Mariko stumbled while trying to dodge the attack, and Hajime's fist met her shoulder, knocking her to the ground. She rolled onto her back and performed a kick up, intending to kick her opponent in the face as she brought herself to her feet.

Watoire grinned to himself as he raised an artificially-empowered fist to block the girl's kick, and slammed an elbow down into her.

Mariko gasped as Hajime's elbow collided with her body. She backed away to give herself time to recover before swinging both of her axes in an x shape.

Watoire put out both hands, and stopped the attack cold. He called upon his illusory powers again, retaking the form of the insect-like monster, and lashing out quickly with a heel kick.

Mariko stepped to one side, easily dodging the attack, and retaliated with a punch.

Watoire stepped back, and belched a stream of lava-hot demon's blood in the direction of his enemy.

Mariko was too close to her enemy to dodge the attack. Blood splashed across her body, burning her flesh. She could do nothing, but collapse on the ground screaming. As soon as the match was officially over, paramedics rushed to the arena and carried her away.

Returning as Yakei's second-in-command, Gabriele made her way into the arena, moments after Watoire and his broken enemy were removed from it. The half-German, half-Japanese girl heaved a quick sigh, and prepared to fight.

Kaori's geta scraped loudly on the arena floor as she entered wearing her trademark kimono. Her umbrella was open and resting lightly on her shoulder.
"お久しぶりですね、ゲーブリエルちゃん," she said, bowing slightly at her opponent. She then took her position on the opposite side of the arena, drawing her sword in preparation.

With the signal given, Gabriele made the first move, launching a three-arrow burst at her opponent.
"Whatever happens, I'll be glad to see one of us go on. I want to do my part... but if someone means to replace the Demon King, I doubt I'll be any help."

Kaori dodged two of the arrows, but was unable to completely avoid the last one. It caught her on the arm, leaving a long, ugly cut across her forearm. "Snap to it, Hayate!" she commanded, flourishing her sword as it lengthened into a bladed whip. She snapped it viciously at Gabriele.

The whiplike zanpakuto tore into the skin of Gabriele's left shoulder, doing considerable surface damage, but leaving her otherwise quite capable to retaliate. The young Quincy reached deep within, and activated her Blut, augmenting her offensive capabilities frighteningly. She made a mad dash for the Shinigami standing opposite her, and delivered what she hoped would be a bone-breaking kick.

Kaori twisted as the kick collided with her abdomen. By rolling with the blow, she was able to avoid major damage, but the kick still threw her to the ground. With a growl of frustration, she kicked upward, hoping to hit her opponent in the chest.

The Shinigami's kick caught Gabriele off guard, and sent her flying. Hirenkyaku helped her to recover and float on the air a bit, before drawing back her bow for a powerful charged shot.
