Attempt 3 - Black Sand - Fire - Unsuccessful;

Diana looked over the items in the box one last time and settled on the black sand. Taking it back to her desk she prayed to the gods that it worked this time. She put the sand into the circle and started her chant once more and concentrated on sending her fear and thoughts of fire though to the circle. She begged in her mind for it to work this time.

As before nothing happened.. She sighed in annoyance. Today just was not her day. This seemed to bother her more than West's comments about her circle. Maybe she really did use too many colors?

[Try 1: Fire, using Phoenix Feather.]

"Pleasure to meet you, Gene," He grinned before turning his attention back on the professor; this next part was something he had never tried before... His race wasn't into elemental summons, after all. Pausing briefly to stare at the circle that he had drawn, he tapped his fingers against the top of the desk, wondering why his familiar was taking forever to get back to him.

As students around him were met with success, he mentally shrugged and decided to try the task without Biskoto, picking up a Phoenix Feather - mainly due to its wonderful colors - and using that as bait for a fire elemental.

Sadly, it wasn't much of a success at all.

"You did excellent," He chuckled softly, looking at the swirl of wind in her summoning circle, "At least, much better than I did." Surprisingly, at least, from his point of view.

[Try 2: Fire, using Burning Incense; Success!]

Biskoto raised her head when she felt someone stroke her, quickly spotting Hel among the students in the room; she was the only one with a pair of wings, after all! Sadly, she lacked hands to wave, but she did end up winking at the ghoul as a form of greeting; yes, magical snakes have eyelids. You mad?

That was when she realized that the students had another task - this one requiring a bit of FEAR manipulation... Which might be why she quickly located her reaper, slithering up onto his lap and then the desk, turning to look at the ghoul that Thanatos had been speaking to.

"Hello there, darling! I'm Bissssskoto!" She greeted her before urging the boil to try again; this time, he fetched some Burning Incense from the box, determined not to fail. Placing the Burning Incense down, he concentrated his FEAR in his hand, pretending that he was holding onto a ball, and then-

"Than darling, look!" His familiar sounded and looked more excited than him when the end of the incense caught fire, burning brightly, consuming the incense at a rather fast pace before flickering, and then... Nothing.

Well, at least it was something. He could deal with that.

Attempt 1 - Charred Bone - Fire - SUCCESS

Enzo glanced around the class as his various fellow students all began to attempt their summoning. Well. This couldn't be too hard could it? His fingers drummed on his desk. Well. That metal-punched purple-haired boil summoned his object de power, he wouldn't be expelled within his first class if he brought in The Boss, right?

Of course not, that'd be stupid.

Straightening up with his hands on his desk on either side of his make-shift circle, he gave a low whistle before sauntering to help himself to a "bait" ingredient. Lovely. Well. If this didn't work, at least this hunk of bone could be put to good use with his vermin.

It only took a beat before the classroom door was flung open, and the massive upright bass came wheeling desperately towards the Reaper Boil, strings humming excitedly.

"It's ok, it's ok, my man," He assured it, giving it's back a good pat. Right. So just. Concentrate your Fear into the circle, huh? Piece. Of. Cake.

Rolling his shoulders, he let Boss start to thrum out a low beat of the notes he had written out in the summoning circle. He could feel it hanging in the air. Feel each rhythm deep in his chest. That certainly *felt* right, and he gave a cocky smile. Who needed lyrics? He could feel it. C'mon, Fire...

Nonsense started to quietly pour out of his mouth, a hand sliding around the edge of his drawing as he spat and scat and skadeedled quietly. There was a flicker in the center... was that a rat?

If it was a rat. It was definitely on fire.

Huh.

When both he and his bass went quiet again, the writhing, flickering flamed thing remained. The Boss gave a pleased series of slipping cords, leaning forward on its wheels to see better, but the Reaper put a hand to it's bridge-nose, "Don't want to get your pretty face singed, now, eh?"

Thoroughly pleased with himself, he flopped back into his chair, content to let the emblazoned rat or whatever it was, run free and chaotic over his desk. Let the whole place burn down, bby, he was smokin'.

Roll 1 - Dry Sponge - Fire - Success

A box! It was hard to pick, almost everything in there would burn. In the end, he picked up the dry sponge, because it was yellow and round, like a sun!

He dropped it in the middle, rolled up his sleeves, and summoned his chainsaw.

"Okay," Pickles said, "You know what they say about fire, don't you?"

Buzz had the good grace to look confused.

"Give a man a fire, he's warm for a day. Set a man on fire, he's warm for the rest of his life."

Buzz snickered, chain rattling with a sound that was like a lumbermill saw choking on a weasel. It wasn't exactly an incantation, but the sponge didn't notice, and promptly burst into flames.  

[Sexy Cocaine]

Attempt 1 - Clump of Dirt (earth)- NOPE

Sharpie? That was a cute name for an intelligent being. Still, she couldn't say much. After naming 100 cats, you lose any and all interest at creativity.

When the boil left for his own desk, Riyo's eyes rested on the box as the teacher explained. Golems? Elements? s**t. As far as elements went, the feline didn't think she was really affiliated with... Any of them. However, she knew she didn't want to be set on fire, drowned, or sent plummeting to her untimely demise.

Which left one thing.

Earth. Fantastic. It only made sense for her to pick that. Approaching the desk, the demon's ears fell back as she scooped up a handful of the dirt in the box. Well, that'd probably stick under her nails for awhile, but as long as she passed this, she didn't rightfully give a s**t.

Carefully, Riyo placed it in the center and sighed. Jack, she wished she had a cat that would explain what she needed to do. Uhh. Okay. Well. Here went nothing.

No, really. There went nothing. The feline concentrated, nothing happened.

... She was thinking about cats again.

(( Attempt 1: Small Paper Fan (Air) - Success ))

Okay. It was game time.

Ignoring the perfect opportunity to harass Miss Rainbows in the face of her summoning failures, West took a deep breath instead and strode over to the box. He chose three of the paper fans, mostly for their crisp folds—though he did pick one with a bright red skull on it, just because—and remained standing at his desk when he got back to it, lining up two of his pieces of Air bait in a neat row. The third he dropped in his circle. West recalled what it had felt like to channel his FEAR into candy for Master, and he replicated the process here, placing his hands on either side of the circle and concentrating.

At first, the fan shook slightly but insistently, as if an earthquake had just swept through Amityville, but soon it rose off of the table and fluttered in the air. It didn't float very high, but it remained there when West removed his hands.

The boil grinned and took his seat, his posture a great deal more upright and proud than it had been at any other point in this class. PWNED

(( Attempt 1 - Clump of Dirt - Summoning Earth - Success! ))

Michi wanted to summon some air or fire, but as this was her first real class since coming to school... she didn't want to piss the teacher off. Sighing to herself, she retrieved a clump of dirt and slapped it into her summoning circle. Michi's hands lay on either side of the circle and she stared at it. What was she supposed to do now?

Probably the same thing she did when using FEAR? Or turning herself into smoke. That was so easy though (the latter), she never had to think about it. Instead Michi concentrated, willing whatever was going to happen to happen.

Some sort of thing appeared on her table and was petrified instantly. It didn't disappear, but rather stayed there! Michi couldn't help but grin, she had done well!

((First attempt - Air - Paper fan - Success!))

Turning his attention back to the teacher, Shun waited quietly as they were told to attempt summoning something. He glanced back at his circle, then got up to grab some components. Picking up a paper fan, he headed back to his seat and set it down into the circle.

From there, he took in a deep breath and began to focus onto the circle, attempting to direct his FEAR into it. Shortly after he began, the paper fan in the center began to lift and twirl in place, as if a gentle wind had picked it up. It continued to do so after he had stop sending FEAR into the circle.

Watching it for the moment, he glanced over at a few other students to see how they were faring. It looked like Hel had succeeded as well.

A few other students didn't look quite as fortunate.

Attempt 2 - Vial of Blood (earth) - SUCCESS

Okay. So maybe using dirt to entice an element was a bad idea. Grimacing, the ghoul scooped the dirt up and out of the circle, tossed it back in the stupid box, and noticed something she hadn't seen before. Blood! Blood had to work, right?

With confidence, she claimed a vial for herself before trotting back to her seat. It had to work.

... Because if it didn't...

... Riyo glanced around the room to everyone who had succeeded. Oh sweet Sally. Even Hel had something. No. She couldn't ******** this up. If the feline didn't summon SOMETHING, she'd never hear the end of it.

Serious face equipped, the ghoul placed the vial in the middle of the circle and lifted her hands towards it, concentrating intently on her work. This time, it was successful. She inwardly ooo'd and ahhh'd at the sight of magic finally falling into place, a little figure petrifying before her eyes.

That was, before reverted right back to nothing.

... Oh.

Riyo's ears fell back against her head under her cat hood, a look of disappointment claiming her face.

[ Attempt 1 - Summoning Earth Using Black Sand - Success! ]

Nuru scurried over to snatch a container of Black Sand and sat back down at his desk. Tilting the sand and pouring a little bit out onto his circle in the very center and sat the container aside.

He then raised his hands and half lidded his eyes. Gaze focused on the little pile of black sand as he tried to figure out how to focus his FEAR on something other than his physical form for once. Becoming slightly more transparent in his concentration as a shadowy smoky tendril reached out from his body to curl around the sand and then flash with life.

He nearly lept out of his seat at the results but instead managed to stay put to force himself to keep it up until the petrification seemed "done". But then it kept on despite his lack of assistance. Allowing him to just GLOW with pride at his creation. Even though he still wasn't sure what the jack it was.

Attempt 1 - Broken Golem Pieces (Earth) - Success!

Danny held her head a bit higher as the teacher looked at her. Maybe it was a cautionary look, but he had said mastered. Danny was a master of an element. SHE WAS A MASTER OF FIRE. Even if that was obvious to everyone else, Danny was rather proud of herself. Small things, people.

While perusing through the box, she looked back at some of the people who had already begun summoning things. Edel's fish scales turned into a puddle of water. She was definitely avoiding that one at all costs. There was Roch, who was playing with ... air? That looked ... fun she supposed.

It seemed most people had chosen fire things. The professor said not to do that, right? She wasn't allowed to be a master because she was just too good for everyone else. At least, that's what Danny figured.

So she went with the first thing her hands fell on. Some broken golem pieces? They were sort of boring- they were just rocks after all- but they had a nice reddish color. They were kind of squishy too, sort of like dirt, but harder. Clay maybe? She could do something with this. If anything, char it and make charcoal or something.

Sitting back down at her desk, Danny stared at the rocks that were now in the center of her superior-to-Roch's summoning circle. What was she supposed to do again? Something about FEAR. She lit a fireball in her hand and looked at the rocks. No, that probably wasn't it.

She ended up just putting her hands on the desk near the circle, and thinking really hard about FEAR. Nope. Nothing. Nothing happened.

Danny was about to raise her hand and ask the teacher what she was doing wrong, when she noticed tiny lines on the rocks. Danny reached a finger out to touch the rock. WOAH THAT WAS NOT SQUISHY. The golem pieces had petrified right then and there, and her desk was getting tiny lines too. Well damn.

The fire demonness didn't have time to celebrate though, as Edel's puddle was rapidly growing larger, and Danny could see it. She frowned and looked at Edel. She just KNEW the ghoul was doing it on purpose. "Stop ittttt," she whined, grabbing her lantern closer to her lap. Stupid Edel!  

[Baneful]

Zar didn't take long to select something that looked interesting from the box, gravitating predictably to the paper fan, before returning to his table with the object, placing it pedantically on his summoning circle being meticulously careful not to smudge the chalk. And then.. he had to focus his FEAR. It wasn't something he was used to doing, normally focusing his fear consisted of getting a headful of unreadable mixed conflicting emotions from people around him, some fleeting and utterly useless remnant of the Incubi instincts he still possessed. It gave him a headache. But here he had to so he held out his hands, closed his eyes and focused on the mental image of the circle, of the fan, of the air in the room of even the way the fan had rocked slightly in the breeze or when someone moved abruptly.

When he opened them again it was like the small paper fan was caught in a breeze only it could feel, swirling around and around in the air just above the table. He stared at it as if it might suddenly assault him, not sure what to do /now/ but scared to move an inch in case the fleeting success was made even briefer.

Earth - Broken Golem Peices

Mot was excited! This sounded like it would be a wonderful experiment! This was the best class ever~.

the reaper took some broken golem bits, happily seating himself down again and placing them in his series of random circles. As a reaper, he must be a natural at this, right? This would be a cake walk. Everyone would be jealous of his amazing skills, and wish they were just as cool and smart as he!

The reaper concentrated his Fear into the object, eagerly awaiting results.

It was like watching.... nothing. Even paint drying yielded results, but this? He'd effectively put down broken pieces on a table with chalk drawings. Good job.

"Ah, thanks! Though, I'm sure you can do it!" Gene beamed at the Reaper, when suddenly approached by his familiar- a snake. Gene gave the creature a nervous smile, hand rising with wiggling fingers in response. It wasn't that she was scared of snakes or anything, they just... made her a little nervous. This one seemed nice enough though.

"Hello Biskoto, I'm Gene. Pleased to meet you." She was going to offer her hand, then remembered that snakes didn't have hands. That, and her other hand was starting to go wispy, floating away with the wind. It'd come back eventually. But for now? Highly inconvenient.

Oh, but Than's incense had caught fire! Then stopped. Poor boil.

"Hey! That's better than nothing, right? She clapped a stub on the boil's shoulder, giving him a reassuring smile. Not everyone could do everything right.
