka knelt and began to quietly wipe her daughter's face. Her movements and the handkerchief she used both gentle so that she would not further irritate the swelling that had already begun the eyes. "Blow," she commanded at one point, and received a hearty blow out the nose from Kagerou. It was just a cleaning, but there were some things that could be done even with just cleaning that lessened the aftereffects of tears. By the time the mother was finished, Kagerou looked much better than before. Her eyes still looked a little swollen and red but at least it wasn't her whole face. "Is it over?" Kyoka asked for a status update as she folded the dirt sides of the handkerchief in and pocketed it to be cleaned later.

"No," Kagerou felt like he had a fresh start, but both physically and mentally, he was still not himself. He still wanted nothing more than to see Shadow and only second to that was this new desire to try what he had never done before. However, his frustrations at not seeing Shadow had flowed out with his tears and the urge to try the new and, at times, unthinkable no longer surged as strongly through Kagerou. He described his findings aloud, "I think whenever I feel something new, it comes stronger than normal."

"We cannot let you leave this room," Kyoka stated matter-of-factly.
Kagerou replied in a scarily similar tone, "I won't let you stop me from seeing Shadow. More than that, I don't want to feel like I lost." How strange it was, for Kagerou's reason to be something as petty as her pride being at stake. However, that was basically what she felt now. The inner calm and peace she had taken for granted had now been shattered and it was becoming all the clearer that it was a detrimental force to her performance. As was in her nature, she hoped to somehow reconcile the two opposites. However, regardless of if that was even possible or not, she wasn't going to just give up and mark down her current condition as something she absolutely couldn't be relied on to function under.

If this was not her daughter, Kyoka would have suspected that second sentence was merely an excuse, a bait to convince her to release her target. However, Kyoka knew that her daughter could not lie like that. She meant to tell the truth. Although, whether she could actually make what she said truth was yet unknown. Still, after hearing Kagerou, Kyoka could understand just a little what her husband had meant.

Defeated, Kyoka stood without a word and left. Her silence a signal of how she could neither approve nor disapprove.

"Daddy," Kagerou childishly asked, looking up with his very teenage manly face, "Can you find Shadow for me, please?".

Suigetsu nodded and then nodded off, his chakra sense taking him far away from the Sero they inhabited. The distance was formidable, but Shadow's chakra stood out like a bright light amidst the many others that dotted the sky. Maybe it was because he was sort of kind of related to the current Mizukage, but Shadow's chakra had been much larger than nearly anyone else in the village for quite a while.

Finding Shadow's chakra did not take too long. What did take long, however, was figuring out where in the village that chakra signature was. This had to be done using purely just distance and other spatial indicators. Then, after that, Suigetsu had to track his target's chakra for a while, she he could get some sort of prediction on his future movements, which wasn't a necessity but very helpful if Kagerou was going to go searching for Shadow alone.

In the meantime, Kyoka returned carrying a tightly wound bedroll. Like a mother sending her child off to a friend's house for an overnight visit, Kyoka laid the bedroll besides Kagerou and sweetly insisted, "Here, Kagerou, it's getting late, so take this with you in case you get caught sleeping outside of your room. Also, give me those shoes. Let me tie it to these so it'll be easier to carry."
When Kyoka's hand extended for the pair of shoes Kagerou held, Kagerou clutched them to his chest and furiously shook his head.

Between Kagerou's body and hands and Suigetsu's legs--Kagerou was still between them--Kyoka wasn't going to be able to grab the shoes without having to force something. Therefore, she didn't. She just laughed, like her child was being silly, and let it go, "Fine. Fine. Mother understands. You're a big girl now. I'll let you tie them to the bed roll yourself."

Suigetsu had finished with his search. Bringing up both legs so he was no longer straddling his daughter's head, something he felt weird even if Kagerou had no sense for such things at the moment, he presented Kagerou the information only after narrowly catching himself before he toppled to the ground, "It appears Shadow is at the Crafting Collective. Hard to tell where but seeing how he didn't move much for a while and knowing about-"

Too long. The explanation was too long. Kagerou wasn't angry that it was long and his patience wasn't wearing thin. He just wanted to be with Shadow as fast as possible. Kagerou blurted out, "So where the smiths are?!" as he climbed atop his dad in his excitement. He had already guessed as much.

"Erm, yes," Suigetsu confirmed Kagerou's guess, more than a little uncomfortable that his daughter had tossed away all his efforts to create a less awkward situation by literally climbing into his lap. From this position, Kagerou sort of towered above him now.

"Thank you!" Kagerou now had all he needed, and because he was so grateful, he gave his dad a peck clean on the lips before grabbing the bedroll and rushing out.

Exit to Crafting Collective || Shops and Crafts

Suigetsu was genuinely stunned.

Kyoka's act called for her to be stunned so she didn't do anything to stop Kagerou either.

"I-I… Did we do the right thing?" Suigetsu really had no choice after seeing his daughter do a sudden 360 from sort of restraining herself to running out full force. He had to wonder if somehow this curse had even given her the ability and willingness to lie.

Kyoka offered innocently enough, "It's still not too late to go after her."

Suigetsu quickly waved his hand and shook his head to mean no, "No. No, it's okay. I thought she would do this…"

It looked like tonight was going to be a sleepless night for a parent. Kyoka could already see that. Wasn't too hard to notice when Suigetsu tried to relax by reading a book… upside down. How would she act with this in mind? She made it known, "I'll be going to bed now," and turned in early for the night. Wouldn't do to have both parents tired and sleep deprived.

Suigetsu just kind of idly tried to laugh it off and weakly joked, "Aahhh.... Youth and young love. How energetic... Ahaha..." He still did not realize that the book he held was upside down. [10/10]

• Specialist -The user chooses to specializing in healing medical techniques and gains a great boost to their chakra control in that area. At Chunnin, they gain a -5 chakra reduction to perform techniques in their specialty. at Jounin, -10, at Konin -15 at Sannin -20. To clarify, they they gain a -5 chakra reduction every rank, to a maximum of -20 at sannin. All medical jutsu are still learnable by both sides, but the chakra control only applies to the chosen side.

• Grand Performance - The user can perform both types of arts (ninjutsu and genjutsu) through their performance or instrument, often casting them at the same time (must pay for both techniques). Can perform D rank techniques through instrument at gennin, C at Chunnin, B at jounin, A at Konin, and S at Sannin.

• Learn Medical techniques one (1) post faster.

• Learn ninjutsu (1) post faster.

• Learn genjutsu one (1) post faster.

• D"eye"versity - Through the use of custom techs, Kagerou can swap between the normally limited abilities and techniques for her sharingan, potentially giving her access to all eye abilities and mangekyou techs. She can never have more than the written limits at any one time (e.g. access to all eye abilities but cannot use more than two at a time). In addition to learning the required custom and whatever additional requirements that custom might have, Kagerou needs to fulfill certain conditions for a safe swap. Each Sharingan ability or technique swapped must be retrained and adjusted to, a process that takes twenty [20] posts at first for each Sharingan ability/technique, is reduced by two [2] posts every time the Sharingan ability/technique is safely retrained, and can take a minimum of six [6] posts per Sharingan ability/technique. If necessary, Kagerou can perform a riskier, instant swap on the fly without the readjustment period, but these swaps can only last for up to five [5] posts and disables the Sharingan, which needs to recover from the strain, for twice [x2] the number of posts that the swap lasted for. Techniques learned with the 'To Copy' Sharingan ability, which can be swapped out, are not forgotten but must be retrained every time Kagerou safely swaps to the 'To Copy' ability. Instant swaps to the 'To Copy' ability give Kagerou all of her copied techniques without needing to retrain them. For every time Kagerou safely swaps to her 'To Copy' ability, her copied techniques take two [2] less posts to retrain, going down to a minimum of one [1] post to retrain each copied technique.

• Miracle Performance - Kagerou can perform healing eiseijutsu through her performance/instrument as if it was ninjutsu of the same rank. When performing healing medical techniques, she can target anyone who can hear her music with the jutsu. I.e. she no longer has to be within touch range of the target to use healing hands.

The Good Host - 1/2 off all implant chakra requirements.

Mind and Body - A sound soul resides in a sound mind and a sound body. To ensure the health of all three, Kagerou must master every aspect of medicine. Kagerou gains an additional medical field type. The additional type needs to be trained separately from the first.

Evergreen Growth - Life always finds a way, especially when it's helped by someone who truly cherishes it. Plants cultivated by Kagerou grow as if the soil they are nourished by is +1 grade higher than it actually is. Unfertilized soil yields crops in 2 rl weeks. Low-grade fertilizer yields crops in 1 week. High-grade fertilizer reaches a new level of fast and yields crops in 4 days. (Post-acceptance note: I just realized that there is an Evergreen religion in this guild. I did not mean for this to be a religious PA in any way. It's just botany. I hope that's not a problem.)

[x] The chance to be alone was both a relief and, well... lonely. After waking in the hospital, lost and confused, I thought I'd been alone, but others had kept me company ever since. And it felt nice. Not to mention the bloom of emotions I'd felt talking to Kagerou. It was faint, but it was definitely there. At the very least, she wanted to be a friend, and if I needed anything right then, it was that. Someone who could set me in a direction in a world I had no memory of. Now that I was by myself, though, and not under the influence of some otherworldly power, I had nothing to focus on, to hold on to, to keep my worries and fears at bay. What the hell happened to cause me to lose my memory? It couldn't have been a bump on the head because I wasn't physically hurt in anyway, outside of a few scrapes and bruises. The only other big cause of amnesia that I could think of was post traumatic stress, blocking out whatever occurred from my mind in order to keep me sane and safe. But why all of my memory, and not just a small chunk?

That aside, what was so horrible that it was necessary?

Or maybe there was some sort of mystical means. The shinobi had the ability and know-how to do a lot it seemed, wiping someone's history wasn't all that far-fetched, I think. Sighing, I tucked my hands under my armpits and looked around. The directions Kagerou gave me were helpful--I'd assured her I would remember everything she said when she expressed doubt--but the whole place was unfamiliar to me. After taking a lift up to the residential district, I'd gone a variety of directions that led me, supposedly, to the building the village's shinobi lived. Or at the very least where my apparent squad lived. It didn't help that everything looked so similar. The buildings looked like they were grown from the surface of the tree, and without much individual design. While there were intricate patterns on every home, they and the bridges between them quickly became monotonous. About the only real excitement or individuality was the view they got of the village, and sunrise or sunset.

Still, the directions I was given were well enough, and I found the right address. A simple turn of the knob and the door opened effortlessly, making me half wonder if they were actually locked to someone without the sigil Kagerou had mentioned. Which reminded me: where was mine? I supposed a wash wouldn't hurt anyway so I'd find out then, I supposed.

The inside of the apartment, although made a little homey by the people who already lived there, was almost as boring as the outside. Glancing around as best I could without intruding revealed, although the rooms were a decent size, they all looked the same. No way out except the front door and I guess if you wanted to climb out a window, which was a little disappointing. But it was a place to sleep and we probably wouldn't spend time doing much else there anyway. Or I assumed shinobi were kept busy anyway. Likewise, there was two, small bathrooms for everyone to use, and a standing shower, so there was no real opportunity to relax there in a bath. Which came as a bit of surprise, given soothing the muscles after a hard day might have been appreciated. But who was I to judge. Kitchen with utilities, and a lounge space that looked slightly lived in, and stairs leading up to what looked like an attic loft. There were four bedrooms on the main floor.

No one else seemed to be home.

Each room had a plaque associated with a name engraved on the steel, and mine was the back right corner on that first level. Even it looked lived in, another echo of the past I couldn't remember. With a sigh, I striped off my new boots and all excess clothing aside from my shorts and the red tank top I wore before taking the time to look around the room. The room was pretty bare, but a collection of drawing had started on one wall. The bed was unmade, the blankets a knot piled in the center, and a variety of other clothing articles were scattered about. On the desk against one wall, a series of sketchbooks without any sort of label were stacked neatly, about the only thing about the room that was. As for the drawings, they were a variety of creatures I didn't recognized, although some matched the vague description Kagerou gave of the monsters from six months before. There were a few images of people I likewise couldn't place, and a lot of gesture sketches for practice. Separated slightly were what looked to be schematics for maybe puppets? A bird, a bear, a tiger, my arm--oh, so that's where that was--and a few others that looked half finished. Huh.

The rest of the room was uninteresting so I turned my attention instead to the bathroom and the shower within. Towels were found in a cabinet there. I honestly had no idea if they were mine, but maybe no one would notice if I put them back afterward?

Removing my shirt answered quickly where the sigil I had was located: in the center of my back, evidently. It was actually a fairly interesting design. The center line looked vaguely like an arrow, with a diamond as the head and a second diamond below that, facing down. A crescent moon orbited the lower...upper? half of the arrow, facing up, and a line near the arrowhead reminded me of a bow. A few other lines decorated it for flavor. I realized at the sight of it, that I'd seen a doodle of it on the wall of the bedroom. It fit snugly between my shoulder blades, neither too large or too small. Out of sight but still prominent, and just looked like a cool tattoo rather than anything conspicuous like a fuuin. Right, fuuinjutsu... that was something I specialized in, wasn't it?

Took that opportunity to look at the rest of me. Physically, I was probably early teens, muscles undefined, and underdeveloped. I was fairly certain I was small for my age, standing a little under five-and-a-half feet, and thin enough that my collar bones and a bit of the ribs were visible when I breathed. A dark stripe matching the ones on my face circled each of my sides, ending an inch or two from my navel, and a similar distance from my spine in the back. Then of course there was the puppet arm. However I'd lost it hadn't been clean; scars patterned the edge of the attachment point, and a splatter of what looked like the remains of burns dotted my shoulder, neck, and side.

Was the arm waterproof? I sort of assumed not with the strange blue heart of it exposed--I guess that made it work?--but I didn't exactly have the tools to take it off standing naked in the bathroom, so it didn't really matter.

The shower itself went quick; I didn't bother lingering in case someone else showed up. Since I hadn't the faintest which shampoos or anything belonged to me I used what I could find that didn't have an overbearing scent, and dried and dressed as quickly as I could so that I could try to sleep before the apartment became populated.

Except when I actually tried, I couldn't seem to settle, which basically confirmed my theory of insomnia. I think I nodded off for a few minutes but a random chill jolted me back awake. Why? I glanced around the room, half expecting to see something staring at me, but it was quiet as ever. Laying back down, I stared at the ceiling, letting my mind wander back to the information Kagerou had given me before, regarding the Sero event--which reminded me that I was under a roof that was attacked the trunk of the monster-producing tree--and the 'Nightmare'. I wondered how regularly stuff like that happened, if there was village altering events every few months. If that was the case, it was a wonder anyone still lived there, and I pondered why I hadn't left myself after it happened. I guess loyalty was a thing. Right then I didn't have that tie... but what little I knew was all I had. And throwing that away could hurt some of the people who knew me.

I still wasn't so sure about the whole shinobi thing. The little knowledge I had of my history told me my life hadn't been a kind one. I'd lost an arm and really got to see the damage of that when I took a shower. I'd lost my memory from something huge that, from my guess, broke Jack, who I once viewed as a brother. By the sounds of it, I didn't really get along with anyone in the past. It was clear the former me held some sort of grudge against something. Maybe the world in general because he couldn't escape the fact the his life wasn't the worst. Or maybe it actually was, in which case, why would I want to go back? I glanced at the bow the Mizukage had given me, leaning against the desk where I'd discarded it along with everything else. I knew how to use it, and use it well, but... did I want to?

        Something landed on my chest.

The sound I let out in surprise reversed whatever puberty I'd gone through, and I promptly threw myself off the bed. Hands raised in defense, expecting some sort of attack, I turned to see what hit me.

        And found a kitten.

The small cat was stared at me with eyes just as big, orange in color that reminded me of the colors of fall. So did her fur, speckled with a variety of oranges among black. A tortoiseshell, with a short tail, lanky legs, and big paws. I blinked, and she blinked back. Huh, friendly cat. But how did she get into my room with the door closed?--I peered over my shoulder to make sure it was in fact shut. Was she my cat? I guess I could ask the others whenever they got back. Reaching out carefully with my puppet hand, she rubbed against it rather forcefully, licking at one of the fingers. Of course, I couldn't feel any of it. Panic finally leaving me I sat, and a moment later laid down once more. My heart still pounded in my chest but it was passing as well.

A gentle purr started up from the kitten, and she climbed up onto my chest, where she promptly started cleaning herself. "You startled me, you know?" A small grin touched my lips, and I rubbed her head with my normal hand, enjoying the feel of the soft fur. I couldn't sleep, but at least I had company, apparently.

Outside the door to his owner's apartment, a white cat sat. With one blue eye and one green eye, he glared at the wood that impeded his path and annoyed him so.He was large, over two feet long before even factoring in the tail, which wrapped around his legs, and his long hair only added to his size. However, he was most definitely a domestic cat breed, Norwegian Forest to be exact.

The forest cat was as still as a statue as it waited for entry into the room. Well, except for when a girl's Shadow's scream tore from the room he watched. The high-pitched scream caused a ear to flick, bothered by the sound. However, one flick and it returned to being eerily still, waiting and waiting for the door to open.

⇣ | The walk up to his apartment was always interesting. Shinomu's almost invisibility meant that people greeted him, stepped aside, and were then confused as to why they were standing off to the side. It usually happened at least two or three times as he walked up. Now, though, it didn't give him the usual helpless amusement that it had this morning. Now he just wanted to get to his apartment and close off everything. Feeling exhausted emotionally, he barely got the door open and closed before he just collapsed against a wall. Sitting with his hands on his knees, he pulled his hat off and yanked down his mask, taking a deep breath. This was so often the best part of his day. When he could be completely natural without worrying about hurting anyone or himself. Without standing, he shed his jacket, tossing it across from him, yanked his shirt over his head, kicking it to join the jacket, and began fighting the body suit. The zipper to release it was hidden in the folds of his mask and, with it down and rumpled like it was, it was hard to find. Eventually he found it and yanked it loose, pulling his arms out of the sleeves, turning them inside out as he got his fingers free, falling sideways in the process. It clung to just above his hips as he lay partially face down on the floor, his hair a tousled mess.

Shinomu blew the air out of his lungs, sighing in irritation as he finally sat back up. His body was relatively free of scars, with a few from childhood hijinks, and was toned appropriately for a man of his size and occupation. He had a few tattoos that were odd though. Two over his left breast were heavily detailed hand prints, so detailed that upon inspection one could see the very finger prints and lines of the palms. There was another that was slightly distorted over a scar and it was of a hand print that looked like it was gloved, maybe a doctor's hand in a glove. Rising onto his hands and knees, Shinomu grabbed his discarded clothing and stood wearily. Passing the kitchen, he moved into his bed room and fell face first onto the bed, ignoring the rumpled and unmade bed sheets. His shoes quickly joined the clothes that he had dropped as he fell and soon were joined by the pair of pants he wore over the body suit. After that, Shinomu seemed to lose the energy to really undress and just crawled forward to curl up on the rumpled sheets.

"How did he do it..." he mumbled, rolling onto a shoulder to stare at the wall. There was no way that little bit of information could have given him what he needed to remember. And the fact that the man had been in the middle of one of the worst headaches Shinomu had ever caused made it even harder to believe. Really, though, it was more than just being stubborn. It had to be. And yet, he was fairly certain the man hadn't used a genjutsu. Those didn't work on his particular issue. Not that anyone had ever been able to tell him what his issue was or why it had happened in the first place. From all accounts, it had started when he was three years old. And suddenly, inexplicably, people had started to forget him. His parents, his friends, his teachers, his neighbors. Then strangers on the street, merchants, store owners, waiters. And suddenly he was a ghost in the world. Shinomu existed without being acknowledged. And, until today, that had been the law "How the hell had he done it..." If Shinomu could figure it out, if the man could tell him...he might never have to see his father cry again. Or see his mother's sunken eyes when she couldn't remember all those things that a mother remembers when their child is growing up. Shinomu had recorded the loss of his first tooth himself. The first time he'd come home with a bruise. His mother couldn't remember the first time he'd said 'mama'.

But could Shinomu bring himself to deal with that man? He thought I was doing it on purpose. his mouth twisted in anger at the thought but he couldn't hold the anger. If he could get the man to explain, to tell him how he'd done it, then he'd take anything that guy threw at him. It was worth it. Living 15yrs as a figment or a passing thought. He was sick of it. Sitting up, Shinomu grabbed the side of a sheet and rolled over until he looked like a caterpillar or a burrito. And then, he fell asleep. | ⇣

"… Cat, what?" Kagerou stopped a few steps away from the still feline. It was the first words she said since leaving the statue of herself.

Kagerou had, strangely enough, come in the ascending direction rather than the descending direction. That is to say, rather than walking up the tree to get to her room, she had been walking down it. It was too late to be trying to walk all the way up to her room, much like it had been too late to stop by the crafting collective again to buy some supplies for the long day tomorrow, so Kagerou had compromised by taking the elevator a few floors too high and then walking down the rest of the way, enjoying the cool night breeze and the bird's eye view of the village.

It was time to relax. It was more time to cool down and reflect on the events of today, and how she wanted to move on from it all because tomorrow, she was going to find herself in an island isolated in fear. She didn't want to bury her feelings, but unless she sorted them now, tonight, then there was a high chance that she'd need to do just that.

As on added bonus, on her way down, Kagerou had paid a visit to her parent's room to apologize for her earlier misbehavior. Strangely enough, no one was in. Kagerou had been expecting her dad at least, but she had a plan b. She slipped a written apology, which she had written as neatly as possible on the ferry ride back to the Sero, into the crack of their door.

The cat, white fur seeming to glow with the meager light provided by night, flicked ear and tail as it turned to stare at Kagerou with wide pupils. A soft meow and it returned to staring at the door.

"… Cat, why?" was the obvious follow-up. To be honest, as much as a part of Kagerou figured this cat was hers, the more logical side couldn't think of why the feline would stick next to her. However, here it was, staring expectantly at the door like it was his home. She had to admire the cat's ability to adapt, though. While Kagerou had quickly accepted this new apartment as her home, she knew that not many were able to think as such so soon.

The cat meowed again, a little more impatiently.

It couldn't be helped. A small chuckle escaped Kagerou, "Hmph. Fine fine. Let's go." She opened the door as the cat wanted, and softly, she greeted the dark, empty living room, "I'm home," taking care to not wake a possibly sleeping Shadow. Her bells, which had been jingling merrily, were muted, grabbed firmly in the palm of her hand.

The yet unnamed cat slinked between Kagerou's legs, traversing the unlit interior with all the confidence granted by its night vision.

The entire apartment was dark. Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse. Even the cat seemed to have settled down in a choice spot rather quickly. In the unfamiliar apartment, it took Kagerou some time to flubber around for the light switch, but she found it eventually and flicked on the lights she needed to see. Her eyes blinked a few times, adjusting to the sudden change, and when she was ready, she quietly closed the door behind her.

The room was a little lived in, but otherwise, it hardly looked like anyone had even gone in since Kagerou left it late in the afternoon this same day. Then again, Kagerou couldn't see her cat, so it was completely possible that maybe she just couldn't see where someone else had touched the place, Scratching a cheek, she took an educated guess and checked both bathrooms. One was unused. The other looked a little wet, and there was a white towel in the laundry basket. The white color was important because it was really easy to see the black fur that had been rubbed off. Kagerou figured, appeased with the small proof that Shadow had indeed returned for at least a little bit.

After sort of confirming that Shadow was in the apartment, Kagerou started unpacking. First, she dropped the clothes she had borrowed from Takeda into the laundry basket. Then it was to her room to finish unpacking as well as cleaning up the mess she remembered making on her bed.

She opened the door to her room, and more out of exasperation than surprise, Kagerou bluntly dropped the backpack she held in one hand. There was a single ring from her bells before they were grabbed once more, just as they had been the whole time Kagerou was walking around the apartment. she thought with a flat smile. Her pile of candy and toys had grown bigger. No, it couldn't even be just candy and toys now. Now, there were dried plants, which she vaguely recognized as tobacco, and a decent stockpile of hardware, namely nails, mixed in. Also, some eyeballs that didn't look like eyes, appeared to be new additions,

Cleanup was going to take a bit more time than she thought. Although, she didn't seem to mind that much. Kagerou was still smiling. However, before cleaning up the now more complicated mess, Kagerou was going to take a look at something new. The one thing in the apartment that had changed, besides the bathroom being recently used. Walking away from her mess of a room without bothering to close the door, Kagerou stopped in front of a new door. It wasn't Shadow's door. The name on the name plate was unfamiliar and Shadow had his own door. As softly as possible while still being audible if anyone was on the other side, Kagerou knock knocked.

    There was no response.

    Knock knock.

    Nuh-uh.

One more set of knocks, this time, accompanied by Kagerou asking quietly, "Um... Excuse me. I'm Kagerou, your squad mate. Could I talk to you for a little bit? It's about a mission."

Crickets could be heard chirping. Well, one cricket and then there was a barely audible, "flump," followed by equally quiet crunching sounds and the chirping was gone. Some might say the cricket was... dead silent.

Kagerou thought logically, then, whether it was because of the nightmare, the shippening, or both, the illogical thought was quick to follow, She found her own joke funny, and she smiled because of that as well.

User Image Kagerou reasoned, and right on cue, she felt a yawn bubbling up. She let it loose, covering her mouth with a hand, which then raised up to rub an eye,

Stretching herself out to get fresh blood into her limbs, Kagerou walked to start on her many tasks before bed. She started by cleaning her room, dividing her loot into plastic bags she found in the kitchen, one bag for each different item that numbered more than five. Anything with less than five she just put away into her hip pouch, thigh pouch, or a single-strap backpack she was going to wear during the mission tomorrow. Also placed into her various bags were three of each unknown item. She still didn't know what they did, so while it could very be a waste of space to carry even a few of them, she still wanted to have some on hand in case she ever got the chance to use them or ever ran into a situation so desperate that a lucky break from an unknown item could help her.

The plastic bags were lined neatly under Kagerou's bed. The bags Kagerou was going to take with her on the mission were lined at the head of her bed, right beside her pillow. While she was at it, she also set out her clothes for the day after and pulled out her pajamas, the latter of which she took to the bathroom.

There was no way Kagerou was going into her clean bed without washing off the sweat and grime from her day. However, it was late, so Kagerou wasted no time in washing herself. Shampoo then conditioner and lastly soap. Lather what she needed in, rinse, repeat with the next step. Her now short hair proved to be a boon in hastening the shower. Washing her hair used to take several minutes to lather and several more to rinse. Now, it barely took a minute to clean what was left. Drying the hair was even easier. Of course, none of that made her feel much better about her loss.

Kagerou finished showering, dried herself, changed into her pajamas, and handled other bathroom business, such as brushing her teeth. Then she stepped back into her room, clean and refreshed. Her pajamas were standard fare. A white tank top and a comfy pair of gray shorts. A glance at the clock told her that she should go to sleep, but ignoring her own advice to get plenty of rest, she decided,

Kagerou took Kumotake's notebook out of her bag, and fell back into her bed. She studied the notebook casually, not bothering to take notes or even focus too much on memorizing everything she read. She was lucky. She'd always had a good head for studying, so even without putting much effort in, she learned easily and, just as importantly, remembered a lot of what she learned.

Kagerou wanted to finish reading the notebook in one sitting. Kumotake had sounded like he wanted it back sooner rather than later. However, such a feat was easier said than done. After a certain point, Kagerou had to concede and, putting the notebook down cover up on her desk, she turned off the lights in her room in preparation to sleep. To the bathroom first, though. Then, when she re-entered her dark room, a glow from her desk caught her eye.

The ninja in Kagerou narrowed her eyes. After identifying that the glow came from the notebook she had just been holding, Kagerou approached the mysterious glowing book and picked it up. Eyes were drawn upon the cover, creepy if they weren't drawn with such childish strokes. They kind of looked like something an 11 year old would draw to be cool. Below the eyes and white marks that looked like they were meant to be a spider web stood a stick human and a stick spider. The word "diary" could barely be made out at the top through all the clutter. There was a simple, "Oh," as Kagerou realized the secret identity of what she held.

Curiosity beckoned with open arms. The notebook had been given to her, after all. Albeit, with hesitation masked by awkwardness, something Kagerou only recognized now. She ran a hand against the worn cover, only fully understanding now how old this book with a childish drawing must have been and why Kumotake had been in such a rush to have it back. Kagerou weighed the two sides of to read or to not. However, it was late, and she could not remember so clearly words and gestures that she had attributed no unusual importance to. In lieu of these conditions, she had no choice but to push back her decision to,

True to her word, Kagerou took the notes with her to bed after she closed the door to her room for the night. She stashed the diary away not just beneath her pillow but beneath her pillow and inside the pillow sheets. It wasn't a foolproof location, and the book actually ended up risking more damage inside the pillow sheets than simply below them. However, she could think of nowhere safer within reason.

Head guarding who knew what kinds of personal information on Kumotake, Kagerou let her mind recap on the days' events. She reflected on the morning amidst illusions in the Mizukage's office, her afternoon traipse through nightmares, and finally her evening of rosy desires. So much had happened, and there was so little time before the veil of sleep shrouded her. That was okay, though. After all, that was why Kagerou reflected in small intervals over the waking day. Really, what worried Kagerou the most were the dreams she was going to have tonight. The Sero had hit hard. Today, while not as objectively bad, felt like it was going to be even worse for her dreams. However, in usual Kagerou fashion, she accepted even this outcome, as she drifted peacefully into sleep.

Kagerou made it to her grandparents' room in good time.

"Grandmother. Grandfather. Kagerou is here," Kagerou greeted respectfully from the other side of the door as she knocked.

Soundlessly, the door opened. Standing on the other side was the gracefully aged face of Kagerou's grandmother. Her figure was slim and her hair arranged casually but neatly. Donning a traditional kimono, the elderly lady struck an impressive sight, and when this impressive sight saw that her grandaughter also wore a kimono, something unusual for the younger lass, there was a intrigued raise of the an eyebrow but no words. As some might expect from a family that had served as ninjas for generations, they knew better than to pry. It might have something to do with work after all.

"Thank you for having me," Kagerou gave a customary line as she stepped in, her voice going soft under the strict gaze of her grandmother,

"You are late," Kagerou's grandmother spoke as she closed the door.

Kagerou didn't need the exact question to know that she was supposed to answer, "I had to report to the office when your message reached me."

Leading Kagerou through the apartment to her room, the grandmother let it be known, "I see, the message was sent out several hours ago." Her words were purely for information. She wasn't accusing Kagerou of any sort of negligence by mentioning the time, and the lack of such intent became clear in her following words, "You must have been busy. Unfortunately, you will not be able to rest yet. Your grandfather and I have something you need to do."

Kagerou had to wonder as she entered her grandparents' bedroom closely behind her grandmother. She didn't know what it was that her grandmother could be talking about. Nothing came to mind, at least, as she sat down after her grandmother. Her grandfather was present and already seated. Besides him, the grandmother sat, and Kagerou knelt in front of these two.

A heavy pause lingered in the air as the grandparents surveyed Kagerou with interest. To them, she was acting strangely. Their presence always encouraged in Kagerou a modicum of formality and respect. However, that did not stop her from smiling or otherwise showing that she was relaxed and comfortable even in the presence of the stricter side of her family. The Kagerou now, though, acted too stiffly, and not a single trace of a smile could be seen on her face. It appeared something was eating at her.

It was too bad that now there was no time to delve into such strange behavior. Alas, that was the life of a soldier.

Cutting straight to the point, so straight that it was a wonder they couldn't just tell Kagerou this at the door, Kagerou's grandfather let Kagerou know, "We've signed you up for the Chuunin exams."

"HUE?!" Ah, there was the usual Kagerou. The exams, she remembered it being mentioned by the newly appointed Mizukage just before. However, it had slipped her mind by the time she had arrived at her grandparents'. If the time for filling out the leave forms had already come, Kagerou figured it was too late to sign up already. A missed opportunity, but after reflecting on her most recent failure, Kagerou decided that she probably wasn't ready anyways. Although, if it was too late to sign up, then it did bring up the question of why it was assumed she would leave for the exams. Now, to her great and utter shock, it appeared she had been signed up for it without her knowledge.

    "Wha-wha-but," Kagerou stuttered.

Time was of the essence, and this the grandfather made clear, "You are late for the exams as it is."

"Am I?!" a short interjection by our bewildered kunoichi.

It was an unacknowledged interjection as her grandfather continued without pause, "Hurry, now. The arrangements have been made. You simply need to go to the gates and fill out the leave forms."

Weakly, Kagerou tried to refuse, "Wait, but… Report… in writing…"

"Kagerou…" was all that had to be said by the grandmother.

Refusing was never easy with her mother's parents', and with not another word, Kagerou found herself demurely agreeing, "Yes."

What followed were minor details regarding the trip and the instructions that the examiners sent to Kagerou, relayed by Kagerou's grandparents. Once the final touches were arranged, Kagerou left the apartment as politely as she entered.

After that, there was still a lot of time before she could actually leave the village. However, that was all spent rather uninterestingly. In her room, Kagerou redressed herself in a more comfortable outfit, wrote out and sent a thorough and lengthy report of every last detail Kagerou could squeeze out of her mind on the happenings on Lonely Island, and finally she put on the rest of her equipment. Bearing in mind that she was late enough even before having to write the report, Kagerou left without further ado once she was ready.

The responsible thing to do would have been to report directly to the Mizukage upon return.

    Kagerou was usually responsible.

    Just not now.

Now, she tested the door to her old apartment, found that it still opened for her, and proceeded to beeline for her bed after ensuring that the door was securely closed behind her. In her defense, the sun had already begun to set. With only a few hours of daylight left and the knowledge that any important information would have been delivered by the proctors, it wasn't terrible for Kagerou to assume that reporting in to the main office could wait until tomorrow. Kagerou's beeline got as far as the door to her room, where she conked her head against the wood and held out for just a little longer. She grabbed a fresh change of clothes--pajamas, to be exact--and took a shower. She brushed her teeth. Flossed, too. Then, and only then, did she beeline completely to her bed and plonk into it. She vaguely considered closing the door to her bedroom. Then remembered that it probably didn't matter… unless she got a new squad… so it probably didn't matter.

She didn't really get to finish that thought before falling asleep, pulling the covers over her and cuddling into the comfort of her slowly warming bed.

When Kagerou awoke, the sun hadn't even risen yet. However, she'd already slept too much to go return to her dreams. Plus, also kept her up. Kagerou rose with a great and mighty yawn. Was there even any food? Kagerou remembered. She rubbed the rest of her sleep off her face and went through her usual morning preparations in the pre-dawn dark: pick out clothes, wash her face, brush her hair (while regretting that she had cut it so short), and change. While she was at it, Kagerou ignored the grumblings of her stomach to also put the clothes she wore on her chuunin exam journey into the laundry with her pajamas. She started the laundry machine and, decked in a warm sweater, set about making something to eat. In the meantime, she started chewing on a candy she had found in her belongings in a sort of half-awake daze, not recognizing that the candy in question was a cockroach-shaped chocolate bar that she had found in the wake of the extremely dangerous nightmare.

It happened as Kagerou reached into a just open cupboard to fish out the cereal. She'd swallowed the chocolate a few seconds ago, and now she felt a creepy-crawly sensation all across her skin, like so many little things crawling all over her skin. Her mind, not so attentive just a moment ago, immediately made the connection with the cockroach chocolate she ate, and as quickly as she could without making a rush, she put the cereal she had just grabbed onto the counter and leaped back, hands vigorously rubbing across her skin to try and swipe the roaches of. Except, she felt no swarm of six-legged pests. She didn't feel her own skin, either. Instead, her fingers ran over some smooth, hard shell. Carapace? Armor? Her eyes followed soon after the hands and in the light shining from the kitchen ceiling, Kagerou verified that what she was touching was, indeed, armor. It was a brown armor, shiny and, if one were to make the obvious connection, reminiscent of a cockroach's exoskeleton. Now that the initial shock was starting to recede, Kagerou also noticed another change: the strong taste of chocolate in her mouth. No matter how hard she licked away or how much she swallowed, the taste remained, almost as if the very inside of her mouth tasted like chocolate. Experimentally, after managing to push her armor just enough to expose some skin on her wrist, she licked a bit of exposed skin. Somehow, Kagerou managed to recognize the taste of chocolate on an already chocolatey tongue. Of course, the next logical step was to try and eat the armor, and after some hesitant nibbling, Kagerou could say that the armor was, in fact, not edible. It did not taste like chocolate, nor could Kagerou make any sort of dent into it no matter how hard she tried, be it with teeth, fist, or kitchen knife.

Kagerou summed up her thoughts, now in the bathroom to get a good view of her new self and attire after having confirmed that she could not take off the armor. She had half expected her face to be the color of chocolate, but it was not. The expectation of her armor's design being cockroach-like was not misplaced, though. Then again, she could also see how maybe she was thinking of it too much. The only obvious cockroach-like aspect, aside from color, were the two antennae-like decorations extending from the head.

Even then, though, Kagerou had to ask, . Ultimately, the question was rhetorical. After a few more moments of luxurious self-pity, Kagerou returned to filling her stomach, and in the process of the rest of the morning preparations learned how to maneuver the suit to make it so that she could carry on with her day even if complete removal was out of the question. Unable to do anything else about it, Kagerou just held on to the hope that the armor had a set duration and sat at her desk after her morning preparations were done.

By the time Kagerou had accustomed herself to the armor and was ready to really get started with her day, the sun had just started to peek past the horizon. It'd be a few more hours before the village's day would start. In that time, Kagerou was determined to catch up on some much needed reading. She still had to finish copying down the notes Kumotake wrote about Kikaichu, and knowing the other secrets the book held only hastened the urgency Kagerou felt to finish the task.

She read and wrote and summarized for the rest of the morning, pacing herself with five minute breaks every hour. It was noon, and time for lunch, by the time Kagerou finished. The armor, in the meantime, had remained. Rather than worrying more about it the longer it stayed on, Kagerou seemed to be more accepting of it as time passed. She'd already begun thinking that it was oddly fitting to insect-inspired armor while studying insects. Stretching, she mulled, The sun streaming through the window felt warm on Kagerou's face, and she was very tempted to doze for a bit; the armor was surprisingly comfy. Having woken up so early, she was starting to already feel sleepy. Having settled a few other matters, mainly greeting family to let them know of her return, while studying the kikaichu only made a small nap even more well-earned.

However, that wouldn't be right. Kagerou gave herself a smart slap on both cheeks. It hadn't even been by her own efforts that she had finished greeting her parents and grandparents. Her dad happened to visit and, after a hearty laugh from seeing her awkward armor and the story behidn it, told Kagerou to not worry about telling her grandparents she had come back. He would handle it. While grateful, Kagerou couldn't help but feel that her dad had an ulterior motive for the offer, probably to make jokes at her expense.

Rubbing her stinging cheeks, her own handiwork, Kagerou went straight outside with everything she would need, including Kumotake's notebook, packed away. She would get something to eat as a reward for the next few things she was obligated to do, regardless of what kind of silly armor she had on because of her own folly.

Kumotake himself would be in the process of removing his sweatshirt only after having tossed the notebook from his back pocket unto his bed which was looked upon with disgust just moments before. Sukoso still trying to fit the contents in the cabinet would finally inquire as himself and his host were finally alone with one another. "So what do you intend to do to help Rourou and Red Kuku?" When Kumotake did not respond with a raised abdomen of anger the spider reaffirmed his existence "KUKU I'M TALKING TO YOU!" Again he would recieve no response from Kumotake but instead hear what could be the sound of metal gleaning across wood. It was at this point the spiders anger switched to dread as its hairs and abdomen both fell.

Sukoso would turn to see Kumotake having drawn a kunai. Something of which the spider had sworn he'd all hidden. Kumotake breathing heavily with widely dilated pupils in a cold sweat. There was a distinctive reason why Kumotake's arsenal consisted primarily of either pointed or blunt artillery as when he was in this kind of state anything with an edge proved beyond dangerous. "I'...I'll help..them..with.. with this..Su..su..Sukoso." "Kuku drop! Now!" "I..It's..m..MY BODY...Su..Sukoso...w..what...b.b.bbetter...way to..hh.help than...w.with pppproviding a ddoctor wwith a ppatient."

Irately a straight line of web launched forward from Sukoso's mouth to connect with and disarm the kunai from Kumotake's trembling hands. However, Kumotake's eyes sharpened as if in a feat of instinct alone would grab the webbing with his free hand preventing it from reaching its goal and making it fall limp forcing Sukoso to cut the line and already working towards the next. "Even if you do have you forgotten WE won't let you die!" "Then I'll just have to make sure that none of YOU are inside!"Before Sukoso could let loose another grappling web Kumotake's attitude switched from a submissive to aggressive eyes filled with determination...or maybe a better word for it was delirium. In an instant Sukoso would find himself being weighed down by the entirety of Kumotake's Kikaichu an easy feat due to his current size.

Sukoso wouldn't be able to stop Kumotake. His Kikaichu wouldn't be able to perform maintenance on his body until they returned. Sukoso was helpless again as he had been many times before in similar situations. Sukoso feared the worst of his host going all the way as always. In Kumotake's head he would not fail. He would help Kagerou and the Yamanaka at his own expense. He'd help them where he failed to help Shadow, He'd help them were he failed to help Jack, He'd help them where he failed to help Kaede! He'd help them where he failed to help...himself.

With the blades edge a light thin cut starting from the upper left of his barren chest down to the hip. There was no need to start big as the blood trailed down the self inflicted wound with Kumotake's eyes rolling into the back of his head both in pain and self-indulgence. This was the only way he could be of any use. Not missions he could never see himself doing. Not fights he could never win. Not answers to questions he didn't need. For now he'd let the wound bleed before preparing himself for another mayhaps slightly deeper cut whilst his companion struggled, trying to communicate with the Kikai that weighed him down. However, they were simple beings that followed simple commands, and Sukoso being a derivative of the Kikaichu himself lacked that authority.

The result was Sukoso freely able to manipulate it's size among three categories. Minuscule enough to retreat into Kumotake's body which was it's original form, slightly larger as a normal spider, and finally large enough to be ridden. It takes a full post to change in size, There's a cooldown of at least 1 full post, must be in physical contact.

The emblem of a jagged spider sewn on the backsides while the palms contain what appear to be the equivalent of small hole like pores. The gloves when worn treat the wearer's hands as if they were complex for interactions with ninjutsu. The gloves allow interaction with chakra structures and the pores on the gloves themselves can produce threading from each fingertip. The threading can then attach to structures allowing them to be manipulated by pulling them. These threads are not unlike chakra threads in strength but are clearly visible. When finger tips are brought together the produced threads can fuse into one leading to garrote wire like executions.

Somehow or other, Kagerou managed to locate Kumotake's address, and now she stood in front of his door, hoping that he was in. She had, admittedly, not planned ahead when she left Katsurou behind. With just the idea of seeing Kumotake, she could not say that she knew where exactly he was. All she knew was that he and Sukoso were going to stop by their room to drop off some things. If it was just dropping of magazines, then they could have already gone in and out of the apartment before Kagerou arrived.

she drew a logical line to prevent any wild goose chases from beginning,

Plan set, Kagerou knocked on the door. "Hello?" she greeted politely, "This is Kagerou. Kumotake, Sukoso, are you in?". [7/20 cockroach armor]

    • Calamity Performance - Kagerou can perform offensive eiseijutsu through her performance/instrument as if it was ninjutsu of the same rank. When performing offensive medical techniques, she can target anyone who can hear her music with the jutsu. I.e. she no longer has to be within touch range of the target to use killing hands. Harmful eiseijutsu cast in this manner is guaranteed to hit as long as the condition of sound is met, but it takes one post to manifest its effects. In that time, the technique can be nullified by matching the energy (chakra/stamina/whatever else) cost Kagerou paid to use the entire jutsu, including any extra costs for additions/modifications. Those afflicted by harmful eiseijutsu cast in this manner become aware that if they do not spend the required amount of chakra/stamina, then bad things will happen to their body. The target(s) will have a vague sense of how bad the damage will be, but do not know what exactly will happen.

Dream Audience - Kagerou's dream is to help as many as she could. From this desire, the dream world manifested the power to multiply the recipients of all of her eiseijutsu techniques. With neither extra effort nor decrease in power, Kagerou can affect two extra targets for each eiseijutsu activation as long as they fulfill the requirements to be a target (i.e. contact for most eiseijutsu by default or sound when Kagerou performs eiseijutsu). Past the starting two, she must spend a total of 5(n-3)+10 energy split evenly between chakra and stamina for each additional target; n = number of targets. Odd energy costs are split with 1 more point of stamina than chakra. This additional cost cannot be reduced or refunded.

The Good Host - 1/2 off all implant chakra requirements.

Mind and Body I - A sound soul resides in a sound mind and a sound body. To ensure the health of all three, Kagerou must master every aspect of medicine. Kagerou gains an additional medical field type. The additional type needs to be trained separately from the first.

Mind and Body II - A sound soul resides in a sound mind and a sound body.
