 Kagehoshi is the quiet and reserved sort. Peaceful by nature, he will do anything within his power to bring peace to all those he encounters. Some might see him as weak due to his preference for not fighting, but they would be wrong in his opinion. After all, it takes more bravery to walk away from a fight than it does to actually fight. That's not to say, however, that Kagehoshi won't fight at all. He simply understands when it is necessary and called for.
Like his name (translation: Shadowstar) suggests, Kagehoshi tends to linger in the shadows and watch others from afar. Though he can be quite jovial and energetic once brought out of his shell. As for his past, that's a topic best left unmentioned since it will instantly cause him to withdraw back into his world of shadows.

 Once long ago there was a mostly Kelpie based herd which lived in the far north of the Kawanii lands. Having built their territory among the northern continent's ice fields, the herd surrounded itself with hot springs and began to thrive in the region. This herd called themselves The North Stars.
The North Stars were run by two very fair and honest Alphas- Takeshi and Hikari. The pair had been blessed with a basket of their own rather recently. He would be heir to the herd and so the pair named him Kagehoshi. A grand celebration was held in the newborn foal's honor, with much feasting and merriment to be had by all.
Not long after the celebration drew to a close, a messenger from a bordering clan requested audience with Kagehoshi's parents. Word of the stranger spread throughout the herd and intrigue quickly grew among them. None had ever seen such great wings on another Soquili save for those upon their own herd Alphas. They welcomed the messenger who bore tidings of a proposed merger. For a much smaller herd, consisting of mostly Angeni and Cerynei but with a scattering of other breeds, wished to ally themselves with the North Star Herd. This herd called themselves the Ferrani, and the strange arrival was its heir.
Takeshi and Hikari discussed the proposal for several days. During such time, Brynjolf- heir of the Ferrani- met and fell in love with Aanitsi- third granddaughter of the Elder Shaman, Hakkon. The two were made life mates just in time for the Alphas' decision. Both herds would be joined together as one. Brynjolf left to inform his father and the Ferrani of the decision.
It was during his absence that disaster struck. An unknown plague ravaged the North Star Herd, decimating everything in its wake. Nearly three-fourths of the herd was wiped out in one fell swoop. Kagehoshi was among the few who managed to survive, though his parents were not so lucky. The sheer devastation caused him to withdraw from the world and seek comfort in the shadows. For in the darkness, one could not see the calamity of death.
Kagehoshi, along with the few other survivors, moved from their home in hopes of finding peace elsewhere. Brynjolf ended up raising the young foal alongside his own surviving son, Jokull. It wasn't until after Bryn's death, and Jokull's departure from the herd, that Hoshi decided it was time to move forward. He dreams of restoring the North Star Herd to its former greatness.
