Clorogne sighed, "Fine...but you ride behind me." He straightened on and Akila held onto his waist as she'd learned to do whenever on this horse, and he suddenly took off down the trail through the forest, and towards where he'd sent his troops, around the edges of the town.

Aleera immediately brightened. "Oh thank you Sire! I will, I promise!" She turned her mare and followed behind the king, staying just a mere horselength behind him. 'Here we come Markus. You'd better be ready.'

Markus was more than ready. He and his soldiers waited at strategic points around the soldiers. So far, everything was quiet, none of the mayhem that Aleera had predicted. Yet. That was the key words. Markus wanted to make sure the king saw exactly how futile and pointless all his soldiers were. He wanted to drive home the point of how powerful the rebellion was.

Clorogne nodded, and continued faster, coming to the edges he slowed, looking around carefully as they trotted along the path, and Akila looked back at Aleer, biting her bottom lip. Frightened by Aleera's 'vision' she held tight to the King's waist and he growled elbowing her in her bad shoulder. Instantly one of her hands let go. "Do not restrict my movement." He warned, turning the last bend.

Aleera forced herself not to look around too much, to try and not find Markus. She didn't want to give him away. She trotted along obediently behind the king, taking in the silence. There was nothing but the talk of the soldiers. As they rounded the last bend, they could see the soldiers. Those on duty looked alert while those who were off were resting and enjoying the sun. They had only a moment to enjoy the scene though before all hell broke loose.

Markus watched the king, waiting patiently. Nothing could make him move before it was time. He watched the king come around the bend. He gave him to the count of three, hoping he would relax slightly. 'One.....Two.....And three!' when he reached three, Markus swung his bow up, pulled back and fired, barely pausing to sight on the King's side. He was on the right side of the path so if it hit, it would strike only the king, not going through him to hit Akila. Markus was an expert marksman. Within second of his own arrow being launched, a hundred more rained down on the soldiers, causing pandemonium.

The arrow struck into his armor, but Clorogne barely felt it, heaving his large sword from it's sheath, and yelled, "Aleera, back! Men! The horse shoe maneuver!" Most who were not hurt yet had hopped onto their horses, raising their shields to protect themselves and take form, and a few too off into the forest, trying to find the origin of the arrows. The king, however went a completely different way, out into a large field, just out of reach drawing out whomever had dared to shoot him.

Aleera wheeled her horse, cantering back the way they'd come. Once she was out of bow range, she paused, turning to watch the mayhem. She knew she was perfectly safe, but that didn't mean she could act like it. She trembled, biting her lip as she watched the drama unfold.

Markus cursed. He'd been trying to hit the small area between the armor plates but had missed. He smiled though, seeing the king run off. "What are you planning....." He murmured quietly. He didn't think the man would be scared off by a single arrow. Otherwise, this whole situation would have been over long time ago. Seeing where the king stopped, Markus chuckled. "Trying to draw me out, eh? Very well. I'll play along." Leaving his men to bombard the soldiers from their hiding spots, he took flight. He burst into the air above the trees, still clutching his bow. "Looking for someone, Your Highness?" He called mockingly, hovering in place.

The king turned to face The thing in the sky, and threw his sword with deadly strength towards the winged boy. e had pretty good aim, so he was sure he'd atleast clip the boy's wing.

Akila looked up at the figure, the sun casting a shine in her eyes, and she out her head down to block it out with her hood. She was hoping the King had forgotten about her, when she felt something pushed into her lap. A dull looking bow he'd pulled from a pack on his saddle, "Shoot!" He ordered, and she took it, blinking,
"I can only use one arm master..." Just trying to move the other cast pain throughout her.

Markus grinned mockingly, watching the king. His black wings pumped steadily, holding him in place. Seeing what the man below was doing, it would have worked if Markus hadn't done something unexpected. Rather than try to swerve, he simply folded his wings and dropped. He heard the sword whistle past him, then he flared his wings back open. He winced slightly at the strain but stayed afloat. He began flapping to gain altitude again. "Try again, you idiot! You can't hit a bird in the air!" He yelled with a laugh. Unfortunately, now the king would know he could dodge like that and would be more prepared. Markus drew his bow up, taking sight one the king, judging the distance.

"Fine." He growled, taking the bow from Akila, "You're no help to me." He hissed as he lifted the bow shooting at Markus, and then suddenly right below him too, and Akila squeaked, covering her eyes.
He had nothing to say to a thing such as the one in the air.

Markus grinned at the incoming arrow and folded his wings almost lazily. Then he saw the second arrow. He wretched his wings open and threw himself to the side but it was too late. The arrow punched into the muscle between the first and second joints of his wing. He bit his lip, not crying out. Ignoring the excruciating pain, Markus forced himself to fly and not fall. He moved closer to the King and put an arrow to string. Taking careful aim, he loosed it at the man, aiming for a small opening in the metal armor.

Clorogne grinned in satisfaction when he made the hit, and backed the horse up, trying to avoid the arrow, but it struck the horse, who tumbled, causing both The King and Akila to fall. Clorogne stood quickly, and Akila scrambled at his feet, trying to stand, although she had to slouch so the leash wouldn't pull at her neck, and she stared up at Markus as the King pulled out a separate dagger.

Markus' eyes widened as he saw Akila fall. He froze for a second, dropping a few feet before he regained control of himself. Setting another arrow to his bow, he trained it on the king. "Just advocate your throne and this is all over." He said simply. It was clearly an effort to hand in the air, his injured wing flapping unsteadily. He wasn't sure how much longer he could keep this up.

"You underestimate me, child!", Clorogne raised the dagger and threw that, too, at the boy's head, aiming to get him low enough to the ground that he could tackle him.

Markus grinned at him. "No. You underestimate ME!!" And with that, he folded his wings again. But rather than just simply dropping, he turned his altitude into speed and power, diving at the King. Markus could feel his wing giving out and knew he couldn't stay in the air much longer. So rather than dodging the knife, he simply dove under it towards the man who threw it.

Aleera watched the confrontation with wide eyes. 'Please be okay Markus. Please. Don't do anything stupid!' She begged silently. She almost groaned when she saw him dive. Great. He was going to make it a hand to hand fight.

Clorogne snapped Akila's leash, and she took off. This was her chance to get free....unless he lived... She went to Aleera, silently gasping for breath.
The King got into a ready stance, and jumped up towards the boy readying a hard kick.
