Honestly, so much traffic through the tower, these days it was rare. Although it did annoy him slightly, especially when it was obvious he had other matters to deal with. Holding back his annoyance, he was slightly concerned that a shinobi from another village had just waltzed into Yukigakure. Of course, with the state it was in now a days, it was not that surprising. "Fine. Go keep an eye on him until I get there. Now."
After the Anbu left his office and Hanzo had closed the door behind the three of them, Keiji leaned back his seat and thought about what to say. "I could say how pride makes it hard to ask for help. How it would be best not to have Konohagakure involved and waste their time. Yet this is not the time for posturing, so I will just get right to the point."
Leaning forward, resting his elbows on the desk and clasping his hands, he said "Yukigakure will be attacked and there will be another attempt on my life. By the same man that orchestrated the last assassination attempt. That was what was in the papers my shinobi brought back to me after destroying the enemy base. Yukigakure has not always been in the best state, as has the nation in general. Thus the man after my head, Kyoji, has managed to amass a force that can easily breach Yukigakure in it's weakened state. I do not know when he will attack but he will no doubt make his move soon, before the both of you have a chance to make it back to Konohagakure and return with support."
Pausing, letting this information sink in, Keiji continued "Yukigakure will be ransacked and they will be after me, there is nothing to change this. What the both of you can do is to help civilians and what remaining shinobi I have left, escape the nation. Help them get to Konohagakure where they can be protected." Looking to Hanzo he said "That goes for you too, Hanzo. I will stay behind and deal with them."
Standing up, he walked over to a file cabinet and pulled out a file filled with neatly organized papers. These he handed over to Jae and Shikatsu "This is the evacuation plan I've made. If you feel you can handle this, then start soon. If not, then you may still return to Konogakure and inform your Kage that Yukigaure is no more. The choice is yours." |

His face remained how it was until the debriefing. The anbu more or less posing as an interest in his mind until... The cold breach that will upset an entire nation even more than it was would soon arrive. A mixture of scorn, fear, and anger swirling in his amber eyes at the memory of that one man that got away. From that one crucial mission he failed. The very man who plotted against his leader's life and the one who unnecessarily skewered life from a comrade. Now at his raining guilt, had been biding his time. At Keiji's orders and instructions, he could not even begin to mentally prepare. Yukikagakure was his home. And to hear it again and again that it will fall was coiling his intestines tightly. Even more heavy for his heart when Keiji announced that he was stepping down from his position as Kage. It was inevitable from the start, the village. But that same man could go so much lower, by stripping away the country's leader.
How dare he send him away like this? Kage or not, he couldn't face that man alone. Every fiber in his eyes simmered with defiance. As if a cold look to him could tell Keiji the sum of Hanzo's thoughts. An honor it would have been to have fight for their homeland but instead, being sent away on an equally important and final duty. His feelings toward this was divided but of course, it probably didn't matter in light of this proposition. Not even he, expected this. He said nothing, simply glaring with determination at nothing in particular. One thing he knew, he could not openly defy whatever stasis of authority Keiji had left. That much Hanzo had to do as a Yukikagakure shinobi. Divided for his concern over the country, or for his leader. He took a deep breath, narrowing his eyes as though he had better relations to the flooring than facing either of the three within the room. He's only just recovered. He can't fend them off with...nothing. His blood boiled just by the thought of it. The ever so casual, laid back, lofty Nara now faced an even bigger fear. More eminent in the gorge of his mindset. Losing someone very important.
He daren't ask why. He forcibly lessened the hostility in his gaze before facing the two Konoha shinobi. Their decision was important. He fretted little about what they might say however he was growing even more impatient. Outwardly, he appeared to be fine. Save for the scorching anger and deep breathing. What if they say no? He somehow felt that the chances of that would be little, remembering how they mentioned Konoha having their own issues as it is. But there has to be a reason why their Kage even bothered to send help. Still, back to the what 'if'. What would Keiji do then?

It was not hard to guess that Hanzo was against this. Any Yukigakure shinobi worth his salt would be when ordered to leave instead of stay and fight. Yet he would not acknowledge the look the other was giving him for now was not the time or the place. No one would be allowed to die just because they decided to stay between him and Kyoji. He felt another genin outside of the door but that could wait until this meeting was over.
It seemed the news had stunned even Jae slightly since she did not have a witty response of some sort. He was certain that she would help, if not out of old feelings for the village then for some other reason. "I do not wish for back up, Miss Jae. Kyoji is after me, aside from bringing Yukigakure down, I am his target." Honestly, so eager to fight, especially against such a force. Kyoji was clever, he would not just rush in. He'd plan, he'd take all possibilities in mind, and he'd know how to fight Keiji.
Sighing, he replied "You two... really have no idea what you are facing." Moving back to his desk, he took a seat and folded his fingers over his stomach. "Say I give you that messenger bird and you send out a message. It will be seen, it may be allowed to go if there is no chance of your comrades arriving in time. Or it may even be shot out of the sky. You won't know... and while you stay with me, hopeful and waiting, they will come. He'll send in fodder at first, bandits to weaken you and wastefully spend energy. He may let you live to fight the real threats, shinobi of chuunin, jounin, even konin level that have defected over the years. Or he may pick you off from a distance himself. And you won't see it, won't be prepared for it until you feel the arrows pierce your flesh. He is a konin level shinobi, maybe even close to sannin, he is skilled and he is deadly."
Pausing to let that sink in, he continued "I have no patience for whatever your arguments may be. Whether they be confidence, arrogance, a grasp at glory, or because you honestly believe you will make a difference. Yukigakure is on its' last leg and Kyoji will cut it down. He will attack me. There is no changing that. You may stay, you may fight, but as soon as the last Yukigakure citizen is out of range and safe, you will leave as well unless I give the order for you to leave earlier than that. Do I make myself clear?"

Maybe Jae's attitude towards the matter was needed. It was important to try and keep moral up, despite the situation. Yet Keiji still felt ill at ease. He honestly was not sure what exactly Kyoji had planned for the attack. He'd certainly had plenty of time to gather forces and plan since seven years ago, they'd have to be prepared for anything.
Shikatsu seemed interested in why Jae was so interested in staying behind to defend Yukigakure. No doubt she had not told anyone of her past, but that was her choice to. Keiji certainly would not give such information unless the girl was ready to speak on the matter. Which seemed she was not ready to and he understood why. He did not respond in any way to her wink, knowing exactly the game she was playing. Quite the kunoichi, a shame she had gone to Konoha, Keiji was certain he would have liked to meet her and have her work for Yuki.
"I want this evacuation to being as soon as possible. Miss Jae, head to the residential areas and inform the citizens so that they can be ready to move. Don't forget to remind them to take only the necessities and to pack light. You'll also want to keep any in like who feel the need to panic or cause trouble because of what's going to happen. Hanzo will assist you." Keeping the citizens calm would be the primary concern. Looking to Shikatsu he said "And this is not the time to interrogate your teammate when a threat could strike at any time. We could use Konoha's help to stave off the attack, especially if Kyoji strikes before the citizens are evacuated. You'll want to move fast and you'll want to move without being detected. I'm sure if someone spots you, they will attack. You all know what to do now, so please move swiftly to attend to your tasks."
Of course, he had felt Marco's chakra at the door and he figured it was time to have the male come in now. "Enter, Mister Cross."
OOC: And Kiro, you will be attacked on your way back to Konoha, at the cross roads.
