Katelyn smiled as she stepped inside the fast food establishment. Looking around, she took in a breath, her mouth watering a little bit as she caught the smell of french fries. Fast food was one of her guilty pleasures... She just couldn't help it! It was a good thing that she walked everywhere, it helped her keep her weight down, and it wasn't like she ate fast food every day! Heck, not even every week! Stepping away from the door, she approached the counter, her head tilting to the side a little bit as she looked at the menu. "Hi! Welcome to Mickey C's order when ready!" The overly perky employee behind the counter said. Katelyn just smiled at her and nodded her head. She noticed the glance the girl had given her, but she was used to glances like those. People thinking that she was being rude because she hadn't spoken any actual words. Sighing softly, she placed her hand in her pocket and felt a few of the ginger candies that Tyrese had told her to start eating. They helped with the pain she felt with her throat, but she was still scared to actually start talking. She was able to start humming again though! She could hum for up to an hour now before her throat started to hurt! As she looked over the menu, she chewed at the inside of her cheek a little bit. She had unfortunately left her pen at home, so she had no way of writing a message on her notebook.
'Well... Here goes nothing.' She thought as she approached the counter. The employee was gone and the young brunette had to glance around a bit before a second employee approached her and gave her the same overly happy greeting. Smiling at the employee softly, the young woman then looked up at the menu. Looking at the employee again, Katelyn pointed at the menu before she smiled a little and held up 7 fingers to try and tell the teen behind the counter that she wanted the number 7 combo, which was the 8 piece chicken nuggets. Holding up 7 fingers again, the young woman then pointed to the picture of a strawberry shake that was on an ad that was on the counter. Looking at the employee again, her smile faded a bit as she saw the confused look on the kid's face. "I would like a number seven and a strawberry shake." She signed, hoping that there may be a chance that the kid understood sign language, but he looked even more confused. Sighing softly, Katelyn tapped the picture of the strawberry milkshake on the ad again before she pointed at the menu. When the kid glanced at the menu, she smiled a little and held up 7 fingers when he looked at her again.
The kid didn't type anything though, he still just looked like a deer in the headlights. Katelyn's face started to turn a light shade of red as she felt quite embarrassed. A few people had actually stopped eating and were looking at her. Glancing around, she grew a bit stressed out when she saw all of the pens that were usually up front were not in their little cups. Why were there no pens. Looking at the boy again, the young woman's face was red and her smile was gone as she once again held up 7 fingers then pointed at the menu and picture of the strawberry milkshake. Maybe she should just run with her tail between her legs before everyone thinks she is a moron.

This was the new place, huh? A blue eye wandered around, followed by a silver, as he scanned the immediate area of the apparent fast food place. He was hungry but at the same time he didn't want to be around all these people walking around. The scars on his face that weren't protected by his sunglasses and make-up were getting noticed, at least by the children, and it was making him rather unnerved. He didn't like people looking at him for the very reason they could all see on his face, and yet they stared anyways. With a hum of annoyance Austin shoved his hands into his jacket pockets and lumbered his way up to the line behind some girl making signs with her hands. He stood in lone behind her for a few seconds, slowly becoming more and more irritated as he had to wait for this cashier to understand what she was trying to say. Why would she be repeating the number 7 over and over if that wasn't what she wanted? "Can we hurry this along?" he snapped as he side stepped the girl, elbowing her off to the side just a bit. "She wants a number 7, idiot." Turning back towards her, Austin gestured towards the offended looking cashier, "Pay the man already so we can go about our day."
He barely waited for her to finish paying before he was taking her place to order his own food. Manners, they weren't his strong suit. In fact he'd been called an a** many times over the years for the way he treated people; even his own friends and family. His motto was that people weren't worth the effort, they all just lie in the end. Everyone is in it for themselves so he was in it for himself. He's had too many experiences with the bad side of people since his accident that if he were to be the last man on earth, he'd be okay with that. "Number 2," he ordered, pulling his wallet from his back pocket. Offering the six bucks for the meal, he grunted in dissatisfaction as he was handed his receipt and forced to wait for his food. Why didn't he just drive over here again? It was a nice enough day to be riding his Harley, and yet here he was, shlupping around like the rest of the world. Grabbing his cup, no one could see the annoyed expression behind his sunglasses as he made his way to the soda fountain to get his drink while he waited.

Katelyn was beginning to grow more and more flustered as the teen didn't seem to comprehend that she wanted a number seven. She was just about ready to rush out of the store when the person standing in line behind her spoke up. Blushing a bit more as she wanted to straight out run and hide before she grunted softly and stumbled a little bit as the male behind her elbowed her out of the way. Her bottom lip stuck out in a small pout as she shot a look to the male. Her grey/blue eyes looked at the male in sunglasses before she blinked as the male told the kid behind the register what she had wanted. While she felt the guy could have been a bit more polite about it, the brunette relaxed and let out a small sigh. Looking up at him, she blinked before quickly nodding her head. Handing the cashier the exact change for her meal, the female cast a small glance towards the male. While he was quite rude, she was thankful that he had spoken up for her. Looking at the cashier, the girl sighed softly as she saw him slide a fountain drink cup towards her.
Whatever, she wasn't going to try and deal with that kid again. Taking the cup, the brunette then headed towards the soda fountain. Filling her cup halfway with ice, she glanced over at the blonde male. Noticing some scars on his skin, she only glanced at them for a second before she quickly looked at the soda fountain again. She knew how it felt to have her scars stared at, so she wasn't going to linger on looking at the male's scars. Swallowing a little bit, she filled her cup with cherry Pepsi before she chewed at the inside of her cheek a little bit. As she glanced around, she noticed a purple crayon on one of the tables. Some kid must have left it on the table, which was lucky for her. Too bad she just hadn't noticed it sooner. Quickly snatching up the crayon, she opened her notebook up. Returning to the soda fountain, she set the cup down and quickly started writing. "Thank you. I don't think he ever would have figured it out." She wrote before turning the notebook towards him, a small smile on her face. He didn't seem to be the friendly type, but she hoped that he wouldn't snap at her too much.

They had one of those new soda machines where you could mix your sodas for new flavors; along with having a wider variety. They were pretty cool. If the option was there, why not take advantage of it. His shoulders shrugged, and a quick tilt of his head, as he brought his cup under the fountain spout. Pressing the buttons on the screen, he first chose Lemonade to fill his cup about half way before he switched through drinks and added Dr. Pepper to the rest of the cup; mixing the two together. It was a random mix he had tried one hot, summer day, and since then he tried to get his hands on it every opportunity he got. When he was finished filling up his cup with ice and his fizzy concoction, he placed a lid atop the cup and stuck a straw through the perforated hole given. A quick swirl of his drink to mix the two up a bit better and he was sucking it down to pass time while he waited for his food. Scooting away from the machine, Austin took a leisurely seat at the booth right next to it. Propping his feet up onto the seat as he leaned his back against the wall, the blonde slowly sipped at his drink while his one working eye scanned the joint lazily. No one here was of any interest but what else was he supposed to do while he waited, chit-chat? No thank you!
His eyes drifted around the fast food place and finally ended up on the mute that had been standing in front of him for that incompetent moron at the counter. Looking in her direction as much as possible without turning his head, Austin let out an exasperated breath as he realized that his worst idea was coming true; people were trying to talk to him unnecessarily. Great. Unable to properly see whatever it was she was using to try and get his attention because of his injured right eye, Austin finally turned to read what she wrote. With an unseen roll of his eyes, he continued to sip at his soda for a bit before finally letting go of the straw. "Well, he's an idiot," he replied bluntly, unafraid to say whatever was on his mind.

Bailey rocked back-and-forth on her feet, chewing at the inside of her cheek a little as she looked down at the receipt in her hands. Number 105. She thought to herself as she glanced at the front counter. She couldn't really see what was going on in the kitchen, so she just settled with looking at the little black letters and numbers that were printed onto her receipt. As she waited, the red-head glanced up as the little bell rang, alerting that someone had entered the building. Bailey didn't turn to look at who came in through the door, but she did glance up as the man that had entered the building placed his order. Looking down again, she played with the corner of the receipt before looking up as the man spoke to her. Smiling at him, she then shook her head. "Nah, this is my first time comin' here. I actually just moved to the city yesterday." She said as her golden eyes looked at the male. After a second pause, she smiled a bit again and held out her hand. "I'm Bailey Peterson. It's nice to meet ya!" She said, her head tilting to the side just a little bit as she looked at him. Maybe this was going to be her chance to make a new friend!
