Marie couldn't help but smile brightly when the woman seemed to know she was an artist just by looking at her. "Yes...I am." She answered with a small nod. "I actually recently sold one of my paintings to Mr. Wayan. It is the one hung at the base of the staircase." It was at that moment that the party's host approached, and of all things, sneezed on her. Marie had tried to jump out of the way and she could only hope he had been mostly successful. She didn't want to end up sick because of someone's bad sense of containing an illness. Marie made a point of shifting away from Damien after that point. When the oddly familiar man came back, Marie's eyes widened slightly at the sound of his name. "The Joesph Hardin? You have some of the greatest charcoal drawings I have ever seen! The way you capture such strong emotions in your pieces is just...astounding."

Syren brushed her fingers across the back of Lilit's neck. "Well, well," she murmured to Sable. "Hello, Miss Melrose. I hope my student is doing what she's supposed to. As I have instructed her many times before." The vampire slid her fingers into Lilit's hair and then murmured, "Of course, I'd be surprised if she actually did what she was supposed to." She sighed softly. Her protege's lack of respect for authority was a source of annoyance for her.

Looking at Marie Kael held a fake smile. He was not going to lie he was rather annoyed that she knew his real name rather then the pen name Kaelthas he had been working under. Then again he had not hid his name from magazines tho he mostly asked them to not use his real name. "Ahh it seems that you have heard of me you must have an eyes for art" Kael smiled this time sincerely. He wondered for a moment how deep was her thirst for art but would save that for another time if he got lucky he may have another host before the end of the evening. "I have not heard your name tho Miss.." he ended waiting for her.

"My craft is my life." Marie answered simply and honestly. "I paint. And though I have dabbled with charcoal and other various mediums...none of my work has ever held a candle to yours. I'm beyond honored to have one of my works on the same walls that hold yours, and that of other great artists." Marie suddenly stopped, realizing she was starting to sound like a groupie. She didn't want to come off as one of those desperate girls trying to get close to a celebrity. She simply wanted to show her respect, as one artist to another. "Oh I appologize. My name is Marie Sangreal." Marie paused for a moment, "I understand you have a pen name as well? Do you prefer to be called by that or your real name?"

"Mister Hardin, are you seriously trying to get compliments from the host at a party?" Damien asked. "If you do it again, I'm afraid I'll have to ask you to leave. And as for what I think of it, it's hardly my favorite of your work." Damien then turned to Sable. "Miss Melrose. How nice it is to meet you."

"I simply wanted you to be assured of who's art you had upon your walls as I have had no dealings with you it was evident that you obviously picked them up second hand" Kael said to Damien. "I need no compliments from someone who fails to understand the complex undertones and emotions of my artwork" he chuckled a bit before turning to Marie. Even to the host of the party he had no intent to hold his tongue to someone even Wayan. "Ms. Sangreal how about we go some where else I am afraid that this talk of charcoal and paint has left the company in a loss for words" he said giving a small wave as he started to walk towards another side of the party. He had no reason to think to much of Sables safety with both Valen and Lilith close to her and each of them were more adept at fighting then himself so he left it in there hands.

Marie did notice how silent the others around them had become. She was just so excited that it seemed she didn't notice at first. At the offer to talk somewhere else, where they wouldn't be boring the others and disrupting conversations, Marie nodded, "Certainly." Before walking away with him, she turned back to Damien and Sable for just a moment. "I was a pleasure to meet you. Hopefully we'll get a chance to speak again before the night is out." Marie bowed her head to Sable briefly before running off to follow Kael to the other side of the party. On the way she left her now empty champagne glass with a passing waiter. Catching up to Kael, she couldn't help but smile again. Being in the presence of such talent was really quite something.

Sable had intended on chatting more with this Marie woman, but alas, Kael had stolen her attention. Not that she minded too much, since he was possibly examining her. Perhaps she would make a good host, or evening meal at the very least. She also did not bother correcting him when he spoke out to Damien, their host. Although it was rather rude, Damien still was nothing but a mere human. (For now, at least.) Sable offered a small smile and nod to the woman before she left. "It is nice to meet you too. Thank you for inviting me." Now, her attention was returned to the host of this party. She couldn't help but get the feeling that she should learn a little more about him. There was just...something about him that she felt that she needed to know. But what exactly was it?

"And," Damien added, "I know even less about your two friends here," he smiled, indicating Syren and Lilit.

{Holy crap, I'm so sorry Luci! I didn't notice that you'd posted! D:}
"Ask any questions that come to mind. I'll be more than happy to answer any that you might have to the best of my ability." Sable smiled a little more. She glanced over to Lilit and Syren, a little dissappointed to see the elder vampire here as well. She did not hate Syren by any means. Certainly, she appreciated that the vampire knew her place in the hierarchy. She was just so annoyed by, and perhaps a little jealous of, Lilit's constant ranting and raving about her. Still, she felt it appropriate to introduce them both to Damien. "They are both close friends of mine. I would introduce them, but as one of them will gladly point out, they can speak for themselves." Of course, this was a not-so-subtle jab at Lilit's habit of insubordination.
