Thanks A LOT guys evil last night I dreamed that my tank overnight became INFESTED with baby snails. Like you couldn't see in the tank it was just SWARMING! UGH, anyway. I finally got around to going to the aquatic store. Pics and news on that shortly. But I got driftwood. Very glad I waited cause they had a lot more to choose from I got one equally long but half the weight of the one at the other store therfor half the price lol. So I did some "aquascaping" this morning. I'm not that good at it lol, but I'm pretty pleased with the results. Only now I REALLY can't wait to do a massive water change I kind of knocked the shrimp around a bit and like, particles of decomposed shrimp are floating around everywhere. RIGHT, on to the exciting stuff!!! I just wana say that as I type this vermin are running around my desk and whole room so I apoligize for spell fails etc. Ok so I'd like to start by saying I'm thinking of getting a female Betta. As much as I fell in love with that metalic blue betta at the store I can't help but notice that females, the ones I saw anyway, are a lot more lively. They are kept together so, I imagine not very aggressive. And sure the fins are not as long and eye catching as the boys but the ones I saw were very colorful. It would also set my mind at ease about the fish getting along lol. Next up. I dunno if yall know about "inspector" pleco's. But I saw a tank full of em and want one now. But I dunno if they get much bigger than clowns and if it would work in my 15G (Not an inspector but just cute lol) Can't remember what these are called but might get one or two. Unless I have an explosion of the snails I already have. OMG, I totally want this but it's like 35 bucks. crying 3D background These were cool, too late now I already have plants, but, curious as to how hard they are to care for. My ferns are looking spotty, I'm a bit worried about them. This guy really liked my camera This was incredibly cute yet scary at the same time. GIANT fish with human-like eyes. I dunno what this is lol Just for you Nilla

I can't find much info on female bettas sad All I've learned is because they have a pecking order, if I want more than one it has to be like 4 or more not just two so the bottom fish doesn't get picked on to death.
It doesn't say anything about what OTHER fish they are good with.
Although I'm wondering if I should get platties now or just have a sorority of bettas lol. Pleco is still 100% just need to know if I can have inspector or if I need to go downtown to get a clown.

Those snails are Zebra Nerite's. Great little algae-eaters.
This is your first shot on a larger tank, right? Best not to a sororety. Females bettas can be just as aggressive as males, and more often then not, sororeties fail and the betta need to be seperated. One would probly be ok though.
The one that you didnt know what it was, it a Lion Fish. Its a saltwater fish. Rather venomous, actually... But still pretty =3
I just got to thinking, what do you think about Gourami's? They are related to Bettas, and have their own little personalites. A Honey Gourami would be nice! They are about 3 inches long.
I'll see what I can find about Inspector Plecos...

Akari_32 Inspector Pleco's are cute! Just a liiiiiiittle too big for your tank though... http://www.aquaticcommunity.com/pleco/snowball.php nnnnnnoooooo crying Gourami's ok, but I still like betta better. Can a female co exist with platies? Or maybe tetras if platies are too big for tank mates. Are they any less likely to go after the other fish or is it just other betta's their fiesty with?

It kinda depends on the Betta. Some females are fine in communities, but others would rather be alone. If the females are kept toegther in the store, just watch the tank for a few minutes and see how they interact. Look for ripped up fins, see if anyone is hiding or sulking in the gravel. Seeing how they interact with eachother will give a bit of insight of how they'll interact with other fish. Maybe ask if one of the employee's could bag a couple Platies or Tetras (which ever you want to get most), and float the bag in the tank with the Bettas, and see how they react.

Vanilla eXee Itty bitty baby motoros!!!!!!!!!!! WANT!!!!
Are the females betta in with only other bettas, or are there other fish there too?motoros? Yeah, the tank their houses in is a massive female betta community. @Akari They seemed to not care much about each other. No one looked injured, they were all swimming around spaztically but minding their own business pretty much. I would honestly be scared to ask the employees anything like that. I feel scared to admit I want a betta in a community, it's just UNHEARD OF. But if I need to worry about a female in a community, wouldn't a male be worse? Edit: forget about a betta in a community, a betta in an actual TANK is unheard of.

Motoro is what the sting rays are called, those are the same type we had at the aquarium.
Akari's suggestion is a good one, don't ever be afraid to assert yourself at the fish store if you know what you're doing lol.

mmm, nitrites and nitrates still really high. Ammonia still zero. I'm so anxious to be done and so nervous on account of not knowing what fish to get. Maybe I should forget the mid level schoolers, I could just have one betta and a pleco.
