She was starting to reach her limit when it came to trivia Medicine, but... She wasn't so sure she wanted to switch over to her back up subject. She'd do that next round- Providing that she actually made it that far.

That's exactly what got Makoto and Toyoko booted. Both were trying to salvage the skills they attempted, even throwing in a Void into it to help guarantee they made it before moving on to a backup topic.
