Gaze drifting off to the side, Rai voluntarily disrupted his thoughts about his future so that he could get back to training. Now that he had finished both sessions of basic chakra meditation, he would address the next level of basic training, performance. Rai did not have to perform any hand signs during this session, but since he already delve into it during his previous session, he figured that it wouldn't hurt to continue practicing hand signs even through performance training. Thus Rai clasped his hands together and formed a simple hand sign. [1/3]

After the hand sign, he carefully balanced back onto the side of the building. As he started down, he momentarily shut his eyes and performed yet another hand sign. This particular hand sign was for the 'Clone Technique' and he would drain a bit more of his chakra while using it. [2/3]

Rai stopped around two thirds of the way down the building and a clone of himself appeared right beside him. Immediately after, he performed yet another hand sign and used up some more of his chakra pool over again. He began to transform into Shou, a dear friend of his that passed away sometime ago. As he opened his droopy eyes, Rai looked down at his hands and lightly clenched them. "Shou..." he quietly spoke aloud. You'll always be... with me. I'll live on. For you and, for my parents. the thought quietly rippled through his mind like a single raindrop in a lonely puddle of water. [3/3]

Rai made the rest of his way down the academy's side until both his feet were firmly planted on the solid ground called earth. He dismissed his clone and faded out of his transformation technique, back to his normal self. Session one was done; now, two more sessions to go.

Just as he was about to continue training basic chakra skills, Rai tilted his head and pressed an index finger to his temple. He really only had a few jutsu at his disposal thus, he couldn't advance onto his next the last two sessions of basic chakra performance. Not until he learned a few more techniques, at least. Rai whipped out a scroll from his backpack. He figured he could start with a few low-ranked, Maruton techniques. After he learned those few, he would probably move on to a higher rank and so on and so forth. One technique really grabbed his attention was called 'Shadow Shuriken'. He thought it would be useful for him to learn, since he had a few windmill shuriken at his disposal.

After reading through the jutsu once more, he pocketed the scroll and drew two windmill shuriken from his backpack. Meanwhile, his eyes searched for a nice, round target that he could throw his two projectiles at. Once he found one nearby, he threw his windmill shuriken, one right after the other. [1/2]

With each throw, Rai got a bit closer to perfecting the technique. Eventually, his second shuriken was completely hidden in the shadow of his first. One last throw pierced the bulls-eye, smack dab in the center of the round slab of wood. His eyes lit up for a moment as he approached the target and withdrew both of his large shuriken. [2/2]

He undid the blades and returned the projectiles to their sheath, beneath his compact backpack. That wasn't too hard. Rai knew that as long as he kept his cool and kept diligently training, he could learn any technique he desired in time. As for now, it was time to move on to a learning different jutsu.

After Rai had mastered the 'Shadow Shuriken Technique' he pulled out his non-elemental scroll once again. Searching through the d-ranked list of techniques, he found another one that appealed to him; it was named the 'Body Flicker Technique' and could only be used three times per encounter or battle due to its strain on one's body. He nodded slightly as he continued to read about it and draw in all the details. After he was through with reading about it, he pushed the scroll in the large pockets of his worn-out pants this time, since he felt that he would probably be pulling it right back out shortly after he was done learning this new jutsu.

His lazy gaze studied the area; the academy's backyard was nearly perfect for the sort of training this technique would need. Without performing any hand signs, Rai shut his eyes and began to focus his flow of chakra, slowing it down quite a bit. Doing so would allow him to release it all at once, unlocking the ability to disappear and appear over a large distance. [1/2]

Reopening his eyes, his expression seemed much more serious than usual as he released a burst of chakra throughout his body. Meantime, he moved as one would while dashing or sprinting. Before he knew it, Rai covered a large space of at least a quarter of a mile in less than a second. He blinked as he could hardly believe it himself, yet, this was the fruit of his contiuous labor on the road to accomplishing his ambitions in life. [2/2]

Raiden practiced the 'Body Flicker' jutsu a few more times before he stopped and pulled his Maruton scroll out of the left pocket of his baggy, cargo-like pants.

After his teal eyes began to skim through his non-elemental scroll once more, yet another jutsu managed to grab his attention. This one was called the 'Astral Projection Skill' and Raiden felt that it would prove to be a very useful form of communication between him and his teammates, should he have any sooner or later; even between him and the Yukikage, if he had to turn in missions or grab missions on the go, or maybe report any important event that could unfold, Astral Projection would certainly help him out... as long as he knew the area where he'd project his figure beforehand.

Soon enough an idea popped up in the boy's head, like a brilliant light bulb. Mizu! I wonder how she's doing... thoughts of his beloved friend overwhelmed his mind and he soon felt butterflies fluttering in his stomach again, just like when the two of them first met. Raiden shook his head and tried to concentrate on learning this knew jutsu. [1/2]

Focusing his chakra, he shut his eyes and began to imagine Mizuki's home. Soon enough, his projection started to form in her very kitchen and Rai appeared to be standing in the corner of the room. Of course, his projection lacked a good amount of detail but he would worry about that later. As his sight became one with his projection's, Rai noticed that the his girlfriend's kitchen was rather empty. That made him wonder where she was off to; perhaps she had gone shopping for some ingredients to cook with? Rai knew she loved cooking... he just wished that he could spend even a minute with her today since he hadn't been with her since yesterday. [2/2]

With a heavy sigh, he refocused on his training. Rai imagined that he was looking in a mirror and after a bit, he could clearly picture the bitty details of his body that he could use to perfect his astral projection. After he was through imagining, he focused on creating a clearer figure of himself in regards to the projection, in Mizu's kitchen. [3/2]

Rai finally completed that particular jutsu and opened his eyes. His image faded from her kitchen even as his gaze began to focus in on the area around his true body. It was time to move on to another technique.

Rai read through his maruton scroll yet again. This time, he picked up on a few techniques he would like to learn before he'd revert to basic chakra training in order to complete his last two performance sessions. Unzipping his bag, he threw the rolled-up scroll inside, zipped the bag back up and threw it over his shoulders. The next tech he wanted to focus on was 'Shadow Clone' jutsu. [1/4]

Rai began to focus his chakra in a manner that could divide it between him and his shadow clone. He could feel the energy coursing through his system drain ever so quickly as he summoned a regular clone, but added more 'substance' to it by putting more chakra into the technique... thus making the plain old clone a shadow clone, instead. [2/4]

Although he summoned a shadow clone quite quickly, he had a little trouble maintaining it for a longer period of time. In fact, the clone dispersed shortly after he had created it, about one or two minutes at that. So Rai got back to work and created yet another clone. After a few more tries, his shadow clone seemed to appear and dissipate whenever he wanted it to, instead of fading away on its own. [3/4]

His clone appeared to have a distinct feature of his own personality and even a mind of its own. Yet, Rai was still able to control the shadow clone if he so wanted to. Deciding to experiment with his mastered jutsu, Rai sent his clone out a ways towards the village. After his clone had gathered a little random info from within the village, Rai released the jutsu and all the information the clone had gathered rushed back into his head. Mizu? ...he saw her, on her way back home?! Rai had to admit, he was a little impressed with this technique. [4/4]

Still, he shook any interrupting feelings off and started to recall info about the next jutsu he wanted to learn.

Next up on his list was a jutsu called 'Chakra Absorption Technique'. Rai scratched his chin thoughtfully and wondered how he would go about learning this one. It wasn't like he could grab a random academy student and ask them if they wanted the chakra sucked right out of them. No, there had to be another way. A few seconds later, his teal eyes rose from the ground as he came up with an idea. Why not use a shadow clone?! It seemed like that might work. After all, his chakra would be divided between him and the clone. So all he had to do was suck the chakra back out of the clone. The plan seemed full-proof.

Thus Rai created a shadow clone and had him stand about a yard across from him, facing him. Meanwhile, Rai worked on gathering a good amount of chakra to his hand. Soon enough, he could feel the chakra lightly pulsing in his hand and he judged that it was about enough. [1/2]

Next, he walked up to his clone and nodded slightly. The clone appeared to understand because it closed its eyes and readied for the possible pain or exhaustion that it would undergo. Rai placed his hand upon his shadow clone's shoulder and almost immediately, he felt chakra drawn out of the clone and into himself. Soon after, the clone 'poofed' and Rai took a few steps back, examining his glowing hand. [2/2]

The brilliant white chakra faded from his hand and Rai clenched his fingers, making a fist. Another technique that could help later on had been learned.

Rai allowed a light sigh to slip his lips. He still had one more maruton jutsu to learn before being at least halfway done with today's training. There was a lot on his to-do list and there seemed so little time to do it all. Meantime, a familiar man entered the area. Unfortunately, Rai was too in-tune with his personal schedule and training to take notice of the fellow. The next technique he planned on learning, however, would probably help him become aware of anyone that entered its range; its name was 'Fierce Raining At Will'. He could remember it quite clearly from when he had read his scroll last, just a few minutes ago. [1/4]

Unfortunately, it was much too cold in this particular area, in Yukigakure, to form rain. The best Rai could hope for was a slush like downpour, or at least a good amount of snowfall. With that in mind, the boy shut his teal-colored eyes and began to focus his chakra into the technique. [2/4]

It wasn't long before he felt a good amount of chakra leave his very body as if it were sucked right out of him and tossed up into the sky above. His eyes strained for a short moment but he quickly regained composure and continued concentrating on manipulating the thick, pearly white clouds way up high in the sky. The seemed to be moving at a vaguely faster pace, gathering directly above him. [3/4]

Rai clasped his hands together -though his talent allowed him to perform techniques without hand signs- in order to better his focus or meditation. Two minutes passed by and suddenly, it began to snow. Lightly at first, but soon enough, the snowfall grew more and more dense. It fell even upon Zain; then, through Rai's deep connection with the cooled rain (or snow) he took note of the man. [4/4]

Although he now knew Zain was watching him, Rai did not want to be interrupted too soon, since he had a few more techniques he wanted to learn. Still, his droopy eyes opened and hovered over to the area Zain stood in, showing the man that Rai appeared to know he was there.

Upon hearing the man's offer, Rai unclasped his hands and straightened his figure. The falling snow appeared to cease in accordance with his movement. His arms fell and glued to his sides, then Rai gave the man a polite bow. He remembered noticing Zain earlier, although their gazes never really met, back in the Yukikage's office, within the citadel. And although he didn't really know this man, he seemed to be of importance and higher rank the himself, thus reserving of respect.

After his bow, Rai straightened up once again, though this time his figure seemed more loose as he was now at ease. He quickly considered Zain's offer and tried to reply as kindly as his droopy personality would allow, "Thank you, Sir... but, I planned on training by myself a little while longer." he uttered through the fabric of his skintight mask that veiled his lower face. Rai quietly continued, "I find that, I learn much more quickly by myself." he explained as politely as possible. In truth, however, he wouldn't mind having someone to report to or train with on occasion.

With a lazy, yet interested gaze, Rai studied the man as he bowed back. He wondered what caused Zain to perform the same greeting. After all, it was Zain that was of higher rank, not Rai. Perhaps he was just being friendly or maybe he held no standards in regards to shinobi rank and whatnot? Either way, Rai felt sort of glad -confused, yet glad. Tea... why not? Rai couldn't see any harm in accepting that offer. Then again, he did want to meet up with his beloved later on today, so that created a slight conflict in his schedule should he choose to meet with Zain for tea. Mizu will probably be up late tonight... since she's cooking. Rai reasoned with himself.

In regards to tea, he decided to give the man a slight nod, showing that he accepted said offer. After Zain introduced himself, Rai figured he should follow suit. Thus he allowed a few seconds to pass and just before Zain left, he finally spoke up. "Monk...san?" he quietly called after the man, though his statement sounded like more of a question, but Rai wasn't to blame, Zain appeared to have an odd nickname after all. "It's Raiden." he introduced himself in a silent undertone before the man left.

After Monk-san left, Rai pulled another scroll out of his backpack. This time however, it was one that contained raiton -or lightning- techniques. Teal eyes settled on its long list of techniques and Rai read through all of them, one by one. Due to his photographic talent, he could memorize most to all of the hand signs he scanned through even as he read. After a few minutes passed, he rolled the scroll back up and returned it to his backpack. Rai had stored a few of the jutsu he had just read through in his mind.

Since his primary element was lightning, 'Electrical Resistance Training' wasn't a bad ability to learn. Unfortunately, he couldn't learn that one right off the bat. Rai needed to learn an actual lightning jutsu that would help him endure electrical currents, thus allowing him to learn 'Electrical Resistance' during the process -a win-win.

First up was the 'Static Strings' technique. Although Rai had a good roll of wire in his backpack and one or two of his windmill shuriken were prewired, he figured it'd be nice to create his own wires on-the-go. So he began to focus a small amount of chakra in the center of his palm. Once his chakra molded into lightning release and began to give off a faint glow, Rai pinched the center of his palm with his index finger and thumb of his opposite hand. Doing so, he was able to pull out a lengthy wire that he could tie to a kunai or any projectile of that sort. Before moving on to the next jutsu on his mind, Rai spent a little time experimenting with the static strings he could create and found quite a few uses to them. [1/1]

After his training, he took a little break and rested against the wall of the academy.

[before leaving]
Zain smiled to the boy, Raiden was a nice name, it sounded falcon like and made him chuckle but in a nice way.
[after leaving to outside]
Zain took the bukijustu scroll out. "After this I'll try my other style since this part takes a lot." he thought and read the scroll. It was called Seasonal Dance which sounded good and was defensive which he loved more. He stuffed the scroll away after rolling it up and slid his blade out, it shined in the sun they had today.[1/4 Lets read]

He made a click sound and seperated the blade into two halves, turning them in his hands to face the blade backwards for he was a bukijustu master almost and knew many stances of defense and offense. He closed his eyes and let the breeze sweep around him it was like a lullaby to a child and he smirked.[2/4 Lets think]

Taking his blade's hilt to grasp tighter he thrusted them up and bent his knees, stabbing one blade north west and the other blade north east. He took them out and spun, his robe fluttered up to show his black baggy pants as he stabbed one blade south east and the other blade south west into the ground. Once he more pulled them out and spun, stomping his foot to the ground and smacking the blades together before stabbing them both infront of him and in between the other stabs north east and north west.[3/4 almost ready!]

He took his blades out and took them apart once again, holding them tightly in his hands by their hilt and blade's pointing behind. He focused his chakra with the wind as it would be visible. A olive colored chakra showed it's self following the wind around him, wrapping him in a blanket almost but flew like leaves in Autum. It soon spread to where he had stabbed and created a shield around him, a dome almost but soon vanished and he sat down to look at another scroll.[4/4 create a beautiful shield ]

Zain tucked the Hagane scroll away into his robe and stood up, taking his blades for this offensive techinque. While Rai rested up he continued to read through his raiton scroll, refreshing his memory on some of the techniques he wanted to learn. That current transfer one... he couldn't get it off his mind since it seemed so easy to learn and could prove to be pretty useful in many instances: in battle, on a journey, etc. Before learning this jutsu, he quickly picked out a few more from the scroll and memorized them. A few minutes after, he pushed off the wall and pocketed his scroll as he made his way over the snowy training grounds, still right behind the academy.

Once he was about a dozen feet away from the school, Rai whipped out an unwired, windmill shuriken. It fluidly opened as he extended his arm in front of his body and continued to hold it there. Focusing chakra to his hand, he allowed it to mold into bright, white lightning. It wasn't long before his windmill shuriken started conducting the electricity spewing out from his hand. With a strong flick of his wrist, Rai spun his shuriken around his hand and used his electricity to keep the windmill shuriken in motion. [1/1]

Not bad. Another technique was off his list. He shut his windmill shuriken and gracefully tucked it back in its sheathe, beneath his backpack.
