The creatures hissed. "Yesss....." they hissed, getting even closer to him, the atmosphere growing more and more heavy around him.

"Can we just get this over with then? You don't seem to like conversation," Pardonner sighed as his eyes shifted to the side where the door was at the top of the stairs. "I don't like pain..."

The shadows circled in on Pardonner and touched his skin, sending searing pain through his body, and as Artemis heard him, she scooted father away from the door.

Pardonner winced at the pain while biting his lower lip. He was holding back the screams he wanted to let out. Apparently Nightengale and Artemis were doing this to toughen him up and he wasn't sure if he'd manage that. He wondered how long he'd be down in the basement with these creatures this time.

The pain seemed to increase as a couple more creatures came in contact with his skin. 'He smells so goooooood...' one of them whispered, giving him the look as if her were a peice of meat.

"Smell? Really? That's the best you could come up with? I mean, not even 'I can't wait to began stripping the flesh from his bones' type of stuff?" Pardonner began laughing when he heard the creatures even though the pain was becoming excruciatingly painful. "Lymbo had alot more terrifying things being said."

The creatures hissed at him and one of them scratched him across the chest, leaving a long, burning line of scarlet blood. "Sssshut up boy.." they said in their malevolent voices.

"I'm sorry. It's just, all you could think of was your sense of smell? I mean you could have described the scent more to where it would catch more of you guys' attentions, not just 'he smells delicious'," Pardonner hissed covering the scratch with one of his hands. He glanced at the injury on his chest and made a gagging motion. The sight of blood sickened him. "Ow..."

Another long scratch appeared acrossed his back, and the creatures hissed with excitement. One of them licked the new line of blood along his back, and snickered lightly in delight. "He doessss tassste delicioussss..." the creature hissed in a pleased tone, the others now swarming even closer to Pardonner.

Pardonner flinched as he pulled his legs closer to his chest. He felt the pull of muscles that made the scratches become more painful. He was keeping the soft whimper inside of him hoping he wouldn't let the tears in his eyes start sliding down his face.

The door at the top of the stairs opened slowly, as another long scratch appeared across Pardonner's lower back, this one sending a searing pain and burning feeling throughout his body. As Artemis stepped down the first few steps, she looked at Pardonner curiously. "Your time is up..." she said, her tone soft, as she watched him.

Pardonner glanced up at Artemis as a couple of tears slid down his face. His time was up? He didn't have to sit dodwn here anymore? He didn't have to listen to the crazy creatures talk about how he smelled delicious and tasted delicious? He stood up slightly trembling only for his legs to give out on him. His eyes shifted away from the creatures and Artemis as he gave a small smile. He always laughed at himself when his legs gave out on him.

As Artemis walked down the rest of the steps, the creatures backed away in fear. She moved over to Pardonner and knelt down beside him, a doleful look upon her face. "Do you need help?" she asked him in a soft voice, her expression now becoming blank, no emotion to be seen in her blue eyes.

"Yes actually. I could use some help getting up," he smiled lightly glancing at her while using his shirt sleeve to wipe the tears off his face.

Artemis reached out and took Pardonner's hand, then stood, helping him to his feet. She waited for him, to see if he could walk on his own, or if her needed some assistance from her.
