About Me:
Belinda was raised in a herd of pixies, purity of their bloodlines was highly valued among the members of her herd. Her mother and father both appeared to be full blooded pixies, they had a high status in the herd and both were highly respected, but when Belinda was born, the only child with a tiny spiral horn sprouting from her forehead, it raised embarrassing questions about their families history. Belinda and her siblings certainty looked like their parents in coloring and physical characteristics, so there could be no question about their legitimacy, the entire herd was spooked by Belinda's ghostly colored eyes and the skull like mask that didn't seem to come from any member of her family. Belinda's parents and siblings were never openly hostile towards her, but even as a foal, Belinda felt unwelcome among them. She was different, and that clearly was a problem. She never quite fit in with the others her age, and she felt that her family blamed her personally for their fall in the social hierarchy of the herd. On the brink of adulthood, Belinda left her herd in the middle of the night, never once looking back. She loved her family, but they made it clear she would never be accepted as one of them, while that was painful, she was nonetheless excited to escape the suffocating sadness of her childhood. She knew there were other herds out there who weren't as narrow minded and who could accept her for who she was rather than hating her for not being who they wanted her to be.
Belinda had scarcely entered adulthood when the earthquake shook her homeland and opened the passge into the kawani lands, seeing this as the perfect opportunity to escape her previous life and find a new beginning, she volunteered to migrate there along with a vast majority of others at the request of the elders. Upon arrival, still reeling with culture shock and in a desperate attempt to assimilate into this new society, she took part in a quaint local custom that seemed to celebrate love and fertility, both topics that made her uncomfortable, to her intense embarrassment she had gotten carried away in the heat of the moment and wound up pregnant by a stallion whom she had met only once. The father, Conri, was an adventurous free spirit. Not one to be tied by bonds of family or love, so she let him go. She couldn't ask him to stay with her and the children, their personalities were too different, a future between them was impossible to contemplate, and she didn't want to feel bound to a stallion whom she would probably only see a few times throughout the year. After the usual amount of time, Belinda went into labor, the experience was terrifying for the young mare, she had never been close to her mother, or any of the older females in the herd she grew up in. She had seen pregnant mares during her childhood, but they almost always went away with the midwife when their time came along, and came back with their new baskets in tow. Alone and in pain, with no one to help her understand the natural process she was going through, she somehow managed to give birth to two healthy colts and place them into their baskets to finish their development. Although proud of her accomplishment, Belinda was at a loss, she suffered through intense bouts of postpartum depression and often resolutely began to walk away from her two children before being chased back by horrifying thoughts of their being accosted by some evil soquili. After a few weeks of this, she decided that her best course of action would be to track down Conri and leave him one of the baskets anonymously, both of her children would be safer that way. It took her quite a while, but she was able to manage it. Soon after, the basket she kept popped open and she met her infant son, Florian. For Belinda, it was love at first sight, she took him with her everywhere, taught him as best as she knew how, and did everything she could to keep him safe and whole. But she was a young mother, inexperienced and alone, it wasn't long before Florian, ever the adventuresome foal, began to periodically wander off on his own, reducing Belinda to fits of panic as she tried to track him down. One day after over a week of waiting for him to return, she realized that the only son she had left was lost to her, it was as she had always feared.
She spent the next few months in constant travel, combing over the area where Florian had been lost, but to no avail, there was no sign of what could have happened to him. For her own sanity, she took that as a good sign. Surely if a kalona or skinwalker had caught up with her errant child, they would leave behind some evidence. After nearly a year of searching, Belinda gave up her wandering search, Florian had inherited some of his father's nature clearly. She reassured herself that he would find her again when he was ready or able. She took up residence in a secluded little grotto a few miles away and returned to that spot every seven days to check for signs of his passing.
Alone again, and lonely, Belinda again took part in the local ritual, this time enjoying a tryst with a kind stallion names Quetzalcoatl. The next morning, he fled, both of them embarrassed at being caught up in their emotions. Him to return to his family, and her to return to waiting for her son. By this time, Florian would have been grown and she was starting to give up hope that he was out there, but she felt she owed it to him to wait for him. Not long after her fling, she began to experience very familiar symptoms, she was pregnant. Again. And alone, again. She had nothing but a name to go by to find Quetz and this time, she didn't even try, but much to her surprise he sought her out. By then her pregnancy was obvious and she told him he was indeed the father, he invited her back to his herd with him and after some consideration, Belinda decided that would be for the best. She felt awkward and embarrassed at first, but the Yectenua herd was like a breath of fresh air to the mare, she adored Quetzalcoatl's family and after spending some time getting to know him better, they both realized that their feelings for each other ran deep and strong. They lifemated and raised three happy and healthy (albeit a tad bit strange) children together. Belinda still has not found her son, but for the first time in her life she feels like she belongs and is welcome, she remains faithful that Florian is out there somewhere and that someday their paths will cross once again. Until then, she means to live her life to the fullest.
