Good evening everyone. Just waiting for Dad to finish cooking dinner.
So, today was the big blackout event where sites either did a complete blackout (i.e. Wikipedia) or partial blackout - images promoting awareness of SOPA/PIPA (i.e. Google, Gaia). Thankfully it hasn't interfered with most of what I've been doing today. Though I haven't been on the internet much today as it is.

When I woke up this morning, I found my parents outside working on clearing our driveway both of snow and also some of our young fir trees by our pump house. Dad said that about 4-6 of the trees had fallen due to the amount of snow (and possibly because of the high winds too). It's sad that so many came down because of it.
I told Dad that at least we have some baby trees around the property, most of them in my Mom's box garden, that we could use to replace the fallen trees.

Grab the book nearest to you, turn to page 18, and find line 4.

Stretch your left arm out as far as you can, What can you touch? I can just lift my left elbow out to the side and hit the wall.
Before you started this survey, what were you doing? Posting my thoughts here in my thread.
What is the last thing you watched on TV? The 5 o' clock news on News Channel 8

Without looking, guess what time it is 6:10 p.m.
Now look at the clock. What is the actual time? 6:10 p.m. *laughs* I had looked at what time it was before I got to this part of the questionnaire. Hence why I guessed correctly, heh.
With the exception of the computer, what can you hear? Dad cooking.
When did you last step outside? What were you doing? This morning, watching my parents clean up the fallen young fir trees and snowblowing our driveway.
Did you dream last night? I believe I did. Must have not been a real important one, since I don't remember what it was about.
Do you remember your dreams? For the most part, yeah.

When did you last laugh? Um... earlier today when we watched Cookie's Fortune. Not the best movie but it had some comical parts to it.
Do you remember why / at what? I just told you!
What is on the walls of the room you are in? Bulletin board covered with a variety of stuff, Stone plaques with Japanese Kanji on it, a 3D frame containing a kimono in it, a 3D image of a horse that the light hits different parts of it depending on where you stand, two cat pictures, a shelf of water globes and random knick-knacks and a cloth scroll that says "Cats Rule, Dogs Drool."
Seen anything weird lately? Hmm... nope.
What do you think of this quiz? It's alright.

What is the last film you saw? Cookie's Fortune
If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you live? I would like to live around here or maybe somewhere in the U.K.
If you became a multi-millionaire overnight, what would you buy? Plane tickets to travel over to the U.K. and maybe rent a flat or a cottage or some other place to live in while I spend time in the area. *shrugs*
Tell me something about you that most people don’t know. Um... *shrugs* There's a lot of stuff that most people don't know about me because I'm quite reserved.
If you could change one thing about the world, regardless of guilt or politics, what would you do? More acceptance in the world, less prejudice...

Do you like to dance? I love to dance!
Would you ever consider living abroad? In the U.K., yes.
Does your name make any interesting anagrams? It might. I don't know.
Who made the last incoming call on your phone? Grandma saying that she was getting to snow and was wondering how much we had.
What is the last thing you downloaded onto your computer? A converted version of an article I had to edit. It was in .docx format, which I can't open; so I had to convert it to .doc.

I told my parents about an article that was posted here in Why Not that was sharing the reactions to students who were freaking out about Wikipedia being in blackout mode and not being able to finish their homework.
Mom, of course, logically thought like me that there's plenty of other sources for students to go to for research stuff. I tried to explain the mentality of students who wait until the last minute to do their work and want to complete it in the least amount of time with the least amount of effort. I'm pretty familiar with the mentality of such folks having friends... and dated a couple of people... who do such last minute, hardly-any-work stuff. I still don't think Mom realized why those students were freaking out. *sighs*
But then again... that's how it seems to be lately. I try to explain things to Mom in a language that will make her understand something, but it never seems like the message gets through to her... or I don't feel like she even cares in the first place.
