A large mortar shell descended toward the idyllic-looking residence of the Miyamoto family. As soon as the sand wall over the Village had been pierced overhead, all of Bast's golems had immediately assembled and stood ready to combat the incoming force. The question was: what would they do?
((Leaving this to you since you're running Bast currently. Assume all the golems on her profile are present except for the pens.))
The mighty pens, how they would write down the jolly deeds of those golems in the house this very eve. The Princess, a girl with a massive hammer, leapt up towards the falling mortar. Playing baseball, she gave it a thwack, which caused its detonation. Cinders flew, bounced, and rolled across the ground, pelting the roof. Landing outside the compound walls, her skin was charred black, but that was nothing as serious as the rolling cinders. Poryo, leering from the pond out front, sent his watery forces gliding lithely over the ground, swallowing flames with ease. Sweeping clockwise, Poryo would then climb the water spouts when in front of the house again, clearing off the roof, gutters, and eves.
Mononoke's furry self has vicious hearing, letting her hear the bombardments across the village. Climbing atop Kanpai, she spoke of the tea shoppe's woes to Complexity, and swooped off towards the village's water canals closest to the library. [Mononoke and Kanpai to the Arcane Library] Complexity hopped atop a Houtzin, and away they went towards the Tea Shoppe Citadel. [Y'all know where they're going] The pens, for all of their might, just continued to write.
[House and surrounding grounds are drenched from pond water]
XXXXX Ibara stood rubbing his head. It was thumping and he wasn't exactly sure where he was. It was warm and the building he scratched his head. "Where the hell?" The man stood and looked around trying to gauge where he was. The former kage made his way to the door and slipped though it out into a blazing sun that was incredibly too hot, and realized he was no longer in konohagakure but had no recollection on how exactly he had gotten to this place. It looked like a massive city but he wasn't sure what city it was. So naturally he began to wander.

Bast appeared in her study alongside Mononoke, both of them covered in dirt and smelling of fish. The entire room was covered in a thin layer of dust, but otherwise seemed to be fully in order. Mononoke excused itself to go jump in the lake outside to clean itself, while Bast took a bath and changed into clean clothes. The box containing the incomplete Variable Marble and the hunk of diamond she had been carrying was stowed in her warehouse for later use. After the first hot bath she had taken in a very long time, she changed into fresh clothes and toppled over into her bed. She could hear the sounds of a festival in the distance, but that would have to wait; for now, she was going to enjoy a nice night's sleep in a warm bed.

After a full day of cleaning her entire house from top to bottom to get rid of the dust--and in some cases mold--that had begun to accumulate during her absence, and yet another restful night in a warm bed, Bast awoke and had a cup of tea on her porch. The tea was something she had missed greatly as a vagrant/superhero, and its renewed presence in her life filled her with a strange sense of relief.
As she munched on a few slices of dry toast that she was dipping in her drink, she mentally ran over everything still needing to be done to maintain the estate. There was an absolutely incredible amount, but the more she thought things over, the more she really just wanted to immerse herself in the city for a while. It was at this point that one of her hoatzin golems landed in front of her with a beak full of mail. The woman wrested the delivery from her golem's beak, then sent it away. Judging by a weeks-old advertisement, there was a festival underway; this, thought Bast, was the perfect distraction. She would go see if the festival was still in town, then head to the Kazekage's Office with a report of her mission and what she had seen. Yes, that was a good plan.
Bast dunked the last of the toast in her tea, downed the tea, and poured the rest of the kettle into her flask. She dressed in a set of (relatively) cheap white robes and a pair of geta of similar quality. Before heading out, she placed a straw hat atop her head. The heat, after all, was a bit more of a problem out here in the desert than it was in Takumi.

Post 8/8 for Climate Control Variable Marble
Bast walked calmly up to the gates to her home, where she led the way for a couple of men who were delivering a smithing furnace, directing them to the smithy. She thanked them as soon as the apparatus was in place, then fetched the leftover materials she had been using in Takumi. The incomplete Climate Control Variable Marble sat mockingly on a table in the corner, and before anything else, the woman knew she would have to finish it. She sat down in front of it, grabbed the chunk of diamond she'd made in Takumi, and started drawing formulas on the table.
It was strange being in this dusty old smithy again, she mused while drawing a few complex symbols around the marble. She would definitely have to clean the place up as soon as she was done here. After finishing the formulas and making sure the balance of ingredients was right in the marble--including taking a few scrapings' worth of diamond dust--she opened her mouth and let her words bring life to the strange gem. Thus, the marble was finished.

Post 7/7 for Reforming Variable Marble
Now it was time for a different job. Bast took one look at the furnace before realizing she was out of luck if she wanted to use it: she needed fuel and glassblowing partitions if she wanted to make marbles. Luckily, she still had some unused glass marbles left over from her time in Takumi, so she went and fetched them.
Now it was time to gather the ingredients. She already had about a hundred pounds of orichalcum remaining, so she was fine on that. The variable marble she was making had the property of "reforming", so she needed pyrite.
A small stone from outside the smithy would serve just find for this task. Thanks to San's technique, she didn't really need to worry too much about mundane materials like these. Taking a deep breath, she extended tendrils of Chakra into the stone.
The muddled tangle of divisions within the stone twisted under her influence. They curled up in some places, uncurled in others, and then finally settled. She disengaged from that strange world, and in her hand sat a lump of pyrite.
The woman wiped away a few drops of sweat and set the marble on a table. The lump of pyrite sat next to it, and on the other side was a small sample of orichalcum. With one finger, she started drawing lines on the table using Chakra.
The dark blue trails she left behind with her finger seemed to suck in all light around them, becoming supernaturally dark as she drew. She had a very practiced finger at this sort of thing, especially since the technique she was using to draw was typically reserved for Fuuin. It certainly helped to have related skills when it came to this sort of thing.
The figures spiraled around the components on the table in front of her. With the setup finally finished, the woman closed her eyes and began to chant softly. A few minutes later, she opened her eyes and closed her mouth, and on the table in front of her sat nothing but a complete variable marble. She placed it with the other finished one and took a seat on the nearest walkway of the house, staring back at the workshop as she recharged her energy.
Sonyo made her way along the path to the estate, her eyes wide. Just how much money did this family have? She had never seen a house, or houses this big before. She walked up to the door of the main house and raised her hand to knock when something caught the corner of her eye. Sitting just outside the workshop was a woman, she had an air of elegance about her like Nari had. She walked up to the woman, clearing her throat as she approached. She didn't want to scare her, she knew better now than to do that to Suna shinobi. "Um, are you Bastet? I'm looking for an apprenticeship...."

Bast listened intently to the sound of footsteps approaching the household. They did not sound urgent and lacked an overall sense of hostility, but that did not mean the woman would assume the best. It was always healthy to assume assassins were coming, even if she was in one of the most secure Villages in existence. Then came the request.
"You what?" Bast asked, sounding at once alarmed and confused. She turned to face the newcomer, and found she recognized the girl, which was a good sign. "An apprenticeship... in what, exactly? You'll have to forgive me; I've taught a fairly wide range of things over the years."
The girl gave off a calm, deliberate air, and didn't seem to have wandered in on a whim. She reminded Bast of a few of the other Shinobi she had worked with over the years, but the woman couldn't quite place the resemblance. It wasn't physical, but the air around the woman's guest was irksomely familiar.
Sonyo jumped a little as the woman seemed confused, then pulled down the cowl around her head and chuckled lightly, scratching her cheek. "Sorry, that was a little rushed, huh? Uh... let me start again. I'm Sonyo Rue, a new genin here in Sunagakure. I'd like to be under your apprenticeship for smithing; preferably glassblowing and woodsmithing." She smiled brightly for the woman, setting her hand down. "I heard about you from the Superdome, Miyamoto-san" It seemed that all of the higher Sunagakure Shinobi had the same feeling to them, power just boiling under the surface. She didn't want to offend this woman any, she could tell the power behind her voice and behind her eyes.

Bast breathed a sigh of relief. Now that she thought on it, she had gotten quite a bit of experience under her belt in glassblowing recently. She patted a spot on the porch next to her, motioning for Sonyo to sit.
"It's been a while since I taught anyone smithing, Miss Sonyo. Why those two, specifically? Are you looking to get into artificing?" she asked, creating a clone and sending it into the house to make some tea. "I must admit my facilities are a bit lacking at the moment. My old glassblowing furnace gave out a few years ago. Just got a new one, but I'll need to run to Takumi for some supplies."
Returning to Takumi so soon was something the woman had hoped to avoid, but a return trip was inevitable regardless. She mentally started calculating out the total cost of the expenditures she would have to make to get her workshop up and running again.
Sonyo relaxed when Bastet seemed to relax as well. She took a seat beside the woman, running a hand through her ebony locks. "No, not artifusing. I want to get in to Pharmaceutical Chemistry; I'm a medical ninja. But I... I enjoy woodsmithing and I'm a tailor by birth. My mother was a tailor and her mother before her..." She thought for a moment, looking up at the sky. "If you would like, I could go to Takumi for you. It's part of a job as an apprentice right? I'd probably have to ask for an escort, but I'd do it." She looked over at Bast, smiling even brighter. "I like helping people so I wouldn't remind either way."

"Tailoring is a very rewarding profession. I have some contacts in Takumi if you want to get into it full-time," Bast offered. "With that background, you'd be perfect for infusion artifice if you wanted to go that path. Never had much of a patience for pharmaceutical chemistry myself. Beyond tea, that is."
On cue, a high-pitched whistle came from the belly of the house. A few moments later, the Bast clone came out with a tea kettle and three cups, one of which contained a few sprigs of mint. Bast took one of the cups, placed a sprig inside of it, and had her clone fill it with tea.
"I could probably get a better price by going myself, but I think it would do you good to get better acquainted with that world. Do you know the Summoning Technique?" the woman asked, running over the mental calculations once more. She sipped her tea, letting the fresh, cool scents of the mint fill her head.
"Chemistry, and the medical profession in general, fascinates me." A glimmer came to Sonyo's eyes, her smile wide as she spoke. "There's nothing more fascinating than taking the amazing things that nature grants us and turning it in to things that could potentially save a life. There are so many intricate things in the world..." The young genin shook her head, clearing her throat and listening to bast. Her eyebrows scrunched together as she thought on all the jutsu she knew before shaking her head in response. "No, I don't know it. Though I am a fast learner when it comes to Ninjutsu, I could probably learn it in no time."

"I suppose 'intricate' is the best way you could describe the world," Bast commented between sips of tea. The total cost of the trip ahead would be several thousand Ryou and some change, she reckoned, and she would have to take a few minutes to gather some funds. "If you can learn the Summoning Technique, I'll give you a seal to summon me and send you out with one of my guards. That way, if something goes wrong, you can call on me during the trip. What do you think?"
((Quick post is quick. I'll be on later tonight!))
