[Class] Create Your Own Defense (pg. 21 Class dismissed)

Rojo made a valiant attempt at properly outfitting his dummy this time, and though he slapped a lot more butt silk on, it was still in all the wrong places. When the spider attacked, it left behind another pile of fluff and fabric.  

[Smerdle]

The skeleton piled on more...  

[Smerdle]

...and more...  

[Smerdle]

...and more butt silk...  

[Smerdle]

...so much more each time he clad a new dummy that, even he, who knew nothing of how butt silk operated, wondered where his spider friend was getting it all.  

[Smerdle]

But every time, it wasn't enough.  

[Smerdle]

The spider tried to show him what he was doing wrong, jabbing its pointy legs at joints and other bits where it had seen humanoid armor go, but the boil was having none of it.  

[Smerdle]

He persisted in creating armor better suited for display than defense, and on top of that he didn't seem at all disturbed by his failures, minus that first one.  

[Smerdle]

It was as if he was learning nothing, dummy after dummy falling victim to Rojo's fabulous sense of style and abysmal sense of self preservation.  

[Smerdle]

He did debate conceding, but... nah.  

[Smerdle]

Finally, it was the spider who stopped him from wreaking further havoc. After destroying its eleventh dummy, it turned multiple, baleful eyes on the boil, silently begging him to stop the madness.

"Oh, all right," Rojo agreed with a sigh. "I will go change the armor stuff to something less wonderful. I just ask you one more thing, my glorious steed."

The spider put an arm on Rojo's shoulder, asking what he required.

"Try one last time?"  

[Smerdle]

"For Rojo?"  

[Smerdle]

The spider did try. It spewed enough webbing to give their latest dummy nine feet of luxurious, translucent hair, as well as a stunning train, complete with tiny tulips set at equal distances down its length. They were actually just blobs, but Rojo called them tulips in his head.

In the end, however, it didn't even matter.

The boil was rather dejected when he and his temporary mount took their walk of shame back to Tajana's supplies, but he bounced back easily enough by the time he had found an intact dummy. Though his technique really wasn't any better than it had been this whole time, steel was much harder to mold into stylish shapes, so he was forced to lay larger pieces over vital parts of the dummy's anatomy. This time when his spider attacked, the dummy easily remained whole.

Lock was grateful when the teacher began speaking; more distractions away from the ground. She was an interesting character, and Lock watched her idly drift off between sentences. Odd. Suspicious.

He gave a look to Shun briefly, then over to Piper. If they weren't panicked and suspicious, he would quell his thoughts. Lock hadn't been the same since Miasma Village. The paranoia followed.

The challenge was simple enough. Create armor, leave the spider to attack it, see if you did well enough. Honestly it was a pretty typical activity at Amityville Academy. He was grateful for the expertise.

The eight foot spider he was a little more wary of. That was a huge jacking spider. One that could easily eat him. Voodoo was happy enough though; she took one look at the spider and then modded her bodily form to include spider-like appendages. Lock gave her a disapproving look. Voodoo happily skittered along with them.

Leather was his choice of armor. It was a familiar enough material for him, and easy enough to slap together on a dummy.

The spider was all to happy to chomp through not one, but two of his armor versions. Part of him was just eternally grateful that the spider wasn't chomping on his body. The other part was annoyed the spider was really giving it his all. He wanted to pass this class, alright?

Still he piled more leather on. Logic just seemed to follow that tons of the material would protect it. More defense equaled more safety.

His spider's pincers thought otherwise.
