The crowd stood and watched as the leg was hooked, the ref dropping down to the mat.
One!
Two!
Thr-
A late kick out, but Avari turned his body to the cheers from the crowd. The hype was continuing to build, and the fans just didn't want to see this match end any time soon!

Marcus was sure he had Avari beat there. Imagine his surprise when he kicks out just before the three. Marcus sits back on his knees, glaring at the referee. The ref assures him that it was only a two count and Marcus swears under his breath, perhaps the first sign of true frustration he's shown in the match thus far. It's going to take more to put the young Fusion away, and he's prepared to dish out more. Reaching back into his repertoire, he attempts to pull Avari up in a front facelock, this time going for a move he'd taken from his first Wrestlemania opponent, the Jackhammer

Dazed, dizzy and bruised.. Avari couldn't help being lifted up easily by Marcus, trying to get his head back on his shoulder after the hard-hitting spear.
His head and neck are quite quickly and firmly locked under the arm of the Damone and he feels his body lifted in to the air!
The crowd went silent for a moment as Fusion was lifted high in to the air.. and was kept there, swaying around and held in place by Marcus!

Marcus occasionally likes to show off....then again he's blatantly been ripping Goldberg's move off since he debuted here. With that being said, he'd look to complete the slam and hook the leg for the pin

The jackhammer lands, and it lands hard!
The wind seems knocked out of Fusion as he lays on the mat, as the camera pans to several fans standing with their hands on their hand, unable to comprehend what had just happened.
Marcus hooked Avari's leg for the pinfall, the crowd almost silent for the first time this evening. The ref dropped and started his count.
One!
Two!
Thre-
A last-gasp thrust of his shoulder from Avari as the crowd cheered loudly, the heart of the smaller man showing, even after a spear and a jackhammer!
The ref stood up and called the 'Two!' count to the side, the crowd continuing to cheer and shout for their new fan favourite!

Marcus ends up sitting on the mat after the kickout. Yet another close call and once again, Avari had proven resilient enough to stay in the match. Marcus feels like he'll have to try something a little different, so he rolls out onto the apron. He gets up again and climbs the turnbuckle, not something he would commonly do but desperate times and all. Once at the top, he would wait for Avari to stand to go for a diving clothesline

The crowd continued their cheering as Avari started to get to his feet slowly, but also as Marcus was daring to go up higher!
Not paying much attention at the moment to what the crowd were cheering for, Fusion stood up and turned around, as Marcus jumped..
Out of instinct Avari jumped up in the air for a dropkick!

Marcus may have miscalculated, as instead of taking the smaller man's head off and leaving him in a heap, he gets a foot to the face and chest as the dropkick clocks him, instead knocking Marcus the hard way to the mat

The move connects and the crowd all stand on their feet, cheering what seemed like both men on to continue!
Avari doesn't stand immediately, instead taking a few moments to lay on his back and breath, taking that rest period.
He rolls towards the turnbuckle at last, using it to get to his knees then his feet.

Marcus remains on the mat, casually checking his teeth. He has to move eventually and rolls to the side to push himself up to a knee first, then back to his feet

Avari turns and puts his back against the turnbuckle, squatting down slightly and holding the ropes on either side.
He watches and waits to see what Marcus does at this point, wanting to decide the best next action to take.

Marcus turns his gaze to Avari finally, expecting his opponent to already be coming at him. Instead, Avari is in the corner, but he's too low for Marcus to go charging in. It would seem that there's a stalemate for the moment

With the two men eyeing each other from opposite sides of the ring, there is a pause from the crowd for a moment.. that turns in to clapping, then a cheer, then a raucous applause from them.
So far this match, an unexpected one, was the highlight of the night.
Avari looks to the side at the fans and nods lightly to himself, knowing that they're putting on a real show.
He steps forward a couple of small steps and leans down a little, taunting Marcus to come forward with his index finger.

Marcus has no problem going forward, and indeed he does, but he's not coming in light this time. As he steps close, he would drop to a knee and attempt to catch Avari with a quick uppercut to the jaw

Avari honestly thought this opponent would come in for a lock-up, and so was taken aback by the sudden shot to his jaw, which rocked him for a moment.
He quickly shook his head and retaliated by attempting a hard kick to the side of Marcus' head!
