Gatekeeper kept running but knew that he could no longer face the inevitable but just as he was about to stop he skidded to a halt and stopped Karisa from going further. Gatekeeper had stopped just in front of a deep canyon. The only bridge across was a long way to their right, they had strayed from their course too far. Across the canyon was their destination. The First Forest. But Gatekeeper was not looking across the distance as Karisa was but down into the gorge at some unseen thing. The feeling had grown the closer they had come this way. Now he cursed himself for not keeping to the way. Now he turned to face the inevitable.

Karisa turned around as Gatekeeper did and drew her sword for once. She gulped as she felt the menace as well behind them in the bottomless canyon. It was so deep that no light would reach the bottom. She watched as the horde drew closer.

"Stay close together, don't allow any to pass our line. Allow none to breach us. Eternity, you will know when to use your white magic." Gatekeeper could no shake the feeling of the chasm. He then remembered the story told to him by an old hermit once before entering the Flats for the first time. 'Do not make much noise or make for battle in those lands. An ancient creature on wings lies there rusting away in anger. In the shape of a dragon but with a heart and soul of steel. Beware him for he is terrible.' Gatekeeper has never once broke that rule until today.

Orcus rode full on ahead and struck down at his enemies as they neared, he also turned quickly to the left as soon as he felt the presence of a deep emptyness not far ahead of him. "It's not very honourable. Wanting me to fall to my death." He then yelled, "Be careful!" Seeing as the white summons weren't too far behind. Orcus sped left and then turned back at them. He had no specific target as he could not see but could sense the presence, although just barely, of his enemies and struck at that general area. The summons reached them quickly. None fell but a few came close to it.

Gatekeeper took out a razor boomerang and struck one of the Glory Seekers in the chest. He took out another and hit the Captain of the guard without killing it. He then deflected Orcus' blade and hit his Nightmare with his last boomerang. "Stand firm. We cna beat them as long as we stand firm."

Karisa shot at two arrows, one at a Glory Seeker and another at an honor guard, killing both. She had notched another arrow when she had to duck as Gatekeeper deflected Orcus' strike. "Ah!"

Geblin was looking at his work and then looked at mourner. "You do know that they shall fail right? No you intended them to, correct? Test our enemy?" Geblin then went over to him. "Yes very dry and calculating, no? Send our allies with little minions to have the minions die and test our enemy's resolve, their strength?" Geblin then cackled. "Yes, very dry and calculating, indeed."

Orcus raised his halberd to block the weapon of the Gatekeeper. It's constant movement in the air gave Orcus the chance to hit it and continue moving. He hacked down at the group and jumped off the Nightmare. "Go bring the others." The Nightmare responded as he dashed to the other side of the flats. Orcus could feel presences a little better on the ground, he could tell ho was who now. He began his attack with a hack and a stab, somewhere near the young elven girl and the newer elven presence. This showed a little of his hate for the elves if he could end them before his death, he'd be happy.

Karisa ducked his blow and sent up one of her own with her sword as Gatekeeper swung around using his Bonespliter. Karisa looked at Gatekeeper and he motioned for her to roll to the side. Sure enough after she did so a strike from a Glory Seeker came down. Gatekeeper quickly dispatched him though with one fell swoop of his axe.

((Okay lets wait for Silas now...and Blue))

Rha tapping her foot she then started in a sprint run toward where Orcus was going. Morlock asked her what she was doing and she shouted back, "I just can't take waiting no longer got to kill!"

Maeis thought of sitting this one out like he did before but then he figured this would be the best way to show the others that he is willing to fight for their side. He ordered his summons to stand back then using his elven vision he started firing arrow after arrow towards Orcus hoping that a least a few would hit him and kill him.

Eternity wandered out solemnly amid the clashing swords and arrows, the Golden Myr in her hands. It cooed mechanically, as if giving her permission to drain it of its White Mana. The little artifact creature would cease operation once the Mana was drained from it, but Eternity knew from past experiences with it that a trip to Lorwyn's sun-kissed plains would perk it right up. She placed the machine creature on the ground, in the center of all the chaos, and summoned forth its internal Mana store for her use. The eyes of the Myr lost their glow, and it fell sadly forward, its beak digging into the dust.
"My friends, hold your ground! This spell will not harm you," she called before the Mana worked its way through her body, igniting the as-of-late neglected spark within her.
"I invoke the Wrath of God!"

Gatekeeper covered Karisa and turned his body towards the light, knowing not to look or be blinded. He waited awhile until slowly the light faded. When it vision was finally possible he uncovered Karisa and looked back. The land has slightly more alive but the army of Orcus was gone, leaving only him. He was about to cheer when he heard the one sound he did not wish to hear. A deafening screech of some creature. It sounded metalic like metal on metal but had the bellowing quality of a great beast. Gatekeeper closed his eyes in solace.

Karisa turned towards the chasm just in time to see a large metallic claw rise over the top and grab hold of the top. "Gatekeeper?" She began to back away from the side as another claw came over the top.

"It's here. The evil left to rust in a plain of no mana, left to drain it's battery and die. Draco." As Gatekeeper turned the head of a great dragon came over the side and released another deafening roar breathing some fire up into the air as it did so. "RUN!" Gatekeeper turned to run with Karisa in his arms just as a flame blast hit where they were. "To the bridge!"

Orcus was not affected by the light becasue he was blind already, no more damage could be done to him there. He did, however, hear the creaking of rusted metal and looked back at his Plague Dogs who were a ways away. He whistled at them and yelled something in elvish, "Kai! Thylyrn saes!" The Plague Dogs ran quickly, following the enemy and Orcus stayed behind. He looked back and whistled for his Nightmare and as the Children of the night and Bloodwitch drew near they began pelting the monster with whatever they can. "Keep his attention! I'll draw him when my mount gets here."
PostPosted: Thu Mar 10, 2011 6:23 pm
Gatekeeper looked back and saw Orcus attempt to fight the monster but he knew that is was a useless venture. Draco had been alive since years not even gatekeeper could have known. Draco had turned his attention to the new enemies and breathed a large wave of fire upon them searing the plague hounds to cinders and ash. The large creature then swiped with a large claw and swept aside the Bloodwitch and one of the Children of the night. Gatekeeper stopped letting Karisa out of his arms. He knew that Orcus could not fight this thing, not here. Then it would only be a matter of time before he too would fall and then the beast would turn it's metallic gaze to them on the bridge. He knew what had to be done. "Karisa." gatekeeper took off his pack and struggled to get something out. "I want you to take this and keep it safe. Inside is a map and a trinket that shall help you on the way. Take them and go." He had handed her the wooden box and had taken out his Darksteel Axe and Tatsumasa. His pack back upon his shoulders.

Karisa took the box and looked upon her companions face. Knowing what he meant to do. "Gatekeeper you mustn't. If you die what shall happen to me? You can't fight him like this. So what if that elf dies. It would be doing us a favor. Come with us and we can still escape."

Gatekeeper looked into her eyes with his blazing green eyes. "When he is dead then what? He shall not merely go back down and ignore us." he looked at Draco as it swiped away the last of the Children. "No. It must be done." Gatekeeper walked forward. "Go Karisa. Find Progenitus, find hope! For now I see my path before me clearly. Now shall the last of the ancient elves die. Last of ages past. Sel nor domos! Live and fight!" With that Gatekeeper ran forward now at the large beast. He flung Tatsumasa into the air and the blade transformed into a large blue dragon. "Hesh nai, Felhashmar! Hegled hai lothrien." The dragon quickly flew and rammed Draco with it's body making the large creature hold onto the top of the cliff with on claw as if tussled with Felhashmar, the dragon of Tatsumasa. Gatekeeper came up and slashed the claw still clinging to the chasm top as he ran and it released it's grasp. He ran as it began to fall back and jumped onto it. "Go Karisa! Live and fight!" Slowly the great mechanical dragon fell with a great screech as Gatekeeper retook Tatsumasa in it's original form and had begun to slash at it with his axe and blade. Slowly they fell into the chasm, to their deaths.

Karisa screamed. "Gatekeeper! Gatekeepr, no. Why?" She was crying now but turned and ran to the bridge to begin crossing.

Eternity's wings beat the air furiously as she swooped in and grabbed Karisa by the shoulders, carrying her away from what used to be a fight.
"Stop! If we don't escape, then what Gatekeeper did is for nothing! Let him face the creature, and we'll do the rest," she said reassuringly. She flew to relative safety to steady herself to fight. There was still the black mage to contend with. Once she'd landed, she drew her twin swords, and gripped them tightly, waiting for the one called Orcus.

Karisa was walking across the bridge now. Crying as she did so. Even if the time was short she felt a connection with him. he was her friend and now he may never come back. She stopped. "No." She turned around on the narrow stone bridge and ran back to Eternity. "I won't run. If he didn't then neither shall I." Karisa tookout her bow and notched an arrow. "Orcus!"

Gatekeeper fell and fell down into the shadow of the chasm. Draco swiped at Gatekeeper and was knocked off. He then grabbed ahold of Draco's body and stuck in his Darksteel axe. He then began to climb up. Sticcking his hand here or there and keeping his axe imbedded in the steel dragon's body. He then had reached the chest. He stuck in his axe and sat up using his axe as a hlding as they tumbbled. He was about to stab the blade of Tatsumasa into it's chest when the beast slammed into the side of the chasm and knocked Gatekeeper off. "Ah!" Gatekeeper fell but kept his trajectory straight behind the dragon's. He brought his limbs closer to his body and fell faster, catching up to the dragon. He grbbed ahold again as it reared it's head up and breathed fire at him. he rolled and grabbed onto the thing's back. Then as they fell they entered an opening in the sides of the expanse into a cavern filled with bubbling water from some under water river. There was only one landing area. A tall pillar or tower built long before Gatekeeper's time. He felt mana from the tower, white and blue. He smiled and began to climb the back of the beast as it started to extend it's massive wings. It had begun a decent descent to the top when it's rusted wings failed and shattered. It veered off and slammed into the side of the tower.

Rha quickly got there and saw that Orcus and one of the heroes was battling each other. She then saw the other girls at the bridge so she dashed towards them ready to fight them head on.

Maeis looked as Gatekeeper was fighting the dark elf then saw a merfolk dashing towards the girls of the good party. He ordered his Sacred Wolves to attack the merfolk and they went dashing toward the merfolk.

Rha was about to be within distance to attack when two wolves came out of nowhere. One jumped and bit her hand, unfortunately the hand that he bit on was the one where the wrist blade was and Rha used it to jab through its head and it fell. The other wolf stood back being a bit more cautious, but Rha was fast and she quickly got behind the wolf then sliced its head off with her kris sword. She then looked around and saw the elf that sent those wolves who also had some type of bear with him. So she dashed towards him ready to fight him head on.

Gatekeeper awoke. He sat up from his laying position and held his head. He was at the foot of the tower. He had come very close to falling over the edge after he had been knocked out by the impact. He remembered slamming into the tower with Draco. He had probably bumped his head and fell off. Slowly he got up and looked around. To his left was Tatsumasa half inbedded in the ground. He went over to it and picked it up. He looked up towards the tower and saw Draco attempting to flap his wings but the broken wing wouldn't permit him to fly. Gatekeeper had a look of determination in his eyes. It was time to end it. He ran towards the tower and ran up the stairs. Once inside he gaspped. The tower was made of a silvery metal inside. He was snapped out of his trance when he heard Draco roar. He looked around and saw a stair leading up to the top. He then began his long climb up.

((Now we wait for Orcus -_-))

Orcus gritted his teeth at the destruction of his summons but quickly got over it as his Nightmare reached him and he smiled as the old man threw himself in with the dragon. Orcus jumped up on the Nightmare and readied his halberd. He headed towards the group, slashing at them, aiming more for the ones that seemed elvish. He didn't cared if he hit one over the other, just that it hit. Orcus then readied his attack again. He was wasting no time and, in fact, he was weilding his weapon from as far back on the shaft as he could so as to hit as hard as possible and to have a wide an attack range as possible.
