Endzela had been absorbing the knowledge just in case Kettil forgets or writes something wrong, or much like Mot (yes, she saw you, boil) got distracted and started doodling. In fact for several minutes the owl burned a disapproving glare at the poor cowboil's head even as chaos reigned for a bit and then Shun's voice made her tilt her head toward that boil and then ...
...She stared at the teacher.
.... BOILS WHY WERE BOILS SO DUMB AND MEAN AND...
"I do not see why one must be so harsh, she is being very informative," Endzela spoke up pointedly, "I have learned much today."
She wasn't sucking up. Owls don't suck up. They claw your eyes out or glare at you (MOT).
Kettil shifted in his seat, "'Gads Endy, you're all on edge t'day," he then turned his attention back to the teacher, "but don't be so shy with us! We really do want to learn - he's just bein' very ..." He didn't know the boil well but he did offer, "Shun-like."
Indeed Kettil knew the other boil enough to realize Shun didn't particularly have the warm fuzzies showing everywhere where others could see them (probably). Despite the fact that Kettil did intend mischief (he was now feeling guilty over it) he was trying to help to make up for it.
"So uh can people use those fears in like combination maybe?" He asked trying to help her along.
Endzela just huffed and looked like a ball of irritated feathers. How dare people insult an instructor!

Totally distracted by making sure her notes were absolutely perfect, Belladonna completely missed the next question. She only started paying attention when someone starting clicking behind her (Ooohh! Heels!) and was severely disappointing to find they belonged to some boil or another. Boy shoes weren't nearly as good for clicking as girl shoes... No matter how lovely their clackiness might be. In any regard, the witch chose this particular time to pay attention and watched the whole ordeal as it unfolded that eventually resulted in Miss Selene becoming very... Quiet. She looked so upset and worried and downright down, that Belladonna would have none of it! This teacher was so pretty! And nice! And friendly! And there something altogether familiar about her, but no matter how hard she thought about it, Belladonna just couldn't put her finger on it. But it was there, she'd just had to consider it later.
After a moment of scanning her notes, her pink eyes found something she hadn't gotten all the way written down and raised her hand. "Can we hear more about how Glumgut almost died because Professor Slipthroat completely opposed his theory?" She smiled brightly but paused for a moment. "And what was his opposing theory, anyways?" There! That should liven up the discussion, right?

Selene had begun to get her bearings when one of the students piped up in her favor, and she gave Kettil a grateful smile. "Using these fears in combination will offer a wide variety of desirable, or undesirable results, and knowing which to use when may even save your life one day! There is nothing more dangerous than a human that fails to be properly frightened by your methods. You never want to encounter one that fights back, they can be such a hassle!" She, being a DETH associate, would never condone or even discuss the methods of dealing with such humans that the Boogey's might be using. That was why it was better to teach positively, and keep anyone from being in that position in the first place. Knowledge was power, always.
"Combinational fears are an advanced lesson, I assure you we will get to it in time, if you continue to come to my classes. What fun that will be! But for now, let us return to the basics."
She waited for more suggestions, but instead of returning to the basics like she'd hoped, it seemed Bella had other plans. Distracting plans. Selene giggled at the question. "Oh, it was quite a terrible fight indeed. Slipthroats theories on phobia distinctions were directly overlapping of Glumgut's already established categorizations, you see. He was out to prove that Glumgut was nothing more than a sham, making up silly names for silly things that had no meaning. Of course, he just came up with his own names for the same thing, so really, what does that make him!" And Selene let out the first natural sounding laugh she'd ever made since her entrance into the classroom. "Slipthroat's theory has three categories as well. Social phobias, specific phobias, and agoraphobia. Well, when he got to the agoraphobia, Glumgut was all but laughing at how ridiculous giving that fear it's own category. Why should the fear of leaving home have it's own category, he asked! There was much name calling, and in the end the two scientists simply started fighting physically. You see, Glumgut was a small, thin man. He stood no match against Slipthroat, who at the time of this discussion weighed an astonishing four hundred pounds! Most of that was blood, but still!"
And Bella had successfully diverted Selene completely off the class topic. It would be a wonder if she ever returned to it.
The OOC At this point in class it's clear the Professor has lost sight of her goal, and possibly even lost control of the class. Who knows what could happen next? Please note anyone may still join the class at this time, but time is now running out!

Mister X had made himself comfortable in Emily's shadow, but he was bored of observing.
Carefully, in his two dimensional shadow shape, he inched along the ground, shifting towards Kettil's shadow. With deliberation, the Slenderman emerged from it, his tall, seven foot stature looming over the reaper's shoulder. He laid a pale claw upon the boil's shoulder, a number of incorporeal and shadowy tentacles curving from his back.
"Good afternoon," X murmured, close to the boil's ear, his claws pressing into the flesh of Kettil's shoulder-- before vanishing once more into shadow.
He stayed put in the darkness, and plotted about saying hello to a certain serpentine teacher.
paleS Mister X is a new substitute teacher! He is awfully fond of sneaking around. And...playing some pranks on the students.

Honestly, the witch had no idea that she had so thoroughly distracted the teacher. If she had known such, she most likely wouldn't have kept asking questions about the two opposing classifications of FEAR, but she did have the teacher's undivided attention, so she flapped another hand at Selene. "So would you say that Glumgut's classifications are more accurate and therefore should be the ones considered and used for academic purposes, rather than Slipthroat's?" Already she had scribbled everything down about the two that Selene had said, but it was really best to get the fully story!
As for all the distractions in the classroom, aaahhhh~ They were so distracting! Though she couldn't really control the little owl who flapped around, she could at least whirl around in her seat and glare daggers at the awfully-intent-on-being-crude-to-the-teacher boil behind her. After that minor moment of anger, the witch returned to her forward facing position before she angled her head toward Amphi. "Have any questions you want to ask the teacher?" Belladonna whispered, hoping that the pretty mermaid (she probably wasn't a mermaid, but the witch would find out later what exactly she was) could still get all her questions answered without a voice. Pfftt, "accident". Poor darling, thing.

"Mister Danger, I will not asssssk you again." How did she know his name? She failed to ask for it, instead relying on common knowledge of celebrities; which she would regret later, she was sure. "Pleasssse keep your inappropriate commentssss to yourssssself. This is a classssssssroom, not a nightclub."
Her hand shook as she looked for a new slide, pausing only to look up at Kettil and Bella's comments.
"Fear of strangers is very real, and very usable! And as for whose theories I subscribe to, you will take note from my classes that I am a firm subscriber of Glumgut's theories. Slipthroat is a troublemaker! A brilliant man, but a troublemaker. Now, let me give you a good example of why I teach the Glumgut theory, hmm?"
She pulled out the new sheet, which already had a drawing on it. In fact, there were two artists at work here..
![User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show. User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.](https://graphics.gaiaonline.com/images/s.gif)
"So here we have a typical scenario for a scare victim, who is asleep, and dreaming." The professor had yet to look at the actual slide yet. She looked at the class as she spoke. "He is dreaming, something pleasant perhaps, and-"
She noticed.
"And." Her voice wavered.
"... And," She sucked it up and continued. "Our job is of course to feed on their Fear, which means they have to be scared of something. Now, let us suppose our research has indicated this human has a fear of death. How would they best be scared then? There's three likely options, and choosing which of the three is why it's important to know your Fears. Let us suppose you choose Kettil's method, which is to prey on the fear of the dead. A zombie, perhaps."
She drew a little zombie coming towards the bed.
"This could work. The human may fear zombies, but they also may not. Simply being scared of death does not necessarily mean they are susceptible to all three categories of Death, and it's your job to figure out which is the safest, most reliable scare tactic for this human. Say, perhaps, he or she likes zombies." Selene giggled quietly. "Believe it or not, some humans are beginning to have an odd affection for gore and death. You have to be careful you don't find one of those! But even more dangerous is the human who has watched far too many of the most recent phenomenon - zombie dispatch instructional videos. Yes, these exist! And a human that has watched too many of these is desensitized to the dead and rotting. They will try to attack you! This is to be avoided, of course.."
She used her fist to erase the zombie.
"So you must use your knowledge of alternate categories of death to scare this human. Perhaps rely on the abstract fear of death instead. Illusion is a widely used scare tactic, and reliably safer than actual contact with a human. Create the illusion of being in a coffin. Buried alive. And so on. Creativity is key to success!"
As she spoke, she'd drawn a box around the human, and now that she was done, she carefully erased it.
"So in summary, the importance of knowing your Fear categories can help you to maximize your Fear potential. One of my favorite examples is the Fear of Darkness. It's so versatile! Consider this, if you will. Some humans are scared of the dark because they believe something bad will happen to them in the darkness that they are safe from, in the light. Actional Fear! And some people are afraid of darkness for an entirely different reason - the darkness itself may feel crushing, a tangible presence that envelops them and constricts them, much like an enclosed space. This is a tangible Fear! And lastly, the Fear of Darkness can be as simple as emotional reaction. Darkness may bring them loneliness. Unhappiness. Some form of mental distress. This is Abstract Fear! It is your job to know which category to work from - or, if you're unsure, then how best to use all three to assure maximum Fear potential with the least amount of risk!"
She took her slide off the projector, and then turned off the machine. "Now, gather your things and take your last notes while I write the homework on the board for you, please. Thank you!"
The OOC Students may no longer enter this class (duh, it's over! ... isn't it? (Hint: It's not)
