Candidate Isilje (HR)To be completely honest, she was enraptured by the little Demon. He was so elegant and beautiful. She could remember that his shell had made her a bit nervous when she'd watched it, making her wonder at his very being, and now she understood why he'd been so....well. Much. He was a Bronze, and a lovely and powerful one too. Shifting on her feet, the extremely pale girl shuffled a bit in to the midst of the girls, trying to keep herself from view. She didn't make many friends, and for some reason, it felt odd to be here, like she was out of place. C'yx and Blue IrisethIriseth was quick to wrap his wing over his beloved Eosphoth. Ah, but his hearts were hers. She'd stolen his attentions so easily, even if His thought it was silly. Slowly, the elegant blue head raised to look, A beautiful young Bronze at that.. Very sure of himself down there. A proper Bronze, this one. Behaving like that, really. At least he knew himself. It was something that they could all hope for each of the young ones. Strange, though, that he was so alone. I can not tell you how much it makes me glad to spend this hatching with you. Such a smitten boy.

Danzik and Green EosphothDanzik looked up briefly to watch as her dear bonded curled up so contently against the side of her blue beau, taking a moment to scan the stands to find the dragon's rider. She passed another glance back at the sands, making sure Lennik was still safe (and from what she could tell, eyeballing the bronze currently on the sands) before she found a seat next to C'yx. "Here for the festivities?" she inquired in her same, gravelly tone. It hadn't changed since she'd been an assistant Candidatemaster after all. Eosphoth, on the other hand, was content to rest the top of her head underneath Iriseth's, allowing herself to join in with the humming song that Vimiath and Blundarth both thrummed now. Yes. Mine hopes that perhaps he, or any others this day, will finally choose her son. I try to hope as well, though it is....difficult to know what a dragon would want in any besides my own. she knew that Iriseth would know what she meant. Eosphoth's needs and wants and desires had been only hers and she had known only Danzik would suit any of them. In that same way, those of these children were theirs alone. No dragon could teach a candidate to be what was desired by one not themselves. It is the only thing that will make this evening better than spending time with you.Danzik nearly choked on the sap she could feel from her green. You stop that. E'mel and Blue BrietethAs he waited for Uridith, the nervous little blue shifted nervously back and forth across his chosen perch. Both to check for E'mel (who had taken a seat front and center to watch the excitement), but to also keep any strangers from taking the spot he was saving special for his mama. I wouldn't have taken you for such a mama's boy after taking so long to let her know you weren't dead. E'mel teased and the blue sent a nervous wave of affection and guilt back. w-Well you're still m-my favorite. Honest to goodness! Brieteth keeled and was rewarded for his assurances with nearly a tidal wave of love. Both from E'mel and Uridith as the gold finally found him. He cheeped, like an anxious puppy glad to see their master come home as he moved out of the dead center of the perch to allow her a place to land before easily settling up against her as she wrapped a wing around him. Still only the bronze for now. After the touching I was...worried they'd all be hatched and everybody would be dead... he admitted grimly. E'mel thought otherwise, and he was right. I like it when he is right. he rambled up to his mother. He was the safest and most loved dragon right then.

Oer loosely nodded once in acknowledgement of Kambri's arm bump, his eyes still trained on the bronze. The hatchling moved with little urgency, seemingly content to heighten anticipation before he made a final choice, like a master storyteller with a captive audience. He lent Oerlen borrowed bravado just by his proximity, and the candidate stood a bit taller as the dragon wove past human feet and calves, every move deliberate.
Who would he choose? Would he find a partner who needed the boost his confidence gave? Or would he pick a like mind? And what of the others? Oer wanted to spare a glance for the remaining eggs, but he quickly decided not to. They would each have everyone's attention eventually.

The Siren Egg, wanting some attention of its own, began to wiggle. Softly at first, but then a little bit more vehemently. A beautiful hum emanated from the lovely egg, soft notes climbing upward in a crescendo.
Who among the watchers watched it? Did not someone among those on the Sands want to see the Siren? A note of petulance joined that glorious spiral of sound, surprising sour.

Yevalee paused in their chore, head tipped, listening and with a soft ‘excuse me’, made their way back to the candidate dorm at a speedy walk that wasn’t truly a run. They changed into the robe and sandals and took a moment to unpin their hair from under the scarf and ran a hand through the wavy mass before braiding it as they walked to the sands. They tied it with a ribbon before looking out at the sands. Everyone was in white, not surprising but they still disliked the color choice. It felt wrongish? Almost as if they were a target or just lost in a sea. They shook their head and slowly moved onto the hot sands, looking over Vimiath. She looked so tired and ill. Hopefully Talela started to recover. They did look over the bronze but the demon wasn’t for them. They already knew it and well, Demon bronze did as well. Though he was a pretty thing. They glanced around and paused, catching sight of Oerlan and someone else that looked vaguely familiar outside the candidate barracks. Yevalee moved their way, keeping a careful eye on the bronze hatching before settling nearby. Just joining the other Black Sand Hold folks

Ryala
Standing next to the slight pale form of a girl from High Reaches, Ryala watched the bronze form that seemed to be ever so confidently weaving it's way over to the candidates. Knowing that neither she nor any of the other girls were likely to be if of interest to him, she continued to watch as he now paced amongst the white robed gathering. Which of the guys would this showy bronze choose? Perhaps it was just her, but he seemed to be searching for someone in particular, as though he already knew who it was that he wanted and was only trying to find them.
When the sound from the pale Siren egg began, Ryala allowed her focus to shift to the pink egg. This one, for her, held more promise. ~~~~~~~~~~~
Ladellan
As the bronze hatchling drew nearer, Del kept still. There was no need for him to do anything other than watch and wait, after all. True, the dracling seemed to have hatched from an egg that he'd deliberately passed by a few sevendays before, when they'd all been invited to touch the eggs. But now it was the dragons' turns to do the same with them. So it was no surprise to him that the bronze one would stop here and there, checking them out.

Jagmund
The red haired Candidate ignored what was going on around him, his focus on the Demon. The bronze dragonet kept weaving around the Candidates, clearly in no hurry to find his. Jagmund chuckled to himself. Enjoying all the attention on you? Did you hatch first just to have a moment in your private spotlight?
He had been to other Hatchings and the behaviour of the dragonets was everything from entertaining to somewhat frightening, depending on the personality of the young one. From what he felt at the Touching, Jagmund was not surprised the egg had been a bronze or that he was carrying on as he was.
Then he heard sound, and another hint of movement. Soon, bronze, you will not be the lone dragonet on the sands, Jagmund thought with amusement.

Martirae
The humming seemed to be coming from more than just the stands, but also....her dark eyes trailed over the sands towards the eggs, brows raising. Which one was adding their own voice to the hums of the adults who now lingered, waiting eagerly for this brood to hatch?
Was it that one? Or perhaps that one? Martirae allowed her thoughts to drift out to the eggs, one at a time, as if she felt somehow her prodding inquiries would make something happen. Finally her eyes settled on the pink egg she'd not touched.
Is it you? it was pointed, direct, and she was fairly certain she was right. Who was hiding in there? She pondered briefly, but didn't allow herself to get to far away with those sorts of thoughts. No. She'd stay firmly planted in the moment, not a future that could change and would change for many on the sands.

VimiathA little bit of blue swirled through the queen’s eyes as Vorzeth delivered his poetic speech. She sent him the equivalent of a smile in her thoughts, warm and grateful for his concern. His color meant nothing to her; she was long in the habit of freely giving her love to any male whom she could charm. The brown would have been taken into her court with no hesitation, if she was still well enough to preside over it. Her current mate was Faranth-sent – though she was not as capable of receiving Blundarth’s heart-felt offerings and comforts as she wished to be, she appreciated them more than she could convey. His large form was like a bulwark, protecting her and the eggs from harm, and the meats he presented were far superior to what she was used to… she felt terrible for leaving them, but the thought of eating made her feel even worse. If she got well… if Talela got well… when Talela got well, she would eat every last carcass, even if it gave her thicktail, to please her Blundarth. At the sound of her daughter’s voice, Vimiath felt a fresh pang of embarrassment. She knew that her condition was causing a lot of concern, and hated it. She loved being the center of attention, but not like this. For a moment, she longed for Blundarth to just curl around her and cover her with his wings, keeping all of the eyes away from her. Thank you, Neith. I have all I need, for the moment, she said, making her thoughts as strong and steady as she could. She wished to allay her daughter’s fears, even if they weren’t the closest of families. Again, her eyes went to the figure that she feared. She knew what she had to do, but… fear did tend to make one hesitate.

The bronze finally got down to business and started looking for His (still taking his time, but at least he was doing more than swaggering around), politely picking his way around any females in his path. It was a path Dezerac kept an eye on, in case it brought the dragonet in his direction and it wasn't feeling quite so polite. There was a possibility that it might be his - the same possibility that any of its clutchmates might be - but he didn't allow himself to hang his hopes on any of those possibilities, not when he'd only been disappointed before. It was safer to simply be patient, and assume nothing.
The Siren began to hum, and he split his attention to look to it. It was one of many he hadn't gotten to at the Touching, no guesses as to what might be within.

AlyaShe offered a bright and sunny smile in return, but when he mentioned Vimiath.... well, it threatened to slip. Alya forced herself to widen her eyes, about to play dumb and ask him just what he meant? But.... another glance at the gold was enough to make her bite her lip. "I haven't either." She finally said, shifting her weight to try and alleviate some of the burning from the soles of her feet. "It's like she's--she's mourning. Do you think her rider will die?" She made sure to whisper, but oh, it was enough to make her eyes sting! Talela couldn't die, especially not today! A sudden hum made her start, and Alya realized it was coming from the egg she had touched just before everything had gone crazy. "Do eggs normally? hum?" She asked, a little awed. Iathe She could feel her spine stiffening as the redhead narrowed her eyes, and Iathe bit down on her tongue to keep from baring her teeth--but suddenly their hands were clasped, and all of the tension drained out of her in an instant. She'd never back down from a fight... but today, of all days, it would be incredibly disrespectful. "Iathe." She offered back, pausing as another girl came to join them--Kiri? Yes, that was what she'd heard. Iathe didn't smile, but nodded tightly to the newcomer, her nerves too frayed for pleasantries. Of course, being told that suddenly she had people to watch her back.... Her lips pulled awkwardly into a half smile, and after taking a deep breath, Iathe nodded a bit more normally. "Getting mauled won't impress anyone." Though some of the boys might think otherwise. Speaking of which, she held her breath as the bronze hatchling came close... but he almost daintily moved past them, careful not to crowd. How.... unexpectedly thoughtful.

Faren's attention was quick to turn. While the bronze was lovely, he had already dismissed both she and many of the girls. She gave a soft mental smile into her song, which had stuttered briefly. ~Of course we want to see you! When you are ready to make yourself known, we shall see you all, in all of your glory!~ Faren remembered touching that one. She was so welcoming and inviting, and she wondered if she hadn't been alone in that sort of welcome.

Candidate Gavryl“If he considered himself a host, however,” Gavryl replied to Cedarian as the bronze ignored the women, “Then he has forgotten nearly half his guests. I will grant you that he is not hurrying through introductions, that is certain.” When Shahera chimed in, he inclined his head thoughtfully before making a gesture with his arms as if to say perhaps, “That would be most in line with his behaviour thus far, true. Did you get to touch the egg? I found it asked questions, prying questions... and when I moved on, it felt as though its gaze remained on me even with the chaos of the Touching's closing. I'm not sure what to make of it but I think he plots privately, whatever he plans.” When Dolmar said he'd been pulled away, Gavryl nodded, “That's unfortunate. He asked interesting questions, things to make you think.” Secretly, the youth was just glad for the conversation at it was distracting him from the tension and hope and fear that currently tugged at his heartstrings... but the more he spoke, the more he feared he sounded stupid or foolish. More generally to the people around him, he posed the question, “Did you favour the egg when you encountered it?” He'd been neutral for the most part, more intrigued by the questions than anything else. And then the Siren Egg began to hatch, music emanating from it briefly before the notes became something more like a screech and Gavryl's attention returned to the eggs to watch it rock to a fro. He hadn't had a chance to meet that one... “What was that one like? Do you remember?” He leaned over to speak quietly, shuffling a bit so as to keep the bronze in his field of vision in case it decided to explode through the candidates. [There's a lot of people near Gavryl and company so tag to those nearby]

L'rel and Devith L'rel and Devith had done their duty, they had transported a number of candidates and other less important guests over to their sister weyr so now they had taken time to watch the hatching. The green and her rider had settled high up in the majestic hatching sands, but close enough that they could still see what was going on. L'rel sat content between his beloveds two front legs with his note pad set on his lap, supported on a hard wood board for ease of writing, he had already made a crude sketch of the hatching sands and the placement of the eggs. He had taken an educated guess to the placement of the bronze's eggs, but with the littered shell, that wasn't too hard. On the opposite page he had made a few notes on the sorry state of the queen dragon and then started to note which dragons had come out in which order, then marked the corresponding number on the egg sketch. He had no doubt Western would also be taking down all such details but he liked to keep his own records. Devith had stretched her neck out to get a good look at the candidates, poor nervous creatures, though there was some excitement as well the gentle green felt distress for their fear. She had also spotted the candidate that they had flown, the one so traumatized after the hatching. She couldn't resist, she stretched out her mind to Nebbi for some last minute reassurance while the sands were still occupied by the solo bronze. 'Remember, don't be afraid, stay welcoming, if there is a dragon for you, they will come, and move out of the way if you need to, they don't have good control yet. good luck.' "Devith, you know you can't do that, not at a hatching' 'It's still early.'
The green was unrepentant.

LennikApparently overhearing a conversation not far away, Lennik sidled over to join in - mostly out of reassurance. Reassurance to bury the anger inside of him when he thought too hard about it; "Auntie Tally is still fairly young and there are a lot of healers tending to her. She's going to be fine." he insisted to Ayla, keeping his tone relatively calm for how..conflicted he felt about that particular fact. Still, with Vimiath looking the way she did, it was a litmus test for how Taelela was doing and he didn't like it. Having answered what he felt of the girl's question, he then nodded to Rio. Meepfur This was what you wanted. Tsunake 2.0 WAS WHAT MEEP ASKED FOR, NOT ME. I AM INNOCENT.
