Theme Song of Rikka Takanashi
Rikka enters the dojo, hands folded behind her head. She seems to be mumbling nonsense to herself, "so many Taijutsu styles, so little time to learn all of them. I suppose I'll start with Hsing-I Pakua though. According to that scroll I'll be doing a bit of meditating to understand the five elements better and apply them when fighting. I’d like to get that boring crap out of the way," Rikka goes deeper into the dojo, ignoring everything else around her as she searches for a place to train in peace. She'd be meditating, so finding a quiet place would be important. Rikka eventually finds a nice quiet place in the corner and sits down, legs crossed, so she can begin meditating. She starts with the element of fire and thinks of the true essence of it. Bursting, exploding, dancing, never still. He feels as though by applying this concept when fighting his attacks can be faster.
Hsing-I Pakua - Fire: Bursting [Hou: Pao] 1/1 LEARNED
Rikka then thinks about the true essence of earth. Solid, firm, strong, yet active underneath. By applying this concept she could stand firm and stop or redirect attacks by people even larger than herself. This was something that would always come in handy considering she more a defensive fighter than an offensive one.
Hsing-I Pakua - Earth: Crossing [Tu: Heng] 1/1 LEARNED
Next was metal. Metal is Hard, decisive, and sharp. By applying this concept Rikka could give her techniques more power. Rikka was fine with that. More power was always a good thing.
Hsing-I Pakua - Metal: Splitting [Jin: Pi] 1/1 LEARNED
Rikka was almost done. The next element was water. Water is Flowing, formless, yet soft. When Rikka thought about it, nothing is softer than water. Applying this concept to a technique could increase its penetrating power, even giving her the ability to penetrate through armor. A valuable ability indeed.
Hsing-I Pakua - Water: Drillng [Shui: Zuan] 1/1 LEARNED
The final element was wood. The greater the branches, the deeper the roots right? Rikka thought on that some more and eventually came to a conclusion. Applying this concept to her combinations would enable her to increase the speed of that combination. A good thing to be able to do when speed is needed.
Hsing-I Pakua - Wood: Smothering [Mu: Beng] 1/1 LEARNED
Basic Training: Meditate COMPLETE
Hsing-I Pakua Stage 1 MASTERED
Rikka stands up from her spot on the floor, grateful she could now start learning how to actually fight. It was time to learn the first technique of Hsing-I Pakua. She takes a small step forward, compressing her body like a coiled snake. Rocketing her body forward while twisting his hips, he lets loose a quick punch forward just like a snake striking.
Hsing-I Pakua: Coiled Snake LEARNED
Next technique. This one was just a few kicks, but it might prove useful. Rikka sinks her body by bending her knees, while at the same time lifting a single knee about chest level. Shifting her hips forward in a pendulum motion, she quickly extends her leg in a powerful front kick, quickly followed by another kick by jumping forward with the back leg.
Hsing-I Pakua: Extending Rooster LEARNED
Rikka decides that the next few techniques would be a lot easier for him to perform with at least a training dummy to perform them on. So, she goes to stand before one and begins the next technique in the Hsing-I Pakua style. This one was quite simple. Rikka visualizes the dummy in front of him coming at him to attack. She scoots back to avoid the imaginary attack, then immediately bounces back in with a palm strike towards the dummy’s chest.
Hsing-I Pakua: Bear Withdrawing, Shocking, then Following 1/1 LEARNED
This would be the last technique in the second stage of the Hsing-I Pakua style. It was a greatly needed skill that would assist her in parrying her opponent’s attacks in the future. It consisted of one of her hands being brought up, like a bird looking at its wing, while at the same time putting the other hand down at the ground like a bird hovering over a kill. By turning her hips, he now had a defensive barrier in the form of his hands that would be able to parry most attacks. Not only that, but parrying attacks in this way would set her up perfectly to perform a counterattack.
Hsing-I Pakua: Phoenix Spanning and Turning 1/1 LEARNED
Hsing-I Pakua: Stage 2 MASTERED
Time to start the third stage of Hsing-I Pakua off with a powerful technique. This one would, hopefully, prove to be as useful as it was powerful. At least, it seemed pretty powerful to her. For a third stage taijutsu technique it did at least. But then the majority of the techniques in this style were useful. That’s why she liked it so much. Rikka started this technique by stepping forward and to the left, as if to dodge a pretend attack that hadn’t actually happened of course. She then grabbed the dummy’s right arm. If it was an actual person she was fighting then her hand would be enhanced with chakra to give her more grip, but this was just a dummy so that was unnecessary. In any case, upon grabbing the dummy’s arm she roughly shook it as if to keep an opponent off balance. This was followed by a short combo of about five quick, powerful punches which would end with a palm strike to the head.
Hsing-I Pakua: Snake Entrapping and Striking 1/1 LEARNED
With the one complex technique of the style out of the way, Rikka could move on to the more simple ones. Just because they were simple didn’t make them any less damaging though. In this next technique Rikka began by rotating her front foot out (her left since he is right handed), thus opening her hips. In this position she would shift her hips and unleash a powerful torqueing round house kick towards the leg of the dummy, as if to cripple or off-balance her opponent. Rikka then drove her elbow into the back of the dummy’s ‘head’ and finished off the technique by dropping the same elbow vertically into its ‘shoulder’, a move that would easily sweep a person off of their feet.
Hsing-I Pakua: Lion Sweeping and Chopping 1/1 LEARNED
Rikka thinks on the next technique and decides… she wouldn’t try it out. It sounded nice and all… but it didn’t seem particularly useful. Plus she’d look rather stupid doing it. Besides, it sounded pretty simple enough. The point of it apparently seemed to be that she would jump at an opponent – probably over her opponent’s own attack to ensure that it would connect – and perform a double knee strike into her opponent’s head or chest. She would continue down to the ground with her opponent and continue her assault there with punches to her opponent’s head, their arms trapped by Rikka’s legs and making them incapable of retaliating. Yeah, Rikka would definitely look stupid doing this to a dummy. It was simple enough, so now she could move on to more useful techniques that wouldn’t require as much luck. ‘Cause with this technique, it seemed like if she missed she would be out of luck and someone would easily be able to perform a counter attack.
Hsing-I Pakua: Phoenix Launching and Hunting 1/1 LEARNED
This technique was far more useful than the last, and Rikka couldn’t wait to try it out. Standing in front of the dummy she shifted her hips in its direction, it being her target of course. She then performed a heavy, powerful kick that would easily be able to collapse an opponent’s guard and compromise their frame. Rikka then skips the second part of this technique, since there was no guarding limb and no attacking weapon coming at her for her to get rid of. Instead she moves straight to the last part of this technique. This consisted of Rikka unleashing a quick, but vicious uppercut towards the dummy’s head/neck.
Hsing-I Pakua: Unicorn Charging and Goring 1/1 LEARNED
This was the final technique of the third stage of the Hsing-I Pakua style. In Rikka’s opinion it was pretty… underwhelming. She just… wasn’t a big fan of it or any grappling technique, which is what it appeared to her to be. Still, it might prove useful someday so it couldn’t hurt to try it out. Performing it on a dummy would be weird though. With this technique, Rikka would use her flexibility to wrap her limbs around an opponent’s neck, or even their own limbs. By doing this she acted as a python, constricting blood flow to make a fast choke out when wrapping around a neck. When trapping and immobilizing a limb she would leave her opponent defenseless and reduce their counterattack potential, even numbing the limb if she could hold them in this strangle for long enough.
Hsing-I Pakua: Python Wrapping and Constricting 1/1 LEARNED
Hsing-I Pakua: Stage 3 MASTERED
Now it was finally time to move onto the fourth, and for now final, stage of Hsing-I Pakua. Rikka had so far been pleasantly surprised with how useful this style seemed, and looking at the techniques for this stage she was happy to see that it only seemed to get better. This stage seemed to have more complex techniques than the previous stages, so Rikka decided she would focus on those more difficult techniques first before learning the simpler ones… uh, one. There was only one simple technique in this stage. Anyways, this next technique was incredibly useful. It was like a shunshin, except it could be used much more effectively in battle. Rikka steps back a few meters away from her training dummy and, taking a deep breath, manipulates the chakra inside her and coats her entire body with it. After doing this she moves with such speed that to onlookers she would seem to vanish as she rushes towards the training dummy. As she nears the dummy, a wave of dense chakra releases off of her and blasts against it, launching it away from her and into the wall.
Hsing-I Pakua: Rushing Spirit 3/3 LEARNED
The next technique was very useful. This would displace the chakra in Rikka’s enemies, causing their vision to go blurry. More importantly, it would also make muscle contraction and movement difficult for them for a full two minutes. This would make it much easier for her to connect with further attacks. The problem was Rikka didn’t have anyone to practice this technique on, because it’s not like she could just walk up to someone and ask them for their permission to screw around with their chakra. Looked like she’d have to practice on herself. Sighing, Rikka focuses chakra into the palm of her hand. She does this for a while until it feels just right and her hand is actually vibrating. “This feels right but I have to test it out so… well, here I go,” Rikka places the palm of her hand against her chest, and the effects were immediate. She felt her muscle’s contract. Her vision went blurry to the point she can barely see. It was painful, annoying, but also wonderful to know that it worked so well. Anyone Rikka used this on would experience the same effects and in the middle of a fight it would definitely work in his favor.
Hsing-I Pakua: Vibrating Palm 3/3 LEARNED
The last complex technique of the fourth stage of Hsing-I Pakua. It was a kind of grapple technique. While Rikka wasn’t exactly a huge fan of grappling techniques most of the time, this one definitely seemed like it would be incredibly useful. The effects were immediate, and deadly. Well, not exactly deadly, but it would definitely knock someone out. Walking up to the training dummy she had knocked down earlier, Rikka picks it up and steps behind it. Like with Rushing Spirit, she would manipulate her chakra and send it throughout her body. Instead of increasing her speed though, this would increase her strength. As strong as Rikka already was the extra strength felt kind of unnecessary, but she guessed it couldn’t hurt to make things easier on herself. With her enhanced strength, Rikka would wrap her arms around the dummy and, lifting it high over her head, would then turn just to spike it on its head in a very damaging drop. Ah… beautiful.
Hsing-I Pakua: Dragon Raising Then Crashing 3/3 LEARNED
Basic Training: Performance COMPLETE
The final technique in this stage of Hsing-I Pakua was simple, and quite straightforward. It was definitely useful though. Consisting of a barrage of punches, Rikka would put anyone on the defensive with this technique. As a specialist of Taijutsu, at least a few would always get through. Picking up the training dummy once again, Rikka stands in front of it and gets ready. She waits… and waits… and waits… then explodes into movement. Stepping up close to the training dummy, Rikka unleashes a massive array of about ten machine gun style punches to a single point on its body, actually cracking the straw dummy in the process.
Hsing-I Pakua: Rushing Rooster 2/2 LEARNED
Hsing-I Pakua: Stage 4 MASTERED
Rikka decides to move on to the next fighting style, wanting to get the first few stages of it out of the way. This style was known as Xinyi Liuhe Quan. The first technique in the style was a simple one. Rikka holds her hand out in front of her with the palm opened and sideways. From here, she executes a diagonal palm attack to connect with the shoulder of the training dummy.
Xinyi Liuhe Quan: Shishi Ashi [Lion Paw] 1/1 LEARNED
This technique was simple as well, but it was useful. Rikka could definitely see herself using it against an enemy sometime in the future. She quickly executes a volley of fast fists aimed at no particular part of the training dummy. She was simply trying to hit anywhere she could, and that was the point of the technique.
Xinyi Liuhe Quan: Tora no Kobushi [Tiger Fists] 1/1 LEARNED
Another simple technique. This one required careful aim and position, but Rikka was sure the payoff would be worth it. Crouching down she takes careful aim. Then, she leaps up and sends an uppercut into the jaw of the training dummy. An uppercut so powerful that it lifted the dummy high in the air.
Xinyi Liuhe Quan: Ryu Kiba [Dragon Fang] 1/1 LEARNED
Rikka thinks for a moment about the techniques she had learned so far. Right now it was looking to her like she’d been neglecting more defensive techniques. Lucky for her, the next one was a very defensive technique that would allow her to be able to parry and counterattack a series of taijutsu or bukijutsu related attacks. She didn’t have anyone to fight, but Rikka didn’t care. She simply closed her eyes and visualized in front of her an opponent. In her mind, Rikka’s opponent would begin attacking her ruthlessly. Rikka would then spend the next few minutes parrying some of these pretend attacks, occasionally throwing a punch at the dummy before finally stopping to move on to more techniques.
Xinyi Liuhe Quan: Gurindesutini [Crouching Tiger] 1/1 LEARNED
The last technique in the first stage of Xinyi Luhe Quan. Rikka assumes a powerful stance, both legs tightened and slightly spread and her arms tucked to the side in fists. She would wait in front of the dummy for a while, and then suddenly thrust her right hand’s index finger forward in a fierce jab. Rikka would then be surprised to see that her finger would easily be able to pierce the straw dummy. She knew from the technique’s description that she would be able to just as easily pierce skin, and to her that was pretty amazing. Rikka decides that while she’s doing this she might as well make the most of it. There was another technique in the second stage of this style that was basically an extension to the one she was using right now, so there was no point in waiting to try it out any longer. So, finger still piercing the straw dummy, Rikka would burst the chakra in his finger forward. Using this on a human would cause radial internal damage, possibly taking their life if Rikka could manage to strike in a vital location. Feeling around inside the dummy with her finger, she could tell that yes, this did indeed work. Rikka was quite amazed. What a great technique this was! And all it required was a single finger. She would definitely keep this in mind when fighting in the future.
Xinyi Liuhe Quan: Gao Tetsushi [Roaring Iron Finger] 1/1 LEARNED
Xinyi Liuhe Quan: Stage 1 MASTERED
Xinyi Liuhe Quan: Fukumigoe no Sho-ro [Cry of a Muffled Voice] 1/1 LEARNED
Two more techniques in the second stage of this style and Rikka could move on to other things. This one seemed pretty useful. At the very least, she would be able to land a sneaky attack on her opponents. At least that’s what Rikka told herself. Performing a very swift rotational sidestep on one foot, she would meanwhile lift the opposite hand to land a sneaky whiplash bow on her target. Her target of course being the face of the training dummy she was ‘fighting’.
Xinyi Liuhe Quan: Bibu no Mouko [Tail of the Fierce Tiger] 1/1 LEARNED
This was the last technique Rikka would be learning of the Xinyi Liuhe Quan style. That is, it was the last technique she would learning for now. In her opinion it was rather underwhelming but it couldn’t help to learn right? Rikka stands in front of her training dummy, legs spread slightly apart and arms tucked at her sides. Palms out, she would lean inward and perform a swift body blow with both hands. Now, this technique would never do much in the form of damage, but Rikka would immediately notice its main purpose upon performing the technique. That is because the result of the technique was Rikka sending the training dummy flying to land more than thirty feet away from her. Rikka shrugs, not too impressed, and decides to move on to something else.
Xinyi Liuhe Quan: Soudou Sho [Double Pulsating Palms] 1/1 LEARNED
Xinyi Liuhe Quan Stage 2 MASTERED

There was another technique in the second stage of this style that was basically an extension to the one she was using right now, so there was no point in waiting to try it out any longer. So, finger still piercing the straw dummy, Rikka would burst the chakra in his finger forward. Using this on a human would cause radial internal damage, possibly taking their life if Rikka could manage to strike in a vital location. Feeling around inside the dummy with her finger, she could tell that yes, this did indeed work. Rikka was quite amazed. What a great technique this was! And all it required was a single finger. She would definitely keep this in mind when fighting in the future.
