Zeramaru moved on to another doton jutsu, the Swift Earth. He decided that this would be the last jutsu he'd learn for now, until he could gather up enough intel on the other jutsus to make an agreeable decision about which to focus his attention on. The jutsu was easily learned though. Zeramaru just focused his chakra into his hands, placed them on the ground, and rotated the earth around him in a motion that suited him. It was a unique way of dodging at attack which was why Zeramaru learned it.

Next Zeramaru went to the maruton jutsu. He was eager to learn the Body Paralysis Technique first. He started by simply picking out his target. A wandering student outside the window seemed like easy prey.

Then Zeramaru practiced forming the seals. First he did so with both hands, and then he learned to use only one hand. Eventually, he wouldn't even need that. Zeramaru was looking forward to that day. Finally he formed the seals and activated his jutsu on the innocent bystander.

The jutsu was a success. The boy's body clenched up in completely paralysis, unable to even move a finger. However, the effects were very short-lived. As soon as the moment passed the boy was able to go on about his day as usual, bewildered maybe but unharmed. Not that Zeramaru much cared though, as he simply moved on to the next jutsu on his list.

Next Zeramaru decided to learn the Body Flicker technique. The technique sounded much more intense than its rank would initially imply. After all he was going to be traveling at high speeds throughout the area, or even beyond that. He could run much further than a mile in under a few minutes so how was he going to do it in just a few seconds?

More to the complexity, the maruton skill didn't seem to require any hand seals. The user just zipped to a location. Zeramaru decided to try it out anyways before he doubted any further. He channeled chakra through his body, which took a small moment to fire up, but then he zipped over to the other side of the room. It was quite an interesting sight.

However, he wasn't done. The technique was still imperfect, so another attempt was the best course of action. The lag time between jumping and arriving at a location was the only thing keeping Zeramaru from being completely untouchable, but it was a downfall he would have to live with. Can't make things too easy can we? Zeramaru tried the technique one more time and transported himself outside the building, just as he'd planned. Afterwards he re-entered the academy and resumed his training.

Another interesting jutsu that caught Zeramaru's eye was the Astral Projection skill. Since it relied on the information on locations a user had been to, it could prove to be quite useful when needing to quickly report back to the Hokage or the village. It could also even be used to spy on his enemies, a thought that Zeramaru found even more pleasing. He quickly formed the seals and attempted the jutsu.

Though Zeramaru remained where he was, a small silhouette slowly took form in front of him. This form was almost like a hologram. Varying shades of color flickered in and out around his body, while his real self remained shadowed. Zeramaru found this particularly useful as he could both spy and conceal his identity at the same time.

There was one piece missing from the jutsu though. It was still not fully perfected. The hologram's chakra link still needed to be tested. Zeramaru decided to try it out as he focused his chakra once more. He funneled it to the projection, which then in turn channeled it back to Zeramaru himself. Now he had completely tested all of the projection's functions as described by the scroll.

There was one last maruton skill that Zeramaru felt the immediate urge to learn, at least at this present moment, and that jutsu was the Poison Mist technique. Ruthless and effective, the poison could easily disrupt any pesky close-range attackers that might be caught unaware. Zeramaru collected a gas mask nearby and headed outside for this particular jutsu training.

The gas needed to be made from his own chakra, so Zeramaru focused on poisoning it through a quick series of seals first. Soon his chakra turned purple and toxic, just as he would need. After that, Zeramaru worked on the quality of the poison his chakra could make. This was not an easy process, unlike the other jutsus he learned.

First the poison Zeramaru could make was very minor. It barely had the purple tint to it. More practice was needed to slowly turn it into a palpable amount of toxic. Zeramaru worked on perfecting it until it was dark purple. However, even then he could only make a small amount of it.

The genin persevered and practiced harder. He was determined to master this jutsu and get it over with so he could return his focus on other less destructive means of learning. Besides, breathing through a gas mask wasn't particularly enjoyable. Zeramaru wondered if there was some way he could make himself immune to the poison he created. But that would be for another day.

With a little extra practice, Zeramaru finally felt that he was ready. He formed a few quick hand seals and instantly a large cloud of purple, toxic gas emitted from his body in a large sphere. Even if an opponent couldn't be poisoned by the cloud, it was dark enough to at least blind the enemies while he made an escape. That alone made all of the effort worth it. Zeramaru returned to the classroom a few minutes later and passed by the group still stationed there as he went back to his large heap of scrolls.

Zeramaru moved on to his Raiton jutsu list to begin learning the main branch of his ninjutsu, starting with Electrical Resistance Training. It was a necessity for all lightning techniques. It was the only way to numb the effects and damage to one's own body as they practiced the techniques. Zeramaru had to give himself painful but minor jolts of electricity to steadily build up his resistance. It was not an enjoyable experience but when it was over he was ready to learn some real lightning jutsu.

The genin immediately went into learning the Lightning Clone technique. It was much needed considering the idea the idea that he would need to fight at long distance, and with both of his hands needed to control his puppets there wasn't much he could do to defend himself in a tight pinch. Thats where these clones came in. With just a little practice Zeramaru was able to form two of them at his side without the need of any hand seals. That attribute alone made him highly unpredictable and deadly. Now he felt that his close range problems were sufficiently conquered, at least at this level.

Zeramaru moved on to the next jutsu he intended to master. This one was called the burst technique, and for good reason. Being able to completely electrify those touching his body would be a priceless technique to have under his belt. It could very well stop anyone from grabbing or physically touching him. Once again he would turn the primary focus of his techniques into thwarting all taijutsu opponents.

Zeramaru started by channeling his chakra throughout his body. He prepared himself for the long haul. Unlike the former techniques it was now not a matter of simply learning his technique. Rather, Zeramaru was looking to completely master it. He wanted to perfect it to the point where he could light himself up like a christmas tree at any given moment, and damage all those who dared to touch him.

When he finally attempted the jutsu it was a success. Electricity cackled over his body in a sudden wave of power. Anybody touching him would get the same feeling as they'd probably get from touching an electric eel. After a few seconds Zeramaru dropped the jutsu and rested for a moment before getting up to try again. Now that he'd learned it, it was time to improve it.

His body soon cackled with electricity once more. This was going to be the slow and unusually boring point in his life. Minutes would soon grow into hours as Zeramaru used the burst technique again and again to improve its power.

However, this was the reality he would have to face and get used to. The burst technique surely wasn't going to be the last technique he'd have to repeatedly practice like this. But if it earned him a victory then all of the hours training will have been worth it. Zeramaru used the technique once more to create a stronger current.

Eventually he felt the burst technique improve itself a bit. The electricity crackled around his body just a little louder than before, and the streams of lightning became more dominant. No longer would this technique simply deal minor shock damage like before. Now the burst technique was an actual damage-dealer in combat. Zeramaru now hoped he would get to face a taijutsu user just so that he might use this improved technique.

He wasn't done yet though. The burst technique could still become much more powerful, and Zeramaru was going to see it through. After taking a quick break he was back it again. With a simple hand seal the young genin's suit floated up form his body as the streams of electricity cackled around him once more.

As the practice continued, Zeramaru was tempted to just put in more chakra to improve the technique's power. Unfortunately that was a lazy and otherwise unacceptable option. The same cost needed to be consistently use to prove the technique's improvement. Anything else either wouldn't work or would just be a cheap knock-off to his technique.

Once again Zeramaru had improved the technique after more hours of practice. By this point his training had been intense. Sweat started to show on the man's unscarred and serious face. Lightning flowed from his body in a very powerful current. Major damage would come to those who were unfortunate enough to get hit by such a technique. Now it was on level the heavy damage dealing techniques of the jounin-level, approximately a B-ranked jutsu that he could use for only a D-rank cost. The accomplishment was indeed something to be proud of for a genin, but Zeramaru no longer felt like celebrating. He needed his rest. The electricity died from his body and with a relieving sigh Zeramaru collapsed to the ground in an exhausted heap.

×××POST: Aylin stared at the attack that had been sent towards her from one of the three clones, hence she was distracted from the real Uinsean as she attempted to dodge the attack by cartwheeling to the side, feeling a tiny shock from the attack Aylin placed her hands on her hips and glared at Uinsean's clone. "Oh so just because I'm the girl you send me the weakest of attacks hm?" Aylin growled.

In an attempt to prove herself, Aylin took out five sendon needles and threw them at Uinsean's clone, assuming it'd just poof. Aylin took no chances tough and removed a kunai from her pouch and ran towards Uinsean's clone as she placed her kunai infront of his clone's forehead and hesitated as she realized that doing this would be just like killing him. Flashes of her nightmare ran through her head as she was momently distracted. Aylin placed her right hand that held nothing to her head as she closed her eyes.

'I'm a healer not a killer,' she thought as she opened her eyes and got serious, 'This isn't killing it's just training, don't worry Aylin just do it,' Aylin stared at Uinsean's clone and wondered sheathed she could really do this. Aylin shook her head as she told herself these things are needed if she were to achieve her dream in becoming the next hokage, the one to protect her people from the dangers that her village faced and even kill in order to protect them. Aylin got her head back in the game as she placed her kunai near Uinsean's clone's neck as she patted him on the shoulder as if to say she was going to attack now.

Zeramaru slowly regained consciousness, and the first thing he saw was the red-haired squad member hesitating to kill what he suspected was a simple clone. It struck him so odd that a ninja would refuse to kill even a non-existent being. "She is very kind." He thought to himself as he pulled himself back on his feet so that he could resume practice with the burst technique.

Zeramaru's body lit up once again as he channeled the electricity through his body. The power was quite potent, a product of his training no doubt, but he wanted to make it even more powerful. Zeramaru continued to focus his chakra further to ensure a more destructive force from his burst technique.

Zeramaru attempted his burst technique once more. This time there was a significant improvement once more. Now his technique was truly that on level with the more powerful of jutsus. The amount of volts leaping from his body was now so powerful that it could rival a minor chidori application, and beyond that could bypass most defenses through its force alone.

Zeramaru moved away from the Burst technique, for now, to instead learn a new raiton technique. This particular jutsu was called the Lightning Transformation technique, and its ability to transform into an impossible quick and near-indestructive force of nature made it a very attractive technique to learn. Zeramaru started by simply focus on channeling the correct amount of chakra throughout his body.

Next Zeramaru first tried the jutsu. For just an instant his body shifted into an electrical force and jumped forward several feet before shifting back into Zeramaru's natural form. Immediately the puppet master was consumed with nausea and dizziness. He collapsed soon after. More practice would obviously be necessary before he could risk using such a technique in battle.

Luckily he didn't have to practice for much longer. After compensating for the dizziness effect Zeramaru soon grew used to it and was able to retain his lightning form until he wanted to change back. The form also seemed to have a very electrifying effect to organic creatures, or so he read, which could come in handy when he wanted to deliver a quick dodge and counter with an opponent.

Finally it was time Zeramaru learned an offensive-based jutsu, and after reading through the C-ranked techniques he chose the Lightning Beam. Its wide range and field of electrocution was far superior to anything of its rank, and would surely act as his normal jutsu of choice in ranged attacks. He started training by learning the hand seals.

The first attempt followed the general flow of his previous D-ranked jutsu. He was able to create a beam of lightning, but it was very thin and concentrated. Overall it was lacking in power as well. Zeramaru was half-expecting his jutsu to blow a hole through the academy roof. Instead it simply burned into the wall and died out.

More practice proved itself to be the key to success, as always. Zeramaru was simply inexperienced with the new jutsu. A few more tries helped him to easily perfect it until he could flash through the seals with one hand and fire a large and powerful beam straight through the academy wall. The genin was proud that his jutsu had been successfully completed, of course, but from then on made a note to practice such power outside.

Zeramaru read into the next jutsu on his list, called the Electric Detonation technique. This jutsu was a branch off of the lightning clones he'd learned just a short time ago, only now he would be blowing all of his precious little creations sky high. The thought of blowing himself up almost seemed counter-productive, but it did seem useful if put into a pinch. Learning it certainly couldn't harm him.

With a few quick hand seals a pair of lightning clones appeared at Zeramaru's side. From here Zeramaru made sure to get them all outside, and a fair distance apart before attempting the jutsu. He wasn't looking forward to paying for building damages or losing an eye-brow or two in the resulting explosion. With a single attempt he made the two dispel each other.

However, a simple poof away wasn't what he was looking for! Zeramaru made another couple of clones and after setting himself a fair distance apart, formed the activating hand seal. Instantly the clones exploded an wide blast of electrical shock, jolting everything within reach. Now he didn't need to hurt the opponent with his clones, per say, Zeramaru only needed to get them close to his victim to defeat them through the self-destruct explosion.

Before he could react, Masaru felt a pair of soft, warm lips press to his own. His cheeks reddened for a split-second since he wasn’t sure what Aylin had done. He quietly lifted his head protector back to his lips as he regained composure. Although she had supposedly stolen something from him, Masaru seemed… undeterred. He wasn’t the type to waver in the midst of battle. Sure, he may repay her for what she had done later on, but now was not the time to be playing around.

After Aylin had hopped over him, Masaru’s eyes returned onto the three clones just in time to notice one of the clones coming at him. Just as he saw this clone move its hand towards the floor, Masaru held his breath in case the clone planned to snap a smoke bomb or anything of that sort. SNAP! POOF! Just as he assumed, smoke filled the air around him a second after the clone acted. Masaru was expecting a direct attack since the clone was already rushing towards him before it had thrown the smoke bomb. Thus he side-stepped and, with his free hand, whipped out a pre-wired windmill shuriken from the bottom of his compact backpack; his opposite hand was still undoing a few buckles on his shirt. Then in one fluid motion, drawing his windmill shuriken and slicing apart the clone (if it was a lightning-type clone, it probably wouldn't affect Masaru because of his affinity for lighting attribute) as it entered the smoke to strike him, Masaru darted out of the smoke and threw the large shuriken towards Uinsean. His eyes were on his teacher, Aylin , and her clone only – he hadn’t a chance to look upon Uinsean’s pendulum yet. “Hmph, duck!” he shouted as he hurled the the shuriken headed straight for Uinsean. The thin, metal line attached to his shuriken was almost invisible as he loosely held it in his hand, allowing the windmill shuriken to continue in its flight.

Like Kenta assumed, the sweep that his partner tired to preform on their teacher didn't actually work. However, at the moment, that didn't matter, since one of the clones would now be rushing straight for Kenta. As he watched its movements he thought to himself. These don't seem like normal clones. Kenta couldn't put his finger on what the name of the technique was, but he had heard about it.

Anyways there didn't seem to be anything to special about the punch that the clone was sending Kenta's way he so he made a quick decision and started his counter attack. With the clone rushing at him, Kenta broke from his defensive stance and rushed forward himself. Rearing his arm back he would do the old, take an attack for an attack method. Being from the Oni clan, Kenta already had a good amount of natural bulk and even his parents said, that he seemed to have more then a normal Oni kid. While he didn't look it, he could take a pretty good beating. So assuming there wasn't anything special behind the attack, he wouldn't fell much. As the two got close, Kenta sent his fist forward with a fair amount of speed aiming for the clones face. Hopefully if it kept on its path, Kenta would peg the clone in the face about the same time he was getting hit in the chest.
