Invert; To turn (something) upside down or inside out. You're right about that. However;
Eversion means a process which turns something inside out. The words are vaguely synonymous, but eversion has more mathematical connotations. And the grammar of 'eversion' is fine, as it is the noun form rather than the verb, 'evert'.
