Cycleing is done when ammonia is 0, nitrate is 0 and nitrites are under 20. (something like that, but I get nitrates and nitrites mixed up all the time... >.<)
Ammonia is 0, NitrItes are 0, and nitrAtes are under 20.
Some people say Nritates under 40 or 45, but lower is deffinatly better (though 0 is no good)

Lol, yupp, other way around. My fingers do it too though, I was talking to someone about nitrites, but I kept typing nitrates and they were like wtf mate.

No, you're good. What are your levels today?ZOMG ammonia is at zero! I did it twice to be sure. I did notice right away it was less smelly and less cloudy. Nitries are still high though, 33 or more. But...don't I need to worry about my ammonie-nitrite bacteria dying off before my nitrites reach zero depending on how long that takes?

OMG FOR REALZ!? It hasn't even been two weeks yet I was expecting this to take a whole month lol. I know for sure I'm getting a clown pleco. Even if it means driving downtown to get it. I know I'm getting that beta in the plant display but I am NOT 100% decided on my mid level schoolers. Which is stressful cause I was gona add them first. I like platies but it makes me nervous that they are like...as big as a beta, and I'm scared my beta would attack them and then I'd have to figure out which to return or spend money setting up yet ANOTHER tank that I really don't have room for. I think my "plan" was to basically walk into a pet store and buy what I like out of what I see lol. Now that I know which fish can go together.
ALSO, um... I realized there is someone in my tank... a snail confused He's an itty bitty lil guy that I assume stowed away with the plants. But I have no idea what KIND of snail he is, if he'll be okay with the snails I get and how the heck I never noticed him lol and how he survived the high ammonia and the currently very high nitrites. Should I attempt to rescue him and put him in my spare tank?

Should I attempt to rescue him and put him in my spare tank? What about Endlers (AKA Feeder Guppies)? They are about 1 1/2 long, and not as colorful as Guppies or Platies (good if you get a feisty Betta). Do you have a good Pet Supermarket around you? I got a King Betta from them for $7, and he was already in a community tank (with Mollies and small Pleco's). Maybe Black Neons for your schoolers? You could get 6 for that size tank its a 15, right? Or a 20 long. Either way... lol). What ever you do: Do NOT add more then 2-3 fish at a time. I would hate for your new guys to die after you have been so exctied about this D= When you get the Pleco, you will have to wait longer for the tank to stablize, as they are big poopers. Other then that, it should only take a week or two untill you can add more fish. Your little hitchhiker is probly a Ramshorn. Get it out if you dont mind billions of snails. They multiply FAST under good conditions (which are bad conditions for fish). Alone, they have an unnoticable bioload, but once they hit 20 or so, they will be as bad as the Pleco. http://www.petfish.net/articles/pics/ramshorn1.jpghttp://www.waysideaquatics.co.uk/images/Black Rams Horn Snail web.JPG

Ammonia is still zero today and nitrites still 3.3 noticed another lil intruder, now HE is microscopic, wasn't sure what it was at first. I don't really wana kill my snailies sad I'll try to keep them under control by not over feeding the fish. Once the tank is cycled anyway.
And no, no good pet supermarket. But friday or saturday I'm gona check out the aquatic store.

Celestial Pearl Danio's, Royal and Rhino Plecos, Glass Cats, Upside Down and Feather Fin cats! ...Ok. I'm done. ninja

Lol. Ours doesn't have quite the selection. They did get in some baby GBRs last time we were there, they looked quite healthy. Then they have the tattooed fish in the next tank over and I remember why I don't buy fish there, lol. I only shop there for emergencies, when I need something and can't get anywhere else since it's the closest pet store and I can bike there.

There are 4 that are around me, and all have different fish selections. The one thing I really like about them is that when I had my goldfish, they are the only pet store around that had Omega One Goldfish Pellets, and I didnt want to feed him flakes because they are suseptable to dropsy >.<
