**Mortal Recoil (Blood's Trial, Part II)**(finished)

"NO!!" Jarkoven replied, jumping down through an open sewer grate.

"Keep on him, Blood said, not very far away, now jumping into the grate himself.

((Let's try this again, shall we? Btw, anyone who ever knew Rain, she is now a panther. And dark grey. ^^))

Rain stumbled again, growling at herself for being so weak. Her wounds throbbed with every step, the bandages old and crusted with dried blood. She'd been traveling for weeks, trying to find someone. Possibly several someones, but that certain someone was at the top of her list. He wasn't a friend. She had none left, no family, no one. This someone she was trying to find; he was responsible.

"I'm going to rip his f***ing head off. Last," she promised to herself, as she looked around. The several someones part...that had been a small part of her stubbornness giving away to reason. She needed somewhere to stay, to heal, and maybe get an actual direction. She knew of one place, but...it didn't matter. She needed help, though she despised admitting it. She was going to the Ice Kingdom. She scanned the skies, and stopped. She never had luck like this... Despite the gash in her thigh that threatened to reopen, she began moving at a slow jog towards the floating kingdom.

Taking a deep breath, once under, she pulled the water from the ground, in a graceful form, every movement of her hands exact. It rose, taking her with it. Once she was about 50 feet from the ground, she compressed the water, and released it. Adrenaline shot through her as she was launched up through the air, already moving her hands so the water traveled with her. Eyes wide, she opened her mouth to scream as she realized she hadn't shot high enough. In a near panic, she made a long line of water from the edge of the city to her, and rose the temperature until it was solid ice.

She sighed in relief, before she realized that she was hanging on with ice. Hurriedly, she began climbing it like a rope, thickening it as she pulled the parts from below that were no longer needed. Finally making it to the top, she clung to the ground, shaking her head slowly. She used to be stronger. Braver. But that scared her half to death? She was out of practice. Once her heart settled, she headed to the castle, hoping they were in good moods.

Draid was doing nothing out of the usual for Draid's standards... Which was freerunning over rooftops and pissing off the inabitants. He was doing this when he saw Rain's little stunt. He jumped down from the building he was on and walked towards her. "Hey, you're looking pretty bad. What happened? ..." He then began to recognize her. "Hey... You were that one chick that Martini used to date back in highschool!"

Spyke nods and leaves to get the guards ready for anything. "If anything...You shouldn't punish a guy for trying to protect his family."

Rain, still a little weak, nodded. Martini... Where was he? She hadn't seen him in.... How long? It did t matter right then. The face was familiar....

"Draid, right? It's not too bad... I just haven't had time for silly things like healing and sleeping more than necessary. I... You. You knew Blood... Right? You wouldn't happen to know where he's been, do you?"

She struggled to keep the pure hatred out of her voice. No need to have someone in her way. Everyone said he was dead. Rain doubted that. He was talented at getting himself out of those kind of things, the b*****d.

Draid nodded. "Sure, I know the guy. He used to live here in the kingdom before his godly takeover and all that. His castle's gone, though. I think he's dead." He held out his hand to Rain. "Come on, let's see if we can't patch you up. The royal medic has been preoccupied lately with Rose trying to get out of schoolwork, but I'm sure he can get you stitched back up."

"hm. Dead? Suuure. I'll believe that when I see a body," she growled to herself. But a chance to get her strength up? He was obviously in hiding. Though the extra time to find him would be useful, if he got time to prepare, she wouldnt weaken herself further. She had time.

"Yeah, that sounds nice. Thanks, man," she said in a more audible tone. She grinned. She'd been on her own for so long. She wouldnt let anyone even try to take care of her, but a little support was nice.

Draid led her through the streets of the Ice Kingdom, up to the palace grounds. "You know, I don't really recall your name. Do you know Frost or Swift or any of them? If so, you should talk to them. Heck, if you know the royal family, you've got friends in helluva high place."

Rain thought a moment... She was pretty sure she knew them, also from highschool... did everyone go to the same goram high school? Rain shook the thought away, and continued. She never reay recalled caring for them much. Not disliking them, just... Not caring. well, you'd better start caring; and fast. Might as well milk this for all you can. Royalty, eh? Those people always have little extra information not revealed to the public. Hell, even if they wouldn't tell me, royals never seemed to notice servants around when they spoke of such mattress. Even the most loyal servants will slip overhead tidbits for enough money.

"Names Rain. Yeah, I knew them. Good friends," she lied easily, speaking the words clearly and smoothly as the others. "Hopefully not to high up on the world to help an old friend? I've know too many a good old friend ignore me because they couldn't be seen 'with my type'."

Draid laughed. "They're not that type of people. They've helped out the unlikeliest of people. Like take Fenrir for example. Before meeting Swift, he was a cold-blooded assassin. Now, he's somewhat decent of a fellow. Mordin? He just asked for a room in a tower. They gave him a room in the tower! Just like that!" He snapped his fingers. "He doesn't really do anything, either! Sends me on errands because I'm his apprentice or something and watches porn that his talking crystal ball gives him. The lousy ********... Sorry if I'm boring you with my yappin' and all. Not much good at small talk, and it tends to turn into me just yappin and yappin... You'll see it when you get there." Just then they arrived at the gates. "Well, speak of the devil. We're here! Let's get you looked at, then!" He said, hurrying up the stairs.

Rain tried to interject, several times, actually... Fortunately, she was behind him so he wouldn't see every time her mouth opened to comment. When he pointed out his own flaw, Rain merely laughed at the idea.

"No, you don't really that much. You've never heard me go into a rant. Yes... Im sure they'll be kind enough to offer a place... For now. It'd be kinda nice to sleep in a bed. The hardest bed can put any one fast asleep who's been sleeping in hallows and under bushes for weeks. Almost worried I might sleep through something important..." she said, actually worried. And that was the hardest bed... Rain would have to be careful... Luxury could be a deadly trap, if your not used to it and how it slows you down.  

[Uncle Sciz]

Sciz slid and fell through the sewer grate, stumbling a bit but regaining his balance as he ran for a moment.

Blood fired at the ground next to Jarkoven. "Next one's going for your head if you don't stop!"

Jarkoven stopped, putting his hands in the air.  

[Uncle Sciz]

Sciz stopped, skidding a bit past Jarkoven. "Well, that's one way to make a guy stop..." Sciz walked up to Jarkoven. "So who are you anyways?"

Something tapped Draid on the soldier as they walked through the castle. It turned out to be Fenrir, the upper half of his body hanging from the ceiling. " 'Somewhat decent' eh? Sounds about right. Didn't think I was thought of so highly. I'm flattered, really." he says, fading back through the wall, "And in case you forgot, I hear what the shadows hear dude, it's hard to keep things from me. Especially if you say my name. Just lettin you know. Later." and with that, Fenrir was fully faded through the wall and back into the Realm of Shadow enjoying praying on others secrets.
