Atsuko was glad to see that they were organized, but it appeared they also weren't alone. He didn't stop the hobo's but did give them a quick inspection before looking ahead. Signalling with his hands he motioned towards the tunnel that was both more quiet as well as cleaner. That was suspicious. Likely the other way would lead to some sort of underground settlement but that wouldn't need to be investigated unless they hit a dead end.
In terms of any supportive techniques Atsuko didn't have to much unfortunately. He really had to work on stuff to support others. As it stood right now most of his skill set involved benefits of him being solo rather then in a group. He did at the very least have hand to hand practiced well and a few choice techniques that could prove useful here. Fire was destructive but some of it wasn't explosive, meaning he could drown the tunnels in flames if he had to.

Houou our gladly accepted his role in the front guard, feeling very reassured that he had Artemis at his side. The woman could take on an army if she felt the need. Houou also devised several methods to cover her while providing support. Houou worries not about a surprise attack, with Atsukos and the other four sets of eyes, nothing would be able to penetrate their tight guard. Then Houous mind began to trail, this was the UHV they were pulling the tail of here. So many technologies were at there disposal that the group was essentially sitting ducks in these foreign tunnels. Luckily had a few methods of protecting them all at once, hopefully it wouldn’t come to that. Suddenly two individuals would begging approaching from the shadows. Houou didn’t tense up, as not to frighten the strangers, but the possibility that the UHV had sleeper agents in disguise was very high. As the two individuals passed, houou began to hear sounds coming from the direction of where the two were headed. Likely to be a camp for vagabonds such as the two others. They could find information there but the risk of alerting the masses was too high.
“i know Magnus said we were to eliminate this underground opportunity... however, we should consider those who may be camped here, the women and children amongst them especially. We can’t let our battle spread to those innocent lives.”
Houou shot a quick glance over his shoulder, meeting those crimson eyes. The eye contact was to signify to Atsuko that Houou was very adamant about this detail. Houou shot his eyesight back forward as not to neglect his duties and pressed on down the tunnel, hands at the ready to cast his justice at any moment.

The sound levels fell drastically as the group headed down the quiet side of the tunnel, eventually dropping to the point where the only audible sounds were the dripping of water, the group's own footsteps, and even their breath. It was cold and dark, the latter especially so when they passed through areas where the torches were unlit, which was getting more and more frequent. They would pass by another staircase with only a few hobos sitting quietly around it, and beyond that they would find a very similar stretch of tunnel. The most notable markings on the floor were a couple of scuff marks that led down a side route and a spot that looked like it was a recently abandoned hobo camp.
"No one else is suspicious of these people?" She asked in a stage whisper, paranoia growing. She didn't like the uncleanliness of the tunnels themselves. Plagues had been spread with less, and her uneasiness was only growing down here. The longer she tried to calm herself, the more she remembered how she'd literally been stabbed in the back by the UHV. She worried her bottom lip and touched a hand lightly to the tunnel wall, hoping to get a mental image of what lie on the other side and down the curve of the next tunnel. "Anyone else paranoid that these tunnels are all the same? Swear I've passed those transients before." She put her hands together for a Kai, but didn't expend any chakra yet.

Atsuko glanced at the transients at Artemis mention, his sharingan bright and showing to the strangers as he looked them over in brief detail. There was no other real reaction though, nor did he motion for the group to stop. Once he was sure he was out of ear shot he would speak his mind, though still wary of his surroundings.
"Of course I am. However we can't go interrogating every stranger we come across. All we can do is keep our guard up. If i see any of them that look particularly clean I'll let you know. Our numbers however are more then enough to make it clear we aren't to be messed with lightly, so they will be careful themselves if they are around. For now lets keep pressing onwards"
Truly he did feel a bit unprepared but there wasn't much they could do. They were walking into an enemies base after all, an unknown one at that. Even worse, it was underground. Almost every advantage was for their opponents. All that the Shishin held was the element of surprise. Atsuko held himself as they walked as if he belonged here, his body language confident and eyes remaining unwavering. If they had been sent to an area outside it would have lended a lot more options but as of now all they could do is go forward. Artemis would see similar distributions of homeless down the tunnel, primarily clustering around the stairs leading aboveground. She would also, however, notice what looked to be a heavy door down the side route denoted by the scuff marks. There was a room beyond the door, but its contents were a mystery to the technique, as though she were looking for faces in a puddle of oil. The best she'd be able to tell was that there were a few people's worth of Chakra in the room, but their locations and magnitudes were unknown.
Those with exceptional vision in the dark might notice a single word etched into the ceiling of the tunnel, a spot where the grime was thinnest: "Yogoregakure". It would seem someone was being cheeky about the state of the tunnels, calling them the Village "Hidden in the Filth".
Then came the sound of a distant blast, like several hundred explosive tags being set off far underground.
Taketori had largely ignored the homeless people gathered in the tunnels, though the number of them was certainly surprising. He reckoned that, when gathered altogether, they would outnumber his small tribe. Their living condition in a city such as this would be the equivalent of a family relegated to living in the latrine pits back home, it was unthinkable. Something had failed these people.
A distant, booming rumble brought Taketori out of his high-alert trance. He looked towards the more sensitive members of the squad for guidance, maintaining his silence as had been recommended earlier. He was capable of a great deal of patience but instincts screamed at him that something had just begun.
She released her hands and didn't cast the jutsu, instead choosing to reveal her findings and waiting to see if anyone of them found the tunnels to be additionally suspicious. "I extended my chakra as far as I could; it's much of the same with the transients and all. The side route with all the scuffs leads to a heavy door. There's about a handful of people on the other side of it, but of course this isn't my specialty so I have no idea how strong they are." She turned her head to catch the eyes of her compatriots, then faced forward again. Suddenly, a huge explosion boomed through the tunnels, though it sounded distant. She nearly jumped out of her skin, left hand clutching her brass knuckles.
"Don't tell me I imagined that," she muttered bitterly.
Atsuko was interested in what might have been behind the heavy doors but when there was a sudden boom from down below his mind changed quickly. If those hobos were still nearby he'd motion for them to get going, he wasn't sure how messy things were about to get.
He then signaled for the group to move forward. In fact he'd pick up the pace, following the source of the sound or at least attempting to locate it through the tunnels. The group, leaving behind the door, would eventually come to a section of the tunnel where the ground was sagging. Between some of the cracks in the floor filtered a few shafts of light, beyond which could be seen what looked to be a mineshaft with a couple of guards loitering in it. If the group so chose, it was entirely feasible that they could wrestle a chunk of the floor out of the way and get the drop on the guards without raising any suspicions.
As houou and Artemis pressed forward setting the pace through the tunnels, all of a sudden, they would booth hesitate to step any further. The rest of the group would immediately take notice as they stopped advancing forward. Houou would drop to one knee and investigate the structural integrity of the floor before walking any further. Almost instantly houou would take notice of the handful of guards standing just below them. He alerted the others to the enemies presence, knowing they would all want to know that advancements were made toward the UHV secret base. As they all huddled behind him, peaking through the cracks and assessing the situation for themselves, houou formed 3 hand seals ending with the snake seal. Quickly he pointed his left palm toward the floor focusing on the guards loitering below. Slowly his fingers began to extend, taking the form of thick small vines instead of tree roots. The vines were thin enough to slide through several of the cracks in the floor. Once on the other side of the floor, the roots began to split off and spread above the guards below as if blanketing their ceiling above.
“I’m going to bring those guys up here. Leave one survivor for interrogation.”
Houou stood shocked as those worlds exited his mouth. Maybe more of his father had rubbed off on him than he’d like to believe. The vines had finally spread in great numbers, houou was confident that the sheer number would overwhelm the soldiers below. Suddenly Houou was no longer stealth-fully maneuvering his vines. They were moving at full speed and lashing at the UHV soldiers. Before the soldiers knew it they would be entirely wrapped up in vines that were becoming ever tighter. Then with great force Houou motioned to pull the vines upwards towards them. Knowing that he needed to keep one of the soldiers from blacking out, so he pulled on of the guards ahead of the others, smashing him upwards through the ceiling. From the perspective of shishin, the first UHV guard would come rocketing through the floor beneath them, momentum stopping as his body smacked the cracked rocks. His body you’ll fall to the floor lifeless as the other two wrapped up guards would come flying though the very same hole in the floor. These guards would be left alive with far less severe injuries than the first however, there were still short of breath and confronted with vines that didn’t seem to stop tightening around them. Houou would fall to the ground sitting on his butt at the very same time that the last two wrapped up UHV guards would smack the floor. As he sat on the floor he would look through the hole in the floor before him, keeping a lookout for any reinforcements that may arrive from below near these strange mineshafts.

Artemis manipulated the moisture in the air as Houou made quick work of the guards. The one that was still alive kicked out as he struggled against the pressure of the roots. He was silent beyond the few grunts that escaped in his struggle. Artemis took the ball of water between her hands and dipped it over his head, focusing her chakra to keep the water in a secure shape. Once it was over the guard's head, Houou would be able to loosen up the root a bit so he wasn't dying too quickly.
"What's the operation down here? What is the UHV doing in the tunnels? Where are the rest of your troops?" Artemis whispered slowly and carefully, doing her best to continue her questioning without losing concentration on her technique.

The echoes of the guard's thoughts were muddled as he sat on the edge of consciousness. It would come out that the UHV was mining under the tunnels and shipping the materials straight up to the Shinjiro Factory. There were troops all throughout the mine, but there were also miners taken from the low-income population in the area. He wasn't privy to all the information, but the guard remembered something about a Shinjiro operation running alongside the mine and an odd room buried deep in the mineshaft. If they looked into the source of the explosion, the only words that would come out of his noggin were: "White floor."
The mineshaft below ran in two directions: to the left, it was a winding, poorly lit corridor terminating in a steel door under heavy guard; to the right, it opened up onto a well-lit cavern filled with both miners and fully-armored UHV guards.
Taketori was impressed at the abilities and tactical thinking his new family displayed, They had managed to silently take out the soldiers, disguised with the explosion earlier that was causing rubble to fall, and then interrogate them afterward. Heading down below, they followed the mineshaft down the winding corridor to the left. The poor lighting provided for additional shadows the group could use to blend and hide in.
Coming up towards the well guarded steel door, it was clear there was something of value behind it. Taketori nodded at Shalamoana as a signal and then moved his way towards the front of the party, assessing the guards from cover. A corridor without much room to maneuver was perfect for Taketori. While the others at least had some tactical bones in their bodies, Taketori was a Berserker by nature and brute force was his favored tactic to pummel away at opponents.
Exploding out of the shadows was probably something out of a nightmare. Taketori was a large man, standing at 6'9", and with his [ Dance of the Larch ] activated, his body was covered in bones that would slash, pierce, and intercept any incoming attacks. His right arm, covered in sharp bones, was held out for the use of a Breaking Lariat, filled with bones, to slam the front-most guard either into one of the guards behind him or into the steel door for extra damage. He could feel his bloodlust bubbling as he rushed to engage in close-quarters combat.

• The third of Kimimaro's five dances. From the body, several bones pop out all at once. The stronger the opponent's physical attack, the more powerful the counter attack is, dealing severe damage. The sudden defense, combined with the needle-like bones high killing ability, makes way for a technique which potential his high for battle. The bones can be used to block or trap an opponent's strikes. In addition to being an unwelcome surprise for opponents, it makes him basically untouchable at close range. If an opponent would start to get close to him, he would start to spin rapidly slashing the foe in multiple areas of their body.
---- Breaking Lariat: C-rank (20 Sta) [B-rank Strength] A clothesline variation where the practitioner charges the opponent, attempting to slam their arm semi-diagonally against the target’s neck and chest, while applying downward force to smash them into the ground. The first step to a stealthy combat was ensuring that there was absolutely no chance of any sound escaping and Shalamoana had just the trick for this. He beckoned his allies through and seeing them enter the tunnel immediately turned his hatsuyuki which he had blown so that the sound would be dulled and then prepared the other two for use. Following this he and Shazwanga launched themselves into the fray following closely behind Taketori.
Once more from the shadows two dark shapes emerged. A toucan the size of two men 11ft tall with a wingspan so large it would put a pterodactyl to shame (though likely nobody knew what that was) and a beak large enough to eat a man whole and that was exactly what the toucan did. Shazwanga made his attack hoping that in the moment of fear he could catch a guard at his most vulnerable when his immediate reaction was to merely fear for his life. In essence he wanted to catch the guard off guard. He immediately began to chomp down with his beak.
On the other hand Shalamoana weaved another hatsuyuki and then began his assault standing in the midst of all the guards but taking care to not affect Taketori or Shazwanga the two hatsuyuki began to merge becoming a fearsome whirlwind of cold air. A whirlwind began to form on his position expanding outwards from him. His aim was to use the whirlwind to threaten the guards so that they would have to funnel themselves either to take on Taketori in single combat (something that he himself was not keen on the idea of) or try and take on Shazwanga a bird twice their size in combat or a third less intelligent option. They could try and run straight through the whirlwind of freezing air. He himself began to move back staying concentrated on the whirlwind.
