Yes. It is a tradition to give people candy on valentines day. however, it very well can fight halloween but halloween has a lot more religious conflict in it so some people dont go out and get/ give candy to poor little children. sad

well it couldn't be in friday the 13th could it? XD I have no honest clue why it was on the 14th. christian influence perhaps?

So i think a lot of people are looking up honest google answers to these questions. is there really a right or wrong answer to these?

anyway ill have to google some stories myself i was never a valentine day person.

St Valentine was persecuted as a Christian and interrogated by Roman Emperor Claudius II in person. Claudius was impressed by Valentine and had a discussion with him, attempting to get him to convert to Roman paganism in order to save his life. Valentine refused and tried to convert Claudius to Christianity instead. Because of this, he was executed. Before his execution, he is reported to have performed a miracle by healing the blind daughter of his jailer. On the evening before Valentine was to be executed, he would have written the first "valentine" card himself, addressed to a young girl variously identified as his beloved, as the jailer's daughter whom he had befriended and healed, or both. It was a note that read "From your Valentine."

i used to. i didn't have a bf at the time myself. now that i have one, i can see how a day set aside to appreciate and enjoy your lovers company can be quite nice. aaahhh how ignorant i was....
