This will hopefully be the bulk of any 3DS-related commentary (for now) from me, but those who might have one: Apparently, that battery pack of Nyko's isn't lying about its claims. Couple of sites have tested it, results from one below:

3D on, brightness maximum, wireless on:
Nyko Power Pak +: 5:33
3DS battery: 2:52

3D off, brightness at minimum, Power-Saving on, wireless off:
Nyko Power Pak +: 9:04
3DS battery: 4:40

...Give or take a few minutes for actually having sound on, mind. In short, it's apparently worth the $20 and slightly extra bulk ($30 if you still want to be able to use a charging cradle). Also of note, battery's easy to replace anyway, so.

Random bits aside, keep in mind it's intended for the 3DS. Regular DS systems probably can't use the pack too well, and seeing the design of it, probably wouldn't in any way.

As for the battery, it's kinda a necessary evil; not only is it more powerful than what it's succeeding, it's essentially able to run three screens (Top one counts as two with the 3D effect on). It's going to eat the battery, but if you've ever had a PSP, the two systems are comparable in how long their battery lasts.

As for all the filters? Gaia and its catbook. That is all.
