(Characters involved: Leon, Sub, Freth, Odd, Terashi, and Beau.)

Yes! It was working! Mummified Griswold, servant to the great Coffin Pokemon, would soon claim this mortal for his new master's army as well and then they'll be able to reclaim what his master lost. The butterfly man's body wasn't responding despite his consciousnesses resisting his Hypnosis but it mattered not, soon the bandages would make it past the waste and up the arms and there would be no turning back. It was over for this hybrid.

"...tomb?" The possessed Griswold muttered as he looked up at Beauregard with a shocked expression, the eyes on its bandaged head literally spinning around towards the back to face the new arrival that was Terashi, looking at him briefly before facing back towards the front and looking down to see the blade of Psychic energy piercing its chest cavity. Fool, it didn't harm his spiritual form inside, simply pierced the bandages and so he would be next! Or so it thought.

This brief moment of distraction was all Beau needed to let loose one last puff of Powder and ignite it with his lighter, causing the Powder to explode violently, vaporizing the bandages that captured Griswold and sent his freed Odd Keystone flying. Due to his proximity Terashi would also be caught in the blast but would be nowhere near as bad of shape as Beau would certainly be. Regardless the last of the mummy horde was defeated and without its minions the Cofagrigus would soon fall as well.

Back with Cofagrigus Angeal was busy slashing away at the unraveling spectral entity with Night Slash, causing the ghoul immense pain and for awhile preventing it from retaliating, that was until it found some strength in it and lashed out with an Astonish punch to get the attacker off of it.

As soon as Angeal was knocked off Leon came in atop his Pyroar and delivered an explosive Flamethrower against the blindsided Ghost followed up by a Crunch attack on the very same fist that just punched Angeal, the Cofagrigus wailing in pain in response. Its pain would not end there though as Beat and his Shadow Bone minions unleashed a barrage of Ghost empowered attacks against it. With so many assaults coming at it from all around the Cofagrigus didn't know which way to turn.

It was in that moment when Absol rushed in, dodging the Ghost's own attacks as well as those of its allies. The Disaster Pokemon would find its opening and pounce on the body of the Cofagrigus and digging its Foul Play empowered claws into it, the ghost being attacked by its very own strength. Before it thought to get the Dark type off of it the Absol removed its self voluntarily, much to its relief in that moment but soon enough it would realize it would be anything but relief as Freth come flying straight for the wounded area Absol left behind.

The female Articuno hybrid would drive her Dark type Frustration empowered fist right through the torso of the Coffin Pokemon with explosive might, the hybrid herself passing right through the gaping hole she would leave behind with her attack. As she hit the ground on the other side the giant Cofagrigus would look down to see the giant hole in its once mighty form, Freth's punch having vaporize roughly a third of its entire body in one blow. Its hateful gaze would turn towards Freth, intent to enact revenge but destiny had other plans.

Wounded heavily and its strength greatly diminished Odd was able to hasten the sealing of the Cofagrigus as now its ghostly form began to rapidly unravel and become drawn into the Odd Keystone, the ghost flailing around and letting out a chilling wail as it resisted in vain. Before long it was reduced to nothing but a pair of glowing disembodied eyes, full of hate and contempt, the last thing the Snagems would see before those two were drawn into Odd's Odd Keystone and it was sealed in its entirety. The ancient Ghost Pokemon was defeated.

"Nevermore! Nevermore!" The Murkrow still on Freth's shoulder squawked, as if laughing at the fate of the Cofagrigus, its signature 'phrase' somehow fitting in the moment.

Meanwhile her trainer was at the other side of the area where Beauregard had just vaporized the last mummy, the Dark One walking over to pick up Griswold's Odd Keystone before making his way over to the freshly charred Beau to check on him. "Beau? You still alive?" He asked, only somewhat teasingly.

(Characters involved: Blizzard, Ulla, Rhyme, Veronica, Wren, Reno, Tristen, and Arkelos.)

Blizzard's 'desperate' Ancient Power would largely go off as intended, the explosive ice destroying the shadowy chains which connected his prison to the Shadow Rhydon below and thus denying the shadow beast its source of energy. While Blizzard was no longer being drained of his strength he would notice it did not remove the Shadow Hold around him, it still must have had enough energy left in it to keep him captive.

That was when Lycanroc came bounding up towards the hybrid, using summoned rocks as steps to close the gap between them. On his back was Ulla, the young Fairy Channeler calling out to the Articuno hybrid. Using her same abilities which she used in the Fairy Realm to bind Shadow Magearna's Soul Heart, Ulla sent into Blizzard's prison of her pink 'bubbles'. The bubble of Fairy energy would rapidly expand from the inside, having no physical affect on Blizzard. It would continue to expand until it filled the entire confines of the Shadow Hold prison and continue to try and expand further, one force pushing against the other. The Shadow Hold would strain under the expanding bubble and while it was weakening it at first didn't seem to budge.

It was then when Veronica's Lucario jumped up and pounced on the prison. Using its Aura sight Lucario would find the weakest point in the Shadow Hold and with the power of Aura would deliver a sharp blow to this point causing the entire prison to shatter under the expand force of the Fairy Bubble inside, finally freeing Blizzard from its confines with Ulla there on scene to heal the hybrid back to health.

With Veronica and Rhyme beaten up by the former's out-of-control and freshly Shadowfied Zoroark and Reno somewhere cowering behind a rock pillar made earlier to avoid the explosive impact of Blizzard's Ancient Power, that left just the Articuno hybrid, the little Fairy Channeler healing him, the son of the legendary hybrid Tristen, and alpha dog hybrid Arkelos to do anything about the somewhat rejuvenated Shadow Rhydon as it began to stagger back up onto its feet. It was denied any more energy from Blizzard and thanks to Wren seeking out and destroying the machines below it wouldn't be able to pull off anymore of that Shadow Hold business.

However Shadow Pokemon were a determined 'breed', especially ones as mutated as this one. It would never stop, even if it meant harming or even killing its self, it simply could no stop its rampage unless forced to. They needed to put this thing down once and for all and this was their best opportunity to end this, the beast vulnerable for now but soon, as they could sense, it would return its Hyper Mode and they would be back where they started only this time it would absolutely mean death for the unfortunate Rhydon.

Predictably, I got knocked back by that blast, and landed on my back. When I got back up, Confagrigus and Griswold were gone, as was the left sleeve of my Academy shirt, exposing the modest muscle underneath as well a a few first-degree burns. I'd be fine in the end, but could the same be said of Beau?

"If he is, he's in desperate need of medical attention," I said sternly, not entirely approving of his kamikaze attack despite the results it inevitably procured. "I wish I could have Rala teleport him to Doc Owl, but we're too close to the tower to do so. Besides, Ein would probably pick up on any teleportation outside the range of his scramblers, anyhow, and Ein doesn't need to know that we're not inside with the rest of the team at any rate."
PostPosted: Sat Aug 17, 2019 12:48 pm
Freth crashed through the ghost Pokemon as she punched with all her might, making her way out the other side. With a flip in mid air and a skid on the ground, she successfully landed on her feet then quickly looked back at what havoc she wrought upon the Confagrigus. For a second, it looked like the Pokemon was going to retaliate still despite the extensive damage it had taken from the Snagem onslaught, but it finally was put down thanks to Odd. She sighed with relief, and though she didn't necessarily take any damage, she was a bit winded. The pressure, the constant state of high awareness, pushing herself further and further beyond her limits could take a rather taxing mental toll.

Her Absol trotted up towards Freth. Freth leaned over and started to pet the Absol. "You did real good today. Couldn't have done it without you."

"Absol." It spoke up rather cheerfully itself.

"This isn't over though...we still got to make it inside and after Ein. I kind of wonder how everyone else is doing..."

-----------------

"OH COME ON! THIS JUST ISN'T MY DAY!" I shouted. After the Ancientpower after desperation to sever the connection, while aforementioned connection was taken out and thus I wasn't sucked dry like a smoothie, I was still trapped in the Shadow Hold much to my dismay. I then perked up, staring in confusion as I took notice around me. I looked back behind me, noticing the Lucario then eventually Ulla trying to get me out from where they were. I then noticed the cage of sorts started to strain under Ulla's ability only to eventually give way to the Lucario. "Oh thank God..." I sighed out sitting back in the bubble, washing away to the wave of relief from being tended back to fighting shape.

Tristen noticing what was happening back at the Shadow Hold finally got him back on track. He needed to get Weavile back, who was rubbing its head and a bit shaky after such a blow from earlier. He then perked up, noticing Rhyme. Injured. He was so worried about his father figure, he didn't think about the ones roughly 20 feet or less from him. Her Tyranitar, that scent, that demeanor. That...wasn't good.

Tristen rushed over, putting himself between Rhyme and the Tyrannitar...or rather, the Zoroark. Tristen's eyes narrowed. He knew he was a fool this entire time, he had to make up for it. Weavile was back on its feet, though not sure of how much of a fight it could put up after getting rocked by the Rhydon. While he was somewhat confident he could stop the Zoroark, he didn't think that same Pokemon could stand up to Rhydon by any means. His only other formerly Shadow Pokemon was Zebstrika and Magmar and all it would take out of the Rhydon is another massive quake that of what the Rhydon pulled earlier to put either one of them out of commission. Maybe...

"Weavile!" Tristen shouted. "Help Rhyme out! Rhyme, you give Weavile a plan to go with. She'll protect you." Of all the weird stunts, he knows, he's entrusting Weavile to Rhyme for the time being. Looking back at the Zoroark, he takes out another Pokeball. "Magmar!" He then called out, tossing out the Pokeball, releasing the Pokemon formerly owned by a Cipher Admin. With a flash, out came the walking inferno, ready to battle the Zoroark.

Keiko acted first, the Lopunny hybrid dashing forward and using her springy legs to bounce over the incoming Power Gem protected Electro Ball sphere. As she sailed over it an Aura Sphere fired off by Lykas' Clawitzer slammed into the Power Gem coating, the bunny girl not only hearing the hard impact but feeling the vibrations from it as she passed over. Once over the sphere of combined attacks she would come down on the 'Magniqueen' and slug it hard with a Frustration empowered punch followed by several more punches and kicks, landing on the ground each time and bounding back up to keep up the assault. The mutant Vespiquen was taken by surprise by the sudden attack however after a few punches and kicks it would retaliate by exploding a few miniature Magnemite drones against her to repel her away. However one problem was soon replaced by another.

But seconds after Keiko was pushed away Night came running up, the crazed Ninetales hybrid unleashing a barrage of Fire Blast at her, leaping up to replace where Keiko once was. The Vespiquen tried to shield herself with a Defend Order but her minimites were too few to make a proper shield and were destroyed after the first hit of Fire Blast, the subsequent ones slamming into the mutant queen as she let out a metallic buzzing cry of pain. In a desperate attempt to make it stop the queen would turn to face Night and unleash from her eyes a bright flash of Confuse Ray. This too would be a mistake.

As the queen gazed upon Night, and whether or not she was successful in making the mad hybrid stop, she would catch a glimpse of Keiko who was still in her line of sight after having repelled her. It was in that brief moment when Darts' Gengar rose up from behind Keiko and locked eyes with the magniqueen who quickly realized the repercussions of meeting its stare but even then she was too late. Gengar's hypnotic suggestions would prove too powerful for the already weakened mutated Beehive Pokemon, the queen quickly falling prey to said manipulates as she let out one last feeble buzz before simply falling to the ground unceremoniously. There the once hellish queen would slumber, her own exhaustion making sure her sleep was a deep one. She would bother them no more for now.

While the others took care of the queen two more Snagems focused on the attack still coming at them. Crystal and Aile would note that the earlier Aura Sphere was not in vein, the attack putting a track in the Power Gem outer layer of the sphere. Demon Wing would hurl Eisley with fierce strength directly for the crack in the Power Gem sphere, Eisley spiraling right for it. The Excadrill would Horn Drill right through the Power Gem with surprising ease, though surely aiming for its cracked surface and with Demon Wing's assistance it made that much easier.

With the Power Gem shattered in spectacular, and almost dazzling fashion, Demon Wing would unleash a powerful searing hot blast of fire with Blast Burn, the ball of near white-hot fire colliding with the exposed Electro Ball. Instantly, upon impact, the two attacks, along with the mutant Magnemite ready to explode inside, would create a massive explosion of electricity and fire, the explosion rocking the room they found themselves in. The Snagems were sparred the full force of the attack but some might be effected by the intense hit and sheer force of the tremendous explosion. After the explosion went off charred and defeated minimites would go flying all over the place, the last of the queen's forces dispatched.

After the dust settled from the explosion the room would go quiet, metal bodies of once loyal drones scattered around them slumbering queen. Its hive above was still sealed away by the Fairy Lock but a sharp Snagem might realize that eventually it would fade away and perhaps it should be dealt with for good. Same goes for the dreaming mutant queen. Regardless, their enemies were defeated and now the elevator going up was free to use. Now they just hoped the others activated the switches.

Darts wipes some condensation and dust off his crest with one gilt hand, his jacket flapping a little bit. The sounds of battle were ringing out from every direction the Snagems had gone and it made the Giratina hybrid wonder just how ready Ein had been for this siege... But there was no point in dwelling on it, they just were going to have to face off with whatever monstrosities he had in store for them.
PostPosted: Sun Aug 18, 2019 12:23 pm
Night stumbled back as she was hit with the full force of the Vespiquen's Confuse Ray. Fortunately, the confusion in combination with the queen's pressure ability being lifted, Night was able to gain control of herself once more. Shaking her head a few times to dispel the lingering effects of whatever that Pressure had done to her, the Ninetales hybrid turned and followed the others towards the elevator.

Once the Cofagrigus was defeated, there was still some poison gas coming from Leon's mouth as he covered it to control his breathing. Still new to this channeling thing, he had to focus on breathing techniques to keep the poison in his body tamed. While he did this, the Pyroar looked around to see that there was no longer any danger as he stretched his body and laid flat on the floor he was standing on. "Good job Pyroar." He said as he finally got his breathing under control as he got off to check on the other Snagems. Specifically the ones that were caught in that blast. They have seen better days. Especially Beau. He looked over at Ter. "I would say see if Rala could locate Ulla. That way she can heal you guys, but who knows what her state she is in right now. He said as he couldn't help but be concerned for his sister. What happens...if her group ran into Ein first?

----------------

While the little girl was falling, she watched as a Lucario that was not hers. Finally break Blizz out, she sighed of relief as she felt a sudden tug on her collar. It was her Lycanroc that jumped off of the rock he was on as he caught her with his teeth. He then tossed his trainer back at the rock as he jumped back as well. The child patted her Lycanroc as both of them watched their Lucario fight the Rhydon still. Ulla now realized there was no other way. They had to put it down. "...Let's make this quick. No Pokemon should have to suffer this sort of pain." She said as she stood up as her Artifact was glowing. "Lycanroc thank you, go back into your Pokeball for now." Lycanroc bowed as he went back to his Pokeball. Ulla then took out a different Pokeball as her Shiny Comfey popped out and rested around her master's pin Artifact. "Lucario distract it a little longer!" "Yes Master!" He shouted as Ulla started racing down the rock stairs.

Once at the bottom, she rested her hand on Comfy's head gently. "Ready?" The small fairy nodded. "Lucario move out of the way! Comfy use Grass Knot!" She shouted as Comfy started glowing as the ground under the Rhydon and Lucario started to shake. That was his signal to move as he jumped out of the ways as giant roots came out of the ground and started latching onto the Shadow Rhydon. Ulla watch as this happened, as she couldn't help but feel sorry for it. Her plan was was to restrain it down to the ground, if the others weren't able to finish it off...she would have Comfy buried it deep into the ground. Deep enough where nobody will be harmed and to be crushed by the ravel.

As Ryan's Brionne let out its battle cry, water energy meshing into the attack to bolster it a bit, the odd Goodra's chill would dissipate a bit. The water didn't seem to do much more than make it reach new heights of being an acidic goopy thing, until Abby's Stufful managed to freeze a sizeable chunk of it with her Ice Punch and ellicit a cry. The impact would also send a few globs of acid and goop, on course to strike Zwei thanks to some unlucky trajectory. An even louder, pained and almost demonic roar would come in response as it worked itself into ever more rage; enough to give a Regice chills and reconsider fighting, especially as further attacks from Leslie and her Porygon wracked upon its form.

The idea of having it all stop was no longer a concern. If it wasn't going to by means of trying to will it, it'd take the matter head on and stop caring about what became of itself afterward. To those means, a large, acidic glob of a Sludge Bomb would be flung along with a Flamethrower, the gout of flames quickly reaching to meet the attack ahead of it. With the room being on the smaller side, the ensuing explosion intended to catch as many of the perceived intruders as possible- with most of them so close to the Goodra, it'd be caught in it alongside.

"Really?! Undine, to my side!" Ryan says and waits until his Brionne is next to him. Ryan uses both of his hands to channel forth his Lapis Defense, his Water Wall, to shield himself and his pokemon from any harm of the explosion. "Now Undine, use your Icy Wind on the water!" he commands. His Brionne nods and uses the chilling attack to solidify the wall to up the level of defense even more.

In response to the questioning of his personal state, Beau decided to show off which of his fingers was the longest. Or his favorite. Or that showed that Sub was number one. He wasn't sure anymore, he was a little too concussed to really give a damn on accuracy. And so Beau waved his extended pointer finger in the air, doing his best to indicate his attitude.

----

Reno would look over his small piece of cover, examining the havoc and chaos that had been wreaked by Blizz's attempt to essentially devastate the landscape. So yeah, he didn't feel so bad about taking cover. But something was beginning to nag at him. He needed to take out this Shadow Rhydon with the others right this second, so they could be ready for whatever new hell came to greet them. Especially if it was shark-skinned and gigantic. So Reno began simply clicking open every one of his Pokeballs before shouting, "Tesei! Icicle Crash! And make it big!" Vaulting over the pillar, Reno would quickly transition from having a slight sheen to having an entire suit of slime armor, with his feet pushing off of the ground and his hands glowing pink with concentrated psionic energy in them. And as he drew closer to the Rhydon, there was an additional piece of equipment to his entire roster of Partner Pokemon as Tesei's gigantic icicle came streaking by for Reno to grab onto. Pumping a massive amount of energy into his leg repulsion, Reno and the icicle would be launched into the air before the psychic began to align the icicle for what he planned next. And once he had the Shadow Rhydon placed within what he predicted to be the right trajectory, Reno would flip himself over and once again push all of his psionic energy into a repulsion-empowered kick that sapped the power from all of his other talents to send this gigantic hunk of icy death hurtling at maximum speed towards the Shadow Rhydon in an effort to crush it.

----

Leslie would barely have a chance to react to the Goodra doing its best to commit a murder-suicide, simply managing to return her Porygon and do her best to make sure no one was behind her for what was about to happen. Which ended up being a massive explosion that Leslie reflexively guarded against with her Iron Defense. And whose concussive force sent her flying through Ryan's attempted defensive wall and possibly resulting in a massive bowling ball strike against Ryan and Brionne. Either way, she was going to be left almost back at the elevator with a required moment of reflection to prevent her from losing her lunch.

Requiem of Whyspers

Fashionable Shapeshifter

As Odd finally managed to fully seal the Cofagrigus, he heaved a heavy, exhausted sigh. They'd barely managed to breach the walls and already they had expended so much energy. Ein was absolutely, totally not prepared for them to bring the fight to his own turf. No way at all. "I won't be able to keep this thing sealed forever..." He groaned as the cracks in his Odd Keystone glittered with blue and gold light rather than the typical ominous purple. "Let's hurry up and either win or die before I find out how long it'll stay in there." He told the others, standing up and holding a hand over the still slowly dripping hole in his torso. "Also... Can we stop letting me get skewered? Just because it doesn't kill me doesn't mean it doesn't hurt like hell." He asked. The Purite in the walls of this area restricted his ability to absorb free Ghost energy so healing was going to take a while. Hopefully Ein had nothing that was actively tracking them by scent because the trail of ichor left behind him would lead straight to any group he was part of until he started healing properly.

He wasn't going to sit around and wait for that, though. Shambling, somewhat zombie-like, across the room, he stopped by Beau and Terashi to offer a hand to the scorched butterfly man. "No more trying to die today, please?" He asked the singed Bug hybrid. "I think I can and have done enough of that for all of us so far." With that said, he recalled Remix to his ball after assisting Beau to his feet and then tried to "lead the charge" toward the main lobby. He assumed everyone that wasn't here was heading that direction, after all so they should be able to find the rest of the team somewhere around there.

~~~
Wren was a bit surprised that his vines had successfully broken those machines with him not having an exact location to send them to but he wasn't going to question it. Never look a gift Mudsdale in the mouth, after all. Instead he reached for yet another Nest Ball at his waist and tossed it into the air. This needed to end. Now. "Caladium... Use Leaf Storm!" The tiny Fomantis appeared in a flash of light and, with a few whimsical whips of it's tiny scythe arms that were meant to be threatening, he whipped up a leaf-filled hurricane of Grass-type energy and bladed leaves. Instead of it getting weaker the longer it went on, however, Caladium seemed to be gaining more power and more control over it, refining the attack to focus on the immediate area surrounding Shadow Rhydon. With the ever-growing strength and control over the storm, he aimed to not only put down the earthen titan but to contain as much of it's toxic energy inside as possible.
"I thought so... Contrary is an incredible ability." Wren smirked as he watched his tiny orchid mantis work his magic.
"Oh, crap! Get out of the way, Fluffy!" Abby insisted as a combination of Sludge Bomb and Flamethrower rained down on the Normal-type, who refused to move and instead did its best to endure the attacks, not wanting to leave the short radius of range it needed to continue solidifying Goodra into an ice cube. Once the Poison-type and Fire-type attacks faded, Fluffy, charged toward the frozen dragon with another Ice Punch without bothering to wait for orders from Abby, who could only watch from the sidelines and worry about her unruly new Pokemon.
It didn't hurt as much anymore....but it stung like the son of a Mightyena. Rhyme tried to give Tristen a thumbs up that she was okay but the Ancientpower knocked her off her feet and onto the floor, tail poofed up in her shock. "Uh...got it!" Rhyme answered him back, so she thought. She hated the cards they were dealt. Hated what the implication was, but it was protecting her and protecting Tristen at the same time.
Rhyme didn't want to lose any friends. Not today, no way no sir no how.
"Help Ulla! Its in too much pain, it needs to be taken down as quickly as possible to keep it from hurting itself anymore." The Weavile looked at her oddly, as if knowing she didn't like saying that. "Lightning brings the thunder and the rain but Lightning also hurts. Sometimes we don't mean to hurt others but many will say there are some cases where we have no choice." She murmurs to it, touching the Pokemon's shoulder with her good hand.
The Grovyle attempted aide again with another attack to weaken it enough. It knew the Rhydon was too far gone--it knew what had to be done.
--------
Zwei just barely managed to get to his target, tugging on it with all of his strength. Weiss spots the bomb coming and barely manages to cast her Protect in time to defend her trainer, none of the acid thankfully coming to them and harming them. With the...whatever it was (lever? Switch? Zwei forgot the name), active...he calls out to everyone that he got it....
And thats when he saw the explosion coming. He recalled Weiss just seconds before it impacted, sent flying backwards and hitting the wall. The boy falls, head reeling, laying next to the device, dazed for the moment and unmoving.
Veronica blushed, the embarrassment and disappointment started to wash over her after she got back to her feet. It made her throat dry and clamp up, so instead of helping out some more she took the moment when the Ancient Power came around to move away from them and look for her other missing pokemon.
Veronica would finally catch up to her Lucario. With a glance at each other, they could tell it had been hell and it had only started. Veronica sighed apologetically and returned Havoc to her pokeball. The Lucario had earned a rest. It was a burden knowing she couldn't even take a mental break.
She sent out her Jellicent as she tried to clean her sweat off her forehead. Spirit was already well informed about the enemy and didn't hesitate to elevate forward to aim a proper shot as soon as Veronica ordered a Hydro Pump. Veronica decided to prepare a Detect herself in case it would become needed when their round of attacks were finished. At least, it would protect some of them from any blast or explosion the Rhydon might make and she felt as though she owed them that.
The area would be engulfed in a bright fireball from the earlier explosion, then dust as it kicked up everywhere, mixed with extra steam and sleet as it rocked Ryan's timely defenses. It was barely enough to suppress the attack enough to be defended against, but the Water Wall and its icy reinforcement would shatter and dissipate afterward. It didn't help much that Leslie had already made a hole in it when her own defenses still saw her go through it. As everything started to clear and allow the Snagems' vision to return, Abby would see her Stufful ultimately up attacking a pile of goop; the sacrifical attack was just that, and the Goodra's form wasn't able to withstand it. The weird object that allowed its propulsion was in similar disrepair, in far too many pieces to consider salvaging. Zwei would finally come into view a moment later, near the switch he'd activated before being caught out in the Goodra's attacks. Apart from the damages to the room and Snagems alike, it seemed like things were dealt with for the room.
Except for any potential future nightmares about weird acidic goopy things draping from the ceiling. Those might persist a bit.
