Lissa
Smiling a little at how politely the little bronze began to make his way around the boys, Lissa stood quietly and wondered how long it would take all the eggs to hatch. Hopefully not long, she thought as her stomach rumbled ever so slightly from combined hunger and nerves. Still, when another egg showed signs moving, she watched it intently. What a pity it was nearly impossible to tell what eggs held what colors!
Esfir
Turning slightly to give Kieza an encouraging smile, Esfir's attention was, nevertheless, more on the eggs than her fellow candidates. She was enjoying watching the little bronze explore. Still, that enjoyment wasn't enough to fully distract her from the rest of the eggs. And when she saw the egg that she'd touched that had given off such a strong feeling of adventurousness, she squealed very softly in glee. Even if she didn't impress, she still held high hopes of possibly being able to make friends with the congenial little minds she'd brushed against.

Jacquol when Siren began to sing and croon, that got Jacquol's attention. She'd liked that egg! Quite a lot, actually. It'd been the first one she'd visited, and she remembered it'd been keen to have attention. Well, humming like that would do the trick! She had no claim to a bronze anyway, so all her focus shifted to the wobbling pastel shell. Sorry brothers, you'd just have to fret over there, where the not-currently-important people were at! Dolmar "Oh yes. I found it entirely agreeable. Probing questions are what I would expect. They are, after all, tasked to select their life's partner from among strangers. Think hoe many questions suitors put to those they seek to woo. A half-informed choice is hardly a choice at all. Thus a portion of my distress at being removed from it. I do hope it took the measure of me...approving or not." The last he'd tacked on more as an afterthought than anything. He was certain Demon would not find anything amiss in his own mind. He was intelligent, capable, driven...what more could a dragonet want? Attention, apparently. Siren began to hum, and he tore his gaze from the bronze for a breath of a moment. Only long enough to register that nothing had hatched out of it yet, and then his gaze was right back on Demon. "It seemed genteel enough. Less strongly opinionated than some others I met, but gracious regardless." He thought he remembered that Marinel had liked that one, been very keen to touch it. How lovely that would be, if their dragons came back to back...

A'myl had already begun scanning for signs of red-headed Amna (to no avail) when Viyanakerth suddenly extended his slender neck to its fullest and bleated joyously toward the heights. Zunulth! You sparkling creature, you! He wasted no time in kicking off and shooting like a small white star up to his twin’s perch, so quickly that his rider instinctively jerked to grab hold of his neck ridges, even though he was securely strapped in. As Vee landed, he simultaneously twined necks with his brother, making certain to flick his tongue playfully at Amna before unraveling from Zunulth. Meanwhile, A’myl undid his straps and slid off the white. He went to Amna and looked at her, a neutral, almost bored expression on his face. Then he held out his hand, his mouth relaxing into the warm smile – almost tender, even – that he reserved for his sister-in-arms. "It's been a while," he said.

"Well, do my eyes deceive me, or do I see a lovely lady. Do you mind if I sit here, Ooo Queen of flits and bets," L'ex inquired, still dressed in skirts, festooned with bangles and glittery things, and a pair of chunky boots. "How are your bets turning out?"

Shalaera"I don't know. It may be an illusion caused by- oof!" she paused when she got hit by one of her blue's wings as he hissed at the brown on her other shoulder, before she pushed the limb out of her face with a small laugh. "I was going to make a joke about it being an illusion caused by so many flitters in one place, but well...." Shalaera smiled to punctuate her sentance before she gestured to the seat next to her. "By all means, I'd be happy to have the company! So far, I've had..." she looked at her bets, "Well, there have been a few mutual lost bets, but many still have their stakes up and rearing to go. If that little pink one," she gestured to the Siren, "hatches before some of it's siblings I'll be in for a potentially interesting loss."

L'ex "Thank you," L'ex chuckled slightly as the pair of squabbled around Shalaera, gathering their skirt under them as they sat down beside her. "They are lovely, and did I ever introduce myself? I'm L'ex if I had not." They couldn't remember if they had. "Ooo?" L'ex looked over the Siren rocking. "Well, they do seem to be ready to go. That is a pretty egg, and hmm, a blue I think." They added.

Rio's answer would have been a sincere, 'Oh, no, I hope not!' because that was a terrible thought. One that had occurred to him, and probably to everyone else in attendance, and one that he wanted to ignore and push down, much as he wanted to let himself gloss over the possibility - no, the likelihood - that there would be injuries on the Sands. Even fatal ones. Doom and gloom and everything he wished weren't reality, like Thread and so many other things. But before he could formulate a hopeful answer, Lennik interjected. The Trader turned his head to offer a warm smile and dip his head in acceptance of the answer. "There," he said to Alya with a decisive nod, "I'm sure she'll be fine." Not that he was actually sure, but he wanted that to be the answer, and listing uncertainties did no one any good. It was better to hope. "Not your first Hatching, I take it," he noted. It was the Weyrbrats who tended to refer to Vimiath's rider as 'Auntie Tally,' after all. "Have you ever heard an egg hum like that?" demon_pachabel HE'S PROBABLY SAFER WITH THESE TWO ANYWAYthey maybe probably aren't wearing targets like a certain someone

ShalaeraMele turned to hiss at L'ex as they took up their seat as well. Shalaera sighed, reaching up to extract the green Laena from her shoulder, much to the blue's displeasure, before offering her out to their new neighbor. "Laena is very mellow, if you'd like to hold her." as if in show, the green had melted into Shalaera's arms and just crooned sweetly in her hold. The pink egg caused her head to tilt slightly. "Mmmm, possibly! Or a very large green or possibly a very small brown," she speculated. Not that a blue couldn't have rocked that lovely pink shell just as well, but she had her feelings. "I'm Shalaera, and in order we have Laena," the green, "Mele," the angry blue, "Euboea," the brown who was currently hiding defensively behind a bronze, "Artemision and then Salia," the gold. "I think that's everybody at least."

H A I Z E ASure, it had been a few weeks and she should have been expecting the call to go up any day now, but that didn’t change the fact that Haizea had gotten a jolt when the call to hurry to the Sands went up. She trying to dry her hair after having bathed, having opted to scrub up after chores but before dinner. Barring catastrophic food spillage on herself, she’d be fine through tomorrow. It had been a little bit of a fight to get her robe on. White robe plus long damp hair? At least it was hot on the Sands to help facilitate quicker drying! She piled her hair on top of her head in a loose bun to get it up off her neck and back. When it dried a little more, she’d maybe let it down, but otherwise didn’t really have time to worry. Rushing along in a mad sprint to catch up, quietly cursing to herself along the way, Haizea creeped in among the number of candidates, a flush on her face from her run and her excitement. Shards! There was a bronze already on the sands. Casting a cursory glance around, after pausing briefly on Vimiath, whom she dipped her head in a bow to, she spotted her new High Reaches friend and closed the distance between, an almost impish grin on her face as she approached. Sidling up next to her, Haizea bumped Laelia’s hip with her own. “Hey, lady, did I miss anything?” She spoke softly to not draw any unwanted attention her way. “Other than the start of the show apparently,” she continued with a slight nod towards the showy bronze weaving his way among the boys. “Oh? And another stirring too.”

Yarala and Brown Vorzeth (Western) If the brown was daunted by the presence of the large Bronze Blundarth he did not show it, only caring to show the Queen the attention that was warranted. Gracious queen, you must be well to welcome your children, they'll find you just as radiant as we all do! He rumbled for a moment, his gaze a dancing wash of blue and green and purple, he sent all the warmth he could muster to the ailing queen, but could sense that the concern was well-received, yet still was discomfirting to her. Vorzeth! Yarala yelled at her dragon, making him finally tear his gaze from the golden dragon. He felt a touch embarrassed for what His must have felt reeling through him, and he finally rumbled deeply, his head rising to settle close to the small form of his rider. Yarala was happy for his attention oncemore, a touch of envy clouding her thoughts for just a moment before she heard footfalls near her and a familiar greeting bugle of a large Blue. She smiled up at Nicara from her seated spot on Vorzeth's foot. "You've come! Come sit with me and watch!" She said, finally unleashing her excitement on someone besides her dragon. Vorzeth raised his head to peer at his Wingmate, letting loose his own bugle in answer. Ah! Diesteth! Hello, my friend! He greeted, his eyes wheeling blues and greens. Kieza (High Reaches Candidate) Kieza felt her heart hammer a touch faster as she watched the brightly colored Siren Egg wobble, and a sweet hum issue forth, lingering in her ears. But it seemed to spoil and held a grinding feeling that was a touch unsavory. It wanted to be watched too, she could feel it. And the girl was happy to oblige one of the eggs she had been unable to touch before the the dramatic events had transpired. "Please come join, beautiful one. I'm sure you could show the showboating Bronze a thing or two." She smiled at her thought, willing herself to watch with deep concentration.

L'exL'ex paused and grinned, taking the offered green firelizard and set her on their lap, gently stroking over the small head. "Who is precious and gorgeous, why, it is you Laena." They coooed. "I would lean more to brown," L'ex mused and shrugged. "But I really do think blue, and it is a pleasure to meet you Shalaera, and your lovely fair." They paused considering. "If Siren is not the next to hatch, which egg do you think would split? I'm thinking the little black one with the moon."

Jalarus The large man had found himself aback a bronze dragon of all things, when word of the imminent Hatching occurred. He had volunteered to pick up the extra shift -- though it meant more work for him, and a late night at that -- it also would keep him distracted. Life had fallen into a sort of dull routine. He woke up, he ate, he drank, he worked, he ate some more, he drank some more, and he slept. Lately, Roknhin had started giving him instrument lessons, but honestly, the man felt more hopeless than ever. He didn't know how to do much that wasn't simply pure labor or smashing things.... but he supposed that's why he had a job at the Weyr. He made a good pack mule.
Thanking the bronze rider -- Ay'ril, was that his name? -- Jalarus brought in the few cases of wine he'd been ordered to deliver to Casgar, and find his place among the foreign workers. He didn't know what they'd be having him do, but it wouldn't matter. He'd help where he could, and take a few moments to gape at the foreign Weyr when he could spare them. Western was different than High Reaches, and everyone is already in a flurry.
Glancing around for any familiar faces, it didn't take long for Jalarus to help chop up carcasses. Those baby dragons were going to need fresh meat, and a lot of it.
DruidTigeress Unsure where Roknhin might be... but I think they're both the only PC Help right now, haha. In case you want to bring him out.

Kiri She didn't recognize or know Iathe, but the other girl didn't put her off. Very few did, really, and that was just fine by her! Who knew? Maybe someone here was going to need a daring rescue -- she'd be ready for it if that was the case. While both Roana and Iathe seemed more than capable, she wouldn't hesitate to keep an eye out. "A bronze is considered good luck, traditionally," still she grinned in her usual mischievous way, "But given this is Western, I don't really know what it might mean."
This was the girl's first Hatching and she had no idea what to expect. The Touching had been worrisome, and if her eyes drifted over to Vimiath now and then, it couldn't be helped. Would the queen interfere again like she had the last time? A'ral said no, but the girl wasn't as convinced.
As the Demon approached, she watched as he passed by without incident. Were they to let the dragons approach? Or should they step back as one did so? And was't she supposed to be thinking happy thought? "I think this place'll be a bit more crowded soon," she added, noticing the rainbow Siren egg shift and listening to her hum. Now that was unexpected!

Juneneth did not miss Akaris' wave, and the bronze's eyes whirled a brighter blue-green, just for her. He hummed louder, for the new children, of course, but also for the young woman that he had come to know these past few weeks. If he shuffled a bit closer to the edge of his perch as first Lennik, and then Rylyrr approached, it couldn't be helped -- though Vimiath was the source of the girl's fear, he did not want just anyone giving her a hard time.
R'mor, for his part, did arch a brow as a second young-man came to linger. Still, he refrained from speaking. Was he simply here to be social, or was he a friend? Hmm. Either way, he'd make a note about this one, too.
His eyes looked back over the Sands, trying to seek out Serfie, whom he'd heard much about since her ill-timed sneaking onto the Sands. A'ral and he had had different ideas on what to do with the child -- but for now, he would let the green rider handle her as he saw fit. Once his Hatching finished, they could better figure out what to do with the foundling in A'iel's keep.

Cedarian
The boy gave a small tilt of his head in concession to what Gavryl said. The bronze was ignoring the girls. "Well... I suppose he's still young yet. Perhaps he simply needs the right rider to teach him how to be a proper gentleman." Furthermore, he could understand why the bronze would disregard the women -- this was a man's dragon, wasn't it? Just as a gold would not bother to Impress a man, a bronze would have no interest a woman. "Wise of it to Hatch first. It gets prime choice of all the Candidates."
Cedarian did turn his eyes away from the bronze when the rainbow-shelled egg began to twitch. Now that was an egg he liked, even if just from afar. "I did not touch all the eggs, though I did a great many. I shall be curious to see more of them Hatch - we'll be here all night otherwise." He shifted his weight on his feet, finding the thin slippers did little against the heat of the Sands. Still, he was not going to let his discomfort show -- not in front of so many!

Lennix would be eyed up and down until Alya placed him with a start. This was the boy who'd spoken to her when she'd been creeping on the eggs! Her lower lip threatened to protrude in a pout, but after a moment, she only sighed. "I do hope that's true..." And when Rio agreed, she gave a quiet little nod. In any case, there was no point in continuing to be dour--even if she privately worried. "Maybe after the Hatching, she'll wake up, and everything will be alright!" Her eyes lit up at the thought, even though Alya knew it was a lie to tide herself over. Rio's question sparked her attention once more, and she watched Lennix with rapt attention. If he'd Stood before, maybe he had tips! Then again.... he was still a Candidate, not a dragonrider, so maybe he didn't....

B'shen, Blue Hazmath (Western Wing Riders)
Hamath demanded, squirming in their weyr and humming away cheerfully. <We have to meet them! HAVE TOOOOO.> The blue huffed and wiggled.
“I know, I know, one moment.” B’shen called, taking a moment to make sure he was clean an presentable. His clothes were wrinkle free, his rider knots were noticeable and straight, and his hair was some what tamed. Or at least not the usual curly copper mess.
He slipped into the saddle, giving the blue a fond pat. “Okay, okay, let’s go.” He grinned as they took to the air and Hazmath landed letting him off. B’shen gave his dragon a hug and hurried down to get a better sight of the little ones.

Another egg began to ready themselves to meet the world. Blundarth's hum rippled with amusement as he gaze swung to the egg as it joined in with their song. He altered to hum more in tune with the young one than the other dragons. There were plenty of eyes on you sweet one. Everyone was desperate to see how beautiful and wonderful you are. He sent to the youngster. Feel them all here? How they are on the edges of their seats in anticipation. There was no finer audience. The love and joy that radiated out of Blundarth could very well threaten to drive every dragon to nausea if it was just going to increase with every egg that started to move. The bronze didn't pose, he hadn't had the temperament to do so even when he had the looks. He was far to besotted with the young minds before him. So eager to see every wonderful little form break into the world and find the candidate for them. Anyone would couldn't feel the waves of pride and adoration could most likely see it in the tender gaze that swung over the eggs and searching hatchling. Or from the dopey grin on K'tor's face as his dragon's emotions infected him. The bronze briefly turned his eye to Vimiath, the impression of a grin in his mind. This was wonderful Vimiath. Thank you for sharing this with me.Mx Cherie For encouraging papa moments.
